Chicken and salad - 350 cals

Racheyg · 02/01/2017 17:03

Welcome back sol it's good to hear from you.im sorry to hear things haven't been great. I'm glad you have had a great relaxing Christmas.

I think weight watchers is a great way to start. I have heard great thinks from family members at Christmas about it.

I was going to get a pressure cooker also green but I didn't in the end. What have you cooked so far?

I have just treated myself to a nutribullet.

pom that food plan sounds great.

It's day 1 of the body coach part 2 Grin

Breakfast = scrambled eggs with spinach
Snack = apple
Lunch = tuna fish cakes with cottage cheese
Snack = turkey muffins
Dinner= chicken satay

No exercise tonight haven't been to the gym for nearly 10 days, longest in nearly 18 months I haven't been to the gym Shock

Racheyg · 02/01/2017 22:57

pom Butlins for the kids was great, not my ideal place to holiday but they had a great time. Which was the main thing. I'm just dealing with tantrums after xmas. Oh well back to nursery tomorrow Grin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 03/01/2017 08:36

Thanks for the kind words, I'm feeling much better now, it was just a bit crazy in December and I couldn't balance it all out. Working 2 jobs was going great up until my hours increased and i was just running on empty, I couldn't say no to the money , which has actually meant that January won't be as tight as it normally is,but I was wrecked by the tim e Christmas came. And DH was working away quite a bit so all the housework and kid stuff fell to me. He's back now so the pressure is off a bit.

Pom your diet plan sounded lovely. I love the scarf you linked to. What sort of bag are you planning to get? I love handbags, I think I need to find non-stop based rewards for myself.

What are turkey muffins Rachey? Are they regular muffins with turkey in the batter? But mine is the sort of holiday we're looking at this year, they don't have theming Ireland anymore but they've similar places. The kids will love it and we can have a bit of family time.

Ds1 has just woken up, better run!

Pomegranatepompom · 03/01/2017 14:49

You're food plan looked good Rachey not sure if the tuna and cottage cheese is a difficult combination ?!

That sounds really stressful and just too busy Sol Glad things improving. Have you looked at centre parcs? It is expensive in school holidays though unfortunately. How's ww going?
I'd like a Chloe bag but they are vv expensive...

Is it day 1 today green ?

I really want to lose a stone in January.
Diet plan today:
Greek yogurt and berries 250 cals
Hummus/cheese (small amount) and salad 350 cals
Nuts and grapes 200 cals
Chicken & roast veg 350

Sorry for boring posts, my I want to make myself more accountable. Managed a run yesterday but still not back up to my 20 mins of running and doing a mix of running/walking for the last 10 mins.

Fast day tomorrow, so:
Yogurt and berries : 250
Soup: 150
Chicken breast & steamed veg: 250

I can't do 500.

Racheyg · 03/01/2017 17:19

pom the fish cakes are just tuna, flax seed, spring onion and garlic, with egg to bind. It's not the greatest but you can only eat per his plan.

Please don't worry about the posts I find it very interesting and I agree it's good to write it down. Ive started writing what I eat down in a journal. I do still do my fitness pal but finding it quite therapeutic writing it for some reason

sol the turkey muffins are turkey rashers with egg, cheese, and veg all mixed together its more like a mini omelette than anything. They are very nice Grin

I'm back to the gym tonight, I have a new heart rate monitor to try out so very excited.

green I can't wait to hear about your pressure cooker

Racheyg · 03/01/2017 21:20

Okay, I've just weighed myself at the gym on the scales that I always use.

11st exactly. Can I lose 2st this year? I hope it's Doable

Racheyg · 04/01/2017 09:49

Morning all.
Came on today so feeling sluggish.

Breakfast
Egg/kale and mushroom omelette
Snack
Pink lady
Lunch
Salmon with miso and spinach
Snack
Turkey muffins
Dinner
Turkey stuffed peppers

Greenrabbit · 04/01/2017 10:39

Good morning everyone.

