Has anyone tried the Freedom diet??

I'm seriously thinking about giving it a go - a couple of people from work have lost loads of weight over 6 weeks and say it wasn't too hard (their lunches looked really good and not too 'diet-ey'). I've tried loads of different things and never manage to stick to them but this sounds quite sensible and doable.

Anyone else tried it..?

Hi Lawn I've been wondering how you were getting on. So glad you're liking it and well done on your fab weight loss!

The maintenance plan isn't really another full plan like the 6-week one, instead it's a set of guidelines and advice to use in order to create your own recipes and carry on with the healthy eating but also being able to adapt it slightly to fit in with everyday life. I'm still using most of the recipes from my plan, but I'm also now experimenting with making my own things and am also a bit more lenient with portion sizes. Instead of weighing things out, I'm just eating until I'm satisfied.

It's working really well for me, and all the good habits from following the plan are quite natural for me now - no chance of me returning to my bad old ways of skipping meals and snacking on crap.

Keep us updated with your progress, sounds like you're doing really well Smile

Sounds great BitterLemons - very inspiring! Any chocolate on the maintenance plan - ?!!

Ha! It advises to keep sugary things as an occasional treat. I don't like the high cocoa varieties but I'm guessing they'd be ok as lower sugar and meant to be quite good for you..?

Is anyone else on the maintenance plan yet? I'd really like to swap some recipes...

Just me then, it seems...Blush

I have lost a further 2lbs whilst following the maintenance plan though Lawn so I'm planning on adding in a little bit of chocolate and a glass of wine or 2, but only during the weekend, and following the plan strictly during the week. How are you getting on?

Ok so I've signed up!! Received my plan yesterday - it looks good, I'm really pleased with it and am feeling really positive. Getting organised with shopping and food planning this weekend and will commence on Monday. It is sad that I'm actually quite excited..?! Blush

So the first 2 days have gone fine - amazingly I haven't been hungry between meals (I'm usually a BIG snacker!) and the food is all really nice. Had cheese on toast for breakfast, mushroom soup for lunch and will be having chicken risotto for tea soon. This seems very doable at the moment, fingers crossed I actually lose a few lbs this week...

I don't think I could last an afternoon on mushroom soup though? Any snacks allowed?

Still doing ok on the plan - although a Friday night without wine is going to be a struggle Confused. I'm going to make the veg pizza to stop me feeling too deprived, along with a fizzy mineral water in a nice glass Wine

Sorry Crème I hadn't seen your message - it was surprisingly filling and I had it with a wholemeal roll. 1 snack a day is allowed too, but the main meal recipes so far have been really filling me up!

Breakfast today was scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, and for lunch I had a bagel with turkey salad and an apple. I had a handful of cashew nuts about an hour ago too.

Just checking in to update that I've lost 3lbs in my first week - am very pleased with that, let's hope it continues!

Week 2 and another 3lbs down Shock I've stuck to it 100% this week - zero wine all week! So I'm now 6lbs down.

I was tempted to stuff my face with several custard creams when I got home from work tonight, but as I had my dinner ready in the fridge I told myself I'd eat that and if I still wanted biscuits I might have one. But after my food I'm all full and don't even feel remotely interested in the biscuits Halo

Does the plan rely on a lot of cooking - is there a lot of faffing with recipes and so on? I don't eat a lot of ready meals but I do tend to prepare things that are very simple when I'm cooking.

BitterLemons1 · 24/06/2016 11:10

Hi Trippy, I haven't done any more cooking on the plan than I was doing before really. For breakfast I now usually have either a smoothie, porridge, or eggs or cheese on toast. If it's a work day I often take a big salad in for lunch, which I put together the night before, with some chicken and a boiled egg and a piece of fruit, if I'm at home I'll have something like a tuna mayo bagel, or I'll blitz up some mushroom soup and have it with a roll. For dinners I make simple meals that we all have, like sausage casserole, shepherd's pie, a quick risotto, pasta bake etc. If I'm being particularly organised at the weekend I'll make a few big dishes and freeze them ready for the week. None of the recipes are complicated or fiddly, and they're all just regular ingredients.

