Anyone need to lose over 4st and want to befriend me?

I'm starting (again) after 10 years of being miserable and overweight, in that time I have been up and down like a yoyo but never actually getting anywhere. It's the same 1-2 stone that goes on and off all the time.

I need to initially lose 4st 4lb which will take me to 14st (yes I am over 18stSad) I know 14st still sounds massive to loads but I'm just under 6ft and it's the weight I always remember feeling my most comfortable at years ago so thought that would be a good goal to start with.

I will admit to being an absolute pig, I can happily eat all day and even though I am actually clued up on healthy eating my brain seems to think the fattening food doesn't count if I eat it in private Hmm

I'm 110% determined this time, I could probably have most of the weight of by summer and actually be a new happier person for the first time in years so this is my motivation. That and the fact that I would not go on a ride at a local theme park last week or go in the souvenir photo because of what I look like and I was worried the bar would not close, I'm letting my dc down Sad

I've joined ww online which I know works for me as long as I stick to it so here goes. Anyone else have the same to lose? Seems to be so many around here needing to lose 1-2 stone which obviously seems loads to them but it's a drop in the ocean compared to what I need to lose.

No, Slimming world. I did try SW but didn't work for me, I could eat too much!

DoItTooJulia · 16/01/2015 07:22

Bbc, should be on the iplayer.

I wore a pair of trousers to work yesterday that I haven't been able to get in for nearly 5 years!

FullOfChoc · 16/01/2015 14:55

Well, I faced the scales last night. 8lbs heavier than when I weighed before Christmas.

And I've been doing so much exercise! I think I'm overcompensating for the calories burnt with chocolate so I've removed it from the shopping list and I'm going to put my calorie goal down on myfitnesspal.

Will weigh again next week and hope for better news.

Notstayingup · 16/01/2015 20:13

I'm joining you, I have just under 4 stone to loose, I am starting WW online tomorrow. Am struggling with motivation since he having an operation and have just sat and eaten for the last 6 weeks. Summer is coming and we'll be ready for it!!

FullOfChoc · 16/01/2015 21:32

Thanks doittoojulia, I'm going to watch it while I' cooking tea!

Welcome notstayingup, absolutely - new wardrobes for summer (smaller sizes!).

RedButtonhole · 17/01/2015 17:50

Can I please join you all? I have 5-6 stone to lose, and would like nearly half of it off for summer (bit ambitious). I am 16 stone atm and 5"2. Can't afford WW or anything so will probably use MFP. I have put on the 2 stone I had lost for last summer so back to square one. Going to start on Monday.

FullOfChoc · 18/01/2015 20:18

Good luck for tomorrow Red Button Hole and welcome. I'm using MFP and trying to exercise too.

ProfYaffle · 19/01/2015 09:28

Just weighed myself this morning and I've lost a total of 8lbs over 2 weeks! Can't quite believe it, after starting and failing on so many other diets I'd given up on the idea that I could ever lose weight effectively. I'm so relieved that something is actually working for me.

Now how to tackle a weekend away at MIL's carb central house ......

ProfYaffle · 19/01/2015 09:30

Redbuttonhole I'm using MFP too, you can set it up for calories or carb counting. One good thing about Atkins is that all the resources you need are free online at uk.atkins.com and there are loads of low carb recipe blogs online too. I've literally not spent a penny on resources.

thoughtsbecomethings · 19/01/2015 09:35

Very interested as have lots to lose.
Need to go to work now. Check in later. Really interested in ww online.

Trufflethewuffle · 19/01/2015 09:43

Weighed myself at 15 stone this morning. Aiming to get back down to 10. It has taken a long time to go on (12 years) so I don't expect it to come off quickly but it is going to!

Doing my own version of 5:2 to start with and see how it goes.

Good luck everyone.

FullOfChoc · 19/01/2015 14:50

That's great prof Yaffle!

Welcome Thoughtsbecomethings and Trufflethewuffle.

FullOfChoc · 23/01/2015 21:54

Made it to another Friday! How's everyone getting on?

I haven't weighed again yet. I've been recording faithfully on MFP, so I'm hoping for good news when I do make it to the scales (no scales in the house so I have to go to the local leisure centre).

