thanks Devonshire - today hasn't been too bad - a munch of celery with a scoop of humous (sp?) and a mouthful of salmon! I'm so naughty. Hee Hee. Oh well - at least those little nibbles kept me going. My parents hadn't seen me since I began CD and they really noticed a big difference, mainly in my shape rather than the actual weight loss. I now know where I get it from - my dad was asking what is there to eat between every meal and I caught my mum eating my DS's left over spaghetti before her own tea!
Well done Cricky - that's an amzing loss!

luciemule · 25/02/2007 23:39

how did everyone go this weekend?

bendigoblue · 26/02/2007 19:07

Hi Lucie,

I had a very very hard weekend, my best mate arrived from Germany thursday night, we went shopping at the Trafford centre on Friday after i'd put a big beef and mushroom stroganoff in the slow cooker, then my parents arrived friday night and they all ate it whilst I had soup. On Saturday we went to a family birthday party where there was a gorgeous buffet and I drank lots of water and ate a cambridge chocolate bar. On Sunday it was my boys big day, they were baptised at our church and we went for a reception at the rugby club afterwards where there was another gorgeous buffet and again I just drank water. In the evening they had roast beef and I had soup.

I'm amazed I went through all that and not a morsel passed my lips that wasn't Cambridge related.

One thing that got me through was the reaction to my weightloss of my family! I havent seen them since Christmas and they were all gobsmacked, I got soooo many compliments and that made me feel really really good!

How was your weeekend Lucie?

luciemule · 26/02/2007 20:37

Hi Bendigo - your weekend was really good and proved just how much will power you have. Very impressive- having all of that food so easily available yet you didn't cheat once. I feel very guilty as I've had little cheats all weekend. I emailed my husband tongiht asking him what he thinks I can do to stop eating the kid's leftovers. It's getting ridiculous - I even sat tonight whilst they were eating and thought if they don't eat it all, I'm just going to chuck it in the bin (this made me feel great). However, in reality, I ate mouthfuls of pasta bolognese before putting the rest in the food bin! Then I ate a piece of bread. I really don't understand why I'm craving carbs. It's not really hunger (although in the last few days it has been) it's more the need to eat anything! I think I'll not lose that much by Wednesday if I go on like this. It's so hard as my DS is having big probs eating anything at the moment so there's food probs everywhere (my DD has also been very faddy lately). I've really felt like giving up today but want to have slim thighs. Like you - my parents couldn't stop complimenting my figure but that just made me more complacent and thought I could still cheat as I've lost 13lbs already and assume I'll keep losing it. I know that won't be the case after long. If I only lose a couple of lbs each week, it'll cost a lot more too! Sorry to waffle on but I'm falling apart when it comes to staying on track! My body must be well confused - going in and out of ketosis all the time!

fussymummy · 26/02/2007 23:00

I've been awful this week!!!

Have been really stressed and sooooo busy.

Also, had some family in hospital for various things, so more stress and worry!

Have eaten sandwiches, crisps, choc, fruit raw veg.....

Have been away from home most of the weekend as well, so that hasn't helped either.

Wonder how much i'll have gained when i get weighed on wed?????

I have been good today though, and need to be for a lot more days as well!!!

Have been fairly good up until now, but lost it big time this week!

I'm sure we'll all go through similar at some point, but the main thing is to carry on with CD a.s.a.p.

luciemule · 26/02/2007 23:14

don't worry fussymummy - I think stress plays a major role in the nibbling thing and you seem to have had a lot this week! Well done you for getting back today though. I think it shows that we must have the willpower otherwise would have given up completely by now.

fussymummy · 26/02/2007 23:31

Thanks for that Lucie.

I'm so determined to shift all this weight that i have to get back on the CD.

It's going to be a long journey to shift it all, and i refuse to beat myself up if i have a few bad days for whatever reason.

The main thing to me is getting started again!!!

How are you coping with it all?

