Nanny yes I'm doing Low-Carb, High-Fat, but in a very lazy way i.e.: I don't weigh, measure, or count anything. I just avoid foods completely that I know contain obvious carbs or sugar. I never cheat with food so far but I do allow myself prosecco/champagne or vodka/Gin with slimline tonics when I'm out. Fruit is usually berries or the odd apple. Generally it's meat/eggs/nuts/cheese/salad/veg/butter/cream. Cauliflower rice is a godsend for curries/chillis. So I have no idea actually how low-carb my diet is, but I seem to lose weight and feel fine exercising on it. Weirdly, I actually seem to have more stamina than I did before. I did an hour's high energy yoga class at the gym this morning before work (7.15am, I must be mad!
),which was super tough, but I just tried to do as much as I could and managed almost everything ('the crow' was the only no no). Same with running, I'm pretty slow, but it's a pace I'm comfortable with and I'd never have been able to run for over 40 minutes before.
Alfie congrats on your weight loss so far! I like the sound of your relaxed attitude to your diet, it's certainly easier to stick to in the long term if you don't feel too deprived. And with the amount of weight we have to lose, I think it's important to live too, it's a long old road to not do anything we enjoy.
I'm going to try a treadmill power walking class at the gym later and booked a stupidly early spinning class tom morning, which terrifies me slightly. It seems a lot for a beginner, but my friend and I are motivating each other to really get into the gym lifestyle. I've never been a gym bunny and I'm six stones heavier than my friend, so it's not easy, but I'm really giving it my best shot. I imagine it'll settle down once we discover the classes etc that we enjoy, but for now we're trying lots of new things. I'm worried about the loose skin and everything I've read points to not losing weight too quickly and improving muscle tone to make the biggest difference. I'm providing my body with plenty of fat, so it shouldn't use muscle for fuel and I'm averaging about 2lbs a week weight loss (discounting the big losses in first couple of weeks) so I'm within recommended weight loss guidelines. I am just so determined to look and feel fantastic and stay that way, failure is just not an option I'm even considering. I've no idea where this laser focus has come from, but Iet's hope it's here to stay!
Have a brilliant week everyone!
