I'm starting (again) after 10 years of being miserable and overweight, in that time I have been up and down like a yoyo but never actually getting anywhere. It's the same 1-2 stone that goes on and off all the time.

I need to initially lose 4st 4lb which will take me to 14st (yes I am over 18stSad) I know 14st still sounds massive to loads but I'm just under 6ft and it's the weight I always remember feeling my most comfortable at years ago so thought that would be a good goal to start with.

I will admit to being an absolute pig, I can happily eat all day and even though I am actually clued up on healthy eating my brain seems to think the fattening food doesn't count if I eat it in private Hmm

I'm 110% determined this time, I could probably have most of the weight of by summer and actually be a new happier person for the first time in years so this is my motivation. That and the fact that I would not go on a ride at a local theme park last week or go in the souvenir photo because of what I look like and I was worried the bar would not close, I'm letting my dc down Sad

I've joined ww online which I know works for me as long as I stick to it so here goes. Anyone else have the same to lose? Seems to be so many around here needing to lose 1-2 stone which obviously seems loads to them but it's a drop in the ocean compared to what I need to lose.

I have a brilliant goal though - we're spending next Christmas in Mexico and I want to be beach-ready (not quite bikini ready) at 11st, which looks good on me (it's the last time I wasn't officially overweight, having been obese now for years). There are some on the way goals too - a family wedding at the end of March (aiming to be 14st 7lbs for that - and to fit into some nice dresses) and a trip to Sweden to see an old friend in June. I'd love to be somewhere around 13st for that - she will have a total shock I hope!

Wow lessons! You are doing really well. I am exercising and using mfp too. I'm after a Fitbit for my birthday. I am impressed you can stick to 1400 calories, do you get hungry?

Please may I join you? I'd like to lose at least 3 stone. I currently weigh 15 stone 4 (I'm 5 foot 9). I got down to 13 stone this summer but then we had major money stresses and I stuffed myself for months to ease anxiety. Started Weight loss challenge last week - I'm doing WW online (thinking of going to meetings too for the extra encouragement). I'm trying to exercise most days with brisk walking / short bursts of running. If I could lose a pound a weeks and be down to 12 stone ish for Chistmas I'd be so happy : It would be the first time I'd be in a healthy weight range for more than 10 years.

Can I come and join you please, I started off at 17st 9lb at the beginning of January bag have given up sugar since then and am down to 16st 13 so not a huge loss but haven't really been controlling what I eat savoury wise Shock
So I'm thinking of joining weight watchers along with being sugar free? Does anyone on it already think that would be possible?
I'm just fed up of being fat now, I want to be healthy and able to do stuff which I am too embarrassed to do now being my size!

Hello Crankycarp and Goldensunnydays.

Crankycarp - I so understand eating through the stress. I've noticed my cravings go through the roof even when it's just the DC squabbling. I hope your worries are behind you now.

Goldensunnydays that is a fantastic weight loss! 10lbs! I'm not sure about WW, i did try it but a while ago. I'm going down the my fitness pal (mfp) route, plus upping exercises. Chocolate is my downfall, but I haven't had any today. You make it sound like it was easy to cut out sugar but I can't imagine it was! Are you missing sweet stuff still?

I'm going to try and make it to the scales tomorrow (no scales in house, use ones at leisure centre). Will report back as long as I'm not too depressed.

Hello, just recently joined Mumsnet and saw this thread. I'd like to lose 4 stones but I've broken it down into mini goals each stone.

I joined ww again in January. My first goal/stone is aimed at 7th March when I'm taking hubby to Rome for his birthday. I lost 10.5lbs in the first month, then put 2lbs on at my next meeting (I'm sure was due to coming on that day) I couldn't go to the meeting this week, but it looks to be gone again and I've been good. I've been cooking a lot of ww meals that I've not tried before, and walking the dogs more and getting back on my horse, who will appreciate less of me, I'm sure. Two more weeks to my first deadline!
