As the old one was getting rather large.

Feel free to post this weeks good and bad news, frustrations, tips, feelings etc.

Hi Moonshine and loadds of good luck. I'm sure you'll stick to a healthy regime but with treats, like a drink, you can actually look forward. It's killing me not being able to eat the home cooked food I make my kids and I know for sure their eating has got worse because of me doing the CD diet.
It will hopefully be easier for you too as the nicer, sunnier weather is coming and that always makes me feel less like eating hods of carbs and more salads etc
Good luck anyway - your weight loss has been amazing and now at 10.975, you're a really lovely weight and you should be mega proud.
Lucie

moonshine · 09/03/2007 14:44

Thanks very much Luciemule - though I'm sure I'll be heavier tomorrow . But having got to below 10 stones from being morbidly obese, back to overweight and now 'normal' I kinda feel much less obsessed about being thin - and I do think you can become obsessed about that on this diet because it is relatively easy to get really thin, if you set your mind to it. I just want to lose my muffin top so that my jeans are more comfy and then I'll be satisfied.

How are you managing with the 'picking' - it sounds as if you are pretty happy with yourself anyway, which is a very good place to be.

luciemule · 09/03/2007 17:47

Picking not good Moonshine. I baked 2 cakes today - a banana one for family visit tomorrow (so I won't eat any) and a butternut sqaush and ginger one that I baked for my kids (although I did try 2 slices!). What am I like hey?!!
I was thinking my thighs looked a lot slimmer until Wednesday but now I'm thinking they're looking on the chubby side. I bet I'm gonna put it all back on my thighs if I do cave in. Amazing really that I haven't yet - perhaps it's because I told a lot of people so if I give up now, I reckon they'll all be thinking "I knew she couldn't do it". Not in a malicious way but in a "well I couldn't do it so why could anyone else" kind of way.
Away to surrey tomorrow until Sunday pm so that should help me get back on track. There's no way I'll eat a morsel there as my SIL is dead thin!!!

emmyroo · 09/03/2007 19:22

Luciemule-
I've been on maternity leave, I actually return to the hospital on Monday, just 2 days a week then full-time back at uni/hospital from September.
I am dreading it! Not just because I don't know how I will cope with the kids, but it's a very active job and I think that I'll be hungry all day!
It went ok when there was just DS, I just had to manage. Hopefully I'll fall into some sort of routine again, I just wish I wasn't so disorganised...

luciemule · 09/03/2007 21:18

Hi Emmyroo - maybe because you'll be very active at work, it'll be easier to cope with the shakes. I know I ate a loss less being at work than now as a SAHM. Boredom makes me eat more than anything I think.

Devonshire · 09/03/2007 22:48

well done moonshine on your amazing sucess - keep us up to date with what you are up to

catsmother, i agree totally with what you said about food, recipes, healthy eating etc. i seem to channel surf on sky and stop on any food programme i see! i too am craving healthy food like fish, brocolli, scrambled eggs, and the like. this is from the girl who could go days without eating a "proper" meal, just crappy snacks and sweets and barely anything savoury. maybe our taste buds have changed?

actually i feel that now i am getting a nutritionally complete diet, i no longer physically crave things (though my mind may want them), my blood sugar is balanced and i don't feel the withdrawal and urge for more rubbish. i feel i may have broken a viscious circle of binge, withdraw and craving...

or i may be eating my words tomorrow when i am feeling on a saturday night eating a crappy bar cut into a 100 pieces pretending its yummy!

fussymummy · 10/03/2007 22:00

moonshine Well done on getting to such a brilliant weight.

You must be so proud of yourself?

Please let us all have any tips for coping methods that you may use, now that you're back in the world of food!!!!!

I feel like i have such a long way to go with CD, but when you hear that someone has succeded it makes you feel more determined to get there as well.

Also welcome to emmyroo.

luciemule · 12/03/2007 18:27

Hi everyone - how was the weekend?
I was doing really well until I had an allergic reaction to house dust (inhaled it as well as touched it) and my face now looks like 3 times the size! So went to A & E yesterday morning in Surry whilst visiting my BIL and they gave me 4 days of steroids to be taken on a full stomach. Wasn't sure if a shake was classed as a full stomach so to be competely sure, had a small bowl of cereal and a small (no carbs) salad for lunch. Hope it doesn't make too much difference - to be honest, the way my face is hurting, I don't really care too much this week. Sorry I'm ranting on - let me know how you've all been doing.