Welcome back Sol, glad things are getting back to normal for you.

Pom, Rachey your food is so healthy. You must both be so organised.

I was supposed to start yesterday but that didn't happen. I made the excuse that DD had been sick so I was tired and trying to do all the extra washing that had created. But there is always something going on so I have to stop making excuses really.
Managed to order shopping for tomorrow, today I'm trying to be healthy.

I haven't had much time to play with the pressure cooker Rachey. I have made stock, soup, pasta sauce and a stew so far. I've found it's much quicker and there are less cooking smells. I'm pleased with that.
I love my slow cooker but hate the whole house smelling for hours.
I am going to try cooking a whole chicken at the weekend. I'll let you know how that goes.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 04/01/2017 20:30

Your menu's look so healthy Pom and Rachey, you will both shame me in to doing better Grin

How did the gym go Rachey? I got a free pass to go to Curves gym off a friend so I am going to try and go and see what it's like. It's probably no where near the workouts you do, what do you do at the gym?

Pom I'll join you in a stone gone by the end of January. It would be a lovely start to the year. Chloe bags are fab, you'll have to link to the one you want. I can live vicariously through you.

I hope your daughter is feeling better Green. Your adventures in pressure cooking sound good. I'm not really sure what they are, do they roast as well as boil?

I've lost 2 lbs so far this week. I'm happy with that and I'm hoping to fit in a walk when the kids go back to school next week. I can wear my leg and arm weights and get everything working. There seems to be a much more positive air on this thread, I can't wait until we're posting all of our losses.

Racheyg · 04/01/2017 22:53

green I never use my slow cooker, but I should. I don't think I will use a pressure cooker to it's full ability. I've heard you can even do yogurt

sol the gym was horrific I really struggled - and it was only a 45 mins spin class. Curves sounds like a great gym Smile do they have a swimming pool? Tomorrow and Friday I'm booked to do the double. A 45 min spin class followed by a 45 min circuit class. I'm not looking forward to it but I will be fine when I get my mojo back Grin what kid if things does curves offer?

Pomegranatepompom · 05/01/2017 06:56

So I've needed to supplement with a snack each day, yesterday I had a graze box. The day before I had some sliced ham and cucumber. but now day 4 of no chocolate etc do raisins count ?!
Hope your DD is better green also interested to hear about your cooking !
Super well done on your 2lbs sol and hope the gym goes well. Will link bag later, don't know how to do on phone. Yay for a stone in Jan and I agree we all seem positive.
Well done on the gym rachey
Hope everyone has a great day.
Diet plan same as yesterday but also cherries and nuts !

Racheyg · 05/01/2017 12:15

sol 2lbs is amazing. Well done.

Greenrabbit · 06/01/2017 09:38

I'm struggling here. Yesterday's diet was fine, but today I already feel like I want to eat everything in sight!
I'm still trying to decide if I actually want to follow a 'diet plan' or just try to write everything down?

DD is still ill, so has been off school again today.

Well done on the 2lb Sol. What type of things are you eating? Have you been to the gym yet? I think I've heard of that chain, is it based on circuit training.

You can do meat in the pressure cooker, I think you can brown the skin and then cook it under pressure? I've joined a Facebook group and everyone's joints look nicely cooked. I will experiment with a chicken at the weekend.
I've made more soup in it, not very adventurous.
You can make yogurt Rachey, I don't think I can in mine. People on the FB page seem to make lots of cheesecakes which look amazing. I won't be doing that!

I admire anyone for going to the gym. I haven't been for about 6 years Blush . The thought of it terrifies me.

Well done on the chocolate free days Pom. Could you use the bag as an incentive? Buy it for yourself when you reach your target?
I bought a Coach bag in their sale (not quite Chloe!). Finally seem to be reaching the stage when I don't need a gigantic bag anymore. So I bought a nice smaller one. I'm trying not to buy anything else till spring.

I better go do some housework. I'll try to post later, hopefully to let you all know that I avoided eating toast and crisps!

