Here we go again!

Ok it's the magic thread where we find inspiration, motivation and actually see the results we want and manage to hold on to them once we get them.

No more excuses (unless they are hilarious or necessary).

Welcome all!

That is shocking Green (especially as both in NHS).

I fed DS until 17months and DD until DD. Reminds me, must get some new bra's.

Totally with you Sol. I may have to defriend someone on fb who is a raging ukip supporter and against human rights/equality laws. Drives me mad (he is young too..). He had post this week re the professor that resigned from UCL, apparently just harmless banter.

I'm still fat. I'm not going anywhere near scales.
I had a 2 scoop ice cream today (rum and raisin).
Cant be bothered to cook, might have to get a take away.

We have days out planned for our week off. Aquarium, windsor castle, Legoland. Probably also do a few garden days with paddling pool.

Plan to start exante on Thursday. We shall see!

BeyondTheSea · 27/06/2015 18:45

DD until 18months.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 28/06/2015 20:39

I stepped on the scales. It wasn't pleasant. I may have called the scales a bad word. And kicked it a little bit. So I am starting over tomorrow. I'm very bloated, I'm not sure what's going on, it feels like PMT but it was only that TOTM a couple of weeks ago. I'm hoping it's not some sort of menopause thing (beats chest and wails "I'm too young!")

Your week next week sounds amazing Beyond. Will you let me know what Legoland is like please? I have it on my list of places to bring the kids. I hope you have a great time.

Isn't the word "banter" just the worst? When I hear it, it makes me think that the person saying it is an idiot. My teenage cousin used the term "cheeky bants" and I gave out to him for it, I felt so old!

i lost quite a bit of weight after ds1 was born 23 months ago so i hope to do as well this time around.

sorry for poor english bf ds2 and hard to type with one hand on laptop xx

SolitudeSometimesIs · 29/06/2015 20:59

Hi Racheyg,

of course you can join. Have you any idea how you want to lose the weight? You should take it easy on yourself, don't put yourself under too much pressure.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 29/06/2015 21:27

Hi Racheyg, congratulations on your new baby. Did you use MFP to lose weight last time?

I haven't weighed myself today. I have the fear. I've had a fast day, but now I'm starving. I want to make a cup of tea, but I dare not go to the kitchen. DH is out.
I'm taking things one day at a time. I haven't had a very healthy weekend. I did quite a lot of cooking from scratch though. We had no takeaways. I made a massive pan of chilli today and batched it up for the freezer before DH helped himself. I'm going to keep looking for recipes I can freeze, plus quick meal ideas.

Have you tried herbal tea for the bloating Sol? I have a couple of different types and they seem to work pretty well.

Have a great week Beyond. I'm so jealous of Legoland.

Greenrabbit · 30/06/2015 09:16

I survived last night. I had a coke zero and watched something interesting on TV (Wayward Pines-anyone else watching it?). I told myself I can eat all the rubbish I want tomorrow.

I've had fruit, oats and yogurt for breakfast. Going to try 5:2 combined with 80:20 approach. Off to toddlers now.

Still haven't been on the scales

Racheyg · 30/06/2015 13:00

I did use mfp last time, I did the 5:2 to start with to shift the 1st stone, then calorie counted.

Hope you are all enjoying the beautiful weather? X

BeyondTheSea · 30/06/2015 20:36

Hello racheyg and welcome. Take t easy though, 4 weeks is such early days.

Green and Sol, I feel your pain, I am starting exante on Thursday. Am enormous. Couldn't get into some size 14 clothes today..
Well done on your fast day Green. Hopefully the hot weather will spur us on.

Legoland review:
This was our 3rd visit. The park is too big to do in 1 day, you definitely need 2 or if not too far to visit, an annual pass works out for 3 of more visits. Also you can get 2 for 1 coupons on the back of kellogs packs. I have 2 if you would like them.
Definitely do so some research and work out which rides you want to do as the queues can build up. You can buy this queue beater thing, but think it's a bit of a cheek and expensive. Also probably not worth it if only doing the toddler rides.
Lots of the rides are height dependent which enrages DD.
Parking is £5-10 unless you have a annual pass. We arrived at 1030 (it's a pain to get to, M25/M4 and need to drive through windsor). We left at 3 (it was really hot and they were both getting tired). In that time DS did a fire engine ride thingy and they both did Balloon ride, submarine ride, toddler boat ride (there is an older one with horrendous queues), puppet theatre and duplo train. They also both went to the play area, walked around the star wars section (very cool figures). There is also a water play area which we didn't do this time. DS got a jake and the never lands pirate set in the shop. Loads of choice and would take lots of will power and possibly drama to walk away empty handed...
The food is overpriced and awful. We took a picnic. Lots of places to eat though. I guess you could manage for a day or 2 (pizza, burgers etc, DS tried the chicken nuggets and chips which was very poor). I noticed most people had picnics.

it is well worth a visit. A friend has stayed at the hotel and said it was good.

