I am starting this thread to take up from the 10 stone one. That thread has given me a lot of strength and hope and I would like to continue that dialogue but thought it might need freshening up. Champs speak to me! Hows it going and how many new food types can you alert me to?
Any more takers for the long haul speak now!

arrrrrgggg ds2 pressed something and msg has gone!!!!!

thanx for all the kind words, tooth was one that had a filling in it so maybe it needed a crown. dentist is gonna tell me off

jnb- dont mean to sound all moderatorish but..... trying to loose weight while pg is not advised altho aiming not to gain too much is ok. and you'll find that if you aim to continue eating healthily you will be just fine. as you are planning to see dietician you will get good advice. -- right (hangs moderator hat up) I remember i was sooo worried that i would put on too much and every time I had an appointment I was soooo unhappy to see the numbers going up and not down, but I had to remember the baby inside me was growing and all thae water and increased blood was showing up on scales. It didn't take me long to loose my baby weight (it's MY weight that is taking so long)

bran--- you are hearby banished from open windows!! we lb's need your strong will!!

moniker--- i have the same prob, my eyes are too enticed by naughty treats.

glitter-- you can laugh cos you are not in the least bit blob like!! does that mean i have to wear red and yellow now?! how's the fam? are you little uns back at sch?? ds1 goes back next week.

hiya beety!! thanx, how are you? evertime i see a detox book i think of you. i have now decided to cut added margerine/butter from my diet

bran · 02/09/2004 14:08

Hello everyone - Beetroot have you seen what Glitterfairy has said about her trip to Dublin, I hope you're having words with her.

Glitter - Thai isn't too bad, don't have anything with coconut milk in it. Otherwise Pad Thai is quite low calorie (and one of my favourites), and there are usually a few stir-fried things which are good so long as they don't come with a sweet sauce. I don't know much about cajun, but I would have thought that something like Jambalaya would be ok (isn't it just rice and tomatoes and bits of meat?), or anything that is dry-baked without a sauce, share the banoffie pie with someone else. For your breakfast, have toast instead of fried bread, have your egg poached or scrambled, take the fat off your bacon, only have a small amount of black pudding (mmmmm black pudding), and just 1 (or maybe 2) sausages. Turn down the fried potato. Beety will be using her spy equipment to keep an eye on you.

I had a weigh-in last night and I lost 2.5 lbs , at the current rate it will take me 48 more weeks to reach my goal.

Well done Bran - that's really good going! My RC lady is on hols this week so I have slacked a bit so need to re-focuss!

Glitter - the Great Manc Run is 10k or 6.2 miles however you want to look at it!! That's about half the length of the Great North Run! (21k or 13ish miles!)

Champs - hope you get your tooth sorted, ame thing happended to me on a Thornton's Chocolate eclair toffee and I don't even like them that much which was even more annoyting!!

jnbsmum - hope you are keeping well!

Beety - hello!

HAve a good day eveyone, keep your hands off those choccs and cakes etc!!

champs · 02/09/2004 16:14

oooo bran you grasss

moniker--- am trying to work up the courage to go to dentist!!

bran · 02/09/2004 17:16

Somebody tell me to do something about my tummy. I read a horrible link from ww here about someone's abdominoplasty and I don't want to be in that situation. My tummy has been a bit saggy for a while, and obviously that's only going to get worse if I lose weight. What's the best thing to do?

I'm really freaked out about it and it's not even my low time of the afternoon, so this must be a proper freak-out, not just a low blood-sugar freak-out.

champs · 03/09/2004 02:16

bran i just read that journal!! It was very informative. I am really worried too, after watching fat farm. Anyone got any ideas. I really dont want to have to have surgery. I have invested in a contour wrap home kit and will be using it along side my diet. And excersise too.

glitterfairy · 03/09/2004 09:09

Girls get to the gym!

Champs the moderator - I did ww and they monitored me really carefully they would not let me diet in the first twelve weeks and they set me menus and goals. I drank and ate more than I have ever done including two pints of milk a day going up to three. All through the pregnancy they had different things for different weeks and my gynae consultant also helped and was amazed at how different I became. I was healthier than I have ever been after the birth and felt bloody marvelous honest.

Champs (other) glad the tooth is being sorted. The family are great and yes back at shcool hurrah. Just having childcare problems and cant find an au pair! If anyone knows of a spare one send them my way.

Moniker I will consult with my trainer buddy and see if she thinks I could do it. It would give me a nearer goal than the great north next year and keep me on track for victory.

Bran good advice you big tell tale! I am just nervous but will try hard and also worried about lack of exercise. Am going to ring the hotel and see if there are any gyms or pools nearby. I am also doing a shift on the wards there so that will be exercise! Lifting old men about all day.

OP posts:
champs · 04/09/2004 14:43

lol glitter!!
Hope your childcare prob sorts out soon.

have to wait till tues for tooth to get sorted, will need a crown, so that will take a while to come back, but now the stupid filling has dropped out!!!! how is the rest of the tooth gonna hold up without it!!! Pain is gonna start soon as now there is a hole!!

glitterfairy · 04/09/2004 16:03

Ouch Champs I hate toothache!

