New thread ... which was very nearly entitled BiMoFos ... thank heavens for preview

WigWamBam · 01/12/2006 22:50

That's actually rather beautiful ...

JackieNoHoHo · 01/12/2006 22:57

She's rather lovely, isn't she.

WigWamBam · 01/12/2006 22:59

It's gorgeous - a nice reminder that the female shape is meant to be rounded and not concave!

OP posts:
JackieNoHoHo · 01/12/2006 22:59

Damn right. Very tactile.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 01/12/2006 22:59

I love that statue!

JackieNoHoHo · 01/12/2006 23:01

Hi MrsJC - love your Christmas name. How's it going?

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 01/12/2006 23:45

ooh sorry missed this
Yes, all fine! except for being up for 3 hours in the night with screaming DD (no idea what's wrong with her, probably just celebrating being 2 next week early). Feeling distinctly grotty today

JackieNoHoHo · 02/12/2006 20:32

Poor you. And her, of course. Hope tonight is (was?) better.

Dottydotthehalls · 04/12/2006 09:39

OK, it's Monday and I'm back on the sensible eating wagon... Been off it for a month really, but have decided today's the today to start drinking that water and eating that fruit again. Will need lots of sympathy when I'm grumbling please! Have asked dp to throw out all my gluten free biscuits and cakes (this is possibly where I've been going wrong over the last month!) and I'm even going to do some exercise tonight .

Wish me luck!!

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 16:21

Good luck, dottydot. I was going to be good today, but someone at work made mince pies, so I couldn't really refuse. Would have been rude, wouldn't it? I do love mince pies...

Dottydotthehalls · 04/12/2006 16:23

Well, I'm not doing too badly - have had 2 glasses of water (bleugh) and just my lunch (as opposed to my lunch, some chocolate, the odd biscuit...). Whether I'll be doing my exercises tonight is another matter...

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 16:26

I don't have any problems drinking water, well, not when I'm at work, anyway. I don't drink enough water at the weekends, usually.

twoisenoughmum · 04/12/2006 17:34

Hello BigMoFos. Can I join you lot please? I've lurked around on MNet long enough looking wistfully at the weight loss threads but don't quite have the balls to join in (bit shy). I had the idea of starting my own thread, but only JackieNo answered my post and she pointed me in your direction. The only trouble is, I really don't want to do WeightWatchers or Slimming World or any of those, and I'm slightly phobic about the word "diet". Is this the place for me. What am I supposed to do?

PortAndLemonaid · 04/12/2006 17:40

Hello twoisenough!

BigMoFos Creed

The BigMoFos are about attitude as much as anything: some of us were cheesed off with 7 stone people posting about being bloaters, and whingeing because they needed to lose 4lb and how hard it was. We just wanted a place where people understood how large people feel, and where we could feel supported in a way that those 7 stone people couldn't manage to support us.

We do a weigh-in on a Wednesday, but not all of us weigh in. Some just follow the thread for support, whichever you would feel more comfortable doing. It's all pretty free and easy but it seems to work. Email is [email protected] if you want to join the weigh-in, otherwise just hop along for the ride.

Our rules:

No beating yourself up (we will do that for you if necessary)
Each week is a new week and you leave last week?s problems behind
No pedantic grammar corrections (unless what you typed really doesn?t make sense) we are quite smart and will work out what you mean.

I think pretty much everyone here started off with at least 4 stone to lose in many cases very much more and I think we all have multiples of stones left to go towards our ultimate targets. Most of us aren't doing any specific 'diet', although a few are doing WW (in my case, online because I like their weight tracking thingy, and I more or less ignore the actual diet bit). We all know what we should be eating, and I think the BigMoFos help us to explore the reasons why we don't just "eat less and exercise more" and begin to change those ingrained behaviours.

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 17:54

Hello, twoisenoughmum. I wasn't sure if you'd read my reply on your thread - we're a friendly lot on here, and everyone's very supportive of whatever you try to do - even if I'm not losing weight, just talking about it really seems to help with understanding why I eat more than I need to.

twoisenoughmum · 04/12/2006 18:09

Oh good. Sounds like the place for me. This morning, I had one of those moments like an epiphany: it finally dawned on me that if I asked myself the question just before going to bed at night "Today, have I expended more energy than calories I've consumed?" and I could answer "Yes" to that, say, 80% of the time - then I'd get this issue sorted out. Like the rest of you (I suspect) I don't need to count calories or points or anything to be able to answer that question accurately. I just know in my heart of hearts if I've eaten too much. So I'll give it a go. I need to lose about 25lb btw. Thanks for having me!

justaparupapummum · 04/12/2006 18:27

hi, just posted to show off my new christmas name, although some of you may argue that mindless zombie was more apt! WWB, i have written the cheque, I just haven't got round to finding an envelope or buying a stamp yet. I am a busy (nearly typed busty!) woman dontcha know

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 20:02

Like the name, justaparuppapummum (not sure I've spelt it right, though).

Twoisenoughmum - I think you're absolutely right that pretty much all of us on here know all the theory of losing weight. It's just putting it into practice that we find difficult.

AveyourselfamerryLITTLEFISHmas · 04/12/2006 20:20

This is my Christmas name. It's the same as last years, so if anyone can think of something else witty and sparkling, please let me know.

I had to drop the "h" at the beginning, because the name is too long!

OhLITTLEFISHtownofBethlehem · 04/12/2006 20:22

Or, what about this one??????

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 20:24

I like both of those Littlefish. (I think WWB disapproves of the festive emoticons, so use them sparingly in her presence)

Dottydotthehalls · 04/12/2006 21:48

Hello Twoisenoughmum (and you're quite right there..!). Join in and don't even mention the dreaded word 'diet' - they're bobbins and don't work!

Meanwhile I've had some down bits today (eating 3 pieces of flapjack) and some up bits (just did 45 mins of exercise - first time in a month!). So I just have to not do the flapjack eating tomorrow and it'll be perfect! .

WWB - why don't you like the Christmas faces then??!

WigWamBam · 04/12/2006 22:17

I want a Bah Humbug one ... I don't do festive names either (just call me Ebenezer )

Welcome toisenough - if you were nodding furiously at anything in the spiel that Lemonaid posted then this is the right place for you!

OP posts:
JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 22:19

It's the slippery slope towards tickers, isn't it (just doing that to annoy you really, sorry)

WigWamBahhumbug · 04/12/2006 22:19

Although I did use this ^^ as a Christmas name briefly last year ...
