I'm starting (again) after 10 years of being miserable and overweight, in that time I have been up and down like a yoyo but never actually getting anywhere. It's the same 1-2 stone that goes on and off all the time.

I need to initially lose 4st 4lb which will take me to 14st (yes I am over 18stSad) I know 14st still sounds massive to loads but I'm just under 6ft and it's the weight I always remember feeling my most comfortable at years ago so thought that would be a good goal to start with.

I will admit to being an absolute pig, I can happily eat all day and even though I am actually clued up on healthy eating my brain seems to think the fattening food doesn't count if I eat it in private Hmm

I'm 110% determined this time, I could probably have most of the weight of by summer and actually be a new happier person for the first time in years so this is my motivation. That and the fact that I would not go on a ride at a local theme park last week or go in the souvenir photo because of what I look like and I was worried the bar would not close, I'm letting my dc down Sad

I've joined ww online which I know works for me as long as I stick to it so here goes. Anyone else have the same to lose? Seems to be so many around here needing to lose 1-2 stone which obviously seems loads to them but it's a drop in the ocean compared to what I need to lose.

Whitesplodge, yesterday's dinner was left over from the night before. I treated myself to an airfryer in the sales and it's amazing, threw in my mushrooms, courgettes, onions, peppers, chillis and chopped up chicken breast for about ten mins and made some couscous with just boiling water then mixed it and poured a little sweet chilli sauce over the top.

I'm really not a great good and more of a throw things together person rather than weighing everything.

I did my sweet potato chips in the airfryer last night as well while my salmon was in the oven.

Today I've had alpen and low fat yougurt for breakfast and a white muffin open with loads of salad and a boiled egg on top and a packet of wotsits so still only used 18 of my points.

I love the idea of sharing recipes though, because I do have a huge appetite I'm quite guilty of finding a few meals that satisfy me and using them over and over again.

Hi, im in too!

I started WW online last sat and I have 3 stone to lose. Im so miserable and being this much overweight is starting to effect many areas of my life.

Lets do it.

FullOfChoc · 07/01/2015 14:50

How's it all going today?

I have done some exercise, then eaten sweets and chocolate biscuit at work!

But, I have managed to put the breaks on to stop eating crap and have recorded everything on MyFitnessPal (mfp).

InanimateCarbonRod · 07/01/2015 14:59

Hi Ladies. Can I join too? I'm hypothyroid and really struggling to lose any weight. My specialist has said that I need to do LCHF and go completely sugar free and gluten free. Hmm FUN!!

So I'm aiming to lose 4 stone initially which will take me to 13ish stone. I have metabolic syndrome also as a result of the thyroid so exercise has to be about building muscle mostly with some gentle walking mixed in.

I don't know if I can see it's great to see so many in the same boat Grin but I sure am glad of the company!

FullOfChoc · 08/01/2015 14:35

That sounds lie hard work Inanimate! I imagine you will lose weight though.

What's LCHF?

whothehellknows · 08/01/2015 20:14

Stuck at work with nothing but fruit, so I have to be good until bedtime tomorrow at least... (Just as well, I was doing great yesterday and then slipped and rewarded myself with cookies.)

FullOfChoc · 08/01/2015 21:59

Enjoy the fruit Whothe!

Why do we "reward" ourselves with the very things that are making us so miserable? How can we stop? If we knew - we'd be slim!

whothehellknows · 08/01/2015 22:34

True story. And actually the fruit was quite nice.

InanimateCarbonRod · 09/01/2015 13:12

LCHF - Low carb, high fat. www.eatlowcarbhighfat.com/?page_id=12

I'm day three gluten free. Am working on this first before tackling sugar. I haven't felt any withdrawl or anything so I hope that it will be smooth sailing.

FullOfChoc · 09/01/2015 20:51

Inanimate - Day three, sounds like you are pretty motivated.

If I can stop eating now I'm just about within my calorie goal for the 2nd day. I have really been struggling to even do one day so I'm pleased. I have been doing loads of exercise, which adds to my calorie allowance. Fingers crossed it's still working. Got to face the scales soon.

They do say sugar is more addictive than cocaine! Be interested to hear how you get on with that.

Whothe - I have bought a pack of gala apples and they are truly delicious. Some how not as moreish as chocolate, but really tasty. Hope you are still enjoying the fruit!

FullOfChoc · 12/01/2015 19:51

How's everyone doing? I'm feeling motivated at last (day 3). Hope everyone else is still going!

ProfYaffle · 13/01/2015 09:35

I'm in too - for the long haul it seems! I'm doing Atkins, currently on induction and finding it surprisingly easy.

Inanimatecarbonrod you should have a peek at the uk.atkins.com boards, Atkins induction is basically lchf and there are one or two people on the boards with thyroid problems who have used the diet successfully.

smellyfishhead don't despair about the PF, I had it for a year and managed to finally clear it up a few months ago using a combination of gel heels, the right shoes and massage.

