Macloveswill · 11/01/2015 09:57

Hi, I started on 1st Jan at 18st 10lbs and I have so much to lose, it would be lovely to share my journey with others who have over 6 stones to lose.

I know it's going to be a really long slog and I'll need help staying on the straight and narrow. I have to do it this year, no excuses!

So far I have lost 8.4lbs in first 11 days, but that seems tiny when I've got nearly nine stones to lose altogether. My goal is 10st.

Anyone out there? All buddies welcome Grin

Not good news on the gran front unfortunately but atleast now they know its cancer things at the hospital are starting to speed up and she has more hospital apps next week where they will discover full extent but looks like it hasnt spread.

House pics taken and look good and i managed to negotiate a 50% reduction in fees.

Food was rubbish today
2x bpcs, pepperamis, cheese and corned beef eaten in the car and for dinner i shall have a green smoothie. I have spent a lot of time in the car and havent drunk enough so banging headache. I have hardly seen poor hubby and he is off again for a week on sunday. Hardly seen my kids today either.

Student change over day tomorrow so loads of washing bedding but will head swimming with the kids and might try and squeeze in a gym session.

Hope everyone is a good day.

Mrsstevejones · 21/03/2015 08:58

uurrgghh i think i am coming down with the flu,i ache all over and painkillers are just dulling it, luckily i am almost never ill but to get it all at once doesnt seem fair. Woe is me lol.

Had my BPC, then another coffee with cream.

Lots of washing today as one set of students leaving and another set coming tom. Hubby will take the kids out so i might head back to bed, he is off again tom morning so i need to try and shake this off.

I think i will make fish pie tonight, a good bit of low carb comfort food should sort me out.

Last night i had some nuts, a glass of red wine and a little bit of dark choc, i was very pleased with my ability to have a bit and then put the rest back.

Have a great weekend everyone, SBC

Macloveswill · 21/03/2015 11:13

Oh Mrs....so sorry about your Gran, I hope they can treat her effectively and she can pull through. And sounds like the flu's got you whilst at a low ebb after your sicky bug. Fingers crossed you're back to working order soon.

A quiet weekend for me this week, go on holiday next Saturday, so making the most of a chilled one. Think I will still do my walks tonight and Sunday. Just off out for a pub lunch after DDs ballet class...already checked online their menu...just a nice salad i think for me.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Sound like you're having a tough time atm MrsS. Hope you're feeling better soon and wishing your Gran much strength.

Mrsstevejones · 21/03/2015 14:31

Ah thanks everyone, my gran is very positive and it doesnt look like it has spread but will have a better idea by next week, the MRI scan wasnt clear as she has so much fluid build up but a CAT scan next week should show everything. She even said i wasnt to use this as an excuse to not diet and comfort eat, as i still had a long way to go - typical her! lol.

I will be fine, i have been taking my vits and painkillers and will hopefully throw this off, in the grand scheme of things a cold is better than a D&V bug! Off to bed for a nap whilst hubby watches the rugby.

Just had a bacon salad with cheese, yum.

Hubby away next week but mum coming down again for the week so that will help and its great to have her back in the same country.

Keep strong everyone

Mrsstevejones · 21/03/2015 18:45

Had a long sleep and i feel much better now, thankfully. Hubbys off on his work trip in the early hrs so we are having an indian takeaway for dinner - just need to make good choices now mmm.

Mrsstevejones · 21/03/2015 23:05

Lush dinner extra spicy chicken jalfrezi, sag paneer (never had it before can def recommend it), cauliflower bhaji served with hm cauli rice, had to be spicy or i couldnt taste it! delicious.

Macloveswill · 22/03/2015 08:26

Ooh that does sound tasty Mrs. I had to have some trusty dynamite (cauli rice) for dinner with chilli to shift things as the constipation is still a problem and lo and behold this morning I'm 1.1lbs down! So 30lbs lost...16st 8.6lbs now and only 0.9lbs to go to hit the 25% mark. It's bleedin slow at the moment, but at least it's coming off!

Nice day today meeting old pal for coffee and then the park this afternoon with DH and DD and some friends and their kids.

Happy Sunday!

Well done on the loss Mac! I love sag paneer MrsS, I love Indian food on this woe.

I've had a good weekend food wise but did end up having a few too many glasses of wine on Friday. We bumped into some friends and ended up having a spontaneous evening in the pub which almost never happens.

Macloveswill · 22/03/2015 08:37

Thanks Prof....those impromptu nights are usually the best aren't they?! It's my first booze free weekend in a while (angelic face Smile)

Mrsstevejones · 22/03/2015 08:41

Everyone has lovely plans for this weekend - we are off to the beach with the kids and then i am going to try again to take my mum out for a nice lunch.

I love a good trip to the pub with friends esp the ones not planned for - doesnt happen any more mind! Going on Macs experiences you should start loosing again by mid week.

Well done Mac on the weight loss, even though its slow its still going down - you do seem to loose consistently.

