I think we're ver ver posh on here, cos, coast, Hobbs, whistles, phase 8 - sugar how can you go home and not say "Penney's a fiver"😉 Oh Primark even!
I'm a walking disaster, totm, g&t on hand and nibbling like a dieter on a binge...tomorrow will be better?

Sugarandsalt · 13/01/2017 22:50

I never go to Primark but love Penneys when I'm home! The cos dress was £25 so won't break the bank! Hope everyone has a nice weekend planned.

Lolimax · 13/01/2017 23:07

Ohhhh I get to join in tomorrow, off to Cardiff with my Christmas vouchers. I need new tops for 'home' I'm fine for work wear.
I had my first session with my PT today. I wanted help with weights as I do loads of cardio and need toning. The good news is I can still walk! She was fab, apparently I'm her oldest client so far.

Needastrongone · 14/01/2017 08:27

How old are you Loli, if you don't mind me asking? An approximation is fine. Grin Good for you on the weights. I've never really done them before in any great capacity either. I was pretty darn sore after the first couple of sessions to be honest, but the difference in strength and tone is noticable already. I wish I had done it sooner, I really do.

Not Have you tried the graze boxes for days when the nibbles attack? I've just discovered them, they are on offer at present in various supermarkets. I find them very filling, surprisingly so when you look at the meagre contents!!! Also, I found Nak'd bars for the DC too, they are pretty nice. Just a thought. Smile

Just having a cuppa, a smoothie and then heading out for a long run. It's a stunning day here, still and cold, so I shall enjoy it.

7.6 this morning.

Hope Daw is okay.

Have lovely weekends folk too.

Lolimax · 14/01/2017 08:50

Morning! need I'm only (ahem) 47 so I was a little surprised. I'm feeling ok this morning, better than I thought I'd be. About to take my 2 sleepy hounds out for a long walk in the rain that should stretch the muscles out.
Have a lovely Saturday everyone!

JontyDoggle37 · 14/01/2017 09:55

Morning all. Yesterday is written off as food disaster. Having yucky cough cold and TOTM due is not helpful. Have done good plan and shopping list for the whole week today, so hopefully that will help me stay on track. Thankfully apart from last weekend's slip up I've also stuck to Dry January otherwise it could have been much worse. I didn't dare get on the scales this morning after what I've eaten the last two days. I keep saying 'today is a new day' and then getting to about five pm and eating the contents of the house. DH is out tonight, so as soon as DS is in bed (he's doing really well by the way) I'm going to hav dinner than go in the bath with a good book then straight to bed - that way I can't sit downstairs picking at food!

Not2bObvious · 14/01/2017 09:56

I was thinking that loli, you're only a slip of a girl! Your PT must recruit from the playground! As a sprightly 40+ (it's the + that rattles my cage) I know in my gym there's lots in my age group, a good many in their 50's, and a few in their 60's. One woman in her 60's does about 7 classes a week & is incredibly fit. She puts me to shame.
Feeling quite bad this morning, totm, bit hungover & had screaming row with himself last night. I was at absolutely at fault, no question on that but he was ott. And he knows it, didn't need me to tell him. All sincerely apologised for & forgiven, but still feeling quite down & tearful. It'll pass. No appetite so maybe that's my silver lining. I don't think I can get graze boxes in Ireland need, but I aldi do little graze style bags of varying nuts/seeds/dried fruit - I could attempt my own - thanks for the suggestion. Lying in bed sniffling, bloody hormones ain't helping. Sorry for the woe is me, just felt the need to get it out of my head.

Blimey Loli, I agree with the other wise folk here, that's not in the slightest bit old. I'm 45 in a week btw. I've seen my PT out walking with elderly ladies. I also agree with Not, at races there's a huge age range. The results get sorted into age category, so you can see where you've come in relation to folk your age and sex. Which is brilliant, and hugely motivating ('cos I win stuff usually when fit!!!). I'm really glad that we live in an age where age is no barrier to fitness and middle age is a fluid term.

Not that your PT probably meant anything by it, but I reckon that's unusual for sure her client mix.

