The No S Diet [title edited by MNHQ]

I've decided that I finally need to commit to losing my baby weight. I have 2 stone (ideally more to lose). But will just take it half a stone at a time. I am not really into crazy diets. So I've gone for the 's' diet which is basically eat sensibly diet! No snacks, seconds or 'sweets' (includes cakes etc ) except on days beginning with s (weekends and special days). So three meals a day basically. Does anyone want to join me or be my supporter? I lost 1.5 lb the first week, but then gained 0.3. Next weigh in is Monday and today I was 2.5lb lighter so I'm hoping I will have lost something. I am piling up a bit on the meals but figure that I need that to stick to it at the moment. Hopefully as I adjust I can make the meals smaller/healthier too. Looking forward to the weekend for a pudding and some wine!

Haha I'm guaranteed to answer to that Grin
I freeze 3 bananas chopped up.
Put them in a blender , add a tbsp of sugar and a tbsp of cocoa powder (both heaped) and a good splash of milk. Leave for 10-15 minutes then blitz. It's the texture of a McDonald's milkshake but tastes so much nicer.

That's for 3 good glasses full.

twofloorsup · 09/02/2017 07:32

When I gave up smoking I used to dream that is had a sneaky cigarette and ruined it all.
Last night I had a dream that someone handed me a chocolate cake and I bit it , realised I'm doing no S and had to find someone to palm it off on Grin
Nearly 7 weeks of doing this and I'm losing the plot !
Have a good day all.

beela · 09/02/2017 11:35

My dm is eating a giant chocolate truffle in front of me and I have just turned down the offer to share. Willpower I never knew I had!

This is a total revaluation to me GrinGrin

twofloorsup · 09/02/2017 14:46

Nice work beela Smile
I've just git in from work so 7.5 hours since breakfast and I'm very grateful for the extra portion of risotto I made last night !

twofloorsup · 09/02/2017 14:50

*got not git Grin

AristonAndOn · 10/02/2017 08:06

That's a long time to wait between breakfast and the next meal!

twofloorsup · 10/02/2017 08:19

It's horrendous !
I eat then go to work. I only work 5 hours so don't get a break and I go in an hour early to avoid sitting in traffic for an hour.
No way round it unfortunately hence the big fat porridge every morning.

AristonAndOn · 10/02/2017 09:46

Well that's very good to wait that long. I only wait 4 hrs and then 6 hrs to dinner which I struggle with. Porridge is a winner though, however I was miffed this morning when I found all the. I'll was used up,no bread either so had scrambled egg and yoghurt!

beela · 10/02/2017 10:25

I need to sort out my gap between lunch and dinner. Sometimes I eat lunch at 12ish and then dinner not until after the DC have gone to bed, around 8.00 Shock but if I ever want to eat with DH then it can't really be helped. I find I can get through it with an emergency glass of milk at around 6.30 though.

I think I need to try and push lunch later. Will try and convince my 2yo!

Scrambled egg is good ariston - lots of protein to keep you full up. I had homemade granola with lots of nuts in, and full fat milk. Yummy.

twofloorsup · 10/02/2017 15:15

Ooh home made granola !!
I've not eaten that for years cos I used to binge on it but with no S rules I think I'd be ok with it now Smile

beela · 10/02/2017 17:45

Do it twofloorsup! I use the recipe in nigella's feast book but I just throw in whatever nuts and seeds I have in the cupboard.

I started making it because I watched a documentary about how they make breakfast cereal and it put me right off the shop bought stuff!

twofloorsup · 10/02/2017 19:15

I'm making it at work as a pudding next week so will see how it turns out.

AristonAndOn · 10/02/2017 22:33

I'm worried about the coming week. It's half term, my husband has booked time off and my routine will be gone. I am very busy in the week and that keeps me on track. My dh likes to chill and stay in and I can never relax and doing nothing makes staying away from god harder. I'm hoping my 5 wks on plan will be strong enough to see me through, but I know just one slip up can totally destroy my progress. Perhaps the flexibility of this plan will stop that from happening?

