Needing to lose 4st+ - support thread!

HippyJess · 12/03/2015 12:23

Since I want somewhere to track my progress I'm gonna do it here and have it act as a support thread for anyone else who wants to join me - because it certainly feels daunting and we can use all the help we can get!

I am 5 foot nothing and post DS (almost 6 months) I weigh (as of this morning) 95.2kg which I believe is around 14.5stone, but I avoid using st and lbs as I find it triggering. I would like to be back down to my pre-baby weight of circa 80kg by BiL's wedding in June. So...

HippyJess
SW: 95.2kg
GW1: 80kg (June)
GW2: 68kg (September)
UGW: 58kg (March 2016)

Short Term Goal: Do Davina's 15 Minute Fit every day for a week, starting today. I did it, and some of the easy versions were hard :( which is why I need to keep going.

Hope someone out there will want to join me! Hoping to post once a day to keep myself on track :) now off I go to make myself an omelette and veggies for lunch!

Thanks Stellar, sorry I must sound like a right misery guts coming on here every week moaning about having not lost enough - i'm trying to stay outwardly positive in RL so coming on here to moan stops me annoying DP and workmates so much!

As for units - i'm terrible, i've set all sorts of goals in both units (each stone, 10kgs losses etc) so I drift in between units with shocking abandon!

Am feeling more positive this evening - I measured my waist and i'm now in the NHS recommended 'high waist size' rather than the 'very high waist size' - only 5 more cm until i'm in the recommended 'ideal waist size'; ticking more healthy boxes!

pippistrelle · 28/09/2015 06:31

Dyrne - Stellar is right. You shouldn't be hard on yourself and any loss is positive. If you're in any way geekily inclined, plotting your losses can be helpful and encouraging in showing the downward trajectory.

And Stellar - white water rafting!? Wow. (I'm sorry your cold is still hanging around but it must at least have slightly less intense symptoms now because I don't think you could have contemplated white water rafting at earlier stages in the life of this cold. Either that or you are mighty impressive at overcompensating, and ignoring adversity. Which - given that you were white water rafting - you probably are!)

pippistrelle · 28/09/2015 06:39

Bad, bingey, self-sabotagey day yesterday. I despair. But luckily, I don't usually despair too long, and I've certainly got better at not letting over-eating go unchecked for as long as I used to.

But while it's happening, I really feel like I have so little control over it. It's kind of upsetting really. It's like I have one of those angel/devil conversations (often featured in Tom and Jerry) going on more or less permanently.

Stellar67 · 28/09/2015 16:03

Ignoring adversity Pippi. If the kids were not going for the first time and nervous I'd have been in bed. Took lots of flu meds and got on with it!

I've been overeating today. And now I feel sick and bloated. Also shattered and need some matchsticks for my eyes.
Pippi you need to punch that conversation Wink

Dyrne · 28/09/2015 20:24

Thanks Pippi, I'm feeling much more positive today. Sorry to hear you had a bingey day - well done for recognising it though and getting yourself back on track - hopefully the angel on your shoulder is winning the argument!

I've done OK today - had a big breakfast but have managed to balance it out with my other meals and keep (just) under my calorie goal. Will be better today - it's always difficult when i'm travelling with work but i'm getting better at singling out low calorie, easy to grab stuff.

Stellar - well done on the rafting with your cold!!

Hi Kay I know what you mean about the gym. I have found I go to the classes where the instructors are supportive. They are probably not what I "need". But I'm there so that's the main thing!
You will get support in here. Smile

I still have a cold, maybe it's settled in for the winter? Hmm
I did, move myself on in yoga the other day, getting more bendy. My belly and boobs do get in the way though. BlushGrin
Hope everyone has a clearer nose than me.
Hope huffy is enjoying the sun. Not jealous, not at all.

Hello Kay - hope things are going well.

I think I have the thread cold. It must be one of those computer viruses. (See - bad jokes: I must be ill.)

