Alevere / Alizonne

For reasons unknown, the name of the Alizonne diet has changed to Alevere. I have only known it as Alevere and wanted to start a new thread so people can find it under the new name.

I am nearing the end of week 1 and have lost 8lbs so far. I don't count this much as I lose 7lbs in the first week of any diet. I'll see how I go over the next few weeks.

It's a lot of work to follow but I'm getting used to it. Would be happy to swap tips with anyone - particularly on recipes.

Also very happy as I won £500 today which covers a lot of the 1st month costs!!! :)

Hi BexxG,
I did the last 3 months just having drink sachets and salads.

The clinic mentioned a few people did the same, one guy who started just before me only ever had one type for 5 months, they referred to him as the Caramel Man.

Andy

BexxG · 01/09/2015 09:02

Thanks Andy. I've ordered mostly drinks this week. I know in our clinic they said they had a lady that only ever had hot chocolate lol. The drinks are fine.

I think I am just having a sulky week this week. I am in a right mood LOL Its like if I cant have what I want then I just wont have anything. I might change my mind next week.

It scares me that I am only at my third weigh in. How on earth am I going to manage for the next 5 months!

Hoping for a good weight loss tomorrow to spur me on again. I know its such a short amount of time in the grand scheme of things, and I know it will all be worth it.

Trying to hang in there!

wolfie100 · 01/09/2015 12:37

Hi

It is great to read so many people are doing well, it really spurs me on.

I have not been as fast a weight loser as some of you seem to be. If you are like me and the weight is more stubborn to come off don't worry, just bear with it. I have now been on this diet for 7 months and have lost 5 stone 13.

I feel amazing and the fact that some weeks I have lost a very small amount or nothing has been difficult but it always comes good. It's a much smaller weekly average than some of you seem to have (very jealous!) but I am nearly at 6 stone! It's probably just been more expensive for me!

One thing I have learned is how much of a difference it makes what time of day you go to the clinic to get weighed. I now try to go there the same time every week and eat/drink the same thing that morning but it's not always possible. So what I do is always weigh myself at the same time in the week on my home scales first thing in the morning - that really helps me know what my true weight loss is.

Andy (singy) - please do keep coming back and telling us how it's going now you have finished. Hearing about your next stage would be really interesting and what maintenance is like.

I notice that a few posts are about what to say to people. I had to deal with this very early on as I have a lot of business lunches/dinners etc where there is a fixed meal or restaurant menu choice. I found I had no choice but to be very open and honest about what I am doing. I say I am doing a very strict diet where I can only eat fruit, salad and veg and only drink water. I stress that I can't have any salad dressing. I say therefore I will bring my own food and not to cater for me. Most people still do want to cater and serve up a salad and some fruit which I pick from. When it's a restaurant/hotel I ring ahead and say I am on a medical diet and can only eat undressed salad, veg and fruit. I have been very impressed at how accommodating they have mostly been. I

I have found that being upfront with people is a bit embarrassing but I have soon got used to it and it has surprised me how interested people (mostly women!) are to find out more. The fact so many people in my work life as well as my home life know about my journey is added pressure as I need to prove I can do it and keep it off. It will be embarrassing if I put it all back on when people have been so supportive. Another reason to make sure I don't!
After the first couple of stone the weight loss started to be obvious anyway so having me been upfront about the food aspect has given people the opportunity to mention it and the compliments I have received from work meetings etc has also helped spur me on.

Wanttogetslimmer- I also have started bike riding after work and have tried to do a small cycle most days. I never thought in a million years I would get back on a bike but after I got to about a 4 stone weight loss I found I wanted to- completely unexpected. I am a bit gutted though as autumn approaches this will be less and less possible with cold weather and darker nights so I will try and find an alternative.

2petcats- I used to have vanilla pudding with stewed rhubarb every day too. Then I got to stage 2 and I always have the dairy day rather than meat or fish. You get to have an egg and 200g plain yoghurt so I now have yoghurt and stewed rhubarb every day instead, that's very good too.