RedButtonhole · 24/01/2015 11:23

Hi everyone, well done on your losses! I've done a bit of a crash diet this week and halfway through had lost 7lbs (caved and weighed myself). I have given up on it though as it was horrible and I was boaking at having to eat dry toast.

I'm just going to try lean eating from today on- lots of simple meals with as few carbs as possible and lean meat like chicken or fish for protein.

FullOfChoc · 25/01/2015 21:14

Have a good week Redbuttonhole and all.

Ive slipped a bit today (wine related) but have done plenty of exercise this week. Also, Have kept up the tracking on MFP.

FullOfChoc · 01/02/2015 16:53

Just weighed in, 2 weeks after initial weigh in, 3lbs off.

At least it's the right direction but boy I've had to work so hard for that 3lbs! I'm exercising daily and have been mfp tracking. Got to crack my snacking and sugar addiction to really get things moving.

florentina1 · 01/02/2015 18:14

Don't be hard on yourself for losing 3lbs. Probably on the past you would have gained weight every month. .Now you have not only stopped gaining, but have managed to lose as well. That seems to me like a double achievement.

Don't lose heart, we are all here with you.

FullOfChoc · 01/02/2015 20:43

Thanks florentina1!

I'm going to keep going for sure. If I lost a 1 1/2 a week I'd be a stone lighter in 2 months which is not too bad. That also could be two or three dress sizes smaller by June, which would be very nice indeed!

ProfYaffle · 02/02/2015 07:37

3lbs in a fortnight is a good average loss Choc, we just have to koko.

I've now lost 11lbs since 5th January and I'm thrilled to bits. The best bit is I'm loving the low carb food and definitely in no hurry to go back to 'normal' eating.

heather1 · 02/02/2015 07:49

Hi, I have about 4 stone to lose. Weighed myself this morning and I am 14,8.
I want to be 11 st as an initial target. Gosh I tried so many things over the 7 years since Ds2 born and my weight just keeps going up and up. So I have decided 2015 is the year I sort it out properly.
I want to set a better example for my dc. Dh is overweight too. I just eat too much, when I'm happy, sad, tired, bored. You name it.
I'm going to to relaxation, slimmables website and exercise.
Thanks for letting me join.

FullOfChoc · 02/02/2015 14:50

Thanks Prof, I'm feeling more positive this morning. I can do it!

11lbs is great going! You must be a dress size smaller at least?

Heather1, me too! I eat to celebrate, commiserate, when bored, when tired, because it's a day ending in y... It's got to stop or I'll end up unable to move!

So, a 1lb at a time! We'll do it!

ProfYaffle · 02/02/2015 14:56

Probably, though my clothes were feeling too tight after Christmas and now I'm struggling to keep my jeans up. Lucky I have a stash of clothes in various sizes

hyperhops · 07/02/2015 11:48

can I join you all
I am 14 st 10lb and only 5 foot 3! I would like to get down to around 10 stone I have done it before - got down to 9 1/2 stone a few years ago using ww online and also built up my fitness with running and ran a half marathon. I felt great. Not sure what happened then...just lost motivation and it has all crept back on.
Have rejoined ww and have been to gym twice this week and just been for (very slow) 3 mile run.
Really hoping I can stick with it this time.Grin

FullOfChoc · 08/02/2015 20:05

Hello Hyperhops.

A 3 mile run doesn't sound like you've let it all go completely! I am running too and managed 3 km without stopping today (also very slowly - dog walkers overtake me!). I'm a size 20/22 and I must look a sight running, but I'm quite enjoying it.

I'm planning to weigh in this week so fingers crossed the running has helped.

lessonsintightropes · 09/02/2015 19:23

Hello, can I join in too? I'm 5'8" and started the year at 16st 2lbs. I'm now 15st 1lb and a size 18 - 20 (down from what I shudder to think was probably closer to 22 - 24 at the start of the year) - doing a combination of Dry January, getting a fitbit and doing 10,000 steps plus a day, and tracking everything I eat with MyFitnessPal. I hate those diets with some things you can't eat, so Atkins wouldn't work for me - I'm trying to eat cleaner and at least 5 days per week eat around 1400 calories (and not splurging hugely on the other days). I'm 37 and ttc #1 - we've been trying for over a year and it finally hit me over Christmas that trying to do something about my weight and fitness might actually help. I'm also restarting running using the couch 2 5k app which I've used before and it's the one sort of exercise I actually enjoy.
