Had a sneaky weigh this morning and have lost 1.5lbs since friday so that has motivated me again

Gym creche booked for next 3 mornings - can't go today because ds2 still has green, runny nose and will not be allowed in!

Will be spending the morning sorting out the wee cat that has appeared in our garden over the weekend and has decided to take up residence in our porch. Unfortunately, we can't keep it as dh not a cat-lover (although he did say if it had have been a little dog...) plus ds2 terrified of the poor thing so howls everytime it looks in through the window. So will be on to the Cats Protection League again this morning.

Morning everyone.

Thats good loops well done .
Just keep that wedding in mind.

Have an interview today at Four. I'm so nervous. Haven't worked since I was 7 months pregnant. It's in a gym called esporta. I think I will be working the bar if I get the job. It will just be a little part time job to ease me back in to working. It means free gym membership if I do get it . Will def take advantage of that.
Wish me luck.

loopity · 09/01/2007 11:01

Good luck lornaloo
BTW that's the gym company I go to over here

Really. Wow, its quite a swish one isnt it.

loopity · 09/01/2007 11:56

I really enjoy going there, lornaloo - hope you get the job x

I'm stuck here writing out leaflets about this lost cat!

OP posts:
lornaloo · 09/01/2007 18:54

Hi, I'm back from the interview. Went well I think, although they did have 2 more people to interview after me. They said they will call me tonight to let me know. Fingers crossed.

Loopity are you keeping the cat untill someone comes forward?

loopity · 09/01/2007 19:48

Hi all
Lornaloo, I phoned around all the animal shelters nearby and they're full, and nobody has reported it missing as yet. It's been outside our house from the weekend. The poor wee thing seems to think it lives with us but dh saying there's no way we are taking it on, especially as the toddler really, really doesn't like it (although he loves the border collie from up the road!).

I did give the cat a sneaky bowl of milk earlier today as I couldn't listen to it's whining at the door anymore. I know I probably shouldn't have fed it at all - left the milk out at the bottom of the drive in the hope that it wouldn't know which house the softie lived in! I'm going to put some leaflets through the nearby houses tomorrow if it's still hanging around to see if it's owner lives around here. Anyone else any ideas about what to do with it?

hi to all, fingers crossed on the job front lornaloo, re the cat loopity, not much more u can do really after asing around where u live and putting up posters, do people report missing animals to the local police station?, and the local vets maybe?
Well been good again toady, brekkie stewed fruit, lunch yoghurt and for tea small serving of chicken and asparagus with two tablespoons of taglatelli(sp), 2 coffees and 2 green teas.am trying to drink more water, got through 1.5litres today so step in the right direction

costababe · 09/01/2007 20:02

can any of u regular gym goers advise me of the best way to proceedwith getting back into the gym starting next week? About 4 months ago i di something to my lower back, and ended up with 3 vertabrates out, that has beensolved but i still get a few pains on and off and have to take it easy, was wondering if there are any particular lower back strenghtening exercises i could do, i want to start with my situps again but am a bit worried in ase i do more damage than good. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

sasa15 · 09/01/2007 20:04

I started a diet yesterday....and I had pizza tonight,,,,,,,,

how do i get back to square 1...????!!!!

I will start again tomorrow..........

but I feel down...

loopity · 09/01/2007 20:14

Costababe, I reckon Marls (or mummydoc?) may be able to advise you. I'm thinking you probably need to strengthen your abdominal core muscle group again but no idea what the safest exercises would be to start off again. Swimming may be fine though seeing your bodyweight is supported in the water so less strain. Did you see a physio at all, they might have some recommendations?

Sasa15, join in with us if you want - we were doing well but put some back on over Christmas. Weigh-in is a Friday and there's plenty of support and chat on here. We try to stick to healthy eating and exercise.

thanks loopity, i saw an osteopath, but i only have average spanish, and he speaks no english so it was hard to discuss what i could do to strenghten my back apart from gentle exercise??!!!, need to try to pick up one or two gears in my language skills, i see another new years resolution

skibump · 09/01/2007 20:54

Well done Lornaloo, that's just the sort of inspiration I need to get down to the gym as well (Esporta too!!!)I'm certainly not going to manage this just by controlling what I eat - no will power in that direction. The only saving grace is ds now demands a share of anything I'm eating, and HE'S not allowed chocolate etc. hmmm, do as I say not as I do must do better

Costa, try pilates if you can find a teacher - great for core muscles

MrsFish · 09/01/2007 21:20

Well I went to the gym and had an ok day till I got home.