AristonAndOn · 10/02/2017 22:34

Staying away from food, not god!!! I wish there was an edit button 😳

PosiePootlePerkins · 10/02/2017 22:46

Ariston I bet you will surprise yourself. I started at the beginning of October and had a half term at the end of the month, like you I was worried about being out of routine but actually it was fine. I think that I was so determined to not undo all of the hard work and progress, that I just managed to stay on track. Remind yourself that you are still able to eat three lovely meals, you can spend time preparing them, perhaps moreso than when you're working, and you can chill out doing whatever you fancy. Also you have two weekends each end to have some treats. Its only five days when it comes down to it. You're definitely strong enough to do 5 days.
I have just rediscovered jigsaw puzzles! I know that sounds a bit sad, but because I eat early, I find my evenings a bit long sometimes, and whereas I used to snack in the evenings, now I am enjoying chilling out with a jigsaw and some TV! Its actually really relaxing and enjoyable and I feel so much better for not eating late.
Anyway my point is, when you find things to do which give you pleasure other than eating, its a bit of a revelation!

AristonAndOn · 10/02/2017 23:02

Thanks for the wonderful advice and support. I'm so worried as I've been determinedly in a plan before and then it has gone horribly wrong. Want this to be for life this time. When off a plan my life seemed to revolve around food, I couldn't possibly see how I could be happy without scoffing everything! Finding other joys is fantastic! I think it's great doing jigsaws. I'm using a fit bit and finding myself working hard so I can burn calories. I need to find a non body changing hobby as I'm sure it doesn't help me. Thanks again 💐

twofloorsup · 11/02/2017 07:28

Ariston I'm off at half term too , ours starts the 20th. I have so much to do that I don't think it will be a problem but I totally get what you mean. I think I will have a later breakfast so the other mealtimes stay the same , then it shouldn't be too difficult when I go back to work. This is a massive support being able to chat on here , as for the first time ever I'm not boring friends and family with my latest crazy diet Grin

PosiePootlePerkins · 11/02/2017 07:34

No problem Ariston just come back and post if you need supportSmile
Twofloorsup yes I agree, so good to have an understanding group of people here, I have only just started telling colleagues about NoS as I have now lost just over a stone, and they didn't even know I was doing it! And I haven't had a single biscuit from the box in the staffroom since the beginning of October. Just goes to show how well this diet fits in with life.
Have a great weekend everyone.

twofloorsup · 11/02/2017 07:56

It really does Posie , no making excuses about anything , it just feels like it's how it's meant to be if that makes sense !

Roundisashape · 11/02/2017 08:44

Good morning everyone. Lots of encouraging reading I did quite well this week, but it would appear Fridays are going to take some work to get under control. I can see the benefit in how it works.

I am also a little concerned about half term. My DC's have hollow legs. They eat giant dinners then asked for a bagel 5 mins later 🙄! Difficult to be restrained around them.

twofloorsup · 11/02/2017 08:50

Morning Round.
My little people eat all day every day it drives me mad !

PosiePootlePerkins · 11/02/2017 08:59

I never really thought about how many snacks my DSs have throughout the day before I started NoS. I guess I am guilty of creating that situation. I am trying to do a bit of gentle 'dinner won't be long, you don't need anything right now' but it's difficult when all you have in your ear is 'I'm hungry!'

twofloorsup · 11/02/2017 11:32

I actually let mine please themselves when it comes to food because my mum was of the "three meals no snacks and no sugar " mindset which I believe led to me being obsessed with food and a complete binge eater !

Odd that I've come full circle and right back round to her way of thinking.
It appears she was right after all !

PosiePootlePerkins · 11/02/2017 11:49

Its that difficult balance isn't it. I was put on a diet aged 12 and swore I would never do the same to my children. I try hard to encourage a healthy balance between sensible meals and treats, but who knows if I'm getting it right?Confused

Roundisashape · 11/02/2017 11:59

To be fair my 2 are non stop on the go. I truly have no idea where they get the energy!! It is little wonder they are always hungry.

I suppose I was quite fortunate growing up. I was a skinny as a rake. And ate anything I wanted. Probably why it has been such a shock to the system this last 10 years! My realisation that those days are gone is exceptionally miserable Sad.

In fact I would have to chop off a leg to get back to those days, and that is a little excessive even for me Grin.