Hope this helps :)

Racheyg · 01/07/2015 11:23

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
Beyond, I can't wait to take dd1 and 2 to Lego land may have to wait a few years thou. Glad you had a good time.

Green, how are u finding the 5:2 I'm nervous on doing a diet like that while breast feeding but I know it works. At least the weather is hot, makes it easier to not eat too much.

Sol, the scales are never my friend I always weighed myself first thing on a Friday morning in the nude so I had the chance to relax a bit more at the weekend and work hard mid week

Enjoy the heatwave today. I love London in the heat (well apart from the tube and trains) xx

BeyondTheSea · 01/07/2015 12:26

Have you a vague idea re how much you want to lose Racheyg?

How about weightwatchers? That worked well when I was bf DS.

Do you live in London? I lived there for about 15 years, now moved out but still commute in.

Racheyg · 01/07/2015 14:58

I want to lose about 4 stone to get me to around 9st. I know will take time in just going to take it easy at the moment as I had to have csection and just eat sensibly at the moment.

I live in east London/essex borders. How do you find your commute? It takes me an hour to get to work on a good day do thank god I'm on mat leave on the weather as the trains will be awful :)

Racheyg · 01/07/2015 15:00

Beyond, how did you get on with ww? I've tried it but got frustrated when I plateaued

BeyondTheSea · 01/07/2015 15:33

My commute not too bad now, direct train to Euston but impossible to get in when signal probs etc

You'll probably lose quite bit in next few weeks without trying, water etc?
Think you need to be kind to yourself, 2 under 2 :)

I think weight watchers good for losing first stone or so, and also fairly gentle, if you make the right choices (which is hard...) you can eat quite a bit.
C section and bf (been there!) - really take it easy, I'd cut out white carbs, up protein and reassess in a few weeks. Think you could lose quite a bit just doing this.
Sorry I forgot to say Congrats earlier !

SolitudeSometimesIs · 01/07/2015 21:53

Hi all,

Racheyg - I found ww good for slow, steady weightloss but I too got frustrated when everything slowed down. Dropping carbs is great tip, it'll help with bloating. But really take it easy, you shouldn't put too much pressure on yourself.

Thanks for the review Beyond, it will be many years before we go sadly as it's a plane ride away. But I know the kids would love it. I have started a fund to bring them to Lapland when they are 6 and 4 - I am impossibly excited already. I will join you in the Hungry Exante club - it's all explained below.

That's great about the fast day Green. You should be proud of yourself, evenings can be very tough. When are you doing your second fast day?

Ok, so...bit of a disaster today. I was out with my SIL and she was going on about going away for my Dads birthday, we're all heading off for a midweek break as it's a big birthday - but I'd forgotten. It's in 3 weeks. I am Tubby Mc TubMonster and I have to go in to a pool with various family members who haven't seen me in a swimsuit since I was 12.

So I have panic ordered 15 days worth of Exante and I NEED to lose at least 1 stone. I got mortified even thinking about being in a swimsuit around others, I have zero confidence in myself and the thought fills me with dread.

I know I am being slightly hysterical but when I'm dressed I can hide my flaws, but in a swimsuit, I might as well be in my underwear Blush

Please someone hand me a grip!

I hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather!

OP posts:
Racheyg · 02/07/2015 08:13

Thanks for the advice with the carbs. It so hard as I love fresh bread and butter.......so diet unfriendly :(

Solitude good luck with the new diet I have heard a few things about it on mn and everyone has positive reviews. 3 weeks you can still make a difference. And treat yourself to a nice swimsuit :) x

SolitudeSometimesIs · 02/07/2015 09:57

Can you just avoid buying fresh bread for a few weeks? I have no self control if food is in the house but I use my trolley as the first line of defence and don't buy it.

My order will be here by 13th July, which seems ages, but I have some Exante left over from the last time. I'll start on Monday as we have plans over the weekend that involve eating out and at other peoples houses.

I put on a swimsuit this morning after my shower and it was most unpleasant. Lots of cellulite and my thighs were super pale - they haven't seen the sun in years. I may be booking myself in for a fake tan before I go.
Can anyone recommend a good style of swimsuit or any tricks to make me look less...trying to think of a polite word...nope can't think of one...bovine, yes bovine. I look like a fat cow and need some tips.

OP posts:
SolitudeSometimesIs · 02/07/2015 09:58

I had a quick google of cover up swimwear and got a wetsuit as my first suggestion. Actually made me laugh out loud!

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 02/07/2015 10:46

I'm sure you don't look like a cow Sol.Flowers you've lost loads. Good luck with the Exante. I feel it will be back in my life in the near future

I managed another fast day yesterday (hooray!) Well sort of, I had my meal all planned and calories worked out. Then we got stuck at the PIL because of the storms. So I had dinner there, it was the same as I'd planned for at home but I couldn't resist a few new potatoes.
Anyway, I'm sure it was under 700cals. I'm planning on a day like that tomorrow. The heat does stop you from wanting to eat as much. Shame that I'm a fat sweaty mess with crazy hair.

