OMG, I can't keep up with this thread - seems to be so many new people. Welcome!
First few days are hell (but you probably know that already by now), you just really need to grit your teeth and get through the first week.

Luciemule - I'm going to pull my stern face at you - stop nibbling, you are only making it harder for yourself . It's not about the calories (they probably don't amount to that much), it's that there is a danger of knocking yourself out of ketosis and having to go through that crap stage - and not be in fat-burning mode! Ok sermon over - I know it is very hard, but try and think of it as a very very temporary stage in your life.

I have only lost 2lbs this week - a bit disappointing but I think everyone will have at least one lousy week, if not more. I was lighter yesterday even so must be retaining water for some reason. That makes me 11st 4.75lbs, so 5lbs away from a healthy bmi. On the positive side as well, my horrible 'back fat' has just about all gone - I had loads! So back to gritting my teeth for another week.

I now have a target though. Dh and I are going away alone for the first time ever since having children nearly 6 years ago! Have booked a lovely looking hotel in Berkshire on Easter Saturday so I would love to be able to wear a pretty frock and high heels (I never wear heels). Ooh, have got myself all excited now.

Good luck all...

catsmother · 20/02/2007 15:08

Well, week 10 weigh-in today and I could scream.

Have been "good" all week, and have been forcing water down far more often (though not to the extent that some of you seem able to) and, guess what, apparently I am the same as last week !

Feel really down ...... when I started this, I was full of how wonderful it was blah blah blah but the last couple of weeks have only shown a 2lb loss per week (achievable on diets where you can eat food) and now this !

Counsellor says that my body needs to "catch up" ... which I'm not sure I fully understand, but she reckons that if I measure myself all over I should notice a drop in inches (haven't done that yet). She also said it's quite common to plateau when you've lost a significant amount and appear to get "stuck" for a few weeks, but that logic dictates if you're eating a VLCD, the weight will shift sooner or later and she'd be very surprised if I didn't lose again next week.

Has anyone who'd been doing this for a while noticed a similar phenomenum ??? ..... it's one thing to drink nasty shakes and be utterly bored, with good results, but to lose nothing is so disheartening.

Thing is, I have recently weighed myself at home and I thought I'd lost 3lbs this week according to my own scales. So now I'm wondering - are her scales wrong, or are mine ? Either way, am feeling pretty fed up.

Just popping in to say bye. I'm afraid after only one day I am holding my hands up and saying "it's too hard".
Have decided to go back to calorie counting, as that worked for me in the past.
I wish you all the very best, you have a lot more willpower than I do!

moonshine · 20/02/2007 15:15

Catsmother - you and me are going through a similar stage then, although this is my first really crap week . The laws of science dictate that you must be losing 'fat', if not actual weight, considering how few calories we are consuming. I seem to remember that you weren't drinking much water, so really upping that should help? Definitely measure yourself as well. I remember reading somewhere that everyone loses weight on these VLCD, but not in a nice even trajectory. It's gotta happen! What is your bmi now then - is it almost at bmi 25? It definitely slows down when you get to that.

moonshine · 20/02/2007 15:16

ForcesSweetheart - we're probably just a bit crazier than you! Good luck with whatever plan you do next.

Devonshire · 20/02/2007 20:31

good evening! have just been to my "lady" to get more packs for next week and like you rebi, i have lost 7lbs in 6 days. and i too was taking 4 a day but have come away with only 3 this time, i feel i can manage without, esp if i halve the bars etc. do you have the same to lose as me i wonder, about 5 stones?
i have those fat, water, weight measuring scales at home and so far they show that i seem to have lost 1.5% fat and gained 1% water so the idea that the first week is just water weight, as some meanies in RL have suggested to me, may not be true.
i think that those of you who have been on this for a while deserve a sainthood, it's just so dull! and for all those comfort eating moments, it's just a kick in the teeth, i keep thinking, oh, later i will have a nice big tub of ice-cream but oh-no, i will have a vile tasting shake and ten squiliion litres of water. YUM!!
but still, here we are we have made this decision so here goes week 2...i just hope i get some energy, i feel weak as a kitten despite being in ketosis for days. does that pass??

Madoldcatlady · 20/02/2007 21:51

Hey, Sis! I just want to tell you how proud I am off you.

You are doing brilliantly. I know I couldn't do it.

