Age:45
Starting weight: 19st 10lbs on 01/01/17
Goal: 9st 10lbs
Plan: low carb, high fat

Well, it's the biggest I've ever been. Feel horrid, but determined to make this the last year of being a fat person. I''m going to diet the shit out of this mess I'm in! I've see threads to lose 100lbs, but not 140. If anyone else is in the same scary boat and fancies friendly, non-judgmental journey sharing, please say hello and share away.

Day 3, and all's well. I need to get better at fitting food in around the gym but aside from that I feel good. Had a whoosh of water weight coming off, I think, as the gym scales show me 3lb lighter. I wouldn't normally hop on the scales so soon but with the weekend looming I was hoping for a psychological boost!! 👍

littlemissfuckingsunshine · 06/01/2017 12:22

Clyde was delicious indeed. I do think Monday will be better. I can get back into routine. Today we didn't get up till 11, even the kidsShock. The kids had chocolate cake from breakfast.

I need routine again.

Also good luck and congratulations to everyone on their journeys and to thoses who have lost and are maintaining.

lotsawobblybits · 06/01/2017 15:05

10stonestolose- I was shattered last night as well last night, DP had to fill me in on the ending of Death in Paradise Blush.

So far today has been a little harder, someone has brought in a tin of left over Christmas shortbread into the office and I can smell it like the Danish bacon advert ...sat here munching celery sticks - they are just not the same. I have resisted until now, they won't taste as good as losing a pound will feel.

Drinking a bit more water today, little walk at lunchtime. Worrying the weekend will be hard when I am out of a routine. Keep going everyone!

YorkiesGlasses · 06/01/2017 16:29

I'm having a rare 'don't really care about food' day, so I just had plain porridge for breakfast and cooked two salmon fillets - one for lunch, one for dinner with veg.

I'm seeing family tomorrow and they always put on a big spread, so I'm going to have to be careful! Other people's food is so much trickier isn't it? If it was your own shortbread you could just bin it. (But I would have to do the SATC trick of dousing it in washing up liquid first to stop me trying to retrieve it!)

YorkiesGlasses · 06/01/2017 16:33

10stonestolose Yep, it's carefully worked out meal plans from now on. And no crisps!

10stonestolose · 06/01/2017 22:31

Penguin...3 days and 3 lbs off, well done you! Shame we can't lose a lb everyday until the weight's off isn't it?! It'd all be gone by May. Well we can dream....

Sunshine...pleased Clyde was delish! Over Christmas I found myself allowing my daughter to eat Yule log at 7am, so you're not alone. Heck, some days I even joined her! Good luck for Monday.

Wobbly....amazing strength of will there, resisting that shortbread. Go wobbly!! Yes, weekend will be hard for us all I think, I'm always having to fight my 'you deserve a treat, it's the weekend' mentality. Normally have the weekend off my evening walk with my friend, but we've decided to do sat and sun too this week to give us an extra boost to stick to it. Friend only has 3 stone to lose, but we spur each other on.

Glasses....yes, sadly the crisps must go! Hope you manage to stay on track at your family event. Just say 'no thank you' to any cake, with a sweet smile through gritted teeth Grin

Day 6 and it's been a good day...stuck to plan and managed 19500 steps!! But in bed by 10pm again, I'm shattered. Feeling very determined, but I have to plan for a group of us to have afternoon tea out for a friend's birthday next week and know there'll be literally nothing I can eat. Hard! Just got to try to keep my eye on my goal. Failure is simply not an option this time! Have a good weekend everyone. Post if you're feeling your resolve slipping or even just to encourage the rest of us if you're feeling particularly strong. We can do this.

I'm so glad I found this thread, you are all giving me the motivation. Everyone is doing so well and it's spurring me on to get started.

DesertIslandPenguin · 07/01/2017 12:52

10stones I know!! It would be lovely to have it all slip away so quickly but I suspect it will be harder work than that. I certainly feel motivated for the weekend although I am nursing an annoying headache.

Sikkinis · 07/01/2017 16:26

Hope it's ok for me to join this thread! Am currently 22 stone so looking to lose around 10 to be 'normal'

Finding it really hard so far, have only got started this week as I was still in Christmas mode before Monday. Woman in Tesco complimented me on my healthy trolley (usually eat healthily/organic but add large portion sizes, chocolate and buttery toast on top..) made me feel good for about 10 minutes then back to Sad

Sikkinis · 07/01/2017 16:29

I should add that I'm not on a particular diet, Just my usual eating with smaller portion sizes and no chocolate or crap. I work from home so it's been really hard avoiding snacking and find myself thinking about the next meal. Hoping I can start to do as well as the rest of you Smile

10stonestolose · 07/01/2017 19:20

Hey Sikkinis, welcome! It sounds like this is the right thread for you. The good thing is that if you can cut your snacking out, your diet will pretty healthy.

Just thinking about it...If you work from home, is it possible to work upstairs instead of downstairs? Or at least further away from the kitchen? Then you could take healthy drinks/snacks/lunch with you and mentally not allow yourself to go near the kitchen until dinner time. It's really just anything you can think of that will break that habit initially, then it will get a lot easier. Good luck with whatever you try and let us know how it's going.