Are you still picking as well?

luciemule · 27/02/2007 14:02

yes - fussymummy - i'm still picking but trying really hard not to. It's not like I'm eating whole meals or anything like - just a couple of mouthfuls at teatime or a piece of ham etc. Daytime not too bad and I don't pick but teatime really hard. How much are you wanting to lose? It seems like it's going to be a long haul but actually, not many people can lose this much on a normal healthy eating diet and cheat much more easily. I think completely shutting out food for a while makes you think more rationally about it in the long run - that's the theory I'm working on but must practice it more! My life revolved around what I could eat next but now I'm concentrating really hard on what I'm not going to eat next.

moonshine · 27/02/2007 14:45

Fussymummy - you've done so well up until last week, don't let it throw you off track. Most people on all diets fall off the wagon at some stage - it's human nature because who can really only think of food as a 'fuel'(well very very few people)?

Luciemule - if you are happy with picking and it's still working, then maybe that's the way for you, although I imagine your real physical hunger is from being out of ketosis which might lead to something else - well it would for me! I often read the tip of immediately squirting washing-up liquid over left-overs to stop the picking. Something to try? I reserve judgement still on that one.

Well done Bendigo, sounds like you have got this completely sussed.

As for me, thought I was going to have another slow week but my body went into overdrive these last 2 days so this week's loss is 5lbs! Which means....drum roll please...I am now a 'normal' weight and not overweight (but only just!). Still some work to do to because I'm the type of person that needs a 'safety net' to let my weight fluctuate (I have resigned myself to it doing that forever) and want to get into my 'thinner' clothes comfortably.

How's everyone else? And what's happened to Mrspoppins - did I miss something?

catsmother · 27/02/2007 15:17

Well thank God for that ..... weigh in today, and another 5lbs off this week (after being "stuck" last week). I've now lost 2 stone 12lbs in 11 weeks. I want to lose just over another stone, so the end is in sight.

Congratulations too Moonshine on your loss ..... I don't know what happened to MrsPoppins, she just disappeared one day, so assume she's stopped dieting and felt too awkward about coming back and saying so.

Fussy .... please don't beat yourself up about falling off the wagon. I did at Xmas, was supposed to have a 3 day "break" but in reality I stuffed my face for a whole week on Xmas food. Then, again, when I was in hospital around 5 weeks ago, I had a week of eating normally because I was taking huge amounts of painkillers which made me sick on an empty-ish stomach. However, I took full advantage of that and stuffed my face again. However, I am now back on track .... so it can be done. Remember there is no rule stating you're not allowed on CD once you've "fallen" is there ..... so just do it !

Devonshire · 27/02/2007 21:34

wel done moonshine and catsmother - you are truly inspirational it is really encouraging to know that there are still big 5lb losses to be had further down the road.

luciemule and fussymummy, you are doing really well, just keep the faith and get back oh the horse! i don't think anyone sticks to a diet 100% of the time...

..unless they are called bendigoblue!! you have the willpower (and staying power) of a mule!!(in a good way, i mean - you are incredible!) you must feel so strong for facing that temptation and winning! the compliments are fabulous for your self esteem too - well done!!

luciemule · 27/02/2007 21:41

hello - I've got a dilema - as I ate the leftover fish pie from the kid's tea tonight, should I still have the third shake? I only had a few spoonfulls but it did have cheese in and it is weigh in tomorrow morning? I'm hoping to get the hang of this no eating thing soon, I promise.......

Devonshire · 27/02/2007 21:59

hmmm, i dunno, but the one day i only had 2 out of 3 shakes i felt like cr$p the next day, really weak, tired and hungry.

maybe have it anyway, its only 150 odd calories and has all the vits and minerals so it is good for you!

bendigoblue · 27/02/2007 22:11

You should still have your third pack really Lucie, otherwise you aren't getting your full days nutrition, I can see why you'd want to skip it though.

I think i'm having delayed temptation, i've been miserable today. I just want to eat something, and i'm struggling to distract myself. I've had 2 baths already today, and 6 litres of water. And I stood on the scales a day early to try and cheer myself up and they are only showing 2lbs off. Feels like i've been robbed a bit iyswim, I worked so hard over the weekend, go to the gym, drink my water, don't cheat and don't lose anymore than I would have doing WW or SW. . Can't see myself losing another 2lbs by tomorrow morning either so this will be the lowest week i've had loss-wise.

I want chocolate!

