Evening. Another one with a busy day too. But a strangely not hungry one, it's weird isn't it Loli. I ran 10 hard miles yesterday but not hungry today. I will be randomly hungry later in the week. Lovely long walk yesterday, 8.5 miles is brill.

Sesame You have returned the favour (sort of!), as I have bought almond milk for the first time in ages. Smile

Jonty Today is a new day, only it's not as it's nearly 8pm, but it was at some point, and you will get back on track.

Not Thank you for the congratulations. Your meal plan sounds lovely.

Glad you've had fun on holiday Bath, I'm sorry you've been so busy though.

Brekkie - egg on toast and coffee.
Lunch - edamame bean salad, M&S cherry and cashew mix (130 cal).
Dinner - small portion of nut roast, one organic free range sausage, steamed broccoli, steamed carrots, small baked potato, parsnips roasted with Fry-lite, gravy.
Snacks - small glass of wine, one chocolate.

Cals - 1550, amazing what you can eat if it's generally all good stuff.
Exercise - 4 miles with the dogs but no running. 17,000 steps in total.

Going to have a bath with Epsom salts and read my book. Smile

Sugarandsalt · 09/01/2017 20:49

Well done Loli I bet the haematologist was delighted! And well done to mr Loli for managing 8miles after ill health and steroids. Need your dinner sounds lovely, may I ask what nut roast recipe you use?

I made it home. Thankfully. An overground train followed by a 6km walk, mostly uphill. 23000 steps. 1250 cals in, but may have a snack before bed.

JontyDoggle37 · 10/01/2017 06:09

Morning all. Thanks everyone for the encouragement to get back on track. It worked until yesterday afternoon when I got called home because my little boy has picked up a vomiting bug and was throwing up at nursery. By the time I'd been thrown up over and had him clung to me all afternoon I didn't feel like cooking and DH had to work late as he's having to take today off to look DS, so we ended up Ruth fish and chips takeaway. Ho hum. Anyway, the scales this morning are still saying I've dropped two pounds and am back down to 10st8, so how that happened I don't know but I'all take it 😁.im going to need all my Altoona today for good energy food and coffee as we were up most of the night with DS, including a 2am ambulance visit because he was throwing even water and going a bit limp. Thankfully the sight of. A lady paramedic with beeping machines brought him round, and we even managed to get him to keep a few sips of water down and go back to sleep. There is not enough makeup for how tired I look today. Now just to wait and see if we catch the vomiting bug too - at least it will help with the diet I suppose!🙄😁😳

JontyDoggle37 · 10/01/2017 06:25

Sugar for the core workout I do a short warmup then five sets of 'strength plus abs' which is one strength exercise and one abs exercise, repeated twice to make a set:
warmup
20 x jumping jacks
20 x arm windmills
Then:
10 push-ups
10 normal stomach crunches
Repeat
Then 10 plank jacks (get in plank position, then do jumping jacks in and out sideways with your feet)
Then 10 stomach crunches diagonally to right knee and 10 to left knee
Repeat
Then 10 squat thrusts
Then 10 leg raises (lay on your back, legs out straight, pull your stomach muscles down to the floor then raise your leg straight up and down about 6" without letting your stomach muscles Release), on each leg
Repeat
Then 10 plank knee raises (plank position, bring one knee up under you to our chest and put it back, then the other knee, without losing your plank position)
Then 10 crunches with your legs bicycling in the air at the same time
Repeat
Then a simple plank for a count of twenty
Then 10 abs arm raises - on your back, pull stomach muscles into the floor, raise your arms backwards over your head to the floor and back up to vertical again without letting your stomach muscles go.
Repeat
Then do 5-10 minutes of stretches, especially for your back, arms and shoulders, and your quads.
Good luck!

Oh jonty, your poor little boy! Poor you, I remember one of mine going limp
& I nearly died. I rang the ambulance & could barely get the words out. I hope he's much better today, just keeping the hydration up will be a good start

OP posts:
Sugarandsalt · 10/01/2017 08:02

Jonty poor little boy, and poor you. It's horrible when they are so sick. We had 2 months straight of illness after illness when DD started nursery and I nearly cracked. Thankfully it passes and apart from colds and mild coughs she's been fine since then. Be kind to yourself today, allow yourself to snack on the good (healthy) stuff even if it brings up your calories.

Period arrived here today, took a half pound with it. Working late so won't get any specific exercise done, but will aim to walk at least 15k steps.

Not2bObvious · 10/01/2017 08:18

Tales from the scales, down to 11.64 from 11.8 - I hope that sticks for a few days and it isn't a flux. I've just realised my sniffles/snuffles are much reduced so hurrah, just about back to normal. Only in work til 2 then home, I find those days hard. Too many hours between lunch and dinner. Same breakfast as yesterday (bacon, egg, toast) leftover shepards pie for lunch, sfc pieces with a few chips if I have enough in the bank, with salad if I don't. Working to keep as close to 1200 for the next 3 days. I need to drink more water today, and I need to get some steps in. Took an age to get to sleep last night which I put down to lack of physical tiredness.

