I have yoyoed with the same stone since the beginning of last year. Getting fed up now but need some motivation to stick with it. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm so near yet so far!

Will be weighing in tomorrow and posting all food eaten. Feel free to join me!

Porridge for breakfast here!

How long before the effects of eating/moving show up on the scales? My lowest day is always Wednesday but I can't work out if it is my weekend or weekday eating which is making the difference.

AShiverofSharks · 17/03/2016 14:13

Snap Twinkle :) Porridge and blueberries for breakfast. A rather large avocado on toast for lunch - not the best calories-wise, but I figure it's all good stuff :) Better than biscuits anyway. Biscuit-free for four whole days!

Weighed at the gym, 63.6kg. Not sure it's the most accurate, I remember getting on it 3/4 times in a row once and it gave weights in a range of about 3kg... So, not sure I believe the loss over just a couple of days, but as long as the general trend is down :)

anothermadamebutterfly · 17/03/2016 17:30

Porridge and banana for breakfast here Smile with a bit of honey. well done Twinkle for getting back on track. Shiver four days biscuit-free is great, and avocado is the food of gods! They are very good for you and full of all the right fats rather than the bad fats, definitely diet food I would say.

My new batteries have arrived, so there is no avoiding the scales now. Tomorrow morning first thing. My clothes feel a bit looser though, so maybe it will be good.

hinkyhonk · 17/03/2016 17:57

I accidentally fell face first into a tin of custard creams. Shit

anothermadamebutterfly · 17/03/2016 18:24

I would keep quiet about that to mfp, hinky

Twinklestar2 · 17/03/2016 21:32

Day started well but ended badly grrrrrr. This is why I can't shift this last bloody stone Angry

Hobnobs were unavoidable, totally not my fault, I had to buy them for a cheesecake, bastard recipe didn't need all of them & so then they were just, y'know, there.
Had a v spooling night away & did, reasonably well within reason, but there was alcohol & then spag Bol on my return at 9 pm tonight, far nicer than setting about a pot of cottage cheese or faffing about cooking a salmon steak, & then of course I had to have a glass of red wine to keep Dh company & catch up on the news with him Hmm
Hinky, with any luck you ate them all & they will no longer be able to taunt you from the tin, twinkle, JUSTTRYHARDER Grin
Good luck w itch the weigh in tomorrow anothermadam, back to it everyoneSmile

fadingblonde1 · 18/03/2016 11:21

Wasn't doing too badly until yesterday. Started off well, went to the gym and did an hour of cardio. Came home and could not stop eating. I picked all afternoon and finished off with a big bar of chocolate. Must try harder today.

anothermadamebutterfly · 18/03/2016 12:04

Oh no. I put in the batteries and I now weigh 10 stone 11lbs. This cannot be. I was certain that I had lost a few pounds as I wore some trousers yesterday that were a bit too tight two weeks ago. Unless the 10 stone 10 from two weeks ago was also incorrect Shock.

I am sure the scales are not working properly. Or the batteries? They were very cheap and bought online, so maybe there is still hope.

readyforsunshine · 18/03/2016 13:42

Seems a few of us are getting derailed, I know from experience I'm in the danger zone. I think a stone is tricky, motivation wise, tough to keep your eye on the prize so to speak. We know that if we put our minds to it we can lose 11/2-2lbs p/w so could be there & maintaining in under 2 months. You make a good start, feel a little better, relax a little/life gets in the way, next week no loss, not so bad, good few days, bad day, no loss again, what's the point? I was 'good' for 6 days? Slippery slope. I'm expecting no loss this week following last 36 hrs but plan to be strict with myself this w/e in order not to sabotage & regain, really don't want to repeat the same well trodden format, planning is key for me. Have a good w/e everyoneSmile

AuntieStella · 18/03/2016 13:58

I've been OK this week in terms of intake (as recorded on MFP, with the only doubtful one being guessing the nearest equivalent to a dish in a restaurant). But no sign of a loss on the scales.

I'll be jiggling them round on the floor soon to try to find a more encouraging reading!

anothermadamebutterfly · 18/03/2016 17:42

Stella it is worth a try: I just came home and thought I would have another go at the scales, shifted them to find a flatter place in the bathroom, gave them a jiggle, to see whether anything has changed, and...

they now say 10 stone 7, which means 1lb down from last week, 3lbs in total. I like this option better than the morning one, so I will put the earlier one down to a glitch, unstable surface, new battery settling in, that sort of thing.

Have a good weekend everybody!

