Tell us more about the crisps

luciemule · 14/03/2007 21:49

yes - do tell!

Devonshire · 14/03/2007 21:58

ooh, i love a captive audience!!

well i can't guarantee you'll like em but try with half a pack of soup so if you don't you've not wasted a whole meal..

put half a pack into a cup and add a trickle of cold water and stir. add more until it makes a smooth but quite thick paste. then get some parchment or greaseproof paper, if you have, and drop a small dollop onto it. spread the dollop out v thin and repeat until you have used all the paste, makes about 10?

then put into microwave for about 1-1.5 mins, keep checking they are not burning. when done, they will peel away from the paper and go crisp when cooled.

Voila!! good luck, hope you like em..

Devonshire · 14/03/2007 21:59

btw this is off mininmins so shld be ok but not sure what happens to the vits and mins in the microwave!!

luciemule · 14/03/2007 22:01

what flavours did you do them with? I tried broc/cheese soup and almost threw up. Did you instantly like them or did you have to coax yourself?

Devonshire · 14/03/2007 22:05

well i did use that one too as i couldn't face drinking it. i tried to persude myself they were cheese and onion! HA!! also oriental chili was ok, not tried others.

maybe they are an acquired taste?

luciemule · 14/03/2007 22:07

thanks devonshire - might muster up the courage to give it a go or (b) might eat a normal packet of low fat crisps - still imagining the taste of that soup!!! Would be good if CD made the crisps in packets.

fussymummy · 14/03/2007 22:20

Thanks for that, i'll give it to my friend whos doing cd.

Can't face the soups myself, they're awful!

Sometimes wish there were a few more choices with cd, maybe they'll bring some new products out?

Can live in hope!!

ScoobyDooooo · 16/03/2007 22:24

Hi everyone please can i join you all? i really need some motivation & need to lose some weight because i am feeling very unconfident & aware of my weight at the moment which is making my depression worse

I do not have a clue how this diet works i have never heard of it, what do i need to be doing & what do i need to be buying.

By the way Fussymummy suggested i come here, so i hope you don't mind.

I need to go down 2-3 dres sizes to feel comfortable & like me again, it all went pair shaped after i had kids.

Please insire & motivate me i am desperate to feel good for summer

luciemule · 16/03/2007 22:42

Hi Scoobydoo, or "Doobydoo" as my DS would call you!
Welcome on board and I'm sure if you want to drop a couple of dress sizes, this could be the diet for you. How much weight do you want to lose? I've now lost 17lbs in 7 weeks(and unlike most of the others, I regularly cheat!!). Have a look at the recent losses a bit further down and you'll be amazed. It's not mentally easy but the hunger thing isn't really a problem. Go to the Cambridge Diet website and find a counsellor in your area and giev them a ring to ask about your next step. The website is packed with all the necessary info and it's all fairly straight forward.
Basically, you'll need buy shakes (3 a day if you're under 5ft8") if you plan to do the Sole Source programme. You do this for 4 weeks, then add a meal in week 5 and then go back to Sole Source. The books and website will tell you what you can/can't eat/drink. It's very strict but I found that having no food, other than the shakes, actually clears your mind a bit. Now I realise that food ruled my life and I thought of it all day long but once it's not part of the equation, you'll focus on other things. I'll shut up for now as this is a very long post!

ScoobyDooooo · 16/03/2007 22:51

Thanks luciemule i have just looked on the website & emailed the councellor in my area if i don't hea back i will call her. So do i have to go & see her & pay her? does she weigh me or am i getting this all wrong i am totally confused.

Have looked down the thread & it is amazing how much everyone is losing, i am now determined i really am, i no longer want to feel fat & unhappy.

luciemule · 16/03/2007 22:57

Good for you SD - usually, you go once a week to counsellor, get weighed and measures (thighs/waist/arms/bust/hips), then buy a weeks worth of shakes (you can have bars after 2 weeks). It's roughly around 35 pounds a week which is incentive enough for sticking to it. The counsellors can charge what they want but it's similar normally.
I'm on 3 choc/mint shakes a day (had a real problem finding a flavour I liked) but choc/mint is ok. Different people like different ones (forest fruits was bearbale but only once). You might like them all. In the first week, they tend to give you all the flavours so you can try but I had to go back and swap to choc/mint so I didn't run out.

Landoni112 · 19/03/2007 17:06

hi everyone, mind if I join in?
I have been reading all your messages and they are so inspirational (well some of them!) I managed 10 days of CD in Feb (lost 9lbs in the first 7 days!) but fell off the wagon and am only just starting back up again today (needless to say I have put on those 9lbs and a couple more of her friends)

So now i have 3stone of lard to lose before summer short sleeves are unavoidable, my CD counsellor is great, but i really need to stay motivated ALL the time (and v skilled at turning anytime into feeding time) so coming on here will help, and hopefully I will be sharing my sucesses soon.

I find it really hard to stay away from food as I am abit low at the mo so if I manage to lose this weight I cant look forward to summer (with all its weddings, BBQs etc) rather than racking my brain trying to find excuses not to go.

1st day is nearly down, and I havent had to go to bed or take headache tablets yet!

fussymummy · 19/03/2007 19:25

Landoni112 Welcome and good luck.
With online support from all of us you'll achieve your goals and be able to share your tips as well.