Racheyg · 06/01/2017 12:25

Morning all,

I'm seriously knackered. I'm really struggling to get my fitness back. I've just finished my 2nd class for the day and I'm good for nothing.

Food plan

Breakfast
Kale and apple juice (made in my new nutribullet)
Snack
Pear
Lunch
Bagel with turkey, beef and egg (build up bagel) they sound awful but they are very nice
Snack
Turkey muffins
Dinner
?? No idea will check the plan and see what I can have

Racheyg · 06/01/2017 12:30

green hope your dd makes a quick recovery.

May a diet isn't right and just use my fitness pal and stick to healthy options? It's so hard thou isn't it, I'm sure it weren't this difficult putting the weight on Grin

I'm desperate (dream) for a Chanel bag oh just laughs at the notion of spending so much money on a bag. Maybe when dcs are older and I don't have to tote so much crap around with me. TBH I would have to take a loan out for the bag which I doubt is worth it.

Greenrabbit · 06/01/2017 21:21

Thanks Rachey. I'm hoping she'll be back at school next week (so is she!).

2 gym classes is amazing! You'll be back to your normal fitness in no time. Do you pre book the classes?
How are you finding the nutribullet?
On the Body Coach do you only have the complex carbs after a workout?
I have the books, I should read them properly! Have you seen the DVD?

Thanks for the advice too. I've been having a think about it this afternoon. Diets seem to send me into a panic about what I can't eat. (So I want to eat it!) I think I need to change my mindset about it all. So I'm going for a healthier lifestyle rather than diet.

I think I'll go with your suggestion of MFP ( is it worth upgrading to premium?) I'm happy to add people as friends, send me a PM and I'll figure out how it works!
I'm starting out at 1200-1300 calories a day.

I am going to make more of an effort with making enjoyable healthy meals (especially dinners). I've made quite a few things this week and DH has had a lunch to take in every day (he normally buys something, or comes in starving with takeaway). So we all benefit with me being more organised.
I have so many cookbooks so it shouldn't be too difficult to find inspiration.

I'm also going to step away from the scales. Maybe just weigh myself twice a month.
I've got loads to lose but I will be pleased with 4-7 lb every month.

Exercise - downloaded a C25K app that is linked to MFP. I've also been slowly jogging round the house once an hour till I reach 0.5km.

Chanel bags are so lovely, they go up in price every year too (an investment!). I don't think I could ever justify one though (or afford it!). Plus I never go anywhere so it wouldn't be appreciated. It's nice to dream though.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 06/01/2017 22:35

green yes. Only carbs after exercise. His books are good for inspiration and his food is pretty tasty, even my oh eats his food. (but i add carbs with his)

I havent seen his dvd but his exercises do work, I lost most my weight doing his youtube workouts. I have looked back and I lost nearly 3 stone eating his meal plans and doing his exercise (i stopped in May and found it very hard to get back into)

I concur about the healthy lfe style and its great dh is on board as it makes a huge difference. My oh takes left overs, maybe your dh should save the money he would usually spend on lunch/dinners and you both could have a nice evening/weekend out? My oh is not buying alcohol to drink at home till we go away at the end of Feb, so I said why doesnt he save a treat himself.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 07/01/2017 08:56

Two work outs in one day Rachey
I would be carted off in an ambulance if I attempted something like that. What classes did you do? Your diet looks so healthy, you're definitely going to be in great shape in no time.

Green would you consider starting off at 1600 cals a day first and then reducing it by 100 cals per week until you get to 1200? I think suddenly starting at 1200 will leave you starving and it means you're more likely to fall off the wagon.

I only say this because I've started weight watchers and I should be on 34 points per day but I eat 40 (I've divided up my 49 weeklies over every day of the week) and I feel so much happier and I'm still losing weight. Some days I don't hit the 40, other days I have a vodka and coke in the evening and reach 40. It just makes it slightly less obsessive and I'm not starving. I think you're right to reduce weigh in's. I'm bloody obsessed and it really impacts on my mood.