OP posts:
Bathsheba3 · 10/01/2017 11:42

Hurrah Not! Make sure you keep it there, and keep it going down and down. We WILL be in the 10s sooner rather than later.

Your poor boy Jonty, and poor you too. What a worry. Hope the bugs don't head your way. Your abs routine sounds hardcore. Once I clear backlog of work, washing and tidying up I'll get back into the routine again, and take lead from you, and some energy from Need!

What a relief Loli on your results - am sure so much is down to you taking control of yourself, & your nutrition. Perhaps your poor DH overdid it - but great that your positivity is rubbing off on him too!

Hope you have some very comfortable shoes sugar! You never cease to amaze me with your daily step count.

I'm down to 11 7 today, and again don't know how that happened, as had fish'n'chip takeaway last night - long story - and lots of wine too. I'll pay for it later this week I'm sure!

Chicken salad for lunch. DC's requested pie for dinner (shop bought, obviously!) so I'll have the contents and leave the pasty bit. Well, that's the plan Wink

Sugarandsalt · 10/01/2017 11:55

Bath yesterday's step count was heavily influenced by the tube strike!

Jonty I forgot to thank you for the routine. Although it may actually kill me!!

Not well done on the weight loss!

What's on everyone's menus today?

I had porridge for breakfast. Have a courgetti+tahini salad for lunch, with some chicken. Dinner is to be Nasi Goreng.

SesameSparkle · 10/01/2017 12:34

loli aw, that’s great to get such a good reaction from your medical appt Star

need I also bought a carton of almond milk to try in my porridge once the coconut water is finished. Smile

jonty sorry to hear about your wee boy, fingers crossed he’s on the mend now. You will have abs of steel following a routine like that. I can’t even do 1 press up ….

sugar well done on all those steps!

not yay for the loss! Good work counting those cals!

bath well done for the lb, amazing! Star

After the successes of Sunday, yesterday was out of control. I managed to resist all of the office treats until 4.45pm. I came out of a meeting feeling peckish, polished off my own healthy portion controlled pouch of nuts, then went over to the treat table looking for more… Then after my evening class, I went home and ate up all of my planned 500cal leftover dinner, then continued to eat…. Finished the day close to 2,700 - 1000 cals over! Shock. Will have to get back on it. Continuing to hang round here and get inspired by all of you lot will hopefully help.

Bathsheba3 · 10/01/2017 14:03

Oh dear Sesame - but what's done is done. Do you know why you got the munchies? Particularly bad day? Someone annoy you? Stressful work? You are doing brilliantly. Next time you feel like that, come on here, let us know what's going on / what you are about to derail with, and am sure one of us will be around and talk you out of it, & tell you to make a cuppa instead.

And I think you may need to rename the treat table at work as the sabotage spread. Avoid & walk past a stronger woman easier said than done I know

Not2bObvious · 10/01/2017 14:22

Some days are just hungrier than others sesame and if you're faced with temptation it can be hard to resist, speaking from bitter bitter experience. Anyway you're in maintenance now (you are aren't you, sorry if I'm wrong), people who aren't overweight eat more some days but it's the longer term pattern that matters.
Feeling a bit picky now but I'm controlling it...dammit😉

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 10/01/2017 15:39

Bath's idea about coming on here in moments of temptation, for whatever reason, is brilliant Sesame. I am not a comfort or boredom eater myself, but I think I can understand it a little, and I will always try to support as best I can. Smile

Sugar It was a Jamie Oliver recipe from an old magazine otherwise I would link to the nut roast recipe. The BBC Good Food website definitely have a few great ones too. Lots of steps there, well done!

Jonty How's your little DS? It's such a scary thing isn't it when they are ill? They get so much stuff when they are little, which they have to do really, but it's not a nice time for them or us while they go about building up their immune system.

Not Good stuff about the weight. I usually finish work about the same time and see it as an opportunity to exercise rather than eat iyswim? So, I grab the dogs and walk until 3.30pm (dogs not a necessity to walk, but walking the dogs is a necessity!), come back, grab a cuppa and sort tea, washing, vacuum round, greet the kids, have a MN time. Then, go for a run if I haven't already. Burns the calories and saves the munchies!

I've had a day off and been busy. Cracked on with household stuff. Then I have done a Cardio and Core class, met my friend and we ran 6 miles. Grabbed the dogs and then walked for 4 miles more. So lots of exercise for me.

Food.

Breakfast - bagel, fruit and yogurt (big brekkie and doing a class and a run).
Lunch - A lovely smoothie made with almond milk, banana, blueberries, some porridge oats and half a teaspoon of cocoa powder. Small piece of cheese.
Dinner - beef stir fry (veggies are peppers, mange tout, carrot, onion), rice.
Snack - wine.