Keep up the fab work.xx

Madoldcatlady · 20/02/2007 21:52

Of you of course, not off!!

luciemule · 21/02/2007 09:30

Moonshine - thank you for putting on your stern face - I needed it to make me choose to continue! My mum and sister had their stern faces on down the phone too! Last night, you see, I caved in and when the kids refused to eat the lovely meal I'd cooked, I couldn't throw it away and ate it all (including the bit that was going to be left for one of them today)!
I felt so guilty I almost made myself sick but that would've been a bit stupid.
However, when I checked ketosis at midnight, it was pale pink - would there be a lag time to catch up with the food I'd eaten (bearing in mind that I only had one shake yesterday morning).
It's weigh in today and I'm expecting harsh results and that I won't have lost the 3lbs needed to make a stone in a month. Oh well, was supposed to be my add a meal week from today but might ask to carry on for another week on SS. What do you reckon?

bendigoblue · 21/02/2007 12:22

Hi Ladies,

Haven't been on for a few days, it's manic here! We're having the boys baptised on sunday so my family and friends are descending and much cleaning needs to be done!

I've also had an assignment for my OU course to write so that's been taking my time up too!

Weigh in today and lost another 4lbs, taking my total to 34lbs in 6 weeks. Can't believe i'm on day 43 already, if I was doing LL i'd be halfway to my 100 days almost lol.

I've just spent the morning going through my clothes drawers putting stuff that's too big into a bag for charity, i'm never wearing it again! There was loads of it, and the best thing is, I also went through my pile of clothes that used to be too small and loads of it fits again so i've got some great clothes i'd forgotten all about!

Glad to see so many of us still plodding on! Lucie, i'm going to give you my stern face too lol, I don't see why your counsellor wouldnt let you sole source for another week though so fingers crossed!

Right, back to cleaning!

Gemma x

luciemule · 21/02/2007 12:27

Hello everyone - well amazingly, I lost 2lbs! My counsellor was fine and said everyone has really bad weeks sometimes. She told me to SS for another week which I'm glad about. So here I go...........
Well done everyone else and I am so glad I found this thread otherwise I'd have had no idea how hard it is for everyone else sometimes.

Devonshire · 21/02/2007 16:22

well done luciemule, it goes to show that you CAN get back on the wagon after a wobble and still see great results! you must be feeling very pleased!
bendigoblue, how have you got so far on this??? i can't even imagine the next day, let alone being on this diet for 40+ days. how are you feeling physically, are you fatigued or have you got the fabled energy rush in order to do all that cleaning?? it must be very motivating to get into old smaller clothes, i just feel i have so far to go - it;s tough
its not the hunger or need for food that is making me feel so challenged, just this sodding lethargy. i could curl up and go to sleep now but i have 2 dcs, 3 and 4, and an 8 wk old puppy so its not an option..
sorry for moaning, i will not give up but i may just die trying!!
ps. madoldcatlady, thanks for the support - 8lbs in a week, woo-hoo!

luciemule · 21/02/2007 16:36

hi Devonshire - you're doing really well - when is your weigh in? Is it Friday?
There are so many highs then lows - my worst days are just after I've been weighed as then I think "I've got a whole week until she weighs me again" so it's not so important if I cheat for a few days and then start again. I'm fed up with feeling so euphoric one minute then complete guilt the next as I've nicked a bit of the kids tea!

Devonshire · 21/02/2007 16:42

luciemule, i saw my lady last night but bizarrely, she doesn't weigh me, i have to do it myself! i weighed this am as that was a week after i began and am 8lbs lighter than when i began. cool! only another 5 stone to go...
i think i am going to be like you, really happy at the weight off but feeling that the next week is a long time...maybe we really should take one day at a time?!
so have you been on this about a month? how much more do you want to lose? (sorry if all this is lower down the thread, my jelly brain can't cope with scrolling!)

luciemule · 21/02/2007 16:57

Hi - I'm now into my 5th week and I weighed 12.10 to begin with and want to get down to 10 exactly - although if my thighs still look like tree trunks (my nick-name at school)I shall probably try 9.7. For a healthy BMI of about 23, 10 stone would be right for me. My problem is really my bum and thighs as I'm already quite small up top. It's devastating as I lost another cm from my boobs today (I nearly cried!) When I lie on my back - there's nothing there!
Really strange how your lady doesn't weigh you. Do you have good scales at home? Mine haven't moved since I began the diet so think they might be broken - I was keeping them in the bottom of the airing cupboard so maybe the heat's effected them!
Also, do you know, should your skin catch up with the fat loss or will my thighs always look wobbly even though they're thinner? Have an exercise bike - perhaps I should use it more!

bendigoblue · 21/02/2007 17:01

Devonshire - It's really true what everyone keeps saying, once you get past the first few weeks without cheating, its a doddle! Well, maybe doddle is a bit optomistic, its easier any rate! They reckon it takes 21 days to form a habit, so if you sole source for 21 days, you should be used to it and it becomes just 'what you do' so to speak!

I weigh myself too, it got silly going to see the cdc at different times of the day, with different amounts of water inside me. So now I get up on wednesday morning, go for a wee, and weigh myself, least that way I know its accurate!