The Curves gyms are a 20 minute circuit training routine. I'm hoping I can sign up for a few weeks and go when DS2 is in school. DS1's birthday is in 2 months so I'd like to lose a stone and a half by then.

I've lost 4 lbs this week so far but I had a few nuts and a Pad Thai last night (it was from the healthy food section and was full of tofu and veg so hopefully not too bad) but that that will be my weekly indulgence. I took the kids to Mc Donalds yesterday and ate nothing and was at soft play that does the most amazing wraps and pastries but I avoided it all.

My frame of mind has definitely changed. I don't want to be this size long term and I will chip away at it.

Has anyone tried Slimming World? The group of Mum's in school I'm friends with all signed up in June last year and were all awarded their 2 stone loss star before Christmas. They love it.

Greenrabbit · 07/01/2017 11:33

Thanks again Rachey. I'm going to have a look at the recipes this weekend.
I remember you doing really well last year (and you still are).

If I mention to DH that something is diet based he goes in a right huff Grin Last month he ate loads of very nice curry I'd made from a new WW book. When I told him he was unimpressed, I did point out that he'd had over 2 portions and with Nann bread, rice and beer it was a days worth of WW points in a meal. Wink
I will try to make more meals that have left overs for him. We do need to make the effort to go out more often. The babysitters aren't always willing though Hmm

4lb is fab Sol. Well done.
That's a great idea about the WW points too. It can be hard to get the balance right. I really struggled with the new point system, but found pro points fine.
I think I will just write down what I eat for the next 2 weeks and see if I lose much. If that doesn't work I'll count calories.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 07/01/2017 11:53

Sorry, had to see to children.

The Pad Thai sounds yummy Sol. Do you have a points calculator? It probably isn't too bad if it's from the healthy section.
I'm glad you are feeling positive. This will be our year, I'm also determined to chip away at it. I'm glad all the soft plays round ours have grim looking food! It takes great willpower to avoid pastries and Macdonalds (which is vile, yet it's difficult to not steal any of the fries!).

Would any of your friends let you borrow their Slimming World books? Or a quick Google will show you the food lists.

I was tempted to sign up again as there are some good offers on at the moment.

I did Slimming World ages ago (13years!) But it was slightly different then. It worked well as I had been eating far too many carbs. But I was going to the gym a lot and everyone at work was quite obsessed, so that made it easier.

I joined a couple of times since but I found that I really, really hated the meetings. Plus it seemed restrictive for eating out (I'd stopped exercising so much, so it was a struggle to lose if you went for a meal every week).

I do know loads of people who swear by it. You do need to cook lots from scratch though. I think you have to be careful with portion sizes too.

I think WW is more flexible. With SW your Pad Thai might wipe out 2 days worth of 'Syns' (so no Vodka and coke). Yet with WW it would probably fit in with a days points.

Horses for courses really.

Racheyg · 07/01/2017 18:31

Just a quickly will post more late.

green I meant could save not should. That sounded terrible when I read it back to myself

Greenrabbit · 07/01/2017 21:10

Ha, don't worry. I didn't read it that way. I'm always making typos.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 07/01/2017 22:15

I'm glad green, as reading it back to myself it's so full of typos and some parts sound so condescending because of them.

sol 4lb is amazing, you should be so proud of yourself. Ww sounds great, and it sounds so versatile. I think reading back it's not the diet it's being in the right frame of mind (well for me anyway) my mum does slimming world, she dips in and out of it. When she focuses she does really well, I just can't get me head around all the green and red days.

I normally do 2 gym classes a day on Thursday and Friday but not going to the gym for 10 days has really affected me. Also I'm struggling to kick this cold that I've had since before xmas.

Racheyg · 08/01/2017 13:07

I weighed myself, I know I shouldn't have done but was keen to see if I've lost anything. I'm 10st 11lbs so it's 3lbs off. I'm sure most of that is water thou.

I'm going to try and avoid weighing myself more than once a week but it's so tempting
