I have my first appointment with my consultant booked for three weeks time. I've done lots of research and prepping and just wondered if anyone else was in the same position? I could do with the support! Smile

Welcome everyone. I have a sweet tooth so I purchased quite alot of the cookies and cream bars. I prefer those to the shakes for breakfast. I love the pasta carbonarra and pasta ham and mushroom soup but not keen on the tomato one. Sorry not much help veg.
Anyway going to have a cheeky weigh in at the gym tomorrow. My nasty ww scales are occasionally shoeing 12 something so I must be less than the 13 stone I weighed in on Friday at the gym.

PayAttentionNigel · 09/03/2016 07:21

Weighed myself! 12.9!!! Woohoo! Very happy with that :) can't believe it really. but still feel hungry after my shake so not in ketosis I guess? Off to work which will be a good distraction from food so long as there's no more cake :/

vegetablerightsandpeace · 09/03/2016 08:36

Thanks for the welcome brown.

Well done Nigel. I haven't weighed myself, but feel strangely lighter this morning. I think it's probably just from having an empty digestive tract though! Grin

I've not felt hungry at all, but think that's down to the beta-blockers, as I've had a reduced appetite since I've been on them anyway and they mask the signs of low blood sugar, which is good in one way, but does mean you have to be careful to eat at regular intervals or you can end up with hypoglycemia without realising it.

Day 3 for me today. Just made myself a mocha, after looking out the window and seeing how dismal the weather is. Made sure I whisked it a lot and put it through a strainer and it was ok. Think I might add a bit more water next time, as it was very thick. Still had the odd aftertaste you get from all the products, but passable.

Right, off to brave the elements and get dd to school now.

plumstone · 09/03/2016 08:57

Bollocks - just wrote out my tomato soup recipe. Basically, add powder to pan, add garlic salt, lots of dried mixed herbs and black giddy pepper, add water (more than 200mls - i was close to 400) whisk till gently boiling, into a bowl and eat fast - not perfect but as good as I can get it.

Haven't tried the Thai or veggie soup, I am not actually a soup fan, mushroom and cream of Tomato are the only two I like and I stupidly thought the tomato from Exante would be the same Hmm

Bad luck Veg on not liking the pasta carbonara - I have been playing around with this and the Spag Bol. adding slightly less than the 200mls of water and letting it stand for 10 mins, then gently microwaving on medium and stirring every 30 seconds. Haven't found one I hate.

Shake wise - well I need to expand those, only bought the raspberry and white choc, strawberry cheesecake and chocolate (for someone who doesn't actually have a sweet tooth, they have been acceptable) never going to replace a Greggs chicken bake - but being able to eat my body weight in them is why I am hereGrin Have a note to buy the vanilla next time as I love a mocha and you can add instant coffee to it and its lovely!

Cheeky mid week weigh in and 3 pounds down from Monday - hoping for a 4/5 pound loss this week and that means I will be in the 10s for going home at Easter.

Someone asked about temptation at work - I am not a lot of help on this, there is only me an one other person in the office and she is a petit size 8, in the two years we have worked together I have seen her eat breakfast and lunch and that is it - I have never seen her eat anything out with those times - interesting though if she brings a kit kat in as a "treat" it becomes part of er lunch and instead of a wrap & soup (her go to daily lunch) will have the soup and the kit kat and not eat the wrap - she does not think anything odd about this. Another thing I have learnt is that if she has lunch and is half way trough and decides she is full she will without thinking throw whats left away - Again this is something I would never do and just poor through till the whole meal is finished regardless of how I feel.

Good luck for today everyone and sorry for the epic post xx

vegetablerightsandpeace · 09/03/2016 09:06

Thanks for the soup recipe plum. Might give that a go this evening.

It was actually a choca-mocha that I made myself this morning. Really wanted something warming and comforting before facing the elements.

Your colleague sounds like she has a really healthy attitude to food and the ability to recognise when she's full. I wish I was like that.

plumstone · 09/03/2016 09:31

She does, her breakfasts can be anything from porridge and a banana to today's offering which is a pain au chocolate - she really does not give any thought to what she eats - when I asked her about it she says its just the way she is three meals a day and snacking does not enter her head. I asked about the cinema, and her (and I hate this as it makes such sense) answer was - see the film at lunch time and have a big bang of popcorn or a hot dog for lunch, if she sees an evening film, she either has dinner before she goes, or have a hotdog from the cinema and sweeties for dinner. She also looked at me oddly when I asked as if doesn't everyone do that?? I have also over the months of working together asked about emotional eating and again I hate this - she and I quote "nothing ever gets to me that much" or I go online shopping - put loads of stuff in my basket and then either buy it and return or go to bed, and delete the next morning - I don't think I have met anyone who is that balanced about food. IF she wasn't so great o work with I would hate her!!!!!!!

browneyedgirl1974 · 09/03/2016 14:39

My weigh in at the gym wasn't great. Less thsn a pound off since Fridsy but at least it wasn't a gsin and it translates to 12 stone 13.88.

plumstone · 09/03/2016 14:52

A loss is a loss so that great!!!!

