I am starting this thread to take up from the 10 stone one. That thread has given me a lot of strength and hope and I would like to continue that dialogue but thought it might need freshening up. Champs speak to me! Hows it going and how many new food types can you alert me to?
Any more takers for the long haul speak now!

yes Bran thats me too! I get quite ratty when deprived of my fix. Papillon brought me a bag of chocolates from Switzerland and I have stashed them for the occasional hit! Beety didnt confiscate them. lol.

I am rubbish with authority figures but respect beets enough to abide by her rules plus she has known me a long long time and knows all my secrets

Champs darling how are you? Moniker how does your garden grow?

Ps am hoping there are no pictures of me on the trampoline (thank god it was dark )

lol!!

moniker · 25/08/2004 15:36

Hi everyone, hope you're all OK! My gardens not growing just yet - well it is, but only brambles and weeds!! It all needs clearing before we can plant anything of our own so we will be doing that over the next few months as hopefully things will die a bit of their own accord! Will be good exercise though all that digging!

I bought some Climalite exercise leggings last week so hope will have lost at least 1lb at RC tonight as they are much lighter than my tracky bottoms!! DS2 was 3 last week and far too much cake was eaten! Far far far too much!! So actaully might not have lost 1lb of tracksuit after all!

Bran - I find if I eat carbs in the afternoon I feel absolutely awful, and really tired even though it seems to be what I fancy! I know what you mean about needing something though - I go for fruit too if I can but it never quite satisfies does it! I do have a milky decaff as well and that helps - low cal chocolate might be worth a go?? I really do like that feeling you mentioned though that you get after that third slice of cake!! There's nothing like it is there and I can't find a healthy low cal alternative either I'm afraid!!

glitterfairy · 25/08/2004 22:57

Only the third slice Moniker? I need at least five to get that feeling but hey being a cake junkey I need more to get my fix these days.

Am being so good at the moment its repulsive. Have friend to stay that I havent seen in two years and we went to the gym together tonight. Also have not drunk (only one glass to celebrate her arrival) and she has eaten chocolate in front of me and I didnt grab the bar and shout its all mine. Beets will die of pride if I keep this going.

Thanks for all your suggestions about my afternoon low. I've found that I only get it on my work days and not at the week-end/non-work day. I'm not sure whether it's because I tend to graze a bit more on my days off, so my food intake is spread more evenly or whether it's because I tend to be doing something interesting in the afternoons which distracts me from the low. I have found that picking an argument with someone helps a lot , they're starting to steer clear of me at work so I may be getting a bit shouty on Mumsnet soon, just shout back at me, it's what I need.

Shame on you Moniker for suggesting low-calorie chocolate - I'll have you know that I'm a chocolate snob and would rather have no chocolate at all than bad chocolate. You're just lucky that I didn't read your post mid-afternoon or you'd be in real trouble .

The good news is that I lost 2 pounds this week, bringing my total to 5 pounds in 3 weeks, so that's 56 more weeks to my target weight (isn't that an incredibly long time?). I'll concentrate on this coming week, and then I'll worry about the other 55 weeks at the end of that.

How's the detox going Glitterfairy?

glitterfairy · 25/08/2004 22:59

Acutally she is being scarily like her and am afriad that beety has captured all my friends and made them take her side!!!!!!!

OP posts:
bran · 25/08/2004 23:00

Ooops, posts crossed, I see you're doing well Glitterfairy - keep it up (I expect Beetroot has some MI5 spy type equipment that allows her to check up on you ).

Bran - I do apologise!!! I meant low cal HOT chocolate!! Not bars - that would be sacreligeous !! Well done with losing 2lbs though - that's great! I lost 1lb at RC last night but am sure it was tracksuit not fat!!

champs · 26/08/2004 15:23

hi all!! have been ok this week, dont want to kno exactly how ok as i am now filling divorce with my scales. we have actually been in the same house and not tlked!! I need some serious whipping glitter, I need to get back on track.

bran · 26/08/2004 15:51

You talk to your scales champs? Does it talk back? I just bought new scales about 6 weeks ago, they don't talk but they do beep. They also remember what your last weight was, which I thought was a great idea until I realised that dh can now see how much I weigh just by pressing my button on the scales .

glitterfairy · 26/08/2004 22:38

rofl Bran My dh will know my weight the day he measures me for my coffin and not a moment before.

Champs what are you up to and didnt understand the divorce stuff???? Why do you need whipping what have you been up to? Come on now and confess.