I've had a totally out of routine day and did manage to stick to my plan, but it wasn't easy today. lazy morning, then long drive to visit relatives. I actually said we'd eat before we got there because I knew if I didn't it would be wall to wall sandwiches, sausage rolls and cake. So just had a big brunch before we left and drank black tea whilst there. Got back, walked for 1hr 15mins with my friend and just tucked into a lovely low-carb shepherd's pie with cabbage. 12,000 steps...not bad for a Saturday. Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Can I join you?

21 stone 4 which is pretty much the most I have ever weighed. DC3 is. 6 months old and I have stopped bfing so time to do something. Going back to work next week so hoping a routine will help. Must not snack at my desk or indulge in office cake.

Am taking DH to NYC at the end of March and my first goal is not needing a seatbelt extension.

Christmassnake · 07/01/2017 19:46

Well I weighed myself today...oh god it's not good.ive put on over Xmas...so I've bought some gym gear ...good old primark a fraction of m and s prices..back to doing exercise and meal planning on Tuesday...this time I've bought from the works a pink book called the doodle diary and I'm going to write down what I eat.

Christmassnake · 07/01/2017 19:47

Sainsburys bloody vegan chesse...why why did they make it...its calories I don't need.but I crave it badly...

Christmassnake · 07/01/2017 19:56

Little misssunshine I had 4 pregnancies at around the 20 stone mark.all were fine with no problems.they are adults /teens now. I was 25 stone with my 4 th child at the end.bmi of 52...obviously it's not a good idea, but I wouldn't of had kids otherwise, and I think I was in denial about my size..I didn't get grief from midwives.i didn't require extra care and had water births.it can be done

10stonestolose · 07/01/2017 22:21

Welcome Arms! Great timing too if you're just about to start a new routine, then you won't be reverting to your old bad habits. You shouldn't need that seatbelt extension. Reckon you'll be in the teens by the end of March if you stay on track (a steady 1.5lbs a week would do that and you're likely to lose a lot more than that at first).

Snake...you'll soon have those lbs back off if you put the gym gear and notepad to good use. Oh but only if you limit yourself to VERY, VERY small portions of that cheese Grin

10stonestolose · 08/01/2017 07:19

I started on the 1st, so it's weigh-in day for me today and pretty pleased with my 9lbs loss.

WEEK 1
Starting weight: 19.10
Weight now: 19.1
Lost this week: 9
Total lost: 9

Another 2lbs and I'll squeak into the 18s, so I think my next small target will be to try to lose 5lbs this week to hit the 1st-stone-off mark at 18.10. Good luck anyone else weighing in today and tomorrow.

Well done @10stones - that's a brilliant loss!

ScarletSienna · 08/01/2017 11:55

That is great, 10!

lotsawobblybits · 08/01/2017 12:39

Fantastic 10stones great loss! Grin
Keep on keeping on and you will get there in no time!

Yesterday was better than I expected, had soup for brunch which kept me going till dinner time, no snacking which is a result. Made a fantastic Hairy bikers Chicken tagine from their dieters book- and you wouldn't know it was low calorie, even had a small glass of wine and kept within calorie budget.

Let's see how today goes- so far so good, but it's only 12.30!! Keep thinking how good it will be to have a photo taken and not feel embarrassed. We have loads of events this summer and I am picturing myself in a designer dress (currently a 24) and some fab heels.

Have a good day everyone!

YorkiesGlasses · 08/01/2017 12:58

Nine pound weightloss in one week! That's winning at life!!

I've fallen into the MFP trap of eating a bowl of dry salad leaves for lunch so that I can go for it at dinner time and stay within my limit. I think when I weigh myself tomorrow I'll have lost two pounds which is better than nothing, but I know it could have been better. I'm just not very inspired by healthy food tbh. For breakfast I have porridge with some kind of nut milk and cinnamon and berries, and I like that. Afterwards it all goes a bit... errr... I've tracked down a copy of the Rosemary Conley Hip and Thigh diet from the 80s, because apparently she wrote it after getting diagnosed with gallstones. That's going to be my bible going forward (I just hope it's not too 80s!)

YorkiesGlasses · 08/01/2017 13:01

Oh, and my new best friend is Cholula Hot Sauce. It jujjes (I don't know how to spell that word! Juhjjs?!) up anything, and apparently helps to rev the metabolism a bit too Smile

Sikkinis · 08/01/2017 14:34

10stonestolose That's great news!! Well done :)

I've started to think about places to work other than the house, but most useful is I've made a list of things I must complete before eating (like tidying, putting washing on) half as a preventative measure and half as an incentive to sort the house out!

Also been drinking lots of water in an effort to stay full, feeling much better about things today.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone x

Sikkinis · 08/01/2017 14:35

Also @YorkiesGlasses you should have a look at Joe Wicks/Lean in 15 on Facebook, he posts high fat low sugar meals which I find great inspiration for lunches