PayAttentionNigel · 09/03/2016 15:30

Haha at the empty digestive tract Veg.

I agree with Plum! A loss is loss, Brown plus you've got into the 12's and its not the end of the week yet so I'm sure you'll have lost more by this Friday.

God, Plum your work colleague sounds amazing! Wish I had her outlook on eating, I have a feeling it will never come naturally to me but it's not much of excuse really as I know I eat too much and eat too much crap food so I'll just have to try to stay on top of it I guess. Not feeling as hungry this afternoon just hope my Thai soup is nice later.

plumstone · 09/03/2016 15:55

She is - she is also not British so I don't know if that has anything to do with it!!.

To be fair I have never eaten after dinner - which stems from childhood, no tv in the kitchen and we don't have central heating (old house and this was the 70s!) if we were hungry in the evening, you had to eat in the kitchen (DM had a fear of spillage - fair point I was a stupidly clumsy child) The thought of leaving the warmth of the fire and general chit chat to have a snack in the cold dark kitchen made me and sibling think really hard about how hungry we were.

My DB is the same - at about 9pm his wife will always have a snack (fruit, toast, couple of biscuits or crisps etc) he just thinks its odd.

Now gi-huge-mous meals three times a day of rich sauces, and a lot of convenience foods (typical meal would be: soup in the winter, followed by a couple of crispy pancakes, veg, proper deep fried chips, gravy, bread and butter and then something like a fruit crumble, lemon meringue - every Fecking night) light eating did not exist even in the summer!!!!!!!!

MiniCooperLover · 09/03/2016 18:06

All my things are here ... Starting tomorrow. Nice dinner and a glass of wine tonight and then off I go Smile

Cambridge Weight Plan - anyone on it or about to start it and want to support each other?
PayAttentionNigel · 09/03/2016 18:31

Very exciting mini! :) enjoy your dinner and wine Wine

Well I've been a complete idiot and worked out my weight wrong :( used the Google converter as our scales are in kg (I was just too lazy to change my husbands settings) so converted 82.1kg in stone but it can't do it properly as there are 14lbs in a stone so I'm actually about 12.13. Bugger.
Oh well, will weigh myself on Sunday and maybe I'll be 12.9 by then.

Does anyone know how accurate home scales are compared to the ones you pay for in boots? am wondering if I should just do the boots ones as I used those last year when dieting as our old home scales had broken. Just wondering which would be better for accuracy as it seems I am numerically challenged Blush

plumstone · 10/03/2016 08:48

Morning all, Mini - Good luck with your first day

Pay, with regards to scales, I have no idea; I have gone with the ones I already have, and just go with the same "conditions" each week which are scales in exactly the same place, naked first thing in the morning, after the loo but before anything is consumed. To be fair though my scales are digital and I have a little switch that can go from pounds, to stones and the Kgs. I keep them on stones as being thoroughly ancient I have always struggled with the entire metric conversion thingy.

Bit of NSV last night - tried on my White company black jersey dress, which I bought about five years ago in a size 12 and I can get it on, from the waist up it looks great, just a bit of a hip and arse issue which I am hoping a couple of weeks and another half stone would be great. Have sent it for dry cleaning in preparation!!!!

Have a great day everyone!! xx

MiniCooperLover · 10/03/2016 21:22

Thankfully Day 1 has gone ok, I messed up breakfast (eggs & bacon), think I cooked it too long and it was awful Shock So I threw it out and had a bar which was delicious and kept me going to lunchtime (it helped that I was busy with work). Lots of water and a decent blueberry shake. Carbonara was ok for first try. Hot water and chicken cube as a snack and a small glass of coke zero and 8 pints of water has kept me going.

PayAttentionNigel · 11/03/2016 07:17

Glad day one was OK mini :) how you getting on Veg and Brown?

and well done on the dress plum! I've got soooo many things in my wardrobe I can't fit in, lovely to read about you guys further along in the diet reaching these milestones.
Had the Thai soup yesterday and I thought it was lovely, also really liked the banana shake which is odd as I'm not massively keen on banana normally but the vanilla shake this morning wasn't that great. Going to treat myself to a choc pudding tonight!

plumstone · 11/03/2016 08:36

Morning all - official weigh in today - and another 4 pounds off, 11.2 - really want to be in the 10s next week, two weeks today and its Good Friday so really want another 7/8 pounds off before I am away with family.

