As the old one was getting rather large.

Feel free to post this weeks good and bad news, frustrations, tips, feelings etc.

Oh and meant to say you shouldn't look at weeks in isolation - you have actually lost 11lbs in only 2 weeks! Well done.

catsmother · 06/02/2007 15:25

I'm planning to go through all the stages. When you think of what we've been eating, a 1000 calorie a day diet sounds like quite a luxury !

I really don't want to f* this up because it's the most I've ever lost on a diet (and hopefully there's more to come off). Previously, I seem to be able to diet (have done WW Points & WW No Count) for around 20 weeks, then just totally fall off the wagon.

Whether or not this will be different I don't know ...... but if, hopefully, I lose around 4 stone total, I am convinced my mindset then will be totally different compared to previous diet attempts, where I have NEVER yet lost all the weight I wanted to and used to get to the point where I'd think "what's the point" and blow it.

In theory ...... that 4 stone loss could be 5 or 6 weeks away - and I have a family wedding to attend at the end of April - and I have £100s of clothes vouchers (saved up from birthdays & xmases from last 3 or so years) burning a hole in my pocket for a splurge when I am slim ! So ..... hopefully that will keep me on the straight and narrow for just a little bit longer.

OP posts:
moonshine · 06/02/2007 16:41

I agree about not blowing it but what I would like to do is swap to another low-cal plan which doesn't involve having 2/3 packs a day but real food. What worries me is if I eat carbs, albeit in a controlled way, that I will instantly put on several pounds (although I know in theory it won't be fat but my glycogen/water tanks filling up). I'm pretty sure that my weight will always fluctuate (I have a lifetime of food 'issues' to deal with) but this time I will not let it get so out of control. I will set myself an upper limit and when I reach it, I will do a few days on CD or one of its plans if necessary.

bendigoblue · 07/02/2007 09:38

Morning ladies,

Another 5lbs off this morning (despite having AF and a mirena coil fitted yay) making a grand total of.... 26 lbs in 4 weeks!

Goes without saying I am ecstatic, I feel so much better about myself, i've still got a really long way to go, but already i'm feeling so much better in my own skin iyswim.

I was very proactive yesterday and went into Virgin Active to rejoin. I'm swimming at the leisure centre once a week anyway, I may as well pay a little bit more weekly and get a full gym membership so I can swim, take classes and tone up a bit as well whenever I want. And they have a great creche too which will be handy!

I think my head is well and truly in the zone now, bring it on!!!

How's everyone else today?

catsmother · 07/02/2007 12:08

Brilliant Bendigo.

I hope you enjoy the gym too .... I know it's not for everyone but years ago I used to go to the gym regularly and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately though, there's none near to me which also have a creche so I am somewhat stuck regarding exercise, yet am "itching" to do some, which will obviously help and, I think, is a sign that I too feel better in my own skin.

fussymummy · 08/02/2007 10:26

Morning all, i've not been on for a few days.
Have had a poorly 3 year old and i have loads of work to do!!!!!
Still plodding along with the CD.
I don't find it too bad, if i'm honest.
Have lost 20lbs in 4 weeks.
My next weigh in isn't until tuesday.
Have picked at a few bits, but it's nothing in comparison to what i used to eat, so i won't be beating myself up over it!!!

Well done to all of you who've lost weight and kept at it.

For those of you who are having a few blips with it, just start again, it's never too late.

I've only told a couple of people that i'm dieting and because i still wear all my baggy clothes, i haven't had anyone comment yet!!!

I'm waiting until i've lost loads more before i reveal what i've lost, i keep my coat wrapped round me and scarf pulled round my face when on the school run!!!!!!

luciemule · 09/02/2007 21:43

hello - I've just found this thread after having started a new one by accident.
I'm just into my third week and finding it really hard not to nibble at kid's leftovers. My husband is away until June so although he's supporting me by email, there's nobody here to spurr me on and stop me from picking. Having read all of these threads I feel more motivated though - for some reason I imagined that everyone else on Sole Source wasn't cheating at all but it seems that lots of people have days when they pick. It's getting a bit samey for me though as I only like the choc/mint flavour. I tried the chocolate (hot) and almost gave in there and then and then I had the cheese and brocolli soup (I'm not sure how they call it cheese and brocolli!). Then I tried Fruits of the Forest but couldn't face that either. At least I can drink the choc/mint but it's hard doing it 3 times a day. What's the oriental chilli like and does it also taste like cardboard and hot water?

fussymummy · 10/02/2007 01:20

luciemule
I hated all the soups!!!
Have you tried the cappucino? lovely hot!
Banana shake and strawberry are lovely.
Have you tried any of the bars yet?

