Count me in. I seem to have put on loads of weight in the last couple of months and can't work out why. To save me buying more new clothes I need to lose 14kg.
To do this I am cutting down on alcohol ( I suspect know this could be the reason for the weight gain).
Eating a healthier diet - weirdly I love salad & vegetables so this shouldn't be too hard. I just have to remember to buy them and not care that no one else eats them.
More exercise - I have roped in my family to help with this. They have promised to have a healthy dinner cooked so I can have time to exercise. The ones not cooking have to kick my sorry arse out the door.
My dh is getting me a fitbit, new pair of fell running shoes (I used to race) and keeps telling me about challenges on Strava that I can sign up to (he understands that I am a really sore loser). The 1000miles in a year is looking the top contender.
I am gettting some weights and resistance /exercise band from ALDI when they go on sale next week.

The figures for those that have got this far - I weigh 79Kg, 173cm tall, BMI 26.4, bust 93cm, waist 97cm, hips 109cm, thighs 60cm, bicep (bit that wafts about in a light breeeze just below the shoulder) 33cm.

I am telling everyone who will listen that I will have abdominal muscles by the end of the year. This this doable. I can do it. It is 28 weeks of losing 0.5kg per week. I can do this.

PushingElephantsUpStairs · 02/01/2017 09:53

Unescorted sounds great, helps you have the support from your family as well. My DP has just told me that if I come home from work with wine he'll throw it away!

Does everyone use MyFitnessPal? I used it before but I tend to get a bit fixated in it so wasn't going to bother this time. What do you think?

Keremy · 02/01/2017 09:57

Ok can I join please?

I used to be very slim and fit and sporty. Now about 14 and a half stone and have creeped up from a size 12 to size 16/18 and hate it :(

I went through an horrendous period with exh where I didn't have enough food and now binge eating and it needs to stop.

Keremy · 02/01/2017 09:59

Forgot to add I now have arthritis so exercise will be limited. Up for plenty of walking.

nothingfancy · 02/01/2017 10:14

OK, I need to join. 13st 6 this morning - the heaviest I've ever been.

Ordered a fitbit yesterday as my Christmas present - didn't know what I wanted until then - after talking to a couple of people at church who said they were fantastic.

Main problem - work. I work in a large open-plan office where almost every day someone has bought cakes to celebrate their birthday. Said cakes are placed on a table about 10m from my desk. Can't move desk. Can I have some interesting distraction ideas?

openingthexmasspirit · 02/01/2017 10:19

Good start with food yesterday lots of veg and less carbs with dinner and smaller portion. Didn't walk much rained all day. Day of de xmasing the house today.
Have a good day all.

Queenelsarules · 02/01/2017 10:22

I'd like to join please, I have four stone to lose, have lost weight before and felt great. I eat when I'm stressed, when I'm sad, when I'm happy, classic emotional eater. I need to stop, I want to be well and able to be around for my children for as long as possible.

I intend to walk for 30 mins 3 times a week, and build up from there.

GreyandGrumpy48 · 02/01/2017 10:31

Didn't have a great day with food yesterday- still slot of xmas treats about but did my 10,000 steps and some yoga so I will take that as a positive. Christmas decluttering today but will make sure I get outside for a walk as the sun is shining.

beanhunter · 02/01/2017 11:01

Right so I've just done wk 3 r1 of C25K. Man it was cold and icy! Feel smug now. Going out for lunch so that may be a challenge but figure this isn't about individual meals so if I choose sensibly and don't have pudding and then soup for dinner all is good right?

Stellar67 · 02/01/2017 11:12

Well done Bean. I'm planning to get out this week. I've ordered new insoles as I have plantar fasciitis. But it shouldn't really stop me.

OhHolyFuck · 02/01/2017 14:16

Ok, food plan for today

B - ham bread roll
L - tomato and lentil soup (2 bread roll)
D - at work so sw ready meal
S - grapes
Dr - coffee x 3, diet tonic water
Ex - walked a little round a children's farm

Not amazing I know, very carb heavy but using up dregs of fridge, I'll be at work tonight though so that should limit the opportunity for bad choices

ClashCityRocker · 02/01/2017 14:19

nothingfancy I have the same problem with work goodies. It will be worse when I go back because everyone brings in the chocolate and biscuits leftover from Christmas (because, ironically, they're trying to lose weight so don't want it in the house usually!)

I plan to chew airwaves chewing gum non-stop. Everything tastes mingling when you've been chewing chewing gum.

Decent walk today for an hour - lovely sunny day but v. frosty. I'm enjoying being out of the house though.

Thanks for the link, lovelesrning I'll take a look.

Chicken dinner for tea tonight. I'm reducing the roast potato portion and upping the veggies - and will only have one Yorkshire pudding.

