5' 6" and what weight and dress size?

fanciesdefrancais · 21/07/2015 18:26

So, I could probably be described as having a touch of body dysmorphia but I am quite surprised by my dress size considering my weight and appearance.

Nosey nosey, I know, but I'm supercurious what size other people are compared to their weight if you're happy to share...

That’s not correct. You need to burn fat to build muscle, so having no fat would mean no muscle to be built 😂 you can have muscle under your fat.

5ft5. Weigh between 9st and 9st 2, size 12, but 10 on top and sometimes in dresses. Was 9st11 in January that put me at a big 12. Like to think I am heading in the direction of size 10, but have a few pounds more to go. I’m another one who’s face doesn’t suit slim beyond a certain point

I'm just a fraction under 5' 7", 8st 10lbs (at present; it'll drop as competition season approaches) and:

8 (bottom)/10 (top) — designer type stuff
6 (bottom)/8 top — high street

*I'm very dense - lots of muscle under the flab*

I'm afraid that is unlikely. You have to get rid of the fat before your body starts building muscle. It is all but impossible to have muscle hidden away under fat.

Sorry, not being rude, but that is utter nonsense. You can be fat and muscular simultaneously. In fact, if you're larger and even remotely active, your body will build muscle to support your frame (it's natural resistance training), otherwise, you wouldn't be able to move effectively. Next time you see a larger person walking around, check out their calf muscles.

I am mystified too Dowser. I am 175cm (5'9") and 70Kg (11 stones) and I take a 14/16.

Sorry to pick on you as my example wannabeasize8again but you are the same weight and 4 inches shorter than me but 1 to 2 dress sizes smaller. Dress sizing just makes no sense at all to me!

13st 11ilb. Size 14-16 usually. I've come down from 15.3 this year and need to lose a couple more. My fighting weight is around 11 stone, but I'm 60 next week and I'm not sure I'll ever be that slim again.

Happy to jump on this zombie thread.
I'm 8st 5 and size 8 (6 in vanity sizing). 5'6 exactly.
I was nearly 2 stone heavier just after Christmas and a size 12. Lost weight through myfitness pal and upping my running.

I'm 66kg and size 8.

I work out 5 x a week so my muscle mass probably makes me quite heavy for my dress size

5ft 6 and usually weigh about 10/3, which is a 10/12. I'm currently sitting about 10/8 after a year of WFH, and really need to get my act together to shift it.

5 foot 6.5 currently 11 stone and a dress size 10-12 depending on fit and shop. when I get down to 10stone or lower I'm a 10 max. But I'm way too fat for my frame; I just have narrow shoulders etc

I was fat and fat, I am now fat and muscley. Of course you can be muscular & fat...you can feel the difference.

Muscles do get fatter as you age, if you don't train or work them. They actively get downgraded but it's not right to say you can't be both.

@IvanOsokin think you might be my body twin, but I'm half an inch shorter and about the same weight. I can wear size dresses sometimes and tops, but in trousers and skirts I need a 12.

@Enjoyingthepeace I respectfully disagree. I've always weighed a lot more than I look. I was a very skinny teenager and a new GP was unsure about giving me my repeat prescription for the pill as she thought I looked too underweight, stood on the scales and she was shocked how much I actually weighed ( I had no flab back then). When I started PT sessions at the gym they measured my muscle and fat on the machine and said I already had a very high percentage of body muscle before I even started sessions! Everyone is built differently.

@Dowser

I can't get my head around the different weights and dress sizes when people are the same height.

I'm 10-9 height 5'6 and a size 14

With jersey dresses and vanity sizing I can get into a 12 sometimes a 10 but in a structured dress sometimes a 16 isn't big enough and have to get an 18 and take it in.

I don't have skinny legs either.

My 5' 10 cousin weighs2 lbs less than me and is a size 10

I'm completely mystified.

Absolutely - snap!

I'm 12 stone and size 16 Confused