Moniker how are you?

I am well went to the gym today and made brown rice and prawns for tea. My poor friend wants Beets detox book. Am so good it is a joke!

Can hear Champs muttering (Iknow you love me really champs only joking) But accepted a challenge to start running in marathons today and am posting this so you all know I MEAN IT

OP posts:
bran · 26/08/2004 22:53

Well done on the 1 pound loss Moniker. What is RC? All I can think of is Roman Catholic, they must be getting desperate to retain their congregation if they're turning to slimming clubs . It could work though, after all the church is supposed to be there for the whole community, and dieters are part of the community.

Marathons, Glitterfairy I am dead impressed! Of course I will be a great deal more impressed the day I see you doing it . The London marathon goes right past where I live so perhaps next year I will be cheering you on .

champs · 27/08/2004 14:14

well done with all the weightlosses!!!
bran-- my scales used to talk,"well done" they'd say, then "oh dear" soon they started tauntin "who ate all the pies" then they started lying ans told me i had put on weight.... i then banished them under my sofa and have stopped speaking. rc= rosmary conelly{sp}
glitter- pls disregard my unfunny joke, i am in such a weird mood (as usual i have been scoffing my face glitter..... WWHHYYYYYY!!!!
btw... i have to take your bloaters membership away right now, you are far too active and virtuous but above all, i was lurkin in the summer party thread and saw your lovely pic, you are far to lovely and not at all bloater like... SO THERE!!!!..... love the hair colour!!
(and you better not slip up or beety will hold me responsible in undoing her hard work)

moniker · 27/08/2004 14:44

HI everyone - the RC question really made me laugh Bran!! Thank you - and I see that Champs has enlightened you!!

Glitter - how about the Great Manchester Run then!? THat'll be a cinch compared to a marathon - it's ONLY 10K!! I'm doing it with a group of friends/colleagues hence the running training!

No pigging out this weekend now! Have a good bank hol everyone,
Mon xx

bran · 27/08/2004 16:37

You will NEVER guess what I just did. I turned down a chocolate torte, it took all my will-power. and and of the person who got to eat it.

Applause please!

glitterfairy · 27/08/2004 20:46

Bran you are a star ** ! Clap clap clap! I am doing the great north run next November to get in a year of training so not the London but maybe someday..... If I ever do it you can chuck me a chocolate as I storm past panting.

Champs darling thank you. My hair is now pinky red in honour of the beet and she has suggested that I call myself Beatroot! Plus I am an honorary life member of the bloaters and I wont let you chuck me out!

Moniker stay away from RC told you she looks awful and too thin in real life. When is this run?

jnbsmum · 27/08/2004 21:27

Hi everyone. thought i'd drop in and say hello after talking with glitterfairy and bran earlier. I've decided that nows a good time to lose 7 stone. my dh has just stopped smoking so i guess we can help each other along.
I'm definatly in for the long one and it's gonna be hard. like some of you other guys though i'm looking foward to buying the size 12s or walking into normal shops

glitterfairy · 27/08/2004 21:29

Hiya and welcome to the madhouse which we inhabit! Many of us here have over that to lose but are still cheering each other on wildly. Am being good at the moment but will post as soon as I feel like eating my weight in chocolate!

OP posts:
bran · 27/08/2004 21:31

Hellooooooooooo and welcome jnbsmum. I have 7 stone to lose too (5 down, 6 stone 9lb to go).

How have you decided to start? I warn you that I'm still a little over-enthusiastic as I'm only 3 weeks in, and I'm annoyingly pious, but my fall is coming soon, I can feel it. There will be a price to pay for refusing chocolate .

jnbsmum · 27/08/2004 21:38

I think the reason ive decided is i've got to have an op soon and i'm paranoid about being in theatre and it going wrong. Also I dont want to be the fat mum and my kids be embarresed about me. Its part in my head but i'm doing it for me really

glitterfairy · 27/08/2004 21:39

Best reason of all is yourself. THe kids will cope my kids get upset if I lose too much as they complain I am not as cuddly. I cant win it seems!

OP posts:
bran · 27/08/2004 21:49

Love yourself as you are jnbsmum, otherwise when you diet you might feel it's a punishment and then it'll be much more difficult to stick to. Think of dieting as loving yourself more, giving yourself healthy food the way that you would for your kids and others that you love, and exercise for fun rather than to the point of pain.

(I warned you that I was smug - you can slap me if you want )