So feeling it in clothes now, last notch on belt, and everything just looking a bit baggy - and not in a good way!!. Hair cut and colour tomorrow, and may have a manicure, then a mooch around the shops.

Mini - first day is the worst - I love the eggs and bacon - have you tried omelette style - non stick pan - couple of sprays of one cal spray. Mix up pack, add mixed herbs and salt and pepper. Heat pan and once hot, add the egg mix. Give it a couple of minutes till you can tell its cooked on the base, then bung under the grill for five mins. flip onto plate and can be eaten with a knife and fork which is a bit of a novelty - I like it like this - keep with the water!!!

Have a good one everyone!!

MiniCooperLover · 11/03/2016 09:10

Thanks Plumstone, that's very helpful as I was a bit lost, I definitely rushed it and the pan wasn't hot enough, plus not enough seasoning. I'll try again tomorrow. Luckily they'd put 2 bars in as a 'tester' so I've had those for Bfast yesterday and today and though I'm not a sweet fan they're actually ok aren't they! I've done an order of bars to come today as my back ups.

Well done on your loss! If I got to 11lbs over 2 weeks I'd be ecstatic Smile

plumstone · 11/03/2016 09:27

Thanks Mini - but to clarify my starting weight on the 1st Feb was 12 stone 7, and I am now 11 stone 2 so been doing it 6 weeks and lost 19 pounds in total, ten were gone in the first couple of weeks - water weight, and its been steady 2-4 pounds off every week since. there have been the odd ( and I really mean odd, devotions, usually the addition of salsa to the burger, or a cheeky cheeses nice to ease hunger before I go to sleep

I am so with you on the bars, I have no sweet tooth at all, to the point that I, according to call with DF last night, still have three tins of chocolate at his and do I want it or can he eat it - Dad its fine munch away!!!

Was a bit sceptical about the bars, but really enjoy them - espesch the white choc and raspberry - thing its the amount of chewing it takes!!! The one I am not keen on is the double chocolate - a bit solid if that makes sense!! The lemon one is lovely, but they are all acceptable!

vegetablerightsandpeace · 11/03/2016 09:29

Morning all, sounds like everybody is doing really well. Well done Mini on surviving your first day.

Unfortunately, I have come down with a virus. At first I thought it might just be the usual fluey symptoms you get when you start a VLCD, but on top of a snotty/sneezy nose and horrible banging headache I'm having temperature spikes, my throat is so painful and I've lost my voice.

So, I have had to shelve the diet for a few days, with a plan to start again next Monday if the worst of the virus has passed. First weekend in ages we haven't had anything we absolutely have to get done and it looks like I will be spending it tucked up with a Lemsip. Hmm

plumstone · 11/03/2016 10:40

Veg - thats too bad!!! Take care, lots of fluids and sleep Flowers Definitely shelve it, need to be firing on all cylinders for this to be successful.

browneyedgirl1974 · 11/03/2016 11:45

Sorry you are poorly veg. Great about dress plum. Re scales I had some pretty inaccurate manual scales when I started. Now use gym and some weight watchers digital which seem to weigh the same. I didn't get a proper reading till end week 1 as my scales were so rubbish. So 13 13 week end week 1. Now end week 6 I weigh 12 11 1/2. Pretty pleased but don't think I will make 12 by end of month. This is my 1st target to take me out of obese. Althoug I think that was because I weighed more than I thought at the start.

browneyedgirl1974 · 11/03/2016 11:47

I had a haircut this week too plum Enjoy your treats.

plumstone · 11/03/2016 12:05

Thanks Brown, if you ignore Easter chocolate - no thats just me then!!! there are three Fridays left in March 3.5 pounds each week - 12 stone dead is totally doable - I am sending you positive thin vibes!!!! You have already lost over a stone so thats awesome!!!!!

browneyedgirl1974 · 11/03/2016 22:56

Thanks plum can survive without chocolates. Will be due an additional food week just before I go away so will have to up food intake gradually. Don't want to be sick again. Going half board on holiday so will have to make sensible choices. Incidentally I was starving this evening so had some chicken. Will be surrounded by gorgeous cakes tomorrow so will have to be strong.

MiniCooperLover · 12/03/2016 12:28

Am out for the day with DH and DS. Have had a bar for Bfast, a chicken stock in hot water while they had cake but will struggle for lunch. Will try and stick to a protein and veg option.