Devonshire · 19/03/2007 21:43

welcome scoobydoo and landoli!!

just a quick question about AAM week, anyone else find themselves feeling hungry, grumpy, very weak, tired and lightheaded during this week?? a bit like the first few days on CD again.

or is it just me being pre-menstrual??

i have really enjoyed having food but i am not keen on feeling so shi**y again. i checked i was stillin ketosis so it's not that...

fussymummy · 20/03/2007 12:29

I didn't want to do AAM because i thought it'd make me want to eat all the time.

My CDC agreed and said that by eating small amounts of the listed foods when i needed them was ok to do as it was working for me.

Mind you, bacause it was mothers day and i'd been feeling extra hungry after having tummy bug, we all had chinese take away and i ate far too much, then i had loads of chocolate so wasn't good this weekend.

Have definately learnt my lesson though, i've had awful stomach pains and feel so bloated!!!

Back on track now and intend to stay that way!!

Don't think i'd have lost when i get weighed on thursday!!

laughinglil · 20/03/2007 15:16

When I was on Cambridge, over a year ago now.. I thought AAM was fantastic, it didn't make me want anymore food and I felt completly full up on what I ate (even though it is tiny)
I have maintained my weight now (total of 4 stone) since this time last year. However I am currently on 1200 calories to get the 5lb I have recently put on off. This is such a good diet and I really wish everyone luck with it. One word of advice please stick to the maintenance plans..otherwise you will put on fast. My FIL also did cambridge and currently he has put on 4 stone of the 6 stone he lost. It really is that easy..
This is the best diet in the world and if you stick to it rigidly you will lost weight. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! your doing brilliant!

catsmother · 20/03/2007 15:50

"Only" another 2lbs lost this week. (My scales said 3 !!) .... 45lbs in total.

Am finding it increasingly hard the nearer I get to goal .... after all, eating is such a social thing, even eating with your family, and I'm finding that very difficult.

It's so frustrating when you only register a couple of pounds loss. I keep thinking that I could probably lose that on other diets where I'm actually allowed to eat food. But keep going in the hope that "next week" will be different/better.

I now have around 12lbs to target ..... but was really hoping I could get there in 3 weeks, not 6 !!!

Oh well ...... I'm going to keep going - and slugging back as much water as I can.

Laughinglil ..... it's really great to hear you've kept all the weight off. I've been thinking about that a lot and believe that the only way I'll keep my weight under control is to never go above a certain no. of calories a day ..... I know the exact figure varies depending on lifestyle & metabolism. That way, I can in theory eat what I want, but will be forced to control portions and/or eat healthily in order to get "more food for my money" IYWIM. That's pretty much what maintenance is about isn't it ? ...... re-educating yourself about food.

I think i'm going to have another low week this week too, still feel full of water. I've been doing add a meal this week, and i've been really struggling. I'm just so bored! 10 weeks in and i'm fed up of being virtuous now.

Did a before and now comparison picture last night, what do you think, can you tell?....

Picture

Devonshire · 20/03/2007 21:47

BENDI!!!!! the difference in you is incredible!!!

if you are feeling bored or disheartened, just see yourself through a strangers eyes and look at the difference in the woman in those pictures.

you should be so proud of yourself.

and even if you do feel full of water, the cd will still be burning off fat below the water, have faith, you are a star....

Devonshire · 20/03/2007 21:50

thanks all for your thoughts on aam and for laughinlil for her insight and inspiration. it is great to know that there is life after cd and the weight can stay off if we follow the next stages properly .

had my last aam tonight and i know i will miss it tomorrow..although i have learnt how to make jelly now and will be having it shortly...hope it is yummy, it looks very dubious..

bendigoblue · 20/03/2007 22:01

Add food colouring to the jelly, it makes it look a bit more palatable!

luciemule · 20/03/2007 22:05

Bendigo - you look completely different and have lost loads. You look great! And the Cambridge Diet obviously worked for the reindeer - he's disappeared althougther!!!
Well done you - perhaps we should all get our before/present photos on here for motivation.
Don't be disheartened Catsmother -2lbs is really good and if you lost that Weightwatchers - they'd all be cheering you on so know you're doing well. I keep feeling like that (although I'm not very good at not cheating so it's my own fault) but it's only because the diet promotes such huge weekly losses, that if you lose 'only' 2lbs, it makes you feel down. So keep going - you've only got 12 to go - you'll do it.
(I've been munching cadbury's mini eggs all day today - whoops!)

catsmother · 20/03/2007 23:33

Bendigo ..... of ourse we can see the difference !

I'm too ashamed of what I used to look like to post a picture now, but may do so in the future if I get where I'm supposed to be going ! (hate having pictures taken though ....)

Does anyone else feel - despite a noticeable loss (those of us who've been doing it a while that is) - that somehow you're still "fat" ?? ..... my brain doesn't seem to have engaged into slim(ish) person mode yet, even though I was slimmer for many years more than I was fat. I suppose the difference is though that I didn't use to fret about being slim (surprise, surprise) but have spent around 6 years really criticising myself, beating myself up, feeling a frump and so on. I'm getting into size 12 trousers now, no problem, but still feel I am a "fatty" ......... TBH, this worries me a little bit ...... I do know I'm slim(ish) but it's almost like I'm not giving myself permission to celebrate it yet.

(yeah, yeah ..... I know that must sound weird)