Audreypatterson- I have found 2 pickled gherkins with no sugar- both Mrs Elswood - Tesco sell Mrs Elswood sweet and sour cucumbers and they have no sugar just sweeter. Sainsburys sell Mrs Elswood Haimisha cucumbers which are not as sweet but have no sugar or sweetener and I think are very tasty. I couldn't find any jars of beetroot without sugar but then I realised that most of the vacuum packed fresh beetroot in the salad section of the supermarket has no sugar so this is what I get. Just the plain cheap version though.

Crabby1 - you raise a very good point re sweetners-can I also ask if anyone has found a good sweetener which tastes nice?

I started off with Canderel as that's what the diet says but have been concerned at the aspartame content. I have now moved to Truvia which is less tasty and more expensive but doesn't contain aspartame. I have looked at Xylitol and fructose but both have calories so are no good. The clinic say to stick with Canderel. Any suggestions?

Well that's all from me for now apart from to say that I am on holiday this week and was really nervous about it but we booked a self-catering cottage so it's actually been fine. I would find it really hard to stay in a hotel for a week though! How have other people managed the holiday season? I saw the caravan experience had been difficult for you BexxG which I really understood.

Keep up the good work everyone!
Xx

Hi audreypatterson

Sorry for such a late response, try putting a bit more water to the mix, and then baking them at a slower heat in silicone cupcake cases or mini loaf cases.

I tried paper cases, but the food just sticks to them.

ohtryingsohard · 01/09/2015 14:23

BexxG

Had an event on Sat and i ate 3 potato crisps and drank loads of water. I was feeling like you, but then i also thought of why i was doing this. I am doing it for medical reasons as well looking and feeling good. So i encourage myself once again.

It is hard, when people around you are eating your favorite foods, especially the ones that are "low fat" and "good foods" and you still can't eat them

I am a bit bored already and its only week 2 for me. However i am also thinking i can actually deal with a drink some days after my main of unlimited veg dinner just to compensate for a pudding i could have a Caramel Drink (ps add a pinch of salt...SALTED CARAMEL DRINK). Also i noticed that a lot of the savory options are the highlighted ones so only 1 a day of those, and it limits the food choices further still.

I have been a bit (tiny tiny bit) lax with my 200gm allowance, where i have had an additional 30gm of tomato or extra veg. But i am being very strong about the other stuff.

You are not alone on the time keeping issues. Monday to Friday i am so good. However come the weekend, i find myself missing or totally messing up times. I did it over the long weekend, so am going to work super hard from today till next weigh in on 7th Sept.

Finally - Keep at it! Try a bit more, and soon you will think what was i thinking!

Vjh85 · 01/09/2015 17:29

Hi all,

So good to keep up with everyone's posts and like me, there are some new starters on here!

So my first week, I started off with the pizza which I did initially like, by the third one, I was like, blurgh! Then I discovered the mash potato, chicken nuggets and the caramel drink and everything has been so much better!

I'm quite surprised how easy I've found it to stick to (although I did have 2 days where I only had 4 of the sachets because of work timings) and I've not really had any cravings, I think partly because the caramel drink is quite sweet and I have that at least once or twice everyday.

I told people a bit of a porky, in work and some of my friends, by saying I won a competition for this and that seems to keep them on the encouragement rather than judgemental. Seems to be easier for them to get so they don't push cakes and biscuits at me (they are still quite comfortable to stuff their faces in front of me though, skinny beggars!)

Anyway, so had my first official weigh in today and I lost 4lbs! I won't lie and say I wasn't hoping for a 6lb loss like some people do, but I'm very happy with my 4lb, plus I was looking at it that if I loose 4lb every week, then in 10 weeks that'll be 40lbs and I'll be quite a long way along!

Can I ask people about the ultrasound and skin tightening (giant Hoover) treatments? How are you finding them? Are the results noticeable? For those of you further along, are you still having them or when did they stop?

I will trying out the beatroot crisps shortly, see if they can cover and crisp cravings I get!

