Needing to lose 4st+ - support thread!

Since I want somewhere to track my progress I'm gonna do it here and have it act as a support thread for anyone else who wants to join me - because it certainly feels daunting and we can use all the help we can get!

I am 5 foot nothing and post DS (almost 6 months) I weigh (as of this morning) 95.2kg which I believe is around 14.5stone, but I avoid using st and lbs as I find it triggering. I would like to be back down to my pre-baby weight of circa 80kg by BiL's wedding in June. So...

HippyJess
SW: 95.2kg
GW1: 80kg (June)
GW2: 68kg (September)
UGW: 58kg (March 2016)

Short Term Goal: Do Davina's 15 Minute Fit every day for a week, starting today. I did it, and some of the easy versions were hard :( which is why I need to keep going.

Hope someone out there will want to join me! Hoping to post once a day to keep myself on track :) now off I go to make myself an omelette and veggies for lunch!

Long walk yesterday, healthy salad and 1 bottle of wine with a friend last night = 1kg of that 1.9 I gained over the weekend has gone this morning Grin

I got rid of a lot of size 18 clothes in case they tempted me to eat too much again! Keeping some of the size 16s and a couple of nice 18 dresses which, if I can keep this up, I will have altered once I hit goal weight.

Lovely sunny morning making me feel positive today

Have a nice day y'all

Stellar67 · 19/08/2015 10:18

Well done London. I am hoping to have a clearout of clothing soon. I wouldn't mind altering a couple of dresses. Good idea.
I'm feeling a little better today. Hit the carbs last night, and this morning, to stay awake but I would rather feel better right now.
Bake off tonight. Will be sitting making my rug along to eat instead of eating cakes and drinking wine.

DowntownFunk · 19/08/2015 10:49

Up a couple of pounds. I'll drink lots of water and now the kids are back at school resume the long walks I was taking with my friend. I had a great time away, I can live with a small gain.

vickibee · 19/08/2015 10:51

R u in Scotland Downtown, mine go back on Sept 3rd.

I managed to purchase a pair of size 16 trouser at the weekend which was nice, even though they are a large fitting it made me feel better. my current clothes are baggy and I do need to get new especially for work

Yes, I'm Scottish Grin

My children finished for the hols on 24th June.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 20/08/2015 10:10

Another long walk, healthy salad and just one glass of wine = 800g of the weekend weight gain gone.

I am so close to getting under 80kg for the first time in god knows how many years...

Had my weekly weigh in and I am pleased to say it is a 2 pound loss, so 39 in total. I would like to lose three next week to get to 3 stone.

Well done vicki Grin

I've got rid of that couple of lbs from last weekend today and happy.

I'm only eating when hungry, so in practice this means not a huge amount in the day (unless of course I feel hungry and I normally don't) and a standard evening meal, but not a massive portion.

My cupboards were bare and pretty much the only thing I had all the ingredients for last night, that everyone fancied, was spaghetti carbonara. I used 500g spaghetti, parmesan cheese, double cream, olive oil, lots of bacon, eggs, onions, garlic and herbs. It was gorgeous. Kids and DH enjoyed it too.

My big surprise was when I entered the carbonara recipe into MFP and it worked out at only 332 calories per portion. I had divided the whole thing by 8, DH had 3 servings, DD1 2 servings, DD2 1 serving, me 1 serving and there was enough leftovers for a box for the freezer.

Eating a creamy carbonara doesn't feel like being on a diet. Easyloss say you are NOT ON A DIET (repeatedly). Of course I'm "cheating" by logging everything on MFP but it is working so I won't change. MFP speaks to my Fitbit too which is handy. I haven't listened to a hypnosis session for a month but now the kids are back at school I will. Following their guidelines is enough but the hypnosis is supposed to reinforce them.

I was bought some basic digital WW scales as a joke while I was pregnant by a hilarious friend

Are they still your friend, shite?

The scales at our w/e place are WW (I didn't buy them, just found them in the bathroom cupboard) and I'm ALWAYS a few lbs heavier on them than my home ones...the difference is on average 4lbs. My home ones always matched the slimming clubs' scales back in the day when I went to slimming clubs.

I suppose it doesn't matter what the scales say. I was at an Ed Byrne comedy gig once and he did a routine about scales being the most useless item in the house. He's right. You either look in the mirror and you're happy or you're not. Your clothes either fit or they don't. The number on bathroom scales is an irrelevance. But I still can't give them up Grin

Most slim, fit, healthy people don't possess scales.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 21/08/2015 21:52

Last weekend's weight has gone, thankfully. Plus a wee bit more off. Am now at 80kg. 10kg to go.