Devonshire · 12/03/2007 19:10

poor you luciemule!! i hope that you feel better soon. i'm with you about the tablets though, i don't think a shake could possibly equal a full tummy!

i have been doing ok, can;t stop weighing myself daily though, i have lost 22.5 lbs so far and wednesday is the start of AAM week. i am so sad - i can't wait!!!!

luciemule · 12/03/2007 21:01

Well done Devonshire - you put me to shame. I know what you mean about AAM week. I planned what I would have each day and got really excited about cottage with rocket! Then I got hooked on Quorn chicken pieces.
I reckon I might have turned a corner tonight - I cooked the kids sausages with butternut squash and other veg and I tried some squash (which I could usually eat a plate full of) and couldn't eat it. I didn't feel I had the need to eat it or have a craving for it - so let's hope this continues! I think someone said the day comes when you don't want to cheat and eat.

bendigoblue · 12/03/2007 22:14

Hi all,

I had a great weekend, went away on a sort of knitting retreat with some friends (it's really not as old granny-like as it sounds!) and carried right on sole sourcing! Even managed to get all my water in even though we were out on a coach a lot. I think i'm retaining water this week though as my socks keep leaving marks on my legs. Hmmmm.

Lucie! Sorry you are poorly, hope you come out of it really soon, you are sounding really positive about the diet!

Well done Devon on the loss, it's fab! I've got another AAM week coming up on wednesday too, gonna do my chicken & mushroom in the soup trick again I think.

Congratulations Moonshine on coming so far, all the best with maintenance! Let us know how you get on with it, we'll all be there with you one day!

Gemma x

fussymummy · 12/03/2007 23:42

luciemule Hope you're feeling a bit better?
No way can a CD pack class as a full stomach!!!
Steroids can make you feel really hungry, so beware!
You'll get back to it when your face is feeling better.
You certainly sound a lot more positive.
Great that you're not craving all the foods that you're cooking.

Devonshire Well done on your loss.

fussymummy · 13/03/2007 11:13

Hi everyone, just been for my weigh in and have lost another 4 lbs!!!

Have now lost 37 lbs in total.

I feel really great and feel like i'm getting back on track again.

bendigoblue · 13/03/2007 15:40

Thats excellent Fussymummy, well done!!! Must be a real boost for you! Are you managing not to pick now?

I'm going to a hulaerobics class at the gym tonight, how funny will that be!!!!!

catsmother · 13/03/2007 17:12

Drat .... only 2lbs lost this week, although I did binge last week and lost nothing. The counsellor advised that bingeing can sometimes effect your next week's weight loss but then she would say that wouldn't she !

That's 43lbs lost in total.

Am finding it so hard, can't stop thinking about food all the time. Am especially annoyed as I have been drowning myself in water this week. 4.5 litres each day ...... I hope it has more effect next week.

OP posts:
bendigoblue · 13/03/2007 17:36

That's 3 stone Catsmother, congratulations!!!!!!!

I'm sure next weeks loss will be a big one, all that water has to help!

luciemule · 13/03/2007 21:05

Well done everyone the pounds are certainly all disappearing.
Had to take 3 pairs of trousers back to Next today as they were too big - bought themn when they fitted 2 weeks ago and went to try them on this weekend and they were falling down! Hooray I thought and then realised I'd already taken out the tickets but I dug deep and found my receipt and luckily they gave me vouchers. Will have to wait a couple more weeks I think before going again. I'm living in skirts that are falling down, one pair of good jeans that actually fit and a pair of black trousers that look like they're being held up with baler twine arounf the tummy! What have you all been doing about buying clothes (or not if you're in between sizes)?

fussymummy · 14/03/2007 12:36

I've been really good and trying not to pick this week.

I do have loads of celery in the fridge and crunch on that, i love it!

As for clothes i have 2 pairs of trousers that fit and i'm constantly washing a pair and wearing the other pair!!!

Tops aren't as bad as i like loose fitting tops anyway, but i've had to buy myself a few new ones to tide me over!

Costing a fortune but it'll be so worth it.

I started this diet wearing size 28 trousers and now have size 24!

I have so much to lose, but its lovely to get some smaller sizes at long last!!

I have 2 pairs of size 22 that i got in the sale so another few weeks and they'll be fitting!!!

My tops were size 26/28 and i had some 30/32 as well!!! I just wanted to hide myself away so much, not that yu can when you're that size, but i'm sure you all know what i mean?

