As the first thread is full, I thought I'd start this one to dip a toe in the water and see if anyone else is still around. At the end of the last thread I think a few of us had decided to have the summer off and come back to it in September - so here I am.

Hope a few of the old gang are still around Smile

Well now this is interesting. Weighed and measured myself today. I seem to have gained a lb however, I measure 1" less, all over, than I did 3 weeks ago. Weird.

Though now it moves into depressing because according to the nhs website, my waist is still 7" over what is healthy! If I lost another 7", I'd be about a size 8 or something, I can't imagine I'll ever get to that size.

I've failed ! Two slices of pizza
Ffs.

ProfYaffle · 06/11/2015 17:46

It's only 2 slices of pizza, get back on the horse, it's a slip not a permanent thing. I tend to treat slips (though mine are usually sauvignon blanc related!) as mini experiments and use ketstix to see if I've been knocked out of ketosis or not.

What should our waist size be?

ProfYaffle · 07/11/2015 07:50

From memory I think it's under 31.5" to be healthy and over 35" means you're about to combust at any moment (or something) Mine is 38" Sad The thing is, I can feel my abs and even if I lost every scrap of fat sitting on top of them, my waist wouldn't be 7" smaller.

KinkyDorito · 07/11/2015 09:48

Even when I was skinny, my waist was 33. I'm doomed.

ProfYaffle · 07/11/2015 10:25

You and me both!

Interestingly, this morning I'm 2lbs lighter than I was yesterday Confused See what I mean about weight fluctuation Kinky? I had a steady trajectory down too but now I seem to be stabilising I get these fluctuations where I can vary by as much as 3lbs overnight.

Can't find tape measure. Scales are static.
Anyone got any good meals planned for the weekend ? I'm thinking of cauliflower rice and need something to go with it.
Also I suppose I should do some exercise I have a lot of wobbly to tone

KinkyDorito · 07/11/2015 12:10

Thanks Prof. I'm a good couple of stone off an ideal weight yet - BMI 24ish - so hoping it will pick up again soon. Saying that, am back to what I was earlier in the week. Think I might do some more IF this week as that seems to boost it. I am nervous about getting enough calories though as I think I'm a bit skimpy on some days. If things are going well, I should have another drop down in a week or so. I seem to settle at a weight and then drop a bit suddenly. This week was the first time I've gained though.

Weight loss will not be helped by going to parents for belated fireworks/pie and pea supper tonight though. Also known as an annual food-fest designed to get your stomach in gear for the festive season, also at parents, also with MEGA food. I plan to take a sweet potato with me and hope for the best Grin.

I'm liking stew at the minute now that I'm carnivore again. Beef stew in slow cooker is lush pnutter. I do add a cheeky stock cube as there's limits to how inventively paleo I can be, but it is very, very nice:

500g beef cubes (stewing steak, braising steak)
Onion
3 sticks celery
Carrots
Parsnips
A swede
2 stock cubes

Brown meat in pan, then cook onions in leftover juices.

Chuck that, all peeled and chopped veg, stock cubes and generous water to cover into slow cooker on low for 7-8 hours. Yum.

It can be thickened. Family have it over Yorkshire puds. Those not avoiding grains can put pearl barley in it too.

KinkyDorito · 07/11/2015 12:10

I mean I'm aiming for BMI 24ish, not that I am now! I'm more 27ish Grin. My waist measurement is heart attack on legs.

ProfYaffle · 07/11/2015 14:41

I'm similar, I'm around 27 now. According to the charts I need to lose 1.5 stone to get under 25 but I can't see me getting down that low. I think another stone max is more realistic. I hope I'm not deluding myself but now I'm kettlebell fit I'm quite muscular so that's making me heavy for my size iyswim.

I just measured waist. I'm 35 inches so I'm about to combust too. Dear dear!

Blodss · 07/11/2015 19:35

Bollocks to that!! Women today have waist sizes 30 inches and above. Even Princess Diana who was slim had a 35 inch waist as she was an apple shape. It also depends upon your height. So your waist should be half your height in inches. Im 5ft 8 and which is 68 inches and my best waist size would be half that which is 34. Im waist size 32 though.
I need to lose a stone and a half. I am hourglass shape . If you are an apple shaped then you will generally have a bigger waist size.

Blodss · 07/11/2015 20:05

Had a small bowl of tomato and basil soup (homemade) then a side plate of lettace, olives, coriander, parsley and cucumber with some roast beef. Felt like a cereal just now so blitzed almonds, brazils, walnuts and pecans, coconut and mixed seeds and then added some ground linseeds. Added a small amount of greek honey and coconut and almond milk. Was yummy. Similar to porridge/muesli.

pnutter · 07/11/2015 20:11

Agree blodss. Bloody 21" waists are unachievable!!
I'm 5'5 and stuck at 10 stone used to be 8 stone but never had a tiny waist

Blodss · 07/11/2015 20:57

Are you an apple shape then pnutter?

KinkyDorito · 07/11/2015 21:58

I am as apple as you can get - I'm a football with skinny arms and legs!

Cereal sounds lovely blodss.

Well, I have been successfulish negotiating my way through bonfire food. 2 jacket potatoes, the inside of meat and potato pie and some mushy peas. A bit silly on carbs, but avoided hotdogs, parkin and pastry so much better than it could have been!

Blodss · 07/11/2015 22:24

Sounds good Kinky.

I was very happy this morning. I weighed myself and have now moved into a lower stone zone. Yay!!

pnutter · 08/11/2015 04:11

Yes I think I'm apple shaped ! Just found tape measure : 30"

pnutter · 08/11/2015 04:12

But weighed 63 not 64 whoop whoop

ProfYaffle · 08/11/2015 09:29

That's interesting re Diana Blodss I feel a bit better now! I'm a weird apple/hourglass hybrid. I've got an hourglass shape with a defined waist, have always carried my weight on my tummy but have slim limbs. ('spud on matchsticks' as I always say)

Can one have a fat head though? That is the question. Got my winter hat out for the first time yesterday. Last year the band gave me a headache as it gripped my head. Last night it slipped down over my eyes and rested itself roomily on top of my ears. I don't remember, even at my fattest, ever having a big, puffy head Confused

ProfYaffle · 08/11/2015 09:29

Meant to add - congratulations pnutter! (I assume that's kilos, not ounces or something?!)

OP posts:
Blodss · 08/11/2015 21:26

Well done pnutter. As I mentioned above, I have now moved down into 12 stone 13 so broke through to a lower stone. I started at 14.7 this time last year so am feeling good about it. Im 5ft 8 3/4 and now a size 14.
Hows everyone else doing.

pnutter · 08/11/2015 23:29

Wow blodss that's good going
Tonight the bastard scales say back to 64kg
