As the first thread is full, I thought I'd start this one to dip a toe in the water and see if anyone else is still around. At the end of the last thread I think a few of us had decided to have the summer off and come back to it in September - so here I am.

Hope a few of the old gang are still around Smile

helmans mayo with about a tsp of mint sauce - easy peasy.

I am hungry today, i had my smoothie but its not cutting it today so i will have a bpc in a mo.

I am VERY excited today not only have i been asked to be a god daughter to friends new baby (very touched) but we also have a homing visit to see if we are suitable for a rescue greyhound. Only prob is DD - 3 wants a cat as she thinks it will walk her to school - i think she is getting her animals confused!!

ProfYaffle · 15/10/2015 15:39

To be fair she might not be wrong. There's an old gent who walks his dog near me and every day his cat follows the pair of them all round the walk! We all stand by the window and watch the little procession go by.

Exciting about the greyhound, will wait pictures with interest.

Mint mayo is now def on my list to go with my freezer full of lamb!

I am making cauliflower pizza - i am trying a new recipe so i will you know how it turns out. Its going to take all day as i have just realised i dont have half the ingredients and i need DS to wake up first before we can go shopping.

Good day yesterday food wise, i am getting back into the swing with relative ease. I have been making toast and carby food for the kids and i havent been tempted. Its just the bloody cheese that keeps calling and i have to have it in the house for the kids. I will buy mild cheddar as its rank but the kids will eat it.

Its the last push to get the house ready for rental this weekend, so that should keep me off of the wine!

Blodss · 16/10/2015 11:51

You will have to tell me what the cauliflower pizza is like desperately.

Prof how lovely. Im sure you will get your greyhound.

I have bought a new book today. Was at the shops at the crack of dawn as had to drop family off at various places. Its Madeleine Shaw book "Glow". Lots of lovely looking clean eating book. Need to start making some of these recipes instead of just drooling over them,.

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 16/10/2015 12:13

Oh love a new recipe, so do share any fab ones Blodds.

I have made cauliflower pizza before but this is a new reciepe, the last one was a bit soft, so i have wrung the life out of the cauliflower this time. I can recommend cauli pizza as its lush.

Its me hopefully getting a dog - the lady had the cancel the home check yesterday, she is coming today instead. So i have spent lots of time talking about dogs with the kids but my DD still wants a cat on a lead to walk her to school. There are tonnes of cats around here who all use our garden as a toilet! and she tries to entice all of them into the house. Having a greyhound will sort out the cat poo issue!! Plus lots of lovely walks and cuddles, we just need to be matched to the right dog, which i know is very important but could take ages.

DS is just waking so off to buy pizza toppings - thinking pepperoni and green peppers.

LetMeBeLight · 16/10/2015 12:18

Morning all,

We had a leak yesterday, so I had to stay home for the plumber, which actually worked out rather well as I was feeling rather ropey - like a bad hangover only I haven't had a drink in nearly a week!

How exciting about the dog Desperately!! They're great for losing weight, with all the walking!

Good luck with getting the house ready this weekend. And have good weekends to all.

ProfYaffle · 16/10/2015 15:47

Well I'll be a bit startled if a Greyhound turns up at my door! Grin Though we have had a similar cat toilet problem since our large, roughty toughty, King of the Neighbourhood, street fighting cat died. All the neighbourhood cats are now literally desecrating his grave on a regular basis. Not sure I could cope with a canine solution though.

Weighed myself this morning - 2 fucking lbs back on! Though PMT may explain both that and my utter rage at the news.

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 16/10/2015 15:50

note to self -when it says use baking parchment and spray with oil to stop cauliflower pizza base from sticking - DO IT as i now have a beautiful looking pizza base the problem is i cant get the kitchen foil off of it!! AArrgghh all that prep and ingredients wasted and i have nothing else out for dinner!

katydye87 · 16/10/2015 16:03

Just reading through this thread, hi everyone! x It's lovely to hear that we have some cat lovers! I lurve my little furry friends and I am so sorry to hear that you have had a gain today ProYaffle. I think our hormones do play a part I think with weight loss. Sometimes I get a little emotional and just start crying for no reason at all, then I think to myself. Is this normal?! lol x

ProfYaffle · 17/10/2015 08:00

I know you're all agog so - weighed myself this morning, 3lbs lighter than yesterday Confused I give up trying to make sense of this, I really do. I've decided to start taking measurements as well as weighing, wish I'd thought to do this from the start.

Hello Katy and welcome. How long have you been LCing? How are you finding it?

Oh no Desperately! Such a shame about the pizza, did you manage to scrape it off and at least eat some of it?

OP posts:
desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 17/10/2015 08:53

Hi katy - welcome on board. The more the merrier. I have found that this WOE-ing has helped my pmt. Messes with the scales however. I havent unpacked them yet and dont want to find them as they lie as you can attest Prof. I did take my measurements - just havent fond them yet! I was looking at some photos of DS as a baby 18 months ago and i was HUGE, so whilst i have a long way to go i can see its working.

I do love cats ( i had pepe the stray, he was a character!) but not the ones that poo in my garden. The home check went well so i am hopeful.

The pizza was firmly attached so it went in the bin, the bits i peeled off tasted nice. The kids had frozen pizza and we had doner and shish kebab takeaway, i had one tiny bit of the nan bread it comes in and it was horrid def not worth the carbs.

Have a great weekend everyone

Blodss · 17/10/2015 20:00

I have found this way of eating beneficial regarding hormones too. I find that if I eat carbs I start getting hot flushes but if I cut them down then the hot flushes stop.

I also have a cat and she is lovely and cute and dumpy.

desperately shame about your pizza, it was all going so well.....

I will start reading my new book and pass on any recipes that I try out.