It's made me realise that sometimes I cook too much with the intention of having leftovers to pick at later. And I'm not picking because I'm hungry - I'm normally stuffed! So smaller portions all round, chicken out straight away for chicken salad lunch tomorrow, everything else in the bin so I can't pick at it during the evening.

Lizsmum · 02/01/2017 19:24

Weighed in today at 13 13. Had fruit and cheese for breakfast and a vegetable quiche for lunch (I was out) so not a great start food-wise. On the other hand went for a walk through Green Park and St James's Park enjoying the sunshine.

Someone ^^ asked about My Fitness Pal. I use it but I try not to get obsessional with finding the exact brand/supplier of what ever I'm eating. I 'm pretty sure that it makes little difference to the calories whether I've bought the chicken breast from Lidl or M&S.

DesperatelySeeking2016 · 02/01/2017 21:10

I struggled today as went to my mum's for lunch.

B- overnight oats made with total 0%, Oatly and frozen berries
Snacks - crisps (thanks mum! - I need to work on my willpower around crisps, they are my downfall)
L- roast chicken dinner (with 4 roast potatoes Blush and salted caramel chocolate tart, which was amazing
D - 4 prawns and a tiny bit of leftover cous cous, a Jaffa cake alpen light bar.

It is less than ideal but could have been worse and I have prepped for tomorrow. I have not done any exercise yet so am going to set my alarm early for tomorrow!

openingthexmasspirit · 02/01/2017 21:45

Good day, portions smaller, veg intake up, house totally cleaned plans made and shopping list started for totally healthy shop on Friday.

RandomMcRandomface · 02/01/2017 23:18

nothingfancy I have that problem too!

Checking in after two days - I am doing well, no sugar including when I went to the movies which was hard. I went for a run yesterday which I am pretty sore from now but hope to do some yoga today and get out for another run on Thursday as well.

I have a Q for those of you with kids - do you eat with them or not? Tricky thing I find is DH and kids are happy with the sort of foods I don't want to eat, but don't really want to do two meals either.

NormaSmuff · 03/01/2017 08:50

i need to join,
i think my downfall is coffee, with sugar.
have had 4 already this morning, plus 2 cups of tea.
and it is still early.
i hate the sugar substitutes.

i ate a load of cauliflower last night, less potatoes than anyone, but then helped finish the box of christmas chocs Sad

NormaSmuff · 03/01/2017 08:51

oh but today i am so bloated, was it too much cauliflower?

Stellar67 · 03/01/2017 10:27

Made a huge veg casserole last night. But then I had a crisp munch attack.

My downfall is crisps, at night. I need to find something to occupy my salt fetish. Grin

HerRoyalFattyness · 03/01/2017 10:32

random I've always eaten with the kids. I find they eat better and are more likely to eat their veg if they see me doing it and it just became normal to eat with them. I never cook 2 meals. They eat what I eat.

I'm another who had a crisp binge last night. Blush

ChalkyC · 03/01/2017 16:25

Hi - checking in to see how everyone's doing! Today is my first day back at work so office new year new attitude day. I went for a run yesterday (but then lost it a bit in the evening and ate toblerone!). Today has been good - eggs for breakfast, chicken and avocado salad for lunch and fruit snacks. And I went to the gym! The gym I belong to is a personal trainer gym and it runs what it calls fitness slots at lunchtime - 30 mins of squats, lunges, trx upper body work etc. Now I can hardly move....!
Planning a recipe from my new lean in 15 book tonight. But I'm hungry now...

DesperatelySeeking2016 · 03/01/2017 16:50

I did a Joe Wicks low impact workout this morning - I thought I was going to throw up! I got through the day at work without eating a biscuit (this is a huge achievement). Bolognese and courgetti for tea and then I need to crack on with work, not doing anything over the holiday made for a super stressful day today Sad

openingthexmasspirit · 03/01/2017 16:58

Good day today, slimming world eggbacon muffins for breakfast,
Sweetener instead of sugar and semi skimmed milk in my coffee all day
Cracker bread homemade coleslaw and tuna for lunch.
Not sure about tea yet.
And no fizzy drink which is my new yrs resolution. Not much exercise been doing lots of paperwork in prep for going back to work.
Pic of muffins below was well impressed.

Sweetener instead of sugar

openingthexmasspirit

I gave up my Diet Coke habit on 31/12/2013. I inexplicably lost 20lb in the months that followed

It's perfectly explicable

Artificial sweeteners raise insulin levels

High insulin levels and weight problems go hand in hand

I really need to kick this coke habit. Who's with me?

Lovelearning
Its the fizz more than what actual drink it is will drink anything fuzzy.

And sweetener instead of sugar may not be perfect but it's a step away from 2 sugars per coffee and between 5-8 coffees per day.

I'll take it for now .
