Happy Advent!

Here's the link to the November thread where we cheered each other on to be MoSlender

Now we slide frostily into Christmas with the hope of losing more (or at least not losing our grip completely)

Archie can you cry off citing your poor back? Probably too late for that but sorry it's still paining you.

Spurious that made me chuckle - I was doing last-minute Christmas shopping on Saturday and getting my Dad some posh cheese from that International Cheese place. At the counter they have a big basket of "cheese bites", basically little portions wrapped in cling film for £1. I chucked in a wodge of Stilton and just wandered around the shopping centre eating it Xmas Blush Xmas Grin

Am supposed to be fasting today. I made my favourite famous chicken broccoli pasta last night and the leftovers are in the fridge, I can hear them calling me...

QuimReaper · 27/12/2016 12:01

Kiki I am a proud new Flex 2 owner too! And I too am planning a walk w/podcast, and will probably chuck in a swim too! Although I am very snotty, I'm not sure how well the swimming will go with a cold...

KikisDeliveryService · 27/12/2016 12:06

quim my pool is closed for bank holiday today but yes, I must take the flex 2 for a swim too! Let me know how well it records yours later. I still haven't investigated if it will automatically understand I've been cycling.

Right, I'd better get out and do something before the chocolate cravings get too loud to ignore!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 27/12/2016 17:21

Oh god I weighed myself. Linda's all over the shop. Going out for dinner tonight. So help me God.

I got loads of boxes of chocolate for Christmas. I just want to bin them!

I got some wireless headphones for the gym though so that's good. Planning to start back next week three evening. Dh is starting working in London full time so I think I'll welcome the break when he gets in. I'm planning a direct hand over as soon as he walks in three evenings a week and eating dinner after.

I'll be restarting slimming world eating too.

Archduke · 27/12/2016 20:32

Hi there, I went to my friends place and had a brilliant time - somehow I managed to sit right by the cheese so I ate it all. Also managed to get out and walk 3.5km with the kids handing on to our poorly behaved dogs, so my back is def recovering.

DH is out on his massive ride but we have huge storms here at the moment, massive winds and rainfall, I'm really worried about him. He rode 300km yesterday and intends to do the same today but honestly the weather is really dangerous.

Today is a quiet day at home (unless I have to pick up dh) so will try to avoid the chocolate Pannetone (sp?) - actually can you freeze that? - and just eat veggies.

Am envious of your fitbits - the kids got them for Xmas and I'm waiting for one of them to get bored of it so I can appropriate it. Mummy can you donate your xmas chocs somewhere? I'm sure someone (Old Peoples Home?) would be very appreciative.

QuimReaper · 27/12/2016 20:54

I'm very pleased with myself for having a fast day - I was this close 👌🏼 to heating up the huge portion of leftover pasta in the fridge because "I have a cold/ it's Christmas", but I allowed myself a few furtive cold forkfuls and forced myself to have my planned two hard boiled eggs and then see how I felt. Inevitably that stiffened my resolve and I made it out for a walk, almost 10K and my new FitBit says I've done over 14K over the day! Feeling too coldy for a swim though.

I do think it's a good strategy I've developed when battling a craving: I don't tell myself I can't have whatever-it-is, I tell myself to have something sensible first. Almost always transpires I'm just hungry and the boring thing takes care of it, and I find I don't "need" the thing I was craving after all. Not very helpful when you're craving chocolate buttons at 10pm but I find it a helpful tool nonetheless.

Morning!

Well done SlimQuim that's really impressive for this time of year.

The over eating continues here as it's the BF's birthday. We are going to the gym though.

Do we need to start thinking of a new thread title?

BitOutOfPractice · 28/12/2016 21:03

We've been thinking and the best we can up with is "yes we Canuary" Blush

OP posts:
Lorelei76 · 28/12/2016 23:24

I think that sounds a good title.
As someone who loses weight painfully slowly...I'm pleased to say I've lost 1.5lb this week but given I hopped on here in the first place because I'd gained five...! It's good though. I do think weekly weighing is going to be better for me otherwise I think I'm at risk of being demotivated.

BitOutOfPractice · 28/12/2016 23:34

Lorelei there should be some kind of medal for losing weight in Christmas week! StarHaloXmas Smile

Lorelei76 · 28/12/2016 23:51

Not really Bit, not for me anyway, different for people who celebrate it. it was hard not to do cheer up eating at my folks but I was there for two days, I don't know how they manage to have so much cake and stuff and stay slim!

