I am starting this thread to take up from the 10 stone one. That thread has given me a lot of strength and hope and I would like to continue that dialogue but thought it might need freshening up. Champs speak to me! Hows it going and how many new food types can you alert me to?
Any more takers for the long haul speak now!

Its ok bran i get you.
Ive got to say over the last week i've been thinking about how happy i will feel when Ive lost the weight. I've also noticed i've been taking more care about what i'm feeding myself and my children. Like what you said earlier about not picking off the kids plates (i'm guilty of that one), Ive tried to stop myself and put it in the bin. As for the food diary Ill start that one asap.

champs · 28/08/2004 00:46

Hi Jnbsmum!! welcome. as glitter kindly pointed out some of us (me for one) have much more to loose than you. We all help each other her and as bran said, whips are involved. We all have highs and lows and i do get alot of support from the others. as for kids tea i watched program or read somewhere where woman used to put washig liquid on plate to stop here eating leftovers as she once went into bin to eat
something.

bran-- no choc torte!! wd!!! and i like your smugness keeps me motivated.

glitter--- you are turnin into beet!! now the name too!! i take ur advice and will hav a good w/e

glitterfairy · 29/08/2004 07:51

Nope champs it was my overactive finger doing exercise! I clicked twice without realising.

How are you darling? relaxing and enjoying the bank hols? I am working tomorrow groan .

OP posts:
bran · 29/08/2004 10:56

How many WW exercise points do you get for clicking twice Glitter?

Champs, what on earth are you on about. It sounds as though your planning to get a (ahem) marital aid cast from your dh's bits.

glitterfairy · 29/08/2004 14:54

Exactly Bran is she losing it or what?

WW points for exercise? Wow how much is an hour at the gym and how much can I eat as a consequence?

OP posts:
bran · 29/08/2004 17:49

I think it depends what you're doing Glitter, cycling and rowing machine are 3 points for 30 mins, running (at jogging speed) is 4 points for 30 mins and walking is 2 points for 30 mins. I couldn't find the points for weight training. And you may eat whatever you like my dear (so long as it's wholemeal, unrefined, sugar-free and fat-free ).

I'm still mouring the loss of that chocolate torte by the way - it was very gooey . I made my wholemeal oatmeal yogurt blueberry muffins to cheer myself up and I tried it with half sugar and half Splenda, but there was a really nasty aftertaste from the Splenda so I threw them out . It only saved me half a point anyway.

glitterfairy · 29/08/2004 19:09

They still sound good Bran. I do half an hour on the cross trainer and then some fast walking and cycling and rowing (not all but another 15mins) So loads of extra calories on the days I train! Yippee.

Am eating more or less what I like within limits. Tiny bit of chicken once or twice a week but otherwise fish only. No dairy, no wheat (OOps had half a bagel today) no salt, no coffee tea alcohol once or twice a week. Apart from all that pigging out on raisins and fruit and carrots. My bil came to lunch today (hence the bagel) and said is there a rabbit in the house? HA HA.

OP posts:
bran · 29/08/2004 19:56

That's excellent Glitterfairy - do you do that everyday? I have been doing an hour's walk with my friend (also doing WW) 3 times a week. And yesterday I went down the gym with my dh, it was a bit too warm for me in the gym though so I didn't end up doing very much - 30 mins fast walk and 15 mins on the cross trainer. I can't get the rhythm of the step-thingy at all, which is a pity. I might row a bit next time, at least you do that sitting down .

I really, really should be doing sit-ups, as the weight that I am losing seems to be coming off the parts of me that are already reasonably thin, like my legs and hips, but staying firmly put on my tummy.

Is everyone else losing their weight evenly, or are you working on particular bits?

champs · 30/08/2004 00:48

i have ordered a detoxing, inch reducing (all singing and dancing)wrap.... hopefully the inchloss will give me a good kick up the....

bran and gltitter- lol, wat i meant to say was dh had given me £200 to spend on myself, later on he started to get rather touchy feely, when i friendly batted his hand away he said he'd given me money and couldn't even get a rub

champs · 30/08/2004 00:50

likeness was my way of saying in kind bran, you made me splutter my tuna salad with the cast!!! pmsl

bran · 30/08/2004 11:36

lol Champs - you ought to be clearer in what you say - this is how rumours get started .

glitterfairy · 30/08/2004 12:21

Absolutely although you should have said "honey you think £200 will buy you a rub nope nothing more than a kiss!"