Twinklestar2 · 18/03/2016 20:13

Ready - that's the reason I started this thread. To diet with like-minded people who understood that a stone is so near yet so far!!

readyforsunshine · 19/03/2016 08:13

Sorry twinkle!
Stella, keep the faith & drinking the water, you'll get your drop if you don't waver.
Hurray! Anothermadam, how many more to go?
Fading, on the plus side the exercise will be toning, hopeful?!? That's my problem with exercise, makes me starvingGrin

Twinklestar2 · 19/03/2016 13:31

No need to say sorry, ready, you described exactly how I feel! Hit the nail on the head!!

Had a lovely bacon sandwich for breakfast with small seeded bread, snacked on a whole punnet of blueberries. Now having soup for lunch - just a bag of soup mix from tesco cooked with diced beef to bulk it out a bit.

Tandoori chicken for dinner. Smile

Yesterday wasn't too bad apart from a handful of crisps and chocolate. Came home and had a big salad with my dinner to try and balance it out!

Twinkle just wanted to say thanks for starting this thread! sharing this journey with others definitely makes it more fun. I feel really inspired today, I have only lost a grand total of 3 lbs so far over two weeks, but already I can see the difference, some of the many clothes that I am trying to fit in again look as if they could eventually fit me again, which is a great motivation for me.

I have started some more exercise, went for a short run this week, one of the first times since I had to give up after an injury last year, and it went well, and have arranged to do to the gym with a friend tomorrow.

ready my target at present is to get below the 10s into the 9s. So about another 8-10 lbs. That would take me well into the healthy bmi range for my height. I will then re-assess.

Hope you are all having a good weekend!

Twinklestar2 · 19/03/2016 20:47

That's great butterfly!!

Bovnydazzlers · 19/03/2016 20:55

Evening all!
ready I believe you're right about being in the danger zone when it's 'only' a stone to lose, large chance that weight will plateau some weeks which leads to disheartened feeling about what's the point in continuing. Hopefully this thread will show examples of when we stick to it, we can keep the weigh loss slowly but surely.
I've been MFPing since 28th Feb, 5 pound down now with 10 pound still to go. I'm weighing daily and seeing some ups as well as downs but trend is okay.

What are everyone's

AuntieStella · 19/03/2016 21:02

"What are everyone's

AuntieStella · 19/03/2016 21:04

And if you save treats a bit, so 3 treats' worth of 100 calories is actually consumed in 2 snacks, most mini-Magnums are around the 140-150 calorie mark.

AuntieStella · 20/03/2016 10:23

I weigh 2lbs more than I did this time last week.

Even with jiggling the scales round.

anothermadamebutterfly · 20/03/2016 12:42

oh no, that is so frustrating Stella. hang in there, v. easy to lose heart at that point and give up. RESIST THAT TEMPTATION!

I have a cold coming on, my ears are buzzing and somebody has sandpapered my throat.

Snacks: not sure about the calories, but I think these could be under 100 cals: a small bit of cheese with some cut up tomato or cucumber (really nice with feta), celery sticks with some cream cheese (le roule is nice) spread on them. You can get low fat versions of most cheeses (some are actually OK, low fat mature cheddar is great, but low fat feta is not that great, I tend to go for the full fat versions but have less of them). I must be a cheese junkie, or maybe dieting makes me think about it a lot? Half an avocado with vinaigrette. Roasted spicy chickpeas (never done them myself, but a friend of mine does great ones).

Twinklestar2 · 20/03/2016 12:55

Off to a baby shower which means cake will be involved!

So I weighed this morning and I'm still 10st 8 so I stayed the same which is not bad considering the week I've had!

Well all good intentions...
Resisted last night after a long, hard, hungry day - Dashed in starving & cooked steak & salad then prepared chicken wings, ribs & potato skins for a hoard of hungry teenage boys watching the rugby. There was beer & wine & I had a herbal tea & an early night ( polishes halo)
V early start out with dd at pony club event. Pre prepared chia seed pudding & undressed chicken salad to take, managed on coffee until 11am, literally no time to eat pre prepared food. Was officiating in v helpful pony club mother role ( v not me Hmm when I was offered yet another coffee & cake. Turned down cake, now starving having been up for approx 5 1/2 hrs, & when was told "go on, why wouldn't you?" I just snaffled it down in one Shock
Later ate my wholesome salad then came home exhausted but on a high & sat outside by the fire & downed 3 Shock glasses of wine then a giant plate of cottage pie & cabbage. Was just the job, need to sleep it all off now though Grin
Chia pudding is still in fridge Hmm