Brekkie - 2 crumpets and gold
Lunch - vegetable soup
snack - sm scone (113 cals) with philly light and raspberry jam
Tea - 2 slices xmas cake, 3 jacobs crackers(light) with philly light, last bit of feta cheese that was floating about in the fridge, 6 morning coffee biscuits (25 cals each) chunk of cheese so mad at myself

Marls001 · 09/01/2007 21:46

Hi Costa Agreeing with Skibump & Loopity ... pilates is a great core-strengthener, & classes have advantage of an instructor to supervise movement. Seeing a professional - or just approaching the trainers' desk & asking the quick question you asked here - may be well worth it to avoid injury again.

One simple exercise they might recommend is the plank: facing the floor, your arms from elbows to hands are on the floor, as are your toes, and the rest of your body forms a straight line between them - try to hold for as long as you can ... (but check first to make sure this is safe for you.)

Welcome Sasa!

Lornaloo, that would be SO motivating. Hope you get it!

MrsFish - at least cheese has some calcium ... - that's what I'd be telling myself!

lornaloo · 09/01/2007 21:47

Hi everyone.
I got the job. I start on sat. I'm so excited.
I'm going to use the gym there after work on sat. Its so nice. No kids aloud in this one though.

Costababe I know that planks strengthen your lower back and tummy muscles. You lie on your front, lift your body up with your elbows and feet and hold for 8. You want to be straight so that you look like a plank. You will know when you have it right because it really hurts your tummy and you shake abit. It works well though.

loopity · 09/01/2007 21:50

Well done lornaloo - just logged on to see if you'd any news before I settled down to watch shameless on channel 4!

OP posts:
Marls001 · 09/01/2007 21:50

MrsFish ... meant to add that I do that all the time, especially with sweets. Start again tomorrow. It's an average of everything you eat over days that makes the difference ... I have to tell myself this all the time, that I can make one day not really matter in the long run ...

loopity · 09/01/2007 21:53

Mrs fish, at least you were at gym today so burned off some cals - I've done no exercise at all today. And missed lunch so ate a creme egg

OP posts:
MrsFish · 09/01/2007 21:57

Thanks guys. I need to get next week out of the way and sort my head out a bit. Will try and be good tomorrow, I've eaten most of the crap that was lying around. Chucked the rest of the scones, I had bought them for ds but he has refused the ones I have offered so were tempting me big time. Xmas cake has nearly all gone so will save the rest for dh.

If the weather is dry tomorrow will attempt a nice long walk, feels like forever since I last went out with ds.

Oh and well done with the new job lornaloo, step in the right direction

skibump · 09/01/2007 22:23

Good news Lornaloo, well done

Mrs Fish, I've just done exactly the same, really good all day, then a HUGE portion of chips this evening and no exercise. Hope the weather's nice tomorrow, ds & I could do with some fresh air as well

Thx for tips on the plank everyone, I'm going to try that, try to remind my core muscles that I'm not pg anymore!

dislexicicecream · 10/01/2007 11:39

lornaloo · 10/01/2007 12:45

Dislexicicecream. I keep thinking your baby is 4 months old still. I was thinking, wow he's crawling at 4 months old. Keep forgetting thats what he was when Loopity started the thread and that was a few months ago now. So how old is he now?
I take it your dp is in the army? Must be hard not seeing him for so ling.

I told you all about my new weighing scales didn't I. Well they measure your body fat percentage. I am focusing on reducing that rather than actually losing weight. I just want to tone up now really. Iv'e been doing these tae bo workouts everyday for the past week. They are really good. I have 4 dvds by the same bloke so I don't get fed up doing the same one all the time.
So on fri I will post any weight loss and body fat% loss.

dislexicicecream · 10/01/2007 13:38

hiya
he has just turnd 7 mounths the other day and is very proud of him self for crawling now he can play with the other 2 lol ,but yeah its mad thinking this threed was started when he was 4 mounth and most of the weight i lost i have put back on! hummmm big kick up the ass time for me

your new scales sound good, how much wear they? i got on myine this morning and found the bloody batterys run out lol its not like i have been using them lately !

loopity · 10/01/2007 14:51

Hi dislexicicecream - great to have you back on board again

Hope the next 6 months go quickly for you and dp - will be thinking about you both. Don't worry about putting a little of the weight back on - I had lost around 6 of the 10 pounds we originally wanted to lose - have put 3 and a half back on again! So I'm only 2 and a half pounds into our 10lb challenge now - I wonder if I'll ever get there but you are all such great support and motivation so here's hoping

Went to gym this morning - did a 15 minute hill run on the treadmill, 5 mins on the rower and some quick reps on one of the weights machines. So feel better now that I'm back into it again - just need to push the running distance back up again. Back tomorrow again and Friday morning.

Here's hoping for a loss this week on weigh-in day