Bathsheba3 · 10/01/2017 16:19

snack = wine Grin

Needastrongone · 10/01/2017 16:45
Grin
Not2bObvious · 10/01/2017 17:20

I'd love to do that after work need but I've the children to mind, they're with me 3 days after school (I'm making that sound like I'm sharing custody! My dad minds then 2 days) however there are some times coming up - putting them into an after school class once a week from next week & when the weather gets better I'll get them out with me for a walk. I'll walk the kids, you can walk the dogs😉 I want to get back into my exercising - starting Zumba tomorrow night.
Not doing to bad, couple of choccie coins snuck in but I have room for them...I thinkHmm

OP posts:
Needastrongone · 10/01/2017 17:23

Ah, of course. I am so far into the high school stage I forget that I have that freedom again and others have younger children, how stupid of me! I'm thinking of my own circumstances, sorry about that. Smile

SesameSparkle · 10/01/2017 17:49

bath I feel like an idiot really, yes yesterday was a whole mix of boredom, not wanting to be back at work, temptation, and just enjoying the sensation of putting something in my mouth that tastes good….. Other than the last 3 years, I’ve spent my whole life being big. I’ve never been able to self-regulate my weight (below a size 20 anyway…), and so I’m worried that the only thing I have to stop me gaining again is my self-control – and that’s not something that can always be relied upon. Yesterday started with some crisps, left over from our office Xmas pre-do drinks. You’ve got it spot on there – it is the sabotage table.

not you’re right, yesterday was a hungry day. Even once home, I didn’t want to regulate myself in response to the earlier binge. I wanted to carry on eating a nice meal, plus some healthy afters, and a small bit of dark chock and popcorn. But you are also right – part of maintaining will have to be recognising that I will eat more on some days and less on others. It’s just that I’ve been trying to stick to eating 15-1600, every day since April and it’s really hard to move on from that to a normal and fluctuating amount.

need thanks, I will definitely try to post on here, instead of dipping my paws in… Wink

Not2bObvious · 10/01/2017 18:38

I've a few years to go before they're both out longer hours need, but I'm looking forward to it😉 I'm really lucky at the moment, only working 30'ish hours a week - tbh after years of 40+ hours, travelling to the uk every month, phone never off, it's quite a change. I'm a year at my career change but still feels odd. And you'd think I'd be on top of the housework but no, the more time I have the lazier I've become. But I am going to turn it around this year.
sesame I think you're doing great, trust yourself, you're not going back to being big - you've got this😘

JontyDoggle37 · 10/01/2017 20:33

Evening all. Today is a diet day off. I'm sat in hospital, beside my 20 month old sons bed, with him wired to a drip. He's dehydrated with a severe throat/eye infection and seemingly a stomach bug on top of that (he can't keep any food down at all). My husband took him to the GP this morning, who sent them straight to hospital, I came back from work and he was admitted straight away. Praying the drip is going to work miracles and get him back to being able to eat and drink properly. He's so poorly. I feel like we've failed as parents, not being able to stop him ending up like this. Food today has been hospital coffee shop choices and McDonalds, although if worry shifts pounds I could be onto a winner...

Lolimax · 10/01/2017 20:34

Evening all! Waves from (not snowing yet) Wales! sesame we can do this. I've also been big for a long time and wake up surprised every morning that I haven't put the weight back on! I worry about how I'm going to maintain the 'new me!'.
needI'm in absolute awe of you running like you do!
not I have to say it's great having small children but SO MUCH better when they grow up! My 'babies' are 19 and 20 and I love my independence! That makes me sound like a selfish cow ha ha!
bath how was the pie?
jonty and sugar I hope your little ones are ok.
Just back from Zumba. It was fab tonight. A boring tea of Quorn sausages and veg. An early night for me or I'll back back in the kitchen seeking nicer food!

Needastrongone · 10/01/2017 20:40

Oh Jonty You poor love. I'm so sorry. Your poor DS. You haven't failed. Both have mine have been there, DS in particular. The NHS is a miracle worker, the drip with fluid and antibiotics will kick in so soon. Small folk bounce back so quickly too, it's amazing. Diet isn't important.

Enjoy your career change Not. I'm about those hours too, dependent on need, sometimes more and sometimes less.

I closed the kitchen on 1788, but did a lot of exercise and have nearly 700 excess tonight.

Sugarandsalt · 10/01/2017 20:48

Sesame I agree with Not; as long as you stay mindful of what you eat and keep track of your weight you will keep in check.

Jonty you poor thing. Of course you haven't failed him, you got him medical attention. I hope he's doing better, kids bounce amazingly.

I've had a very hungry day. On my way home, and on 900cals so far, have planned a 600cal dinner though and don't have time to make something different. On 13000 steps, will do another 2000 or so getting home so that might undo some damage!

Not2bObvious · 10/01/2017 20:54

Oh jonty, poor little man is going through the wars. The drip will help greatly, you are not a failure - you did everything right, getting him to the gp etc. The feeling of powerless'ness is so frightening, but he'll bounce back & be running about in a week I'm sure

OP posts:
Lolimax · 10/01/2017 21:10

Oh no! we must have cross posted jonty. You haven't failed as parents. They don't come with a manual these kids of ours and we can't see into the future. Please be kind to yourself. My own DS was born with 2 holes in his heart so I completely understand the feeling of helplessness. He's the 19 year old who just came back from Australia so have faith.
