As the first thread is full, I thought I'd start this one to dip a toe in the water and see if anyone else is still around. At the end of the last thread I think a few of us had decided to have the summer off and come back to it in September - so here I am.

Hope a few of the old gang are still around Smile

Yes but you are generally 2 to 3 lb heavier at the end of the day, always. You have eaten and drank lots. By morning most of it has been assimilated and flushed out haha.

Fluffybrain · 08/11/2015 23:56

So....I have the same waist size as Princess Di!!! Oooooo!! Blodss your cereal sounds amazing.

Blodss · 09/11/2015 02:47

Prof I wonder if you can lose weight from your head Confused

Fluffybrain · 09/11/2015 06:20

Prof I do not know about heads bit certainly shoe size can go down when you lose weight. I remember going from a 6 to a 5 when I lost a lot of weight over 10 years ago. Maybe the head is similar. Fat sits everywhere a little. Fingers get smaller too. Anyone found that their rings are looser? Well done blodss on breaking your next stone barrier. I have lost 3 stone 10 lb since mid May. Weight loss has slowed recently. I still need to lose 7 lb to be normal weight range. Ideally would like to lose another stone after that.

Blodss · 09/11/2015 11:32

That's brilliant Fluffy. Do you see yourself eating this way forever?

Fluffybrain · 09/11/2015 19:46

Thanks! Yep this is me forever now. So easy. When I get to target I will have things occasionally that I wouldn't have now like a glass of wine or a piece of cake but I will stay fairly low carb and don't think I will ever eat bread or pasta again.

Blodss · 09/11/2015 20:23

Im the same Fluffy. I still have the occasional piece of homemade cake but it is generally paleo. My hormones are stable with this woe but if I eat some dairy or wheat or sugar then I get hot flushes again and aching knees.

ProfYaffle · 10/11/2015 06:35

I'm a LC lifer I think. I'm perfectly happy on it, I'm not missing anything really though I'll probably reintroduce pulses quite soon. I find that if I say that though, people get a bit panicky and all Shock about it Confused

ProfYaffle · 10/11/2015 08:19

Lol - just re-read, that makes no sense! I mean other people get panicky about me being lc for life, they don't seem to mind the kidney beans so much! Grin

Hi Guys!

Sounds like you're all doing well. I didn't have the best of days yesterday as I ordered my wedding cake! So tried lots of different flavours. I'm glad I did, as I was surprised by some of the flavours I liked. But it did seem a bit of a waste of calories/carbs as I'm not really a cake person!

Blodss · 10/11/2015 14:07

Letme it doesn't matter, choosing your wedding cake is a once in a lifetime thing. (Hopefully) Food shouldn't stop you enjoying the special times. I still enjoy things that I really really want and adjust my food the rest of the week. If it's a way of life eating then you need to let go sometimes. If it's just a short term diet then usually when you stop low carbing the weight goes back on quickly and then some, so just see it as weekly progress rather than daily Smile

Fluffybrain · 10/11/2015 17:18

What kind of flavours wedding cake did you like Letme? Agree you absolutely can have your cake and eat it, so to speak. I had strawberries dipped in dark chocolate the other day. It wasn't as nice as I had hoped. I usually have my choc cold and hard out the fridge. Arriba Superier 81% from Lidl. When melted it just tastes too strong somehow. Also, yesterday I was in town and decided to pop in to a shop to see whether I could fit into a size 12. Amazed that I not only got them on but could also fasten them!! Ok so they were uncomfortable, flab spilled over the top and they defo did not fit but having come from being a size 18-20 in May I was pretty excited.

Fluffybrain · 10/11/2015 17:24

Prof I reintroduced kidney beans when I started having veggie chilli. Felt very daring at the time. I know what you mean about other people being shocked by long term low carb. The idea of not eating bread rice or pasta is inconceivable to some. But I'm used to that being vegetarian. They look at you like you are mad and say "...but what do you eat???"

ProfYaffle · 10/11/2015 17:36

I've just had my kidney beans but in a meaty chilli. They were just OK but I like them fried in hot oil til they explode and the insides go crispy!

I'm starting to notice an improvement in some symptoms, which is good and proof for me it's working. Smile

ProfYaffle · 11/11/2015 14:11

Oooh, that's interesting Kinky, glad to hear you're feeling better. Keep updating us, I love a LC success story!

Fluffy I love strawberries dipped in chocolate but I leave it to set hard for an hour then eat it.

Fluffybrain · 12/11/2015 01:56

Yes o made some of those too blodss and they were better but I think I still prefer my strawberries with cream and my choc separate.

Good news Kinky.

I had an exciting day today. Went on a flying lesson. It was my first ever flight in my entire life and I flew the plane! Yay me! And I lost another pound this morning.

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 12/11/2015 08:58

Hi all i am back. Madrid was amazing, i did pretty well on the first couple of days - finding anything other than crossiants or bread and jam for breakfast was virtually impossible. However the last couple of days it went down hill. I came home saturday and have only just managed to get back on the wagon today - big sigh.

However i bought a couple of tops and they were large and xlarge and ridiculously i was pleased with this, as Spanish clothes always tend to come up small.

Seems like everyone has had a lot going on.

Letme - hope you picked a nice cake, its a one off. Not long to the wedding, when you are in the same yr as your wedding it will fly by. We had cheese wheels instead of cake - a low carbers perfect wedding cake lol.

Fluffy - you flew the plane? How amazing and very brave. Hope you had a wonderful time. My grandad was a pilot and spoke of flying in the most poetic terms.

Kinky - glad you are seeing an improvement in your health, must be great to find something that is helping.

Prof -my gym are doing kettlebell classes and i have signed up to try, since you rave about it i thought i would give it a bash.

I still havent found my scales which is a good thing. Its 6 weeks until to christmas so i am stepping up my game, dairy is going until xmas and i have made some lovely soup to see me through lunchtimes.

In other news we have signed up for an evil 5k muddy obstacle course - it looks gruelling and its 4.5 months away. So the moment i find my trainers i have to start training in earnest. Hubby is doing the 10k one and i am not allowed on his team as i am not fast enough!!

Blodss · 12/11/2015 12:52

Desperately Glad you had a lovely time and yes, Spanish clothes are teeny tiny! Don't worry about the holiday food as you have to eat and enjoy it. Food is one of life's pleasures and learning mindfulness and moderation is key.

ProfYaffle · 12/11/2015 14:48

I had no idea the Spanish ate croissants for breakfast - every day's a school day! Glad you had a good time though.

I've never done an actual live kettlebell class, I believe the weights they use are heavier than home DVDs. I'd like to try a class but as I live in the sticks there aren't any locally.

These are rather yummy!

Fluffybrain · 12/11/2015 20:21

Anyone got a toned tum? What's the best kind of exercise for tummies?

desperatelyseekingamovingdate · 12/11/2015 21:05

Sorry fluffy def cant help with that one! I have a friend with one and she swears by doing planks - evil but effective. I used to do them but still didnt have a toned tummy!

ProfYaffle · 13/11/2015 07:57

My abs are toned but I have a lovely duvet layer of fat over the top of them so you'd never guess! There are abs sections in the kettlebell dvds I do which are really effective. I've just had a look on Youtube but none of the workouts I do are on there but there are lots of others.
