5' 6" and what weight and dress size?

So, I could probably be described as having a touch of body dysmorphia but I am quite surprised by my dress size considering my weight and appearance.

Nosey nosey, I know, but I'm supercurious what size other people are compared to their weight if you're happy to share...

... A three year old still counts as a baby, right? Wink

PacificDogwood · 21/07/2015 20:43

Yes, Katy, of course. My DS4 is 5 and my flab is all baby weight. Natch.

Pooka · 21/07/2015 20:45

High five to boysrule!

I've also recently lost a little under a stone and barring swimmer shoulders, haven't gone above a 12.

I think my optimum weight is 9 stone 7 or a little less. I look ok now, but haven't toned enough - was going to gym loads but have started work again so no time now.

The lightest I've been was 8 stone 9. I looked horrendous - incredibly gaunt and shallow collarboned. Was a combo of running/training and a hideous bug. Size 6/8. Not a good look on me - I have a largish frame (bony wrists, long feet).

Boglin · 21/07/2015 20:45

14st 10 and a size 16. Carrying a lot of weight on my boobs and stomach (6 months postnatal), hoping to shift a couple of stone over the next few months.

happybubblebrain · 21/07/2015 20:47

I am now size 12 and around 11 stone.
At 10 stone I was a size 10.
At 9 stone I was a size 8.
At 8 stone I was a size 6.

I am quite muscular but now I have a belly. I've never been more than a size 12.

8st and size 8/10

I used to be 11st and size 12

fanciesdefrancais · 21/07/2015 21:12

So grateful to all you beautiful ladies of different shapes and sizes.

I reckon that I probably am about right weight/size-ish.

I tend to come out:

12 st + about size 14

10.5 - 11.5 st about size 12

9.75st - 10.5 st about size 10, with the odd 8

8.75 st to 9.75st a size 8 (with a bit of comfort/room) and the occasional 6.

I've got oddly narrow hips though, which might explain it (and probably explained why my bump was SO enormous each time I was pg!).

Really helped thanks all (and to any pp that join the party) Grin Grin

I'm a 14-16 (nearer a 14 unless it's a structured dress or top - boobs!) and weigh 13 stone 12. DS is almost 4 months and the weigh is coming off.

OP, I concur with your estimates above more or less. If I drop below 12 stone I'm in a 12, below 11 and I'm nearer a 10 and below 10 I'm in an 8.

satsumasunrise · 21/07/2015 21:41

9st 12lb and a size 14.

It does not make sense to me, particularly as dress sizes are supposed to be more generous these days.

SilasGreenback · 21/07/2015 21:54

I'm currently 15st and a 20. I was 16st 7 a couple of months ago and a 22. When I get back to 10st - 10st 7lb I will be a 14 again (i hope). I'm amazed some of you can be an 10/8 at 10st.

SouthernBelle1980 · 21/07/2015 22:00

5 foot 7
9 stone 7
Size 6-8

nottheOP · 21/07/2015 22:07

I'm very much like you op, 11 st and a 12 10 in next but all your ranges fit me. I'm quite in proportion at least so clothes are easy.

emwithme · 21/07/2015 22:13

Enjoying the muscle was there first. I was Very Sporty/muscular growing up - I did ballet and gym from 2.5 to teens (still have ridiculous leg muscle definition) and then have laid fat on top as I've got lazy older.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 21/07/2015 22:38

8 st size 10

Dowser · 22/07/2015 07:13

I can't get my head around the different weights and dress sizes when people are the same height.

I'm 10-9 height 5'6 and a size 14

With jersey dresses and vanity sizing I can get into a 12 sometimes a 10 but in a structured dress sometimes a 16 isn't big enough and have to get an 18 and take it in.

I don't have skinny legs either.

My 5' 10 cousin weighs2 lbs less than me and is a size 10

I'm completely mystified.

mrsmilkymoo · 22/07/2015 07:29

Dowser I share your mystification! I suppose it depends on exactly how your weight is distributed...I have a horrible figure with a fat belly and big boobs but stick like arms and legs. I look a bit like an orange with cocktail sticks stuck into it! Maybe if my weight was more evenly spread, I'd be a smaller dress size.

flanjabelle · 22/07/2015 07:41

5 foot 6
10 stone
size 12 in most places, 10 in generous shops such as next.

Not quite happy with my weight yet. 5 months ago I was 12 stone 8 and a size 18 so I'm getting there.

RJnomore · 22/07/2015 07:47

Enjoying that's not correct. You can add muscle and fat at the same time no problem. It's hard to build muscle while losing fat though.

Turquoisetamborine · 22/07/2015 07:49

Had a baby three months ago so I'm now 11st 10 and size 14.
Was previously 10st 5 and size 12.
Would ideally be 10st. I've been as low as 8st and looked horrendous.

Notonaschoolnight · 22/07/2015 08:04

I'm same as turquoise I agree with your chart;

11.5 to 12.5 size 14
Though I occasionally struggle to get my 34f chest into a 14 shirt without it gaping

LobsterQuadrille · 22/07/2015 09:13

5 foot 8
8 and a half stone
Size 8 (6 in shops like Next)

I'm slim but flabby and untoned. I haven't done any exercise since school and I'm 45, have three weeks to a beach holiday and on here thinking about the best way to tone up quickly .....

Agreed it's very interesting that people are so different - something to do with muscle/fat ratio ....?

IvanOsokin · 22/07/2015 09:24

5ft 5.5in
9st 3-4lbs
Comfortably a size 12 (sometimes a 10 and a US size 6 - I could probably wear 10s more but am scared of looking squeezed into clothes!)

I'm another one who's astonished at people my weight being a couple of sizes smaller. I go to the gym three times a week and walk a lot but wouldn't say I'm muscular so maybe that explains it. I'm guessing it also depends on your body shape and where you buy clothes.

toptomatoes · 22/07/2015 09:32

Frame size is important too. I have little bones and a narrow frame. I'm 7.5 stone and a size 6. (Just under 5'6"). I have been the same weight since I was a teenager although my hips are a bit wider since having children. I've gone down from a size 8 since then but the size 6s are the same as my old 8s as they still fit!

helenahandbag · 22/07/2015 09:38

I'm 5' 5", 14st 5.5lbs as of this morning and a size 16 all over.

I have big boobs (34GG) and very wide shoulders and hips. I've been overweight since I was about 15 so I have no idea what I'll look like as I lose weight. The lowest I've been as an adult was 12st 10lbs and I was a size 14.