We'll all support you.

Where abouts are you?

What does your hubby do?, That's a long time to be away?

luciemule · 10/02/2007 09:39

I'm in Somerset and the in-laws are nearby and I've got some nice friends but it's just not the same as somebody being in the house stopping me from eating! My husband has been in Afghanistan since November and doesn't come back until June. He gets 12 days at end of April for a little holiday though. I thought it'd be a good time to do the diet but didn't realise it would be so tough. I'm gonna keep going though - already seeing a benefit in feel of clothes which is very motivating. Did you exercise? Tried my exercise bike last night but was knackered!

moonshine · 10/02/2007 10:08

Welcome luciemule! Must be hard with your dh being away for so long (and in Afghanistan!). But maybe plan a killer outfit for when he comes back, one that will show off your new slimness. Stick up a few pictures as motivation - wouldn't necessarily recommend actually buying something now because your body proportions might not become what you think (when I slimmed down first time I was shocked that I wasn't actually a curvy hourglass/pear-shape but more of a cross between an apple and carrot . It is hard not to pick, because, let's face it, tis the most boring diet ever, and some people can get away with it, but please try not to - it might knock you out of ketosis, slow down your losses and tack you off track.

Saying that I was all ready to give up last night. I was so peed off and desparate to be 'normal'. Dh, who is very supportive, said he wouldn't care and would help me whatever but, as ever, I decided to wait until the morning to make my decision and have decided to try and plod on for another week at least. Weekends are hard though...

Oh and well done Fussymummy - you're doing so well.

moonshine · 10/02/2007 10:08

take you off-track.

catsmother · 10/02/2007 14:21

Onw tip I was given re: "picking" was to cut one of the bars into slithers, and keep in the fridge. Then pick at those when you have the urge ...... I know it's not the same but I find it quite a good way to eat the bars anyway as I think they're terribly sickly.

OP posts:
luciemule · 10/02/2007 17:11

thanks moonshine - good idea about outfit - will buy one nearer the time. I've booked secret weekend away to Bath for when he gets back for his 12 days leave so will wear it then. My counsellor has taken before pics so I'll her to give me a copy to stick on fridge (and breadbin!).
Catsmother - good tip about the bars - I haven't got any yet as the 2nd week wasn't great so thought I wouldn't eat solid food in case it tempted me (although that just went out the window) but actually, chopping up the bars is good as I can have small bits throughout the day rather than binging on carbs at teatime! Which ones are nice flavours do you reckon? Do you have chopped up ones as extras or one instead of shake? I guess even if they are extra, it's still better than eating normal food?

meb2006 · 11/02/2007 13:03

Hi all. Just jumped on to say Hi and well done to all - you are all doing marvelously. Not done CD for over 2 weeks now. Had to cancel last weeks appointment and counsellor not even called me back when I left message explaining why. Such a shame I lost my first counsellor and I just did n't get on aqs wekl with current one and now would n't go back to her. Anyway that is rather an excuse as it is me that could n't do it. Ill at moment with flu so may think again once get over it (I am beginning to feel better after 3 days in bed). Anyway keep going - some of the loses are fantastic on this thread - you will all be amazingly fantastic as the weather gets better.

Best wishes........

catsmother · 11/02/2007 18:25

Lucie, the bars count as one of your meals I'm afraid !

Personally, I like the chocolate, the malt and the cranberry bars best. I had been looking forward to the peanut bar too but obviously had visions of proper, crunchy peanuts in my mind's eye as I was very disappointed. Have to say they tasted very "cardboardy" but don't let me put you off. Try each one for yourself.

OP posts:
bendigoblue · 11/02/2007 20:41

I quite liked the peanut one, took me ages to eat it as well which is always a bonus!

Day 33 here, that's gone fast I can tell you! I'm doing my add a meal week (well sort of). The idea of eating scares me a bit in case it makes me want to start and not stop, i've not cheated once so far. So what i'm doing with my microscopic amount of turkey and mushrooms is putting in into my soup and blitzing it in the genie. Voila, thicker soup and nothing to make me feel like i'm eating something I shouldn't be iyswim. Lol.

Got my gym induction tomorrow night, I want to start toning up!

Put on a pair of trousers to wear to church today, two weeks ago I wore them to MIL's for lunch and they fitted perfectly. Today I spent all day pulling them up! That is a seriously good feeling!

Welcome on board Lucie! I find the soups 100% more palatable now i'm mixing them in a Hinari Genie blender, smooth and creamy in 30 secs!

Nice to hear from you Meb, sorry you're under the weather, we'll be glad to have you back if you decide to give it another shot!

