I'm interested to compare really. I'm not huge at 9.5st but would be happier at 9st.

Anyone else around that weight trying to lose half a stone?

OP posts:
iloveewanthedreamsheep · 15/05/2016 04:14

11 stone 4 (5 months after getting ENORMOUS during first pregnancy) which makes me a big size 12. I'm currently dieting and aiming for under 10st. I look best between 9st 6lb - 9st 10lb.

InTheSandPit · 15/05/2016 05:51

I can't believe all those who like to be under 9st 7! When I dropped below 10st, I had people concerned about me. Just goes to show why there needs to be a range in BMI, we all suit different areas of healthy!
I'm miles off that, but look best around 10 and a half, IMO. That was a size 10. Currently targeting 11 St.

BugPlaster · 15/05/2016 06:38

I'm about 8 stone 4 and think it's because I have so little muscle. I don't look ultra skinny, have a v squidgy bum and thigh zone but would love to put weight on my boobs. How do I do that? Completely ok with putting weight on in general but on boobs in particular.

PrincessHairyMclary · 15/05/2016 06:39

I'm 10 stone 7 and happy with how my body looks but aiming for 10 just as a nice round figure I started the year at 13 stone. I can't imagine being 8/9 stone that seems tiny.

Teaandcakeat8 · 15/05/2016 06:42

I'm in my 20s and I'm 8 stone 2.

However a year ago I was almost 10 stone. I had always been slim but was creeping up to a size 12. Interestingly my friends/colleagues always told me they couldn't tell I had put on weight. Now I've lost it, they tell me all the time!

Combination of a break up and training for a marathon.

Branleuse · 15/05/2016 06:42

10.5 at the moment. Would really like to be under 10, but this seems to be the weight I hover at by eating what I fancy and getting moderate exercise at the gym

I keep thinking about maybe going on a proper diet, but that would involve smaller portions, and thats just depressing.

Thefitfatty · 15/05/2016 06:46

12 stone and happy about it. I've been 9 stone, but it's too thin for my frame in my opinion.

workplacewoe · 15/05/2016 07:11

10st 8lb. I look much better at around 9st 7lb so need to shift a stone or so.

sparkle789 · 15/05/2016 07:20

I'm between 5'6 and 5'7.
I was 15st 4, currently 12st 9 and aiming for 11st. That will make me a size 12 which id be happy with.

Lilaclily · 15/05/2016 07:25

I'm 10st2lb

My lightest was 8.12 when I was depriving myself, living alone, first time in a proper job in a flat in a new city
Heaviest was 13st 12 when I'd had 2 children and was bored out of my mind and drinking a bottle of wine a night

Happy now although wouldn't mind being 9st 7 !

Pollyputhtekettleon · 15/05/2016 07:31

I'm 9.9 now 5mths post birth of dc3. I'm shocked Inthesandpit that people thought you were worryingly slim at 10st? I'm a good size 12 all over at this weight. Someone said up thread they were a size 8 at 9.7-10.5, they can't possibly have that right, even accounting for heavy bones if there is such a thing?

I'd be a size 10 and a nice comfortable weight at 8.5-9 stone. So am aiming to lose a stone asap.

Thefitfatty · 15/05/2016 07:33

I was a size 8 at 9.5 stone. Actually my dress size was easily 4. I'm a size 12 bottom/10 top/10 dress at 12 stone.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 15/05/2016 07:35

I'm 5'6". Just weighed myself and I'm 9st 5lbs. I'm 37 weeks pregnant.

Eastpoint · 15/05/2016 07:39

9st 8lbs at the moment. Still losing weight having given up chocolate in March. I'm late 40s. Dd1 is also 5'6" and weighs just under 9. She wears a size 4-6, she's so slender it's hard to buy clothes so I can't imagine what it's like for people a stone lighter.

InTheSandPit · 15/05/2016 07:41

I know, mid "acceptable" BMI.
But my mother is the same height as me. We were the same weight. She looked healthy. I looked too slim. Collar bones sticking out, hips sticking out.
Now I'm about 15kg heavier than her (2 stone) and I can raid her wardrobe. It's bonkers.

ICanSeeForMiles · 15/05/2016 07:43

I'm about 10St 3 just now, and a size 10-12. Ideally would love to lose half a stone, but realistically won't give up crisps, wine and chocolate to do so.

In my twenties 7 stone 6 ( I was stick thin)
In my thirties 8 stone 6 ( before children)
In my thirties 9 stone 3 ( after children)
In my forties 9 stone 1 ( only just in my forties)

I would like to shift half a stone as I'm holding mush on the middle.
I'm going for a run...

Pollyputhtekettleon · 15/05/2016 08:23

Really interesting how weights translate into sizes and how different that is for everyone. I do think dress size is more an indication of appearance (not necessarily health) unless you are very tall or very short. I have the impression of 8 is very slim, verging on skinny. 10 is a lovely size, slim and healthy. 12 is healthy but a bit homely in spots. 14 is carrying weight but some people still look nice at this size. Anything over 14 is overweight. Is this similar to what other people benchmark at?

InTheSandPit · 15/05/2016 08:28

I think it depends on your height as well.
A size 12 at 5'7 is slimmer than a size 12 5' 2.
But yes, in general, I agree. Hence aiming for just over 11 stone and my size 12 trousers (even tho I can still wear my size 12 next jeans at 13 stone Confused)

ThisShitIsBananas · 15/05/2016 08:32

Absolutely amazed at all these 9 stone somethings!

DontDeadOpenInside · 15/05/2016 08:40

I'm over weight and have lost 2 stone so far hoping to get to 10 stone. Any lower and I look like a bag of bones.. I've been there before. Plus I couldn't maintain 9 stone either.

hankmarv · 15/05/2016 08:56

Currently weigh 10 stone and aiming for another 4 lbs.
it's crazy that I have been be 11 stone 9 and stay in the same dress size of 12.

A few years ago I got to 8 stone 8 and was a size 8- that weight didn't last long I couldn't maintain it, although I loved being that size!

VagueButlmportant · 15/05/2016 13:50

This thread is fascinating.

I'm 5'6 and at Christmas I was 11 stone 12. I was definitely struggling to get into my size 12 jeans at that point (except the ones from Next)

I'm now 11'1 as of this week, which means the NHS now tell me I'm a healthy weight! This was a bit of a target so I'm pleased to have got there, but I am now trying to get down to around 10'10 over the next few weeks and then stay there.

I'm comfortably a size 12 now and size 10 top half, although I realise that this might be due to vanity sizing. I am a very active runner - I run 6 miles 3 x a week and have done for over 10 years. I compete in local fell races and most of my running is off road on hills so my thighs are solid and massive (and probably account for at least a stone on their own!). I'm hoping as my weight drops my muscles might shrink a bit (maybe wishful thinking!)

I've always been heavy compared to how I look / feel. 7 years ago pre-menopause I got down to 9 stone 10. I looked ill, and kept getting ill. I was a small size 8 and it didn't suit me. Also my running suffered because I was underweight.

I'm amazed at the variety in weights and sizes.
