Me too, PLEASE help me get rid of my extra stone and a half (rapidly creeping up...)

I have 0 self discipline where food is concerned, mainly because pre-DD I could eat all manner of crap and still be 8st 9 at the end of it all. Metabolism must've slowed considerably as I am piling it on at a rate of knots

gingerbear · 19/05/2004 14:50

anyone got weighed yet?
are we having a weekly weigh-in?

JanZ · 19/05/2004 14:50

I've just been to M&S and bought their 3-seed loaf to have with the soup tonight.

I also bought bananas (to have with breakfast tomorrow) 2 bags of salad (£1 off if you bought 2 bags - and I'm trying to forget about the recent thread on chemicals in bagged salads) and a bag of cherries. The cherries were expensive but they looked SOOOO nice!

I've just allowed myself 10 - because they were expensive, it is easier to ration myself!

Tomorrow night I'm planning on making chili, using mince, plenty of kidney beans, onion, canned tomatoes and condensed cream of tomato soup - plus chili powder of course (adapted from a recipe in "The I Hate to Cook Book". How many points would that be?

I've never done Weight Watchers, so not really sure about points, daily amounts etc.

Hulababy · 19/05/2004 15:09

Sorry guys but I can't give up the alcohol I think I'd have to change jobs first but seriously I just don't feel the need to. I have alreayd lost a stone quite happily (and with not that much trouble) whilst still enjoying a drink most days. I always include it in my allocated points for the day so in that sense I am still okay.

NomDePlume · 19/05/2004 15:11

Think I might give WW online a go.

Hulababy · 19/05/2004 15:11

Janz - don't have my points list with me. I know that your points will only come from the mince, kidney beans and the soup.

If you want a copy later tonight though I can send you them - I have all the point values on Access (2000 or higher version needed) which is easier to search - ir, if you prefer, I have them in these formats: Excel, Word or Works.

Hulababy · 19/05/2004 15:12

gingerbear - I always weigh myself on a Thursday morning. Last week I was 8 stone 12. I want to be just under 8.5 stone. I am 5 foot by the way.

Sonnet · 19/05/2004 15:51

Hulababy - you have done so so well. Do you excercise as well?
I'm 5 ft 2 and before DD2 could eat what I liked and varied between 7st 12 and 8 st 4.
Now I did weigh9 st 12 which is far too much for my height, then lost 6lbs but piut some back on agian. Will weigh myself when I buy the scales on Friday!
BUT I am determined to shift it this time....
Please could you send me a copy of the points on excel???. (I contemplated ww on-line but the cost is prohibitive)
Good luck with your final 7 lbs - I'm aiming for 8 st 4 too!

gingerbear · 19/05/2004 15:53

better watch out re copyright and those ww points spreadsheets.

Sonnet · 19/05/2004 15:54

The Codmother says we have to weigh ourselves EVERY DAY - hence the need for me to purchase scales as use Boots once a fortnight at the moment!.
Coddy did do a link to some in Argos which i will purchase on Friday.
I think the resoning behind the once a day weigh in is to keep us focused and motivated when we loose that half a pound! - I asked Coddy for help so I'm jolly well going to do what she says!!

Sonnet · 19/05/2004 15:55

Didn't think about that Gingerbear (it's all those pints of wine!)
Don't worry about it then - I'm sure Coddy will tell me off if I eat too many points!!

Sonnet · 19/05/2004 15:58

How much do you wnat to loose Gingerbear.
I am 22lbs at the worst or 16 lbs at best, or possibly something inbetween...
I have got a "do" in % weeks and ideally would love to loose 12lbs by then......that was the challenge I threw Coddy on an earlier thread!

gingerbear · 19/05/2004 16:21

As much as poss!!

2 stones at least, but am aiming to get to 10 stones as a first target. At 1 to 2lb per week should take me.......2 months??

JanZ · 19/05/2004 16:34

Sonnet - I used the book "Fabulous in a Fortnight" by Monica Grenfell (?) in the run up to my wedding. (ie more than 2 weeks!).

In addition to losts of nice recipes, some of which I still make 'cos they're so tasty (eg Spxiy Chicken with Chili Fried Red Rice), it has a porgramme of exercsing and "beautifying" to get you to your best for a big event.

Amanda Ursell, the nutritionist from the Sunday Times recommended it as a very sensible regime.

Hulababy - thanks for the offer. For the moment, I'll see how using this thread for motivation, encouragement and advice, together with making a concerted effort to eat sensibly, will work for me. I suspect it will have a WW bias, as you all seem to be "up" on points etc - but I am not sure I can be bothered with the counting!

It's going to be difficult enough cutting out the wine to keep in Coddy's good books! But as she says, it's only one week! (and I do have a passport photo to take!)

feezy · 19/05/2004 16:50

I'm back and about to do my tesco shop and wondered about snacks - any suggestions?? I'm happy with Branflakes (does anyone remember Bran Buds i use to love them but haven't seen for a long time) and banana, skimmed milk , salads etc but I get sooooo hungry between meals.

gingerbear · 19/05/2004 16:56

I need ideas for low fat snacks too (fruit doesn't fill me up)

rice cakes, carrot sticks and low fat hummous, spoonful of oats mixed into a low fat yogurt.....

any more?

coddycodcod · 19/05/2004 17:12

LOL gingerbear - I know the copyright issue, but hopefully they won't find out It is a couple opf years out of date too so not the most up to date. But it works for me.

Sonnet - e-mail me at claireandrich(at)beeb(dot)net

Oh and Sonnet, I don't do any exercise at all other than normal day to day stuff - you know, carrying 2yo DD, waling into and around town once or twie a week.

coddycodcod · 19/05/2004 18:54

Good sncaks for me are
cherry toms
rice cakes
a big tub of raisins( the best IMO)
grapes
all fruit
but you need to avoid going into the kitchen really so try and avoid
also diet coke

JanZ · 20/05/2004 09:04

I'm sure it's just fluid loss (although I've been good at drinking water!), but this morning I was 11 stone dead . (down 2lb from yesterday, but only one pound from the day before)

For breakfast this morning I added a banana to my cereal (mini shredded wheats) and didn't put on sugar. I had HALF a glass of OJ - really just a taste.

I've brought in my packed lunch - salad, plus a tomato and a low fat dressing, boiled egg and 12 cherries. I still have an apple from yesterday.

What's the suggested menu choices for next week? I go shopping tonight.

Sonnet · 20/05/2004 09:24

Hi,
Just signing in....
Can't weigh myself yet as no scales till Friday. Don't mind what we do about weighing Coddy ( every day or weekly) I'll be guided by you oh master!
Had a great day yesterday - eat healthily during day, drank 5 pints of water, went swimming at lunchtime, had baked potato and salad for supper followed by melon, strawberries and low fat yog and went for a 2.2 mile run. Also did 50 sit-ups and 50 flabby arm thingys! - I am v.impressed with myself.
Today so far had cornflakes and a drop of skimmed milk for B'fast. FORGOT banana and the office canteen only has brown ones so I've got an apple instead!
Worried about getting hungry today though - I'm hungrey already....
Can't manage swimming this lnchtime as some nice person has scheduled me a meeting BUT will go running tonight!
Will be doing shop on-line tonight...looking forwrad to this in a bizarre sort of way!
Cheers for book janz - did a body scrub and deep most last night, also face pack and a good slug of turnaround cream. Will stick on a fake tan at wekend when got time - psycological me thinks!