Hope everyone else has had a nice weekend

Gemma xxxx

luciemule · 11/02/2007 22:13

Wow Bendigoblue - 33 days and not cheating once - that's amazing willpower! It's so hard for me but I don't know why. I want this so badly so you'd imagine I would stick rigidly to it but when I pick, I'm not even hungry. I must really have a food issue. Tonight (I know I shouldn't) I'm missing my 3rd shake as I ate some pieces of DS' chicken and a stick of celery with houmous! I felt like sicking it back up again but that would have been silly. I think food was a complete comfort to me and it's going to be a real journey for me to think of it in a completely different way.

Devonshire · 12/02/2007 15:21

well, after much dithering, i have finally made an appt to meet my CDC tonight. i intend to start the diet on wednesday, which coincides with the day we get our puppy. i figure that if i need a distraction, that's about as good as they get!
i know i shouldn't but i have been having a week of "last suppers", stuffing myself with chocolate and drinking coke and coffee and no water so chances are i will have the mother of all withdrawals for the first wee while!
any top tips for a newcomer? i think i have about 5+ stone to lose - haven't dared weigh myself for months...
ps. told you i would see you on here, luciemule! how is it going for you today?

luciemule · 12/02/2007 22:31

hi devonshire - it's ok but I think my nibbling problem is becuase I can see a positive difference in my figure, I get complacent and think "oh well I'll have a little bit". However, I'm not always in ketosis so I'd better watch out. My sister is texting me all day tomrrow as she says I have to have a completely food-free day! I'll try........

Devonshire · 12/02/2007 23:24

go for it luciemule!!!
so i went for the mtg and my counsellor is very nice - quite batty but very nice. am a bit confused as she has given me 3 shakes per day and also 1 bar per day. i thought you had bars only after a week or two? i am tall and she said i should be on 4 CD products per day for the first 3 days to a week, and then if i feel i can manage on 3, then i shld reduce to that. not complaining about the fact i can eat a chocolate bar each night though!
ps i have heard people talk of ketostix(?). where do you get them and when can you expect to be in ketosis?

fussymummy · 13/02/2007 00:24

Devonshire if you're taller than 5' 8" you have 4 items a day.

Some CDC let you have bars in the first week, but mine doesn't until you've done 2 weeks!!!!!

Have my next weigh in tomorrow, so i'll be back on to let you know how i've done!!!!!!

For anyone who gets the nibbles, try carrot and celery sticks. That's what i've started having if i want to eat!!!!

bendigoblue · 13/02/2007 09:11

Good luck with your weigh-in today Fussy Mummy!

Welcome aboard Devonshire, good to have another CDer

I had my gym induction last night and it was really good. I told the personal trainer bloke about the diet and he put some cardiovascular in to get the bloody pumping (but not so much as to make me keel over lol) and so resistance to keep my muscle shape as he reckons when you lose weight quickly you lose muscle tone as well and I don't want to be a funny shape lol. I went for a nice swim after and then into the spa and sauna. Bliss.

moonshine · 13/02/2007 09:48

Welcome Devonshire! Good luck on the new regime. My advice would be to drink loads of water and really really try not to nibble anything! Aren't carrots quite carby?? If you must nibble then it would be better to be a bit of protein like chicken or green veg (celery might be ok). Ketosis can take 2-4 days I think. You may get really bad carb withdrawals in the first few days if you didn't cut back beforehand (and I didn't either!) but hang on in there!

Weigh-in this morning and I have lost 4lbs, taking me to 11st 6.75lbs. I was very depressed and thinking of giving up several times but feel spurred on now that I am half a stone away from being a healthy bmi. I've also now lost more than 5ins from my waist,2ins off each thigh and 3ins from my hips. But God it's boring and dd is now asking more and more questions (I have yet to mention the word diet to her as I do not want her to grow up with my food issues, and I really want to start eating healthily in front of her). So my next mini-target is get to 'normal' on the bmi charts and take it from there.

Good luck all.

bendigoblue · 13/02/2007 10:05

Fantastic Moonshine! That's great, you must feel wonderful, the end is in sight!

I was thinking carrots are carby too, you aren't allowed them on the Add a meal week.

My eldest (3.5) has asked a few times what i'm having, he calls it skinny soup or skinny milk but he has no idea what that means so i'm not too worried.

luciemule · 13/02/2007 10:19

hi everyone - well my no-nibbling day is going ok so far and I haven't even had my breakfast shake yet. When do you find the best times to drink them to feel less hungry 'cause I'm drinking mine really randomly and perhaps that's why my nibbling problem has occured!
You're all doing so well and my lack of motivation and willpower has been spurred on by reading your posts.