Mummyreindeerlegz · 29/12/2016 15:43

I've got a two chubby cubs slimming world lasagna in the slow cooker. First go at it so I hope it's nice!

Walked nearly six miles yesterday. We were in London and had a good walk from hotel to tube and then all the station walking. We went to Kew last night and that was a lot of walking but lovely. I had a roast pork roll but no chips.

Lorelei76 · 29/12/2016 16:56

Mummy, i was cold just walking twenty minutes yesterday! I hate the cold though. How is Kew looking? I have a discount voucher.

Today I tried on the same style jeans in two sizes. The larger size was hanging off me, even from my huge arse and thighs...the smaller size was way too tight.

I wanted some black jeans but thinking, as I have a few regular pairs that fit fine, would I better dyeing one pair that fits? I don't know how black dye will take on a blue pair that's not a solid colour?

I also saw a lovely jacket but I'm starting to feel more hopeful about what size I can get down to so don't really want to spend a lot.

Chardonnay73 · 29/12/2016 17:33

Hello, can I join you? I've put my big girl pants on and joined WW online today. Just to prepare for The Day of Judgement on 2nd Jan Shock
I need to lose 3 stone. I've been faffing around with 1/2 stone on/off for 2 years now.
I've got three holidays this year and I want to be thin(er) for them.
Oh and Bit out of Practice is my best mate and fellow lover of wine, cheese and all things fun/bad for you....
Now she's done so well I have no intention of lying next to her on a sunbed in March unless I've lost some timber too....Grin
So. Here goes...

BitOutOfPractice · 29/12/2016 18:15

Chardonnay Xmas Grin hello hello! How lovely to see you here. We shall both be unrecognisable by March.

What plan will you be following? I think we've got a mixture here. Some 5:2ers, some MFP devotees, done Slimming World members

BitOutOfPractice · 29/12/2016 18:16

Lorelei that "between sizes" phase is so annoying. I haven't dyed any jeans since about 1987 but if I remember rightly the dye takes differently on the denim and the stitching

Chardonnay73 · 29/12/2016 18:27

I'm doing WW online, not brave enough for the meetings...
Just need to get my head in the right place - Once I start losing I'm in the zone, and the thrill of food is replaced by the thrill of losing weight. I find the first couple of weeks the hardest so will need lots of kicking up the arse 😂

Mummyreindeerlegz · 29/12/2016 18:30

L'Oréal we went to the Christmas display and it was gorgeous. All outside and lovely. It was cold but we all layered up and my north face arctic orka kept me warm.

Slow cooker healthy lasagna and peas was a nice dinner. Lots of veg :-)

Lorelei76 · 29/12/2016 18:34

Welcome along Chardonnay, you want a kick up the bum? Okay, no MN till you've run round the block twice Grin

Bit, I'm not really between sizes though I think sizing is crazy. I do think those jeans today were a major oddity, there's not meant to be that much between sizes. I've now tried four styles to get some new black ones, if I have a sudden woosh I'll regret buying new ones anyway so I think maybe I'll give up. I'm finding a lot of styles call themselves straight leg when they're skinny. But relaxed fit is often a euphemism for really baggy!

Lorelei76 · 29/12/2016 18:35

X post with mummy
You do the best typos Grin

My colleague went to the light thing last year and was disappointed so that's interesting.

Mummyreindeerlegz · 29/12/2016 18:40

Maybe I am easy to please, my 1 and 3 years old loved it. I love light installations and I thought it was very well done.

BitOutOfPractice · 29/12/2016 18:43

WW has always worked for me. In fact I still call calories "points"

Good luck with it. It'll be great to meet st the airport all thin and gorgeous

Oooooh welcome Chardonnay - a friend of BOOP's is a friend of mine!

I am very hungover. Yesterday was "Second Christmas" with my sis and her boyfriend. We got home at about 3am. I started drinking Prosecco whilst making vol-au-vents at about noon Xmas Blush

I thought I was doing pretty heroically food-wise, chicken breast for lunch and a huge plate of prawns for dinner (with rather too much Harissa mayo) but I'm about to have a mishap with the Christmas truffles. I just can't resist.

Lorelei that's AMAZING, that's a quarter of your gain smashed!

Lorelei76 · 29/12/2016 18:45

I like them too
He is easygoing at work but he had his ILs with him and I did wonder if it affected his view, they drive him bonkers.

Lorelei76 · 29/12/2016 18:46

Quim, thanks!