Jonty, you've had a tough week, don't beat yourself up. The damage won't be bad and you will get back on track next week, promise.

Oh dear Not. Doesn't matter who was 'at fault', it's never nice to row with the OH. Yep. Aldi do brilliant bags and packets of stuff, as do Holland and Barrett. Dead easy to make your own. I just suggested, 'cos I know if I feel snacky, I feel less bad eating this stuff than crisps or choccies, physically and emotionally.

Done my 12 miles. Lovely day and enjoyed it. Had a smoothie pre run, an energy drink while running and chocolate milk, egg on toast as recovery food. On with the day now.

SesameSparkle · 14/01/2017 17:21

loli what others said, 47 ain't old. I've just recently edged into my 40s at the slimmest and fittest I've ever been.

need you get chocolate milk as recovery food.....? You make me want to up my milage...... Grin

I make my own snack boxes out of pre-weighed nuts and seeds. I even have a set of little containers for this purpose. 25g of nuts is 160cals, and I've often got one in my bag for work or when I'm out and about.

Sugarandsalt · 14/01/2017 19:12

Definitely not old at 47! Need I do like the graze boxes but generally have been trying to snack less these days. Glad you enjoyed your run. It's very icy here again. Jonty I agree- you've had an incredibly tough busy week so I wouldn't worry too much about a few bad days. Not it's horrible arguing- DH and I seldom do but it always knocks me for a few days.

I visited a friend today who served up a 3 course lunch. I've estimated my intake at 2000cals (had small portions). Will try pull it back tomorrow. Did an hour of good exercise and had a walk (7km) to try make dent in it.

Needastrongone · 14/01/2017 19:20

Sesame. I was coached once by an Olympic athlete. Won't go into the details. Chocolate milk and a banana post long run are a perfect combination for recovery fuel. I crave it as soon as I finish!

Sugar, I agree I'm not a massive snacker as I'm never all that starving. DC like them and they are good for those hungrier days. Plus, I don't want to lose much more so a healthy choice is required. Sometimes I don't realise I'm hungry until I eat then I realise I was!!

I'm in a posh hotel tonight. Had a lovely glass of red then having dinner.

JontyDoggle37 · 14/01/2017 19:21

** definitely not old at 47 - I reckon I'm going to be in my prime in my 40's and 50's - it's my 40th in July, yet another reason to shed the pounds as I'm going to have a massive party!!!
Bath I hope you're feeling ok after your stair acrobatics
Sugar your restraint at a 3 course meal is admirable
I've done pretty well today, mainly through being too busy to eat too much, and had an unexpected 30 minute workout de-icing the freezer 🙄. I haven't totted up the calories yet, but I feel like i should be there or thereabouts, I'll do that in a minute. Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday night and staying on track!

JontyDoggle37 · 14/01/2017 19:21

Dammit, first * should say Loli*!

Not2bObvious · 14/01/2017 19:23

Very little done today, got out for some food shopping but that was the extent of excitement for me. Haven't eaten a lot considering my low level hangover & high level totm hormones. Tired now. Hoping for a better day tomorrow. need your talk of running has me itching for a decent jog, something to get the endorphins up. If it's not too cold in the morning, I'll give it a go

JontyDoggle37 · 15/01/2017 07:24

Not I hope you're feeling better today after a good sleep it's no fun when you feel discombobulated and emotional all at once.
Kitchen closed on 1532 yesterday, which I'm really pleased with. Scales have been kind and told me 10st7.5 this morning so no damage from the last few days (not sure how but i'll take it!). Aiming for another on track day today, and a loss for tomorrow morning's scales. Dinner tonight will be quite calorie heavy (sausage, butternut squash, fennel seed and chilli risotto) so will review the food plan for the rest of today to make sure I'be got plenty available for dinner. Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Not2bObvious · 15/01/2017 07:39

Thanks jonty, yeah feeling a good bit better - haven't cried yet so that's an improvement on yesterday. Ended yesterday just shy of 1800 which was fine considering. No idea what to have today, was thinking of doing slow cooker beef but struggling with the thoughts of the prep. Day is stretching longgg in front of me, up an hour, first wash of the day on and a lot of ironing in my future! I did so little yesterday I'll need to play catch up unless I want to go into next week with a tip heap. Might take myself off to the shops for an hour before I start the mundane stuff as I need to buy a baby present, that might cheer me up.