Well done on your loss vicki

Downtown I'm aiming to get to a pkace where I can ditch the scales... I can't spend the rest of my life obsessing with the bloody things! But it's a double-edged sword because never weighing myself ever was how I ended up such a heifer. And interestingly I was aiming for size 14 in the main, but now I'm comfortably there I am still, according to most sources including the NHS BMI calculator, in the overweight category. I reckon though that if I can stay between 70kg (healthy weight) and 75kg (just overweight) and keep eating healthily I'll be ok. Thanks for the broth recipe, by the way. Definitely going to make vats of that in the colder months.

brains I want that mug! Is your MiL still with you?

hello everyone else, hope you're all ok. I wonder where pippi is?

OnMyShoulders · 22/08/2015 12:59

Am feeling very inspired by all your weight losses.

This week's gone better than I thought. The headaches didn't last long and with DH and DC back to work and school, I've been too busy to think about food much. We are also back to eating decent evening meals again as during the school hols, we get back late from days out and dinner needs to be something quick.

I've lost 3lb since Monday but it could be more/less as I swapped my mechanical scales for digital ones on Thursday. I guess next Saturday's weigh in will be a better indicator of how I'm doing. I'm hoping for good things though. I've cut so much rubbish out of my diet, I'm eating less and I'm doing more, including walking to school and back twice a day now, which is about an hour a day in total.

DH being around makes me want to snack though. I think this is because he's been my partner in crime before now and likes sneaky puddings and big bags of Revels sitting on the sofa on a Friday night as much as me. I seem to think about food much less when he's not here.

Love the twat mug!

That's me back from the gym class. 6 weeks away because of school holidays. I hurt already.
I'm going out to enjoy what's left of the sun. Weighing in tomo Confused enjoy what's left of Sunday all.

pippistrelle · 25/08/2015 18:41

Hello everyone. Sounds like everyone is on track so send me your positive vibes please! Back from hols where I ate ALL the cheese, ALL the bread, ALL the butter, ALL the chocolate, and QUITE A LOT of the wine. Man, it was good. The scales aren't happy with me but my size 12 clothes are still okay on me, and I'm not 'officially' weighing myself until Friday so I hope I'll have made a dent in my extra poundage by then.

OnMyShoulders · 25/08/2015 19:09

How's everyone doing?

I woke up this morning feeling heavy and bloated, I think because my period is due at the weekend. I decided to weigh myself and was disappointed to find that I was the same weight as on Thursday. I know it's only Tuesday now but DH has been filling my head with 'oh you'll lose loads of weight this week if you just stay focused'. I really have though.

Then, when I was already feeling a bit despondent, some bastard at the school asked me if I was pregnant!

pippistrelle · 25/08/2015 20:52

That's really harsh, Shoulders. I was taught that you should only ask if someone is pregnant if you can see the baby's head... Advice to live by.

Not losing weight when you've been dedicated is also harsh, but it'll come (or rather, go), it really will. Sometimes I think it's just a bit of a shock to the system, and your body holds on to it, almost. But it can only hold on so far before it realises that resistance is futile.

LondonHuffyPuffy · 25/08/2015 21:30

Hello Pippi, welcome home! Your holiday sounds ALL kinds of awesome!

I can't seem to get below 80kg, despite a pretty good week since the camping trip. What can I do to persuade my body that resistance is futile?!

I'm hoping it is hormonal - I empathise, shoulders - I started my period today. 5 days early. I seem to have synchronised with the other women in my team. The plus side is that hopefully I will stick to this cycle and therefore get it over and done with before I do the Shine Walk next month. Also hoping that after the weekend my weight will be in the 70s. If it is I'll buy some size 12 flares to celebrate Grin

You're doing brilliantly, Brains. It's only five minutes ago you were excited to reach 13 stones. Your rate of loss is well impressive.

Huffy - sadly, into every weight loss a little plateau must fall. And it sucks. I know you walk loads but your body has probably (well, definitely) become more efficient at it. Would it be possible to inject a different sort of exercise just to shake things up a bit? Maybe some weights as they're supposed to be good for helping to increase metabolism, with fat burning benefits that last quite a long time after you stop. Maybe just one of those stretchy band things that you can use at home, as they're easy to tuck away somewhere when you're not using it, unlike actual weights. Or a kettlebell - bit more bulky but swinging it about for just five minutes burns 40-50 calories, there's loads of stuff you can do with it, and it really does help with muscle definition, if you happen to be afflicted with the dreaded bingo wings. (I am, but less so now.)