Not every day Bran but three times a week. I am in training you know. have refused chocolate, bread and all sorts this week and am feeling the model of virtue. However I know that at six weeks I will start to eat!

OP posts:
champs · 30/08/2004 14:42

lol!!
bran---- u r rite of course rumours and fights
glitter--- you will do much better than you think, you also do!! A kiss is not enuff for the likes of my frisky dh (hope he doesn't read this)

bran · 31/08/2004 11:10

This is the last time that I'm going to tell you that I've turned food down, because it's going to get boring, I'm just always proud of myself because once it's hovering under my nose I find it almost impossible to refuse. Anyway, today it was clotted cream shortbread.

Why will you start eating at 6 weeks Glitter? Is that the limit of your will power? Let us know when you get to 5 weeks and we can all yell at you for a week, that might help . Plus, I like yelling at the moment, it's the second most fun thing to do after eating.

glitterfairy · 31/08/2004 11:29

Bran your whole life will be turning food down from now on as that is long term slimming for you .

Champs lol.Anyway burns off the calories!

Have just realised that week six is in Dublin OH MY GOD! I will have to turn down drinks in clubs and bars as well as food and I will be at my critical low point! Help! Shout away Bran.

OP posts:
bran · 31/08/2004 21:12

Glitter, if I really believed that I'd be turning food down for the rest of my life, I'd throw myself out the window now. I plan to be one of those effortlessly slim women, you know the ones that you meet at dinner parties who have seconds of every course and thirds of dessert. (Of course all the other jealous women there won't know that I only do that once every month or so, and I'll workout like mad the day before and the day after [evil ])

When in Dublin have salmon based dishes (smoked, grilled etc) with boiled potatoes and no sauce, mmmmm. And do a bit of yomping in the mountains, my parents live half-way up a mountain in South Dublin and with all the dog walking I used to do I had a great figure when I was a teenager.

jnbsmum · 01/09/2004 10:24

Looks like my diets gone out of the window. 2 posotive tests tell me i' pg and i'm gonna get big

bran · 01/09/2004 10:39

Congratulations jnbsmum, that's fantastic news.

You don't have to put on lots of weight just because you're pregnant though. You can still cut out sugar and eat loads of fruit and veg, and take gentle exercise (walking etc). You needn't think you can escape from this thread with just the excuse of being pregnant, we'll still be watching you .

Even if you do put on weight, you can always come back, because even my best case scenario for weight loss means that I will still be losing in 9 months time.

champs · 01/09/2004 15:11

congrats jnbsmum!!!!!, will you change your name to jbn?mum when baba is here?

I have had a very serious wake up call.... I was at work and about to express so i went to get a snack from the machine, naughty me decided to try a muffin, even tho choc is off agender.... so eating it, I notice the chunks are very hard because it was in the cooled machine which is temp of a fridge, but carry on any way remember one chunk being crunchy... anyway after I ate it I noticed MY TOOTH WAS BROKEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feel sooooo as my teeth are soooo bad but it serves me right, number 1 my dentist already warned me about sweets .. eg NO SWEETS. and number 2 I am a BLOB and shouldn't even be eating stuff like that.

Oh well..... have started again properly now.

bran · 01/09/2004 15:56

Don't feel bad Champs - I once broke a tooth on a bowl of cornflakes. My dad was very unimpressed as he is my dentist . Hopefully the dental work to fix it won't be too painful.

I just had an unplanned visit to Ikea and I had their meatballs for lunch, which I love. Now I have no idea what the points would be for the gravy that the serve with the meatballs. I am definately getting obsessive - I've started to think that all resaurants should give ww points for their dishes. When I start saying it out loud it will be time to lock me away.

moniker · 01/09/2004 16:06

Hi everyone and congrats to jbnsmum! You can aim to not put on any wieght when you are pregnant quite safely I think and then you will be lighter when you give birth. You could ask to see a dietician - not saying you should BTW!! just that it can be done if you want!

Glitter - the Manc Run is in May so would warm you up nicely for the Great North Run! I am going to the GNR this year - working not running thought but maybe next year I'll join you??!!

I wish I could say 'no' like you can Bran - that's my problem - if it's there I eat it - and Champs, I remember giving the tip about the washing up liquid and still use it but am sure I'm not the only one!! I find it SO hard not to eat if the food is there. Exercise is definatley making it easier as I can have a little bit more to eat on those days although if I didn't I would lose weight quicker I suppose! I do like food though, especially the fattening stodgy chocolatly buttery stuff!!

I'm aiming for a size 12 too - wont it be lovely when we all get there! Mon xxx