Indian food is made for low carbing and i didnt miss the rice or nan bread at all.

I am not sure what the scales will say tomorrow as i havent really been eating enough, done any exercise or drunk nearly enough water. I have also had red wine, dark choc, nuts and indian food and i am sure there were a few sneaky carbs in there! And my lovely mother cant seem to remember to put cream and not milk in my coffee - but i shouldnt complain as its a treat having one made for me!

Mrsstevejones · 22/03/2015 08:43

In other news i now have my glasses and can see. I didnt realise how bad my eyesight was until i put them on!! I actually quite like them, i am hoping they grow on me.

Macloveswill · 22/03/2015 08:47

Thanks Mrs....yes it is consistent, but could do with it speeding up a bit if I'm to stay on target.

I really need to try a bit more Indian food on this diet. I've only done a basic curry so far. Sag paneer sounds lovely!

DH currently in the kitchen rustling up some fried ham off a joint and some eggs. Yum!

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 22/03/2015 08:48

It was lovely. dh and I ended up back at home, slightly tipsy, going "That was nice wasn't it", "Yes it was, really nice", "So nice to be spontaneous", "Really really nice" ad infinitum!

The next few weekends are going to be difficult to manage. Next weekend my parents are coming to stay, I haven't seen them since before Xmas and it's my Dad's birthday so I have to play the genial host and lay on lots of food and booze. The weekend after we're going up to them (easier as a guest though, I'll have more control) then the weekend after that we're going to PIL which will be a nightmare because mil just cannot cede control where food is concerned. No doubt I will be posting in depth about that one in the run up!

Mrsstevejones · 22/03/2015 09:38

families eh??? Post away, i have certainly used this board for a good moan - sorry guys!

Just think of all the weightloss comments you will get if they havent seen you since xmas.
You could develop a bit of a delicate tummy or be getting over one ... then you could pick at the bits you want to eat and leave the bits you dont?

My mum is so funny she keeps telling me i have to face her as i leave the room as she is jealous of my skinny bum or demanding back her fat jeans back she lent me as they obvs dont fit anymore -she has single handedly made up for the lack of "have you lost weight" comments from everyone else i know. The other day she looked me straight in the face and asked me if i had an eating disorder, then burst into tears of laughter and said well done for the weight loss. Bless her.

When i am better my plan is to really up the exercise. My gym sessions will have to change with students here all summer so i need to create a new timetable and i am going to try to include circuits and kettlebells. I think i need more cadio and weights in my life - thats the way to change your shape from what i have read. Just need to shift this cold now!!

Happy sunday everyone

LetMeBeLight · 22/03/2015 10:19

Morning all. I'm in the midst of a very busy weekend, stayed on track with food although now I'm so tired all I want to do is crawl into bed with a massive bag of crisps! Off to go look at wedding venues now, will be back properly tomorrow. Hope you all have good days.

ProfYaffle · 22/03/2015 10:53

Thanks MrsS. My parents are lovely, I've already told them I'm low carbing and they'll bend over backwards to accommodate me. Mum's a bit of a health nut (been skinny her whole life. I take after Dad, naturally Hmm) she's interested, if a tad bewildered, about the high fat bit after years of eating low fat.

PIL are another matter. Last time we stayed there I swapped my roast potatoes with dh for some of his beef. MIL clocked this but didn't say anything. Then 4 days later she rang dh and accused him of secretly becoming vegetarian Confused

This time round we're planning on coming clean and telling them about the low carb thing. I'm dreading it, MIL will get all PA and resent doing anything different for me (yet also loses her temper if I bring my own food) and FIL (life long athlete and healthy eater) will nag me endlessly about the high fat thing. Can't say I'm looking forward to it!

Mrsstevejones · 23/03/2015 09:33

Prof its lovely your parents are so supportive, i havent really explained the diet to anyone as i cant be doing with defending my choices. Also i find it hard to say look at this amazing diet i am loosing weight whilst eating fat whilst i am still fat! I dont see my lot very often so its not a biggie.

I havent really got my head in the game at the mo and i am struggling. My lovely mum made me some soup to help make me better and i ate it with toast (cut into triangles like she used to when i was little and poorly!). It was parsnip and carrot so very carby! Arrggh. Now i am starving and starting back at square one again.

Hoping when i get better and things get more settled i can be back to being strict.

Off to the estate agents to see about doing an open house to limit the amount of housework i need to do before viewings!

I havent weighed today - hubby packed away the wii and i have no idea how to set it up. Prob wouldnt be good news anyway. Hope everyone had a good weekend and is losing. SBC!!!!

ProfYaffle · 23/03/2015 09:53

"Also i find it hard to say look at this amazing diet i am loosing weight whilst eating fat whilst i am still fat!" YYY, this with knobs on! PIL are life long low fatters and, tbf, it's served them well. They've never struggled with their weight and are both skinny as anything. I can't really be the fat bird in the corner telling them it's fine to eat butter!

I said to dh it'll be easier in 6 months time when I'm significantly lighter, then I can speak from a position of clear success. But til then ......