OP posts:
JontyDoggle37 · 15/01/2017 08:45

Not you could do the timer thing? Set yourself twenty minutes to do as much as you can of ironing/food prep and then go out as a reward, then do another twenty mins when you get back then lunch break, then another twenty mins then a cuppa, etc. Good way to get moving without felling overwhelmed by things. Hope you feel a bit brighter soon Flowers.
I've calculated my dinner, it's 690, and the lunch I'd planned is 500 too, so breakfast is just 2 boiled eggs and no snacks all day!

Not2bObvious · 15/01/2017 08:53

That's a good idea jonty, I'll give it a go. I've gone off the idea of shopping but with my mood the way it is, I could change my mind again. No brainwaves at all for food - didn't eat until after 12 yesterday, could be the same today

OP posts:
Sugarandsalt · 15/01/2017 09:47

Jonty your risotto sounds delicious. I love risotto. Not lots of tidying to be done here too- had great plans to declutter today but motivation seems lost! DH forced me to have a glass of wine last night so finished the day well over. I'm currently cuddled up with my 2year old watching Frozen.

Boring day planned here- some tidying, trip to shoe shop with DD. Will pay extortionate prices no doubt. Had porridge for breakfast, will have leftovers for lunch (butternut squash, chickpea and spinach pie) then a roast chicken dinner (I'll just have a tbsp of stuffing and no potatoes) so should come in around 1400calories for the day.

Not2bObvious · 15/01/2017 11:11

Yeah my decluttering plans have also ground to a halt sugar, I still want to, I just can't be bothered too.
Still haven't moved off the couch or eaten. I need a rocket up my bum. Not a clue what to make for lunch, have decided himself can deal with the mind feckery of what to buy for the weekly shop. See how much he enjoys trying to keep everyone happy

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 15/01/2017 13:52

Not. [flowers}. You sound really down. Are you okay? Would a gentle walk do any good? Some fresh air?

Jonty The risotto does sound lovely. I do one with fennel and prawn, which is delicious and healthy. Fennel is an underrated vegetable I think.

Sugar You pie sounds equally delicious.

Well, we are back from our night away and I've already done 3 loads of washing, mopped the floor and put all our stuff away. Just having a snack, then I will put some stuff on Ebay.

The hotel was lovely, and we ate plenty (and drank more......), including a wonderful cheese board and port in this amazing library after dinner. But that's why I eat well the rest of the time. Resisted a cooked breakfast and had all bran, yogurt and fresh fruit.

Brekkie - All Bran, fruit, yoghurt.
Lunch - carrot sticks and humus, Nak'd bar. Not hungry.
Dinner - Roast chicken dinner.

I've also menu planned for the week, which I find useful to keep on track and organised while working.
Monday - JO fish bake.
Tuesday - sweet potato fish cakes and veggies.
Wednesday - carrot and orange soup.
Thursday - bacon and egg (busy night!!).
Friday - Chilli and rice.
Saturday - JO 'proper' chicken nuggets, sweet potato wedges, veg.
Sunday - Shepherds pie.

I've got a few alternatives too, in case plans or tastes change!!

I might or might not run today. I've done 30 miles this week, 2 classes and a PT session. I'll probably try to increase to 32 next week. Gentle increases.

Hope everyone is okay and looking forward to the week ahead.

Needastrongone · 15/01/2017 13:55

*Sorry, I'm on the phone and there are errors.

Needastrongone · 15/01/2017 14:29

Not going to run CNBA. Grin

Needastrongone · 15/01/2017 18:05

Will finish the day well under, as I haven't been at all hungry and logged everything very strictly anyway.

Spent the afternoon organising and planning which is always good for the soul. Smile

Looking forward to increasing training slightly tomorrow, just a touch. I love having a plan and a purpose.
