So, I'm changing my life on Monday...

Well, that's what I hope. Am currently overweight. I am tall so can carry it quite well, but I always feel very flabby and am uncomfortable with my size. I have lost weight successfully before so I know I can do it, but have lacked a bit of motivation and willpower in the last year. Gradually my weight has crept up and trying on clothes yesterday was not fun!!

My plan is this:
Food diary - am a mindless eater
Drink more water - tend to eat when I am actually thirsty
Move more - this will be the biggest change. I work FT now and move much less within my everyday life. I now need to factor in exercise as it is no longer part of my day to day life.

I would like to lose 14 pounds in total, but am going to start with 7 pounds as my first goal!

So, anyone care to join me?

How's it going people?!
Cheeky weigh in suggests I'll have stayed the bloody same this week too so I immediately tried to rectify by running 5K and now I'm knackered. You never know it might help. Grin

LetMeDriveTheBus · 29/05/2015 20:07

Evening fellow life changers!

First the scales haven't budged for me all week so I'm feeling a bit disheartened. Not enough to get out and do something to remedy the situation though! Grin. Big respect to you!

Got a family day out and picnic tomorrow so going to do a bit of scoffing I'm sure!

LetMeDriveTheBus · 30/05/2015 06:46

2 pounds off!! Not too sure what happened over night but I don't really care!

So I started this thread at 175.5 pounds and now weigh 156.5. Yayee! Grin

DakotaFanny · 30/05/2015 12:48

Awesome job Bus!! Brilliant.

Another STS for me, but up to 1800 calories and feeling good.

Wonder if I should leave you all alone now I'm not officially dieting??

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 30/05/2015 16:16

Not surprised. Have stayed the same, I think that's the 5th week I've stayed the same. Crazy! It has been half term though, so I'm lucky not to have gained. Will I break my duck next week, please scales I only want to lose 1 lb.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 30/05/2015 16:17

Well done on the loss letme. I'm depressed dakota that you can STS on 1800 cal and I'm staying the same on 1350 cal. :(

LetMeDriveTheBus · 30/05/2015 19:29

Dakota we'd still love to have you about if you'd like to stay!!! Grin

First Sad.

DakotaFanny · 31/05/2015 09:38

I'm hoping I can STS up to around 2200. The idea I am testing is that my body is knackered by all the years of deficit. If I can convince it that it is safe because I am feeding it all the calories it really wants for a few weeks, then when I cut it back down by a few hundred calories it will finally let go. That's the theory. The practice may be very different. It certainly feels bonkers to be eating all these calories, and I am disappointed that I am not going to be a size 10 in a swimming costume (pah!) this Summer, but long term, this might just be right for me. Have a read if any of that makes sense (EM2WL)

On the other hand, you guys are doing brilliantly. Keep plugging away First. Maybe your body is happy where it is and there just needs to be a breakthrough point before you can get motoring again???

Thanks for letting me hang around.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 01/06/2015 13:28

Sounds interesting Dakota. Keep us updated.

Today is my 100th day logging in MFP Grin.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 01/06/2015 14:13

Thanks! :)

I'm not going to give in, I've done well but my goal remains to be just under 10stone. I will get there. I ran yesterday so I'm back to my 3 runs a week which I'm sure will help.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 01/06/2015 18:39

You sound positive and motivated First. I'm sure you'll hit that goal.

nsrnewyou79 · 02/06/2015 17:56

Hi hope you dont mind if I join, struggling, been trying to lose a stone for about 8 months, i lose 7lb and then put it back on within having a few "days off" if im low or hormonal!! Im trying to stick to it now but if i go out ( im quite a social person then i struggle to not induldge, once ive indulged i just go mad and stuff my face!!! any ideas?

LetMeDriveTheBus · 02/06/2015 18:43

Hello and welcome Smile.

I've found doing a version of intermittant fasting (16:8, where I eat in an 8 hr window) has really helped me get out of that mindset. Previously I was terrible for thinking "oh fuck it" if I deviated at all from the plan and then I'd want to eat all the food in the world! It's reduced my appetite loads.

But it's a really personal and individual thing, finding the plan that works for you.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 03/06/2015 14:06

Welcome newyou.

It's Wednesday and although I'm running I'm eating pretty badly. :( sigh.

I am motivated, but less than when I had lots of weight to lose IYSWIM.

DakotaFanny · 05/06/2015 06:40

Up to 2000 cals and, weighing a day early, up nearly a pound. This 'experiment' just got scary.....!

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 05/06/2015 07:40

I daren't try a cheeky weigh in. I'll weigh tomorrow after my run (naughty to wait until after the run but who cares). If I'm still 10stone 7lb for the sixth week running I'm going to be sad. Sad

LetMeDriveTheBus · 05/06/2015 18:01

Interesting to see how it pans out though Dakota. Early days. What's your TDEE?

First fingers tightly crossed for tomorrow.

Scales look like I'm STS but it's not over til the not quite so fat lady weighs in tomorrow!!

LetMeDriveTheBus · 06/06/2015 08:29

1 and 1/2 pounds off. Horaay! I'm 154 and on the brink of 10 stone something! Something weird happens on a Saturday morning as the scales rarely move in the week Confused.

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 06/06/2015 08:38

STS! :(

Right that's it. I need a foolproof plan of action for next week. Either that maybe 10stone 7lb is my 'natural weight' but I hope not because I'm only 5'3" I want to be 10stone!

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 06/06/2015 08:39

Sorry I forgot to say yippee to you letme - that's great!! :)

LetMeDriveTheBus · 06/06/2015 13:56

Thanks First.

Sorry it's another STS for you. What's your plan for this week? I'm full of admiration for you maintaining even though I know you're still a little way from your goal.

I've just done a weights session with my personal trainer. Was brilliant! I feel very strong! My muscles are going to absolutely kill tomorrow though!!

DakotaFanny · 06/06/2015 14:51

Ah First- sorry dude! Maybe a week of experimenting? Extra water? A day off and a splurge? Sometimes that seems to get things moving? Keep going and well done for persisting.

Well done Bus! What I wouldn't give to weight ten stone something (both of my thighs probably!!)

My TDEE is around 2300.....still 300 scary calories to go! I have given up on the idea of looking good in the summer and started looking for good thick sarongs! Determined to look good for Christmas though!

FirstOfficerDouglasRichardson · 06/06/2015 16:18

Going to have a week of running and Davina. I really don't want to eat less. I'm limiting myself to 1370 calories a day, although probably in reality closer to 1500. I really think the problem is that the food I've eaten recently is crap. Processed and rubbish. I'm going to do more home cooking next week and keep up the exercise. At least I'm not gaining - I have to keep telling myself that's good at least.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 06/06/2015 17:27

Looking good for Christmas is a really achievable goal Dakota. It's taken me 3 and 1/2 months to lose 21 and 1/2 pounds.

First that sounds like a good plan for this week.

LetMeDriveTheBus · 09/06/2015 20:48

How's the week going so far?

I've got just under 10 weeks until my birthday. Would love to have lost another 7-10 pounds by then. I'd be almost at goal too. I've got a week away in a couple of weeks so hopefully that won't send me off track too much.