I definately have more energy now, rarely feel hungry either, some days I forget all about packs until the evening! I know at the beginning it feels like that is impossible but it really does happen!

Lucie - another good weigh in, dont worry about falling off the wagon, just jump right back on!

Gemma x

moonshine · 21/02/2007 20:17

Well done for all the losses all - especially Luciemule after those little 'lapses'. Maybe you continue to struggle you should consider the 790 plan? Apparently the losses are similar, if not quite so fast, but at least you get a meal a day. But as time goes on you may really get into now. I always used to pick at my dc's meals, so am hoping to not return to that little habit. You must be 5ft 6ins then - I have half thought of aiming for 10 stones but don't know if I can do it all for that long, and I'm getting on you know so can aim to be bigger . Oh and am gagging for a glass of wine!

As for skin, you're supposed to allow about a month per half a stone lost to see how far your skin settles back. You weren't very big to start off with so you should be ok, but it seems to depend a lot on genes, age, and how much you have yo-yoed dieted as to what kind of state it will be in.

Devonshire - you do feel lethargic for the first week or so. Think this time round I started feeling energised after about 2 weeks. It should come soon!

fussymummy · 21/02/2007 22:43

Hi everyone, i got weighed yesterday and lost another 4 lbs.
Have now lost 31 lbs in 6 weeks!!!!

I've also gone down TWO sizes in clothes!!!!

Have had a bad day today, but have been soooo tired that i cannot be bothered with anything!!!
Have had a really hectic few weeks, but hopefully by monday things will settle down a bit!

Some of you are doing really well on here, so keep it up.
And, if like me you do have some bad days, just carry on as normal the next day!

bendigoblue · 21/02/2007 23:40

Wow Fussymummy thats great! We are really similar, i've been doing it six weeks too, lost 34lbs and also gone down 2 clothes sizes, we could be twins!

jumpingin · 22/02/2007 19:36

You are all such inspirations!

I finally met up with my CDC today and she was great. Really knew what she was talking about and realised I knew, too, so didn't try to tell things that weren't true. I got a 2 week supply and won't start until 3rd March as I have a friend's 40th birthday party on the 2nd so no point starting it knowing I'll fail. No bars for the first 2 weeks at least she said. I did get some of the tetra pack drinks because there is no way I can make a shake during the day easily. Got a mix of soups and various flavours for shakes. I'm looking forward to getting started. I also am glad I'm not getting weighed for 2 weeks. Hopefully it means I won't obsess about it the whole entire time.

So I have about 5 stone to lose which sucks but if I can just do it this one time and stick to it, my life will be so much better.

Devonshire · 22/02/2007 22:12

well done jumpingin for making the decision to commit to CD! i did like you and got all the info and stuff but went on an all inclusive holiday to spain before i started, i thought of it as my "last-all-inclusive-supper"!
i hope that when you do begin you find this thread as useful as i have, it's nice to have others in the same boat as you when it seems the rest of the world is eating normally!
good luck

Devonshire · 22/02/2007 22:15

and well done to all you ladies who have been on this a few weeks and are still doing so well!
my weight day is wednesday, when is everyone elses?

luciemule · 22/02/2007 23:22

well I can't believe it - it was going to be my best week yet and already I've caved in and finished the kids leftovers plus flapjack! What am I doing. I was standing there feeling like I'd just stolen sweets from a shop! My parents always told us, as kids, to clear our plates before we left the table and that's my excuse for why I can't throw away food. I just couldn't put DS' plate of pasta in the bin!
My parents arrive tomorrow for 4 days and I never cheat in front of other people because of the guilt thing so hopefully it'll be 4 days of no food and a big difference in my way of thinking.....here's hoping.
I tried chewing gum at teatime but tonight I just took it out, ate the pasta, then put it back in again (absolutely no willpower, I know).

cricky · 23/02/2007 20:16

Hi All

Fussymummy recommended I join this thread. I've been on LL for 3and a half weeks. i had lost 20.5lb at 3 weeks which i am really chuffed with as i have loads to loose (5 stone + I think). but it is really hard - I'm not hungrey - just crave stuff. my LL group all seem angelic so it's nice to hear people do cheat with a bit of picking....

Devonshire · 23/02/2007 22:37

Hi Cricky, welcome! well done so far, that is an amazing result in a short space of time!
oh luciemule, don't give yourself a hard time, you may inadvertently be making it harder on yourself by "cheating" which in turn leads to more cheats iykwim. i know if i had so much as a nibble, i wld give CD up instantly and stuff my face so you are doing remarkably well to keep getting back on track.
just put another day behind you and look onward and upward, you can do it, girlie!