Devonshire · 27/02/2007 22:15

bendi, you are full of water!!!!!
don't be disheartend and don't be tempted, go to bed and have some sleep and you will wake up lighter, i don;t know how but there is a magic fat fairy who takes away your weight at some time between midnight and 7am!!
my sister and i have had convos about this and reckon there must be an optimum time when you lose the weight overnight and wonder what you wld weight if you got on the scales at say, 3am. would the fat fairy have been????

luciemule · 27/02/2007 22:33

Keep going Bendigo - you've done so well - it is amazing how much a couple of glasses of water can make so 6 litres will count a lot. Nibble some celery if you have to - don't add hummus like me though!!!
I think I might have my shake - actually, I just waited to see if I feel hungry and I don't so will make a cup of tea and take my water to bed. I know about the nutrients but I reckon the loss is more important this week - I need all the help I can get! I should be doing add a meal this coming week and I reckon that might sort me out more because I can eat with the DCs and that will reduce my stress more. I hate not eating with them and their routine really has gone up the spout.

bendigoblue · 27/02/2007 22:38

I wish it was after lots of water i'd weighed, but it was first thing this morning after a wee. Oh well, ho hum.

You've cheered me up though ladies, ty.

bendigoblue · 28/02/2007 08:55

Well the fat fairy did come, another 4lbs off this morning. That is the absolute last time I weigh early and stress myself for no reason!

Going spinning today, picked a beginner class but i'm still nervous i'll make a plank of myself!

bendigoblue · 28/02/2007 08:55

Sorry, that should say another 4lb off this week.

luciemule · 28/02/2007 09:39

what's spinning?

bendigoblue · 28/02/2007 10:08

It's that thing on excercise bikes where you peddle really fast, it's been cancelled though Will just go and work out for an hour instead.

luciemule · 28/02/2007 13:16

hi - I might give the spinning thing a go on my exercise bike -how long do I do it for and I guess it's in a really low gear?!
Got weighed this morning - not good! Only 2lbs loss, which is at least a loss but she suggested I do the 790 cals. I said I'd like to try my add-a-meal week to see how I get on and if that's ok, I'll try to have my last shake just before the kids tea so I'm not craving carbs. She was unsure and said she'd lost 41/2 stone in 16 weeks doing the 790. I really wanted to be near my target when DH comes home at end of April. I know I'm not doing it for him but he's never seen me at 10 stone so I would really love it if he could. How much more do you have to lose Bendigoblue and how do you stop yourself from eating?

bendigoblue · 28/02/2007 17:05

Hiya,

Not sure about spinning on an excersise bike, would deffo have to be a low gear i think.

I was 19 stone when I started slim fast before xmas, I lost a stone doing that, then put 7lbs back on over crimbo so I was 18 and a half when I started cambridge. I'd like to get to 10 and a half to be a healthy BMI, when I get there, i'll switch to WW if I want to be thinner. So all in all, I want to lose 8 on Cambridge. I'm now 15 stone 11lbs, so 5 stone 4lbs to go! 15 stones 11 makes me smile a lot. Haven't been this light in nearly 5 years.

Sheer determination is keeping me from eating. I know everyone says it, but it's so vital to try and go a few weeks without cheating, then it becomes so much easier not to cheat at all.

luciemule · 28/02/2007 20:11

Hi BB - I still don't get the exercise bike thing - what's the difference between exercise bikes at the class or one at home? I think I'm really missing something!
I know I'll have to try not cheating at all - tonight had a bit of a breakthrough. Cooked the kids and my tea together (add a meal week). Did rocket and cauliflower to equal 2/3 tablespoons with quorn chicken-stlye pieces. I cut each quorn piece up several times to make more pieces and it was sooooooo yummy. I savoured every mouthful and felt full afterwards. I still haven't had my 3rd shake yet actually. More importantly - I threw the left overs from kids' teas in the bin. Hooray. The carb cravings in the afternoon/teatime were obviously the problem so hopefully, it'll be good from here on. I still want to go back to sole source next week though - regardless of what she says!

bendigoblue · 28/02/2007 20:33

Ok, I looked spinning up on Wikipedia, here's the link!