Now I've reached my goal weight and am following the maintenance plan I still use most of the recipes, and I am REALLY not a natural in the kitchen Grin

Another 2lbs off here - so that's 8lbs in 3 weeks Smile Six weeks til my holiday and I'm well on target to reach my goal by then.

I'd second what BitterLemon says about the food prep - I haven't found it to be a pain at all, and I really don't have a lot of time for cooking. I do some at the weekend, so it's all sorted and ready for the week, and then maybe make something from scratch on one other week night. Working well for me so far, and I'm enjoying having some new recipes to try as was majorly stuck in a rut before this.

Eek I'm really tempted to have a glass of wine tonight! I haven't had any for a couple of weeks now but really fancy one tonight. I've still got my snack to have after dinner later so am thinking 1 small glass of wine and some cashew nuts doesn't sound too bad - surely it can't do too much damage..? Might have a smaller portion of dinner (steak and vegetables in a mustard sauce - I'll have less than the recommended portion of new potatoes Halo)

So another 2lbs down this morning - I'm frankly stunned! 10lbs gone and I can really notice it now.

I did have the glass of wine, but I'd reduced my dinner slightly to compensate. I emailed the diet coach to ask about alcohol and whether I really have to avoid it totally for the first 6 weeks (as clearly I haven't been!) and she replied to say that's it recommended but that the plan has got to be workable for me in real life too, and if I want the occasional drink, then it shouldn't stall weight loss as long as I stick to the rest of it. And it doesn't seem to be reducing the weight loss - maybe I'll have to rethink if weight loss slows down or stops, but for now I'm happy to include a weekend glass of vino Wine

I was about to embark on The Body Coach when I found this with Howhardcanitbe being on that thread and then this.....clearly with this being more successful. Congrats to BobberBop, Bitterlemons, Howhardcanitbe who has lost seemingly a lot of weight, I have just signed up: after 2 years of gaining more and more post baby weight and trying a few weeks here and there of sugar free, VLCD, 5:2 etc with every passing diet seeing me gain more after I stop. I am hoping a plan just telling me what to eat will take the decisions out of my hands and allow me to just focus, once I am on the right track for long enough I am hoping I can be me again and not this food hoover I have become! I will keep following this thread for motivation knowing someone else is doing it as there is so little info out there on this diet.

Just weighed in, avoided scales for months...it's not pretty Sad now for measuring which will be even worse!

Hi Kingston lovely to have you aboard, I was beginning to feel lonely here by myself Wink. I know exactly what you mean about jumping around from one plan to another, I was exactly the same. I am much more focused now, and it's really helped to have some nice new recipes to try and to be able to get in touch with the diet coach with questions or wobbles, when in the past I would've just fallen off the wagon and given up completely.

Hope the measuring went ok..?

Thanks for the post. Measuring worse than weighing BUT I figured it's OK as I've started down the road to a better/thinner/more normal me...I hope. The food diary for yesterday and today being brutally honest is truly awful. Food quite good but the snacks!! It's like a tuck shop for a school for a week - each day!! Blush
I have a target in mind, not necessarily svelte but certainly something that is acceptable for my holiday (not yet booked as can't bear to book anything swimsuit like being this size/shape) end of September where I don't feel embarrassed so 12 weeks to go I am feeling motivated, can't wait to get through this week doing food diary and get my plan. Let's hope there is some ideas for changing my whole relationship with food. Hmm

I've lost another 2lbs this week - although I have done loads of exercise too. My goal weight is already seeming very achievable! Shock

Well done you! I am waiting for diet plan, I am being quite good so might have lost a little before diet starts anyway (here's hoping)!
Sounds great that you have been exercising, losing weight is the main goal but to be overall healthy is a close second and I think that only comes from exercise. I need to lose some before I can face a class though.
2lbs is a great loss in a week....will check in with you next week :-)

Thanks Kingston - I'm only 2lbs off losing a stone now, so am really pleased! I'm feeling much healthier in general too.