MalletsMallet · 13/01/2015 10:56

Hello Onamission

Last year I weighed nearly 20 stone Shock

I'd had enough of how I looked and joined slimming world in June. Since then I have lost 5 stone and half a pound Smile

I've found it quite easy to be honest, I think because I can eat a lot of carbs so feel full most of the time.

People started noticing my body changing when I had lost about 2st 7lbs but I was still wearing some of my old clothes when I had lost 4st. 2 weeks ago I replaced my work uniform (nurse tunic and trousers) as my old ones were literally hanging off of me. I ordered a size 18, (my old tunic was size 26) and it's roomy on me already!

I have hardly any clothes because I'm loathe to keep buying new ones that I'll slim out of.

I hope to reach my target in March but it's my 35th birthday at the end of Feb and I secretly hope to have lost another stone by then and go horse riding with my family. My target at the moment is 13st. It seems a lot but I am 5ft 9 and at 13 stone I look good. Not thin but slim. I think if I lost more than that I will probably have loose skin everywhere.

I feel like I've found a plan I'm going to stick to, and think the fact that I go to the meetings and get weighed really spur me on. In the past I've had some good successes dieting at home but always lost interest and put the weight back on.

I've made little changes in my life that I hope become habits, things such as taking the stairs, walking to the shops or if not possible parking as far away as I can then walking. We go out on long walks as a family and at the weekend I went mountain biking on a professional trail. It was the first time I'd been on a bike in over 10 years Shock

It's a nice feeling knowing that this time last year I wouldn't have even sat on my partners bike for fear of breaking it and now look at me.....whizzing through the woods on dirt trails !!

I hope you succeed and get where you want to be Smile

FullOfChoc · 13/01/2015 19:34

Prof - always lovely if something is easier than you think! HOw much do you want to lose?

Mallet - WOW! You have done well and your story has stopped me going to the chocolate tin. To feel that good has got to be better than that eating because I'm

FullOfChoc · 13/01/2015 19:35

whoops posted too soon, meant to say: because I'm feeling fed up.

Onamissionfor2015 · 13/01/2015 21:05

Hi everyone had a bit of bother getting into the app the last couple of days Hmm

How is everyone doing? I think I'm doing well, sticking to my points and lost 7lb at first weigh in Grin

Mallet thank you so much for sharing that, I get so disheartened by the amount of times I've failed and seen others fail that it's lovely to see that a big loss is possible. I can't wait to do things like fair rides and water slides with the kids without worrying about what I look like or being refused entry.

FullOfChoc · 13/01/2015 21:25

7lbs! Woo Hoo! Well done!

I've been doing lots of exercise but haven't dragged myself onto the scales yet.

ProfYaffle · 14/01/2015 06:35

FullofChoc 4 stone if I'm honest though it seems massively daunting. I find a little voice whispering that surely 2 would be enough? but I'm trying not to listen to it!

MalletsMallet · 14/01/2015 09:42

Thanks everyone for your comments, FullOfChoc I'm glad I could help!! I know what you mean about sugar, it makes you feel so good at the time but only leaves you craving more. I have managed to cut down on most sugar in my diet now and probably only eat it in any low fat food I buy (yoghurts etc) and in the occasional treat. Of course I am eating a lot of fruit so getting a lot of natural sugar there!

Onamission Since my daughter was born 12 years ago I have managed to lose 4 stone twice by doing the Atkins diet, then put it all back on (and then some). I lost a couple of stone about 3 years ago just by 'healthy eating' and cutting out bread and sugar but again put it all back on again.
This is the longest I have ever stuck to a diet and I feel different about it this time, like it's a new way of life for me not just a temporary fix. I'm convinced that going to the group every week keeps me in check and stops me straying.

18 months ago I went to Alton towers and wanted to go on one of the rides but it had a big harness that went over your head and I was convinced it wouldn't go over me. Outside the ride was a dummy seat where you could check you could fit. To my delight the harness went over my gut so I got in line. Once I got there and sat in my seat (next to a load of strangers) I realised the harness was different from the one I'd tried! It wouldn't do up! All the people waiting for the next ride could see me as I struggled to get it down low enough to fix the clasp between my legs Blush. It was mortifying but I managed to do it up by squeezing my breasts together and sort of poking them through the centre gap, just giving me enough space to get it in place. For the whole ride I was painfully aware that the harness had only just done up and I was convinced that it would pop open at any time. Especially as it was the ride that dangles you face first over a vertical track looking into a black hole!! When I got off I had a panic attack and needed to take beta blockers Blush
For the whole ride I was convinced I was going to die, not from the thrill of the ride but from the actual terror that my harness was about to open. You could say I was convinced I was going to die and that it would be as a result of my size Sad

I'm looking forward to going swimming in the summer with my DD, on water slides..the lot! That would have been impossible for me last summer Smile

FullOfChoc · 14/01/2015 19:53

Oh Mallet! Bloody Alton towers! It sounds like you won't need to worry about that again.

Roll on Summer!

ProfYaffle, I've got more than 4 stone to lose. The true amount is too awful to think about. I'm focusing on getting to the next stone down and also getting into the next size down jeans. Seize 22 jeans currently.

DoItTooJulia · 14/01/2015 21:26