Rachey, I've only just restarted 5:2 (again!). I did try it when DD2 was 6months and lost about 10lb. But then I started eating more rubbish on the non fast days (although I was maintaining). I kept trying to do it again, but have never got past a week.
It's really difficult to avoid bread. It's so easy to eat when you are dealing with 2 little ones. That's when I put loads on.(toast diet) Have you tried the Warburtons/Kingsmill thins range? They do bagels (100cal), crumpets (50)and the sandwich thins(100). I'm trying to stick to those at the moment as they are much lower calorie. I think they are free on the WW filling and healthy plan too.

But like the others have said take it easy. I've had 2 CS and BF both of mine. It does take it out of you. My GP said not to start dieting until 12weeks PP. I know WW and SW won't usually let you join until 6weeks.

Legoland sounds brill Beyond. I need to do a tour of the South. Maybe next year when DD2 is less 'demanding'.
Hope your Exante re start goes well too. I'm tempted, but kind of want to try hard with healthy eating at the moment. I'm feeling more inspired about things.

Greenrabbit · 02/07/2015 10:49

Sol, I forgot to tell you about the St Tropez shower stuff. It was actually quite easy to use and I got quite a nice colour. It wasn't very dark, but it did build up quite well. Smelt abit, but no where near as bad as normal stuff. It didn't streak either. There's a massive thread about it on Style and bEauty.

Racheyg · 02/07/2015 13:15

Yes I can, I just have to dig deep for that will power :)

Maybe try bravissimo for a nice swimming costume, or a similar shop as they also sell by cup sizes. I'm sure you don't look like a cow, we always see ourselves in a different light. Flowers

Well done green for keeping up with the 5:2 even thou you ate away from home.

I start my healthy eating tomorrow....
Very nervous after eating what I want for 9 months Shock

Greenrabbit · 03/07/2015 21:14

Hi everyone, hope you're all good.

I had an okay diet day yesterday. Pretty healthy overall.

I'd planned another fast day for today (well under 800 calories). But it didn't work out. Had a stressful morning with the exhaust on the car going. (Which strangly I predicted yesterday). It's such a pain sorting anything out with a toddler in tow. Luckily FIL came to the rescue and has sorted it all out as DH has gone to watch car racing this weekend. So I'm drinking wine alone and ate cheese, bread and cured meat for dinner. I might even have some Malteasers soon.

I'm going to try to fast on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday next week. But we'll see how things go.

Racheyg · 04/07/2015 11:17

Green, ur dinner sounds amazing, ur making my mouth water :)

Not a great food day yesterday, was going to start my healthy eating but mil came round with yummy (unhealthy) food.

I don't think it's going to go to well today either sil is bring round cakes Cake oh well maybe I'm not 100% ready and focus to lose weight yet

Hope you are all enjoying the sun, I'm in shorts and top and I look huge :( but I need to be comfy and cool

Have a great Saturday everyone xx

SolitudeSometimesIs · 04/07/2015 22:02

You sound like you're doing really well Green, how are you finding the 5:2?

Maybe have a start over on Monday Rachey. I'm, sure you don't look huge, I hope you're enjoying the sun!

I had an Indian takeaway last night and a Chinese takeaway tonight and we're off to a bbq tomorrow, had loads of wine and snacky food - I'm not too good at this dieting business Grin. Had people over last night - hence Indian food and we were too lazy tonight.

However, I'm on Exante for the next 3 weeks. There will be no slipping. I had a squiz at the hotel we are all going to and the pool looks fab so I know we'll be spending a lot of time in a swimsuit.

Thanks for the kind words about me not being a SuperMoo. I completely panicked and it would normally be the thing that would send me in to the loving embrace of Dorito's, but I have put together a diet plan and I had a look for swimsuits. Thanks for the tip about buying with cup sizes Rachey I would have never thought of doing that.

Hope everyone is having a good Saturday!

Sol - I have got a swimsuit from M & S.
Bit like this:
www.marksandspencer.com/secret-slimming-pleated-waist-padded-swimsuit/p/p22420872
This is a nice cover up,
www.marksandspencer.com/v-neck-wood-block-kaftan/p/p22426282

I am sure you look much better than you think though. Good luck with the exante. I started yesterday (was ill thurs/fri). I managed to put even more weight on during my week off and things are totally desperate now.
I plan on doing a week, then having next weekend off (social plans) and then doing another week. I would love to lose a stone in july as well. I have set myself a more achievable target of 24lbs and then will reassess.

Well done on your fasting Green. DD is being quite demanding too - refused to get dresses yesterday...it's all just so exhausting...!
Are you starting tomorrow rach?