Moniker yes I would like to do the Manchester run how do I start to put my name down?

Am getting very excited at the thought now.

Bran how are you doing?

OP posts:
bran · 04/09/2004 16:28

Hello everyone, I hope you're all keeping well. We are having people to dinner tonight, they will be having a WW-friendly dinner tonight and they won't suspect a thing . See my sorbet recipe on the food processor thread - it's only 1.5 points. The cheese course is a bit of a problem, I can't really see any way around it so I will just have 1 cracker with cheese and eat it very slowly.

I must go and chop stuff now for the starter, so that dh can get started on the main course at 5pm. While he's doing that I can get in some exercise before my shower, so that I'll have a few extra points to play with. (I hate being organised , I'm naturally a couch potato)

glitterfairy · 04/09/2004 16:37

Very impressive Bran! I hate dinner parties as I love cooking and get quite upset at having to change ingredients and think of slimming meals.

OP posts:
glitterfairy · 04/09/2004 16:38

Sorry meant I hate dieting dinner parties I actually love having dinner parties but fattening ones only with cheese and chocies.

OP posts:
bran · 04/09/2004 17:52

AAAAGGGHHHH! So much for being organised - dh wanted me off the computer - so I went to chop. I told him the computer was free, but he said that actually what he wanted was for me to have finished chopping so he could have the kitchen, even though I specifically asked him earlier what time he would need the kitchen from and he said 5pm.

Then he discovered he needed tomatoes, he hadn't put them on the list because he didn't think he would forget them , and he sent me to hell (aka Asda) to get some more, because it's about 5 minutes closer than Waitrose. (Asda is where all the local mums go when they feel their kids need a really good yelling at.)

I got back, with tomatoes, and he took one look at the 6 tomatoes, and said actually he needs 9 tomatoes .

So now, no time to exercise (does beating up your dh get the same exercise points as boxercise?), it's straight into the shower.

ROFL!!! hope it all came together ok in the end bran.

I am so excited as holidy diet starts Monday. This is the first time i am so excited about limiting my food have kept to my word and no added margerine has ben eaten, pitta bread isn't at all bad without it.

so now i need some advice.... i am in two minds whether to do SW or WW or to just do my own thing. I feel i need some sort of plan so now have to decide which one. SW means i dont have to plan, just eat unlimited foods, the only thing is that i dont want to live my life forever having red or green days. WW means i can eat most things but have to count points, sounds better in long run but all the faffing with points and remembering how much in what.... WW online still doesn't work!!. I could however just do ww offline I will not be going to the meetings but will be following the plan at home....... any ideas?

glitterfairy · 05/09/2004 08:26

SOunds like you are doing it yourself anyway Champs with ww if you are not going to meetings and following your own pattern. I am doing my own thing and following Beetys plan but it is pretty strict (although have the odd treat at weekends).

I think goals are pretty important as without them you get into a drifting oh that can wait mentality. I think the reason ww works is because of the weekly weigh ins and not wanting to be shown up and to be praised. Cant believe in red or green days really sorry. I thikn it is what works for you. I have said it before but a really good book on making your own diet whihc inspired me was Ed Victor The Obvious Diet. What he says is that we all know what to eat and what not to to make ourselves happy and thin. He says do diaries and make lists and that has helped shape my eating over the last few years.

Even though I am still fat I no longer binge which is a start and I am far more in control of what I do. It is just a long process to re educate myself but I am slowly inching my way there.

Right after that inspiring speech am off to the gym! See you all later. Bran hope the dinner party went well. You are a star!

glitter thanx for the wonderful advice

i am so excited!!! tomorow is only a day away

glitterfairy · 05/09/2004 21:56

Boo hoo didnt get to the gym and was so good when we all went out I had salad whilst everyone had pig out food. THen have come home to more salad instead of treat as family were not hungry and now have had a kitkat! help!

Champs tell me that tomorrow is another day please!

OP posts:
bran · 05/09/2004 23:04

A Kitkat is not the end of the world Glitter(we are talking just one, not a family pack, aren't we?) Just do an extra 15-20 mins in the gym tomorrow, I don't know how you just stopped at one, if I had chocolate I wouldn't be able to stop until East London had been completely de-chocolated.

I have been weak, I went 8 points over yesterday . I was the cheese I'm afraid, but I really, really enjoyed it so I'm not feeling too guilty. I had some Carrickbyrne (Irish cheese like Camenbert) at the peak of its ripeness, and some goat's cheddar which was nicely tangy. I did have 6.5 points saved from earlier in the week, but I still need to make up some ground.

I could have exercised after all yesterday, both couples were over an hour late . One couple claimed they got lost, they said they had accidently been through the Blackwall Tunnel and back, which is easy enough to do, I've almost done it myself once, EXCEPT that it's closed southbound on Saturday and Sunday nights for maintenance . Still, everybody was fab company when they eventually arrived so I forgive them.

Champs, if you still can't get onto WW online, have you tried WW e-source? You're supposed to be attending meetings to use it, but I can give you a false identity from my meeting if you want. (Is that a criminal offence in the same league as forging a passport ?) I'll see if they still have the forms for a 2 week free trial when I go on Wednesday.