Thanks all, looking forward to the next batch of posts!

audreypatterson · 01/09/2015 20:48

Today went well- though I completely forgot to have my salad at lunchtime! Made a delicious veg curry with cauliflower cous cous this evening - very spicy- and Barts Spices now do a Pilau Rice spice mix that you can dry fry with the cous cous. Satsuma for pud - yum. Savored that one. Don't think I'll ever take fruit for granted again.
All got quite difficult once I got home. Mum (visiting) had made world's biggest toad-in-the-hole. So much leftover. Sausages and crispy batter calling out to me whilst stirring my "curry sauce". Resisted though. Can't imagine having this strength for the next 6 months though!

BexxG · 01/09/2015 21:25

I feel the same Audrey! I just keep on chanting "it will all be worth it, it will all be worth it!" It nearly killed me shopping in Sainsburys today. I've been fine up until this week and now all I want is a couple of ham sandwiches and a packet of cheeseballs LOL

I have resisted too, but it's been a tough week.

You guys are all so adventurous with your food though, I never was a "cook" before hand so making stuff is really difficult.

I'm trying mostly drinks this week to see how I get on.

Hoping weigh in tomorrow goes well.

Well done everyone! xx

ohtryingsohard · 02/09/2015 09:00

Good Morning Everyone

So temptation hit me so hard yesterday when my sister sat there eating my favorite food. Baked Beans on Toast!

Oh Sigh....however i was very well behaved and i had my mash potato and aubergine curry. Which i have to say tasted good too, thanks to the added cumin seeds and the tomato.

Has anyone tried to make a custard out of the vanilla dessert? Also are we allowed to eat sugar free jelly? Weight watchers do a lovely one and i was wondering if i could use that to make a pud?

Pipan127 · 02/09/2015 18:21

Just wondering if anyone has had to take antibiotics during the diet? I have had to have Nitrofurantoin which has sucrose in it. Dreading my weigh in now in case I have spoiled the ketosis. Will get weighed on Friday after 13 days so will be completely horrified if I haven't lost a decent amount. Am on week 8 and had lost 2st 5lbs at week 6.

BexxG · 02/09/2015 18:35

Hi hun,

Well done for resisting and sticking in there, my family had fish and chips last night sob I sat in the living room with the door shut.

Are we allowed aubergine? It isnt on my list that I was given. I'm not sure about the jelly. Maybe ring the clinic and ask.

Has anyone ever made the chocolate buns? I got a pizza thing to try today out of the swap box but I forgot to ask for a chocolate desert sachet to try so wont be able to make it yet anyway lol

I put a load of garlic powder in my chicken nuggets today, and had some tomatoes with my salad as I didnt have any strawberries left (my tablespoon of fat free yoghurt looked very pathetic in the bottom of the bowl LOL) so that was nice.

On a good note I lost another 4lbs today, which is great I know, just wish I wasnt so miserable so that I could enjoy the victory hahahahahaha

Anyone else had a weigh in?

BexxG · 02/09/2015 18:39

WOW pipan127 that is amazing! Nearly 2 and a half stone in 6 weeks! Well done.

I've only been on it for three weeks so havent had any illness to contend with yet thankfully. So of the other members might know.

I'm sure it wont have dont too much damage, let us know how you get on at weigh in :-)

Hilssinger1 · 02/09/2015 21:45

Hi all,
I start tomorrow, BMR was 2040. No idea if that's good, bad or average? But nervous as I know I have a long stretch ahead of me but Nottingham clinic - and the doctor - were brilliant!
6 1/2 stone to go.....

BexxG · 02/09/2015 22:03

Welcome Hilssinger1,

Long stretch to go here too. I have 7 stone to lose but am in week three and am a stone down. I'm not going to lie to you, its not easy, but everyone on here is really supportive and we're all going through the same thing.

Some of the guys who have been on it a while are very adventurous with their sachets and have some great tips.

Good luck on your first week, let us know how you get on Smile

Hilssinger1 · 02/09/2015 22:21

Thanks BexxG. I'm thinking it going to take 6-7 months so hopefully I can repeat your week 3 loss! Hopefully we can keep each other going!!!! ????????

BexxG · 02/09/2015 22:40

Yes definitely! I need all the encouragement I can get!! LOL! They reckon it will take me about the same time so we'll be on this journey together!