I now have tops in sie 22/24 and feel good about that.

How about the rest of you, are you all happy with how your clothes sizes are dropping?

No way before would i ever discuss clothes sizes with anyone but now that i'm more confident i'm not bothered!!!

luciemule · 14/03/2007 13:58

Hello - well I just got weighed and measured and considering I thought I'd probably have stayed the same or put on, I mamaged to lose 2lbs. Slow going for me it seems but perhaps the way I'll keep it off. This wekend (due to sore face) haven't really been bothered about cheating and certainly haven't felt hungry. Have been eating small bowl of cereal and shake before steroids but then only shakes for the rest of day. I look like I've had a chemical peel today but at least people now say "are you sunburnt?" rather than "my God, what's happened to your face?!"
As for clothes - nightmare - wearing long brown skirt from Tesco today but it's almost falling off my hips and touches the floor. Will be going to Next tomorrow and buying another pair of the same jeans that fit........or maybe 2 pairs just to save some washing so frequently! I also lost another 1cm off bust (there's not much left now). Just wish it'd shift from thighs a bit the same as boobs!
Right - off to slop on some more emollient (stings like hell when I put it on). Good luck for weigh ins today (devonshire I think)

bendigoblue · 14/03/2007 17:04

Well it had to happen sooner or later, only 2lbs this week, and I haven't cheated once. Feel a bit bummed since I spent all weekend on my retreat being virtous, but I was kind of expecting it as I know i'm retaining water, my socks are leaving marks on my legs which hasn't happened before. Ho hum. Counsellor looked and it was 4 weeks ago I had my last period so its probably that, I can't keep up with where I am as the mirena is messing things up.

As for clothes, I started in size 24 just, they were very tight, am now in 18's which is great! I was lucky in that I kept a lot of my old clothes from before I got pregnant so I have stuff to shrink back into until I hit the 16's, then i'm in stook!

Onto AAM week again, am feeling really blah though to be honest.

luciemule · 14/03/2007 20:31

Hi Bendigo - 2lbs is better than a kick up the bum and it really does sound like the period/water retention thing. I had a similar thing happen with my socks last week so made sure I drank loads of water to rehydrate - it's not been as bad since.
Have you plotted your weight on the Camrbidge Dieters forum as even though I'm only losing a couple of pounds a week ,it still looks good on the graph as it's going steadily downwards, rather than up and down (like I thought it might) and I've now only got 1 stone 7lbs to go to my target. However, I'm not sure that once I get there, I'll feel slim enough. My thighs are still looking wobbly - do you think once the fat dispearses more, they'll look better.
Off to Center Pacrs in June and am going to book a cellulite treatment using birch and fennel (good for detoxing colon too). Sounds very relaxing and doesn't involve colonic irrigation (thank god). I do often rather think CI would be good though - to get rid of that sluggish feeling - have any of you had it and was it ok?

Devonshire · 14/03/2007 21:32

hi all, well done to everyone, i think we are all doing great and don't worry about a "small" loss one week bendi, i'mm with lucie on this one, it really does just sound like water. also, i too had the mirena and it can give you all kinds of weird and wonderful side effects when first put in. don't despair, you are doing fab!

i had my official weigh this am and am 1 st 9lbs lighter after my first 4 weeks. i am really happy and have just had my first AAM-meal! never has a minute square of chicken and brocolli tasted so amazing! i marinaded the chicken in a bit of curry powder first and it was yummy! (btw, how in god's name do you measure 2 tblspns of brocolli??? i just had 3 small florets..)

Devonshire · 14/03/2007 21:35

oh, i forgot to say, my life has been revolutionised with CD "crisps", mix a mousse and water flavours. i bought the tubs tonight and i am having one taste sensation after another!

i am glad i waited a month b4 trying these things as i really appreciate the variety now whereas a month ago i would have just thought, "what is this crap?? it's not crisps, mousse etc and its horrid!!"

amazing how your tastebuds adapt..

luciemule · 14/03/2007 21:43

Hi Devonshire- good loss in 4 weeks! You've done really well. I was just starting to get 'picky' and then realised I haven't had my last shake!
What are the CD crisps? CDC hasn't mentioned those - are they are 'nice' as the gross soups and bars???

Devonshire · 14/03/2007 21:45

well they are made from the gross soups but i think they are ace! will tell you how to do them if you like.