I've also eaten all the thread's biscuit quota. Still on jury service and fellow jurors are force-feeding me biscuits in the hanging around periods. I honestly think I'm having my worst week yet in terms of consumption, and I'm likely to finish the week with a gain: it will be deserved. But I haven't lost my perspective, and I know there's a bigger picture, and in those terms, I'll be okay. I'm considering jury service to be exceptional circumstances and I'll be ruthless once I get back to reality (my reality, that is. I daresay a trial couldn't get any more real for the defendants.)

Oh no. Are we on the slippery slope?
Come on under the lurgy blanket. Hot drinks and pippi can have the biscuit tin.
My friend is having troubles so we are on the fat food and wine tomorrow. Slippery slope.....

I feel your pain Stellar - I have blepharitus (SP) a kind of eye infection - I have to put eye drops in for two months, it is cused by my bloody rosacea, so I have a red swollen face and bleary eyes!! I cant even wear make- up as it makes it worse.

I had a STS this week which is fair enough cos I have not been disciplined. Must do better

pippistrelle · 02/10/2015 10:38

Blimey, we're all falling to bits.

^^

Stellar - really, vent away if it would help. I like to think it's not just about food here, but also for support in getting through things that are likely to cause issues with food.

Hope things improve for all rapidly.

KayDee81 · 02/10/2015 12:39

Update:

So i made it to the Gym!! twice in a row.

Think im one of the lucky ones, not been ill yet. (famous last words)

Hope all are well! x

Fab work Kay! Sorry about your eyes Vicki. Flowers
I'm on medication for my thyroid and it isn't working. I have so many symptoms of someone not on the meds and I am getting worse. My hair is falling out now.
Drs say I'm fine. Blood tests fine. They are treating a couple of the symptoms. I'm hitting a brick wall. They don't see it as a whole issue and 30 separate ones because my thyroid is fine.
Anyway meeting head of practice in a couple of weeks. I can't work just now. Can't walk. I'm wondering if my weight isn't budging because of it but I hate blaming lack of weight loss on anything but indulgence. Sad

pippistrelle · 04/10/2015 01:57

Oh, that's tough, Stellar, you poor thing. It sounds like a LOT to deal with. And tough too that you have to wait a couple of weeks for a meeting about it: you must feel very frustrated, and that people just aren't listening to you.

pippistrelle · 04/10/2015 01:59

Well done on gymming, Kay, especially as gyms can be very daunting places.

Dyrne · 04/10/2015 09:15

Hi all, 1.5lb (700g) loss for me this week, pretty happy with that as I was away with work for 4 days, eating out every day, so quite pleased that I managed to keep the calorie count under control; particularly as it was insanely stressful and in the past would have definitely sent me into a chocolate binge. Have now lost over 2.5 stone in total.

Hi Kay, welcome to the thread! I know what you mean about the gym, I haven't muscled up the courage to join one yet - I did Curves a couple of years ago which was really good and supportive (though I was actually smaller then than I am now!) so I've been thinking about giving that another go. Well done for managing to go to some sessions this week!

Sorry to hear people are feeling so rubbish this week - it really is a horrendous time of year for catching everything that goes around. I've been dosing up on vitamin C to try and ward off the inevitable.

SFB just focus on feeling better for now. You've done fantastically well so far so a couple of bad weeks shouldnt set you back too far.

Pippi I completely agree about exceptional circumstances - must be a pretty full on case if its going to drag on so long, so enjoy the biscuits!

Viki a relative had a flare up of that condition recently so I know how horrendous it can be - she could barely see everything was so swollen up! I think that definitely gives you a free pass for your STS this week.

Stellar I'm sorry you've been so ill - a friend of mine has thyroid issues and it really takes it out of her sometimes. It really does make losing weight so much harder so you should be proud that you've been managing to lose at all! Fingers crossed you get to the bottom of things; I agree with Pippi, having to wait must be so frustrating :(