Re your BMR, I reckon thats pretty good. Mine is only 1760 which explains alot. I dont know if it does improve or not? But at least I know now which should help me keep the weight off once we're done :-)

Hilssinger1 · 03/09/2015 08:58

Hi Bexx
The nurse said to me that metabolic rate could go up during the plan due to the protein etc. That feels strange to me as had assumed it would go down as I lost weight....
And meal 1 ok, had the strawberry milkshake, didn't love it but was fine. They're going to email me my rough timings today so. Have an idea of phases etc. My OH doesn't believe I'll stick to it so am pretty determined....
Have a good day all x

BexxG · 03/09/2015 09:36

I havent tried the strawberry milkshake yet as I never liked them before the programme, although I never liked hot chocolate either and now that is the one thing I look forward to having in my sachets lol

Keep persevering. The first week is the hardest. I went through a lot of detox. I felt miserable, angry, hungry, headachey it wasnt nice but the weight loss at week 1 was worth it. Week 2 I found really easy, but I have been struggling again this week. I am very stubbon, so once I start something and get my head round it, I know that despite everything I wont deviate from the plan.

Its just getting in the right mindset. Sometimes the way I look at it is that I am sick and this is my medicine. I dont want to have surgery so this is what I am doing to prevent that. I want my life back.

I have between 5 and 6 months left on the plan, but in the scheme of the next 40 odd years its a blip in the ocean.

Hope you get on well today. Keep popping in and telling us how you are getting on x

ohtryingsohard · 03/09/2015 10:00

Hi Pipan127

I did. First week of starting on the diet, and i took them for 5 days. No problems with them at all. In fact they were easier on the tummy with the reduced amount of food!
Hope you feel better.

ohtryingsohard · 03/09/2015 10:28

BexxG

I have uploaded the food list i received from the clinic and i have been following. Aubergine is an unlimited food.

I made a chicken Burger (nugget) last night using my allowance of olive oil (1tsp of it) in a pan, i have to say either i am consoling myself, or i have just become acclimatized to the food. It was delicious!

As i am trying to promote healthy eating to my entire near and dears, i invested in an Tefal Actifry. It uses a 10ml spoon of oil to fry 1kg potato into a crispy chips. I only want to use my one cal spray to make Aubergine and Courgette (maybe swede) chips! I really hope it works and i can add variety to meal times.
I would use it after too. I just need to have a tidy up to get rid of something to house the gadget ;)

@ Hilssinger1 - GOOD LUCK and just to show the OH stick with it. BexxG is right, i work hard in a client facing job, and not that anyone else has said anything, but recently i found i was "disappearing" in a crowd. I was losing confidence in myself, and if i can stick with this for the next 4-6 months, then i can do anything, and this is such a short period of time. I have cases that last longer than that!

You never know your inner strength till you try!

Alevere / Alizonne
BexxG · 03/09/2015 11:43

Hi ohtryingsohard, thanks for that. Your list is exactly the same as yours with the exception of the aubergine! Do you think people do get different ones? Or perhaps I have got an old/new one?

Not sure, I will ask. Thanks

BexxG · 03/09/2015 11:43

"exactly the same as mine" I meant to say lol

Olive63 · 03/09/2015 12:49

Hi, My list is new and I don't get aubergine at all but I do get the whole of spring onions and not just the green part........ not sure why they should be different. Maybe different areas have different rules/ways of doing it.
I did ask about aubergine and they said it was definitely not on the list!

audreypatterson · 03/09/2015 21:32

@olive63. That's funny - when I asked at my clinic they said it was just an oversight in the list and that it was definitely allowed. And one of the first recipes you see when you turn to their recipe guide is aubergine parmegiana - can't imagine why they'd put it in there if not allowed.

audreypatterson · 03/09/2015 21:40

Started on a Sunday - so...
Part-week one: 1kg loss
Week two: 2kg loss.
That's half a stone in 11 days - hoping I can keep it up.

Found myself relying on drinks this week, as work was so busy and getting in too late to make anything nice.

And clinic ran out of caramel today (mild panic).