Prof the scales definitely used to go up when I was due on and then abought 3lbs came off a few days after.

ProfYaffle · 18/10/2015 18:26

Well now that was liberating! I just sorted out my cookbook shelf and got rid of all my old dieting books. Can't quite believe the collection I had, especially considering all the WW books went a couple of years ago. I had numerous SW, Hairy Dieters, the FastDay cookbook, 1,000 calorie counted recipes, a series of Harcombe books as well as a stack of SW magazines.

It feels so good to be free of all that and now I just have the random set of quirky old vintage cookbooks (ranging from Victorian housekeeping books to 70's self sufficiency and foraging) I love and I'm very happy about it!

OP posts:
desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 18/10/2015 21:22

Well done prof, i got rid of 2 months supply of exante (vlcd shakes) and tonnes of old sw magazines - i know have a shelf rather than a bookcase full of books i dont use. I did buy a book on sauces - now i am not afraid of fat i have started making some lovely french sauces.

I have the inlaws over for lunch and did roast beef with all the trimmings, i also made swede roasties and they were surprising nice.
Saturday i ate hardly anything as i was too busy and even when i was starving i sat in Mc Donalds with the kids and didnt even pinch a chip! I am very surprised by my will power.

Blodss · 18/10/2015 21:43

Sorry Prof about the greyhound. haha!

ProfYaffle · 19/10/2015 07:57

Oh, well done Desperately. I've never done a vlcd but they sound like torture, you must be very pleased to get rid of those! Well done on resisting the chips. I now allow myself to make proper home made roasties for the rest of the family as I'm confident I won't pick at any.

No worries Blodss - unless you've sent me a greyhound! Grin

Finally the house is all ready for tenants to move in on saturday - so thats a great big weight off of my mind. Now i have no excuse not to tackle this house - sigh!!

I WILL go dairy free this week, i have a lovely marinated italian chicken with salad and wedges for the kids for dinner tonight. I have had my BPC this morning and i am still full. I am 2 weeks away from my trip to Madrid so i am hoping to lose a little bit more before i go. I have some trousers which whilst can do up i cant actually breathe in whilst wearing so i am hoping to remedy that with a dairy free week.

VLCDs are very hard - they work however i lost over a stone a month but a month feels like a long time when you cant eat anything and it ruins your social life. I dont think they are good for you, living on 600kcals a day cant be good and i put the weight back on with startling speed - i wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I nearly cried at the expense however.

ProfYaffle · 19/10/2015 14:13

I had your minty mayo at lunch Desperately! I deliberately cooked lamb yesterday so I'd have some leftovers this week, I stir fried it with some chard from the allotment and had it with minty mayo - was lovely!

Well done on getting the house sorted too.

A friend of mine did the Cambridge diet (I think, one of those vlcd anyway) and she had a similar experience, lost the weight but gained it back fairly quickly.

OP posts:
Blodss · 19/10/2015 16:14

Prof haha.

desperately I don't believe VLCD work long term. Even slebs who go on them and are spokespersons for the brand end up gaining the weight again and definitely not healthy. I think low carb/lowish carb/ paleo is a healthy way to eat. I don't go too low carb and will even have some oatcakes and paleo treats in my week and I am still slowly losing weight. I feel that as long as your "diet" is made up of mostly fruit and veg, meat and fish, nuts and seeds, herbs and fats from natural sources then you are doing well.

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 20/10/2015 07:51

Morning all, happy tuesday! I had a good day food wise, dinner was lovely and i got the chicken skin just right! I fed the kids first and hubby and i ate later, so i ate all the kids chicken skins whilst i was waiting - yummy!

I am going to fast today, i have in previous bootcamps and had good results and with christmas fast approaching i need to pull out all the stops. I still havent found my scales but i am sure i am half a stone off of my lowest weight in the summer - so thats probably a good thing as it would be too depressing. I should also be hitting my 3 week stall any time now.
Today i will eat a bpc and an avocado and kale smoothie but i will probably have that at tea time - just need to hang in there today.

ProfYaffle · 20/10/2015 13:06

Good luck with the fast Desperately :)

OP posts:
desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 20/10/2015 13:22

Thanks prof - bloody starving but only 4ish hrs until dinner, i have been doing the countdown since 7 hrs! It does get easier eventually. UUrrgghh

In other news had my xmas decs arrive and now i am even more excited. I have been pinning low carb xmas food ideas - i think i will try to do a low carb xmas as this is a way of life not a diet. Looking at recipes probably isnt helping however!

LetMeBeLight · 20/10/2015 18:02

Afternoon all.

I've not weighed in about a week, so not too sure how I'm doing! Food wise I've been fine, drink wise a bit too much wine over the weekend, and exercise wise, pretty poor. My bad ankle has really been playing up so just doing the bare minimum dog walks (with a limp!)

Think I'm going to abstain from drinking for a while and if the bad ankle persists, try going swimming instead.

Hope you managed to stay strong on the fast desperately! What does a fast day involve?!

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 20/10/2015 18:03

I had a bit of a moment in regards to our rental property (long story) and HAD to eat something as i couldnt be angry and hungry! So i ate my alloted 500kcal in pork scratchings - so not healthy but very low carb. Feeling much better but still miffed!

The fast wasnt that bad i just had a hungry tummy but energy wise i felt well. Glad its over however. I even managed to resist the cheese when i did the kids dinner!

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 21/10/2015 12:55

Yesterday i spent most of the evening fantasizing about what was going to eat today! In the end i had a BPC for breakfast and i have justhad a green smoothie for lunch.

For dinner tonight i am doing a low carb cottage pie, i just hope the meat defrosts in time!

Not feeling any slimmer! Yesterday i found a pair of scales in the charity shop according to them i was 15st!! I am hoping that they are there as they are wildly inaccurate
