New thread ... which was very nearly entitled BiMoFos ... thank heavens for preview

OP posts:
WigWamBahhumbug · 04/12/2006 22:20

It's definitely a slippery slope ...

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 22:20

...

WigWamBahhumbug · 04/12/2006 22:22

Stop it now, there's a good girl.

Tsk, they really know how to push the boundaries, don't they ...

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 22:23

Whaddya mean 'they'? . Can't keep up the festive ones anyway - they take too much thought. I just do the normal ones almost without thinking.

WigWamBahhumbug · 04/12/2006 22:25

It's the kind of comment I find myself making to other mothers when my/their offspring are pushing their luck ...

I will not never, ever actually use a festive emoticon.

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 22:33

Not even if they do a festive version of , or ?

justaparupapummum · 04/12/2006 22:58

Jackie, you have no idea of the trauma I went through trying to spell my new name the right way. I may have to give up on it soon and join WWB as justabahhumbugmum (actually, that might be as bad)
I've got nothing to say about losing weight, I keep thinking about it but I haven't quite got to terms with being back at work yet and food is prepared on a very ad hoc, whats in the freezer? well we'll have that then, manner with no planning or forethought whatsoever. So I think dieting is out of the question until after christmas now.
wwb, just for you
merry christmas xx

justaparupapummum · 04/12/2006 23:06

littlefish, how about littlefishdrummerboy!

tick tick tick tick tick tick tick

[sound of justamums brain trying to think of more witty puns on the word little in relation to christmas]

JackieNoHoHo · 05/12/2006 09:22

I like 'Littefishdrummerboy' too. The only other thing I can think of with 'little' is 'the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head', and I'm not sure that lends itself to making a name.

WigWamBahhumbug · 05/12/2006 10:53

What about LittleFishDonkey?

The only Christmas emoticon I would use would be a Bah Humbug one. Although an one might look suitably Grinch-like to make an acceptable substitute

I'm having problems with eating well at the moment, I'm rehearsing a play three nights a week, I don't have time to eat before I go out, so am eating after I get home at 10pm. Dh keeps promising to cook for me but doesn't, so I end up throwing things like pizza in the oven or grabbing a Chinese takeaway on the way home - not the best of food, and not the best time to eat it. On the positive side though it means extra walking three nights a week ... but the walking doesn't really balance out the extra calories from the junk food!

JackieNoHoHo · 05/12/2006 10:59

It's going to be difficult in general over Christmas isn't it. Sounds like you're under a lot of stress with the play as well as having no time/opportunity to eat 'proper' food.

I think we'll just have to try really hard to take the long view, eat healthily where we can, and accept that this is a long journey - we may go back a few steps, but we're still further forward than we were when we started (or if we're not, at least we're still on the road).

WigWamBahhumbug · 05/12/2006 11:09

I'm not too stressed with the play, apart from the fact dh has gone back on his word about making sure he's always here and putting dd to bed on a rehearsal night. I haven't done anything at the theatre since I was pregnant, because his work is often unpredictable and babysitters don't exactly beat a path to my door, but he convinced me that it would be OK, he would make sure he was here, blah blah blah - now he tells me he can't promise anything and I may end up having to miss rehearsals, which I hate doing as it's so unfair on everyone else. Otherwise it's OK ... food apart, of course! Plus the props lady brings muffins and little cakes into every rehearsal and it's rude to say no, isn't it ...

I have to agree - it's a long journey, but we're still all on the road and not sitting in a ditch having fallen by the wayside!

JackieNoHoHo · 05/12/2006 11:12

Yes - more mince pies here today. As you say, rude to refuse. I'm fully expecting to put on some weight over Christmas, but I'm hoping to keep it vaguely sensible, if I can. It'll be the being at home when there are loads of treats around.

Is this the play where you have to have forties style hair (that was you, wasn't it?)?

WigWamBahhumbug · 05/12/2006 11:31

Yes, that was me. I'm hopeless with hair, and was hoping someone could come up with a nice easy style that even I could manage!

JackieNoHoHo · 05/12/2006 11:32

And did they?

twoisenoughmum · 05/12/2006 11:35

I like LittleFishDonkey best for LF's Xmas name -but what's wrong with LittleDonkeyFish?

I've racked my (rapidly disintegrating) brains for a new name for me, but can't come up with anything. Although since my extra fat can mostly be accounted for by wine, perhaps it should be:

Twoglassesisonetoomany.

Not very festive though?

Working myself up to weighing myself tomorrow. Haven't done it for a few weeks - heaven knows what I'll discover. Might find out I need to lose 30lb rather than 25.

Am off Xmas shopping now, hope you all have a good day.

WigWamBahhumbug · 05/12/2006 11:41

No! There were a few suggestions but all beyond my capabilities. The best I can come up with so far is to make rolls with combs. The director is muttering about Marcel waves but I think she might have another think coming.

Twoisenough - don't sweat too much about weighing yourself. Once you get over that initial moment when you stand on the scales it will be fine. Don't get too hung up about the exact amount you may have to lose either, that way madness lies.

What about twomincepiesisenoughmum for your festive name?

JackieNoHoHo · 05/12/2006 11:45

Marcel waves. Blimey! I thought rolls with combs. And presumably loads of hairspray.

WigWamBahhumbug · 05/12/2006 11:50

The Wardrobe ladies have been bending her ear, I don't think it's the director's idea. They are adamant that the hairstyles must be authentic - although whether they come up with authentic costumes is another question, since they've never managed to find me a costume yet! We got to the dress rehearsal of the last play I was in and I still hadn't got any costumes - luckily one of the cast was good with a sewing machine and knocked me up several 50s outfits overnight, otherwise Ma Larkin would have been dressed in jeans and T-shirt.

JackieNoHoHo · 05/12/2006 11:52

WEll if they want Marcel waves, tell them they'll have to do them.

WigWamBahhumbug · 05/12/2006 11:55

I can't quite see my mop being tamed into Marcel waves, whoever gets to do it ... I lean rather more towards the "through-a-hedge-backwards" look.

Dottydotthehalls · 05/12/2006 15:42

ooh - didn't know you were on the stage WWB - how exciting!! Dp did lots of Am Dram when she was at university and is pining to go back, but evening jobs and kids, and all that seems to get in the way... I'd love to have got up on stage but I'm always the one playing in the pit (play violin!).

Not had a bad day so far - tuna and bean salad for lunch, 1 satsuma and (so far...) nothing naughty! Doing exercise last night really re-energised me, so I'm aiming to do the same tonight.

LITTLEdonkeyFISH · 05/12/2006 19:21

I will catch up with you all tomorrow - I'm off to yoga now, but just wanted to come and show you my new Christmassy name.

Sorry WWB! My rule is - nothing Christmassy until December.

LITTLEdonkeyFISH · 05/12/2006 19:21

Forgot to say - thank you for all the suggestions. This one is fab!!!!

Dottydotthehalls · 05/12/2006 22:14

More exercising done tonight and only a few squares of chocolate consumed (and it was green and blacks dark chocolate, so hardly counts!) - I need a Christmas saintly emoticon..! What's the betting though that being good for 3 days won't counteract the naughtiness of the last month..? Glad I seem to have broken some of my bad habits though - no biscuits for 3 whole days now - it's a breakthrough!