Don't be hard on yourself, you've had a tough time lately MrsS, at least it was soup and bread not donuts and vodka Grin I read on the Atkins forum that once your body is used to ketosis it's easy to slip back into it, it's not like starting from scratch and doing the whole keto flu thing again.

Mrsstevejones · 23/03/2015 10:53

My family are all low fatters as well and i have the same plan as you - to go ta da whilst tucking into bacon!

Hopefully no carb flu but i am starving today and a bit disappointed in myself - will do some bacon with mayo in a mo that will sort me out. Just need to clear this elephant that is sitting on my chest!

Just seen the photos the agent took and omg my house looks great - should def sell in no time - fingers crossed. Will be doing an open house next week, wishing to the stars for loads of interest.

Gran has cat scan thurs so will give a clear idea of things then so fingers crossed for that as well.

SBC everyone x

LetMeBeLight · 23/03/2015 15:07

Afternoon everyone. I had a busy (but productive) weekend. Very much looking forward to having an early night in my own bed tonight!

I've been fairly good food wise, if anything I've not eaten enough. Missed a couple of meals due to lack of time. As it stands I've not eaten since 11am yesterday and now won't be having anything til I get in tonight.

I'm in two minds whether to cook something healthy but filling or going for the easy takeaway option - we'll see!

Took the dog somewhere different today and walked further than usual (just under 6 miles). Won't be shredding this evening. But looking forward to getting back into the routine from tomorrow.

Will catch up with all your posts this evening, assuming I don't fall asleep the minute I sit down (likely).

Macloveswill · 23/03/2015 18:26

Prof and Mrs....I am also in the camp where it's difficult to extol the virtues of fat when I still look rather, well fat, myself!! Grin it will get much easier when we've shrunk a bit. People are so opinionated about food too aren't they?! Watch their jaws drop when we're all in our size 10s and 12s this Christmas! Maybe keep quiet and just subtly leave the carbs for now though.

Letme, you'll be wasting away, bless you! I'd be passing out if I hadn't eaten since yesterday! You deserve something delicious.

I've triggered my allergies whilst sorting through all the clothes I've not touched in years. The dust is incredible! Two whole wardrobes bursting with stuff I can't fit into. I found the odd thing that fits that I'd forgotten about too and my Ebay pile of size 22s and 20s is growing and will be even bigger after my holiday. Sneezy and wheezy even after taking a piriton, so won't be walking tonight. I am booked into body balance and will do my swim tomorrow though.

In my ideal world I wouldn't see the in laws for the remainder of 2015. Then I could emerge, butterfly like, in all my low carb glory. I would dearly love to do that. However, dh thinks that's a tad extreme Wink

Trouble is they live about an hour's drive away so not on the doorstep but not too far away. Dh thinks we have to stay over every time we visit so it's a whole weekend.

There's no getting away from the food issue and limited opportunity to just leave the carbs. eg a typical Saturday night meal would be pizza, garlic bread and jacket spud.

This visit is for a specific occasion so I've agreed to staying over plus we're going out for our main meal which makes things a bit easier. But after this visit I've told him he can stay over if he wants but I won't be going with him. In a way, if pil are awkward about food this visit it'll make life easier in the long term as dh will think I'm justified in not going.

Mrsstevejones · 23/03/2015 20:13

I have never understood why some people get so interested in what others do or dont eat - if someone wanted to live on nutella sarnies i wouldnt be bothered or feel it was my place to educate them. However when someone starts on the benefits of low fat aka SW etc i do have to bite my tongue as i want to tell them they dont have to be miserable and hungry, they can eat nice food!!! Lol.

On the food front i only have my PILs here now so that i can cook, i explained to my hubby that DFIL is too poorly to look after us all and that then i can cook to save them putting themselves out (not so i only have to eat LC food or anything, honest :) ).

The last time i stayed at my parents i told them i was trying to loose my baby weight and i brought ALL my food with me in a cool box - a tad extreme yes but i had a size 20 dress to fit into for my brothers wedding in 6 weeks - no one said a word. The worse bit was my gran still had to let the bloody dress out so it fit!

I am officially on a cleaning mission, first viewing booked for friday!!! I must clean my oven uurrgghh.

Well done on the ebay piles, i need to do that tomorrow as part of the cleaning mission. Good luck with the exercise, i must get back to that as well!

ProfYaffle · 24/03/2015 06:59

There's the other complication - Mil has to be in control of all the food. She won't eat here, just refuses to come. If I bring food with me to their house she gets angry and offended (even when I've brought nice stuff like chocolates and wine which I thought was being a good guest Confused) She rarely agrees to eat out (last cafe visit we had with them she banged down the menu on the table and spat "We should never have come!" because a scone cost £3.)

The only reason I'm going this time is that we're eating out for our main meal which means I can work it so we only have breakfast and lunch at their house. Dh will cook an omlette for breakfast and I'm going to pack my own food for lunch. I'm still fully expecting WW3 though.
