Anyone else just eating healthier/less and moving more?

I've tried every diet known to man (and done quite well on some- I was down 50 lbs before Christmas, though dreading seeing the damage an all inclusive holiday and Christmas has done!)

I've had enough of counting calories/points/syns or whatever. I'm fed up of following plans or drinking shakes. What I really want to do, after years of yo yo dieting, is to eat healthy stuff (not low fat stuff though) that excites me, in slightly smaller portions and do exercise that I enjoy. I want to cut down/out fizzy drinks (already cut these out), sugary foods, chocolate, processed stuff etc.

I not only want to lose weight, I want to lose it (and enjoy it whilst doing it) and maintain it. Yes it's a cliche, but I don't want to diet, I want a lifestyle change. I want to be able to go out to a restaurant for special occasions and not worry over how many syns/points etc the food will 'cost' me, but be able to enjoy it. I don't even know if this makes sense, but after spending so long on different plans, I'm so excited to just eat stuff that's not dictated to me, but stuff I think I should be eating.

I've just done a meal plan for next week, and an online food shop which has got me really excited to start (yes, I'm weird! Grin)

I still need to lose at least another 50 lbs. Does anyone want to join me?

Official Monday morning weigh in:
10 stone 6 lbs
The same as last week.
Am pleased with that though as I did have a couple of 'fat' days including a meal out for Mother's Day yesterday (which included treacle sponge & custard!).

How is everyone else doing?

MrsHooolie · 17/03/2015 14:27

Hello everyone. I've been off the radar for a few weeks,I fell off the wagon for various reasons. Feel a bit angry with myself having read everyone's successes!
We go on our first family holiday in July and I will feel like a whale if I don't shift a stone at least.
Anyway....Joined the gym yesterday and went for the first time today. I only went on the treadmill for half an hour but enjoyed it. I think I will focus on getting fit. Having an induction on Monday so I will be able to do some other stuff.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 19/03/2015 20:15

That all sounds really positive misshoolie. I'm just ticking along, eating fairly well despite a few chocolate 'episodes' and still running. no weight loss though but it will come I'm sure.

returned work this week and basking in the compliments about my loss so far. most frequent and favourite is the looking younger compliment.

yay Grin

MegCleary · 20/03/2015 13:40

Now I Am fairly sure I need new scales as it said 10 5 this morning and I feel huge. Keep plugging away gang

ButterflyOfFreedom · 21/03/2015 19:06

Well I've had a pretty bad week and feel huge! Sad
It's been quite a stressful few days and I've just hit the junk food (mainly chocolate and biscuits) big time!
I've still been logging everything on MFP but have been in the 'red' every day this week! Some days going over by 1000 calories!! Shock

My weigh day is Monday and I can see tomorrow being a 'fat' day too as we've got family visiting so we'll be having a big Sunday roast with dessert & wine.
Think I'll just write this week off diet wise and start afresh on Monday...

ButterflyOfFreedom · 23/03/2015 07:54

Well despite the bad week food (& drink) wise I have somehow managed to lose another pound!
So I'm now 10 stone 5 lbs Smile

How is everyone else getting on?

MrsHooolie · 23/03/2015 13:22

Well done Butterfly!
I have just had my gym induction. Bloody hell,he got me lifting massive weights and doing all sorts of stuff. It was hard!If I ache tomorrow I'll have to go swimming instead I think!

nevergooglebrandybutter · 23/03/2015 17:34

well done everyone. I've no idea how I'm doing but sticking to healthy eating and exercise. haven't had time to get on the scales in the morning.

hopefully I'll see some results soon.

MegCleary · 27/03/2015 07:50

10 stone 4 yay I have lost 1 stone 4 lbs in 11 weeks and holiday in Portugal tomorrow. Eating right and exercise when back I have found the support here great thanks and keep going.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 27/03/2015 22:32

wow meg that's really impressive. have a great holiday.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 30/03/2015 08:45

I've found the support here helpful too. I think as I report my weekly weight-in it's a good motivator to stay on track!

Today's weight is 10 stone 4 lbs.

Another 1 lb lost; 21 lbs overall (since new year).

Smile
nevergooglebrandybutter · 12/04/2015 10:59

Lost the thread, sorry.

I'm now able to run 10k! Grin

Yay, weight still the same though.Hmm

BabyGanoush · 12/04/2015 11:04

Bet you it's more muscle and less fat now, though!

10k

Wow

nevergooglebrandybutter · 12/04/2015 11:09

I can now see muscle in my legs. my knees are much less wobbly. so you're probably right.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 12/04/2015 11:10

I think its time to do something with my tummy muscles now. amix of Pilate's and crunches I think should do it.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 12/04/2015 13:40

Feeling in a funny place with it all to be honest. At 11st 8lbs and only 5'3" tall I know I am still very overweight but friends all saying how slim I am and calling me skinny-minny. So if I don't feel it, are they just being too kind or what is going on? maybe they just mean compared to before? or maybe my perception of me hasn't caught up?

I still see a woman with a fat belly.Sad

stardusty5 · 12/04/2015 22:03

I know what you mean, Never. At my lightest i was two stone lighter than i am now, but i didn't actually feel any slimmer, and i still felt crap about my thighs and arms. I wasn't particularly fot though so i won't have had any muscle tone to hold my shape well.

Congratulations on your weight loss. I am trying a more gentle style of weightloss at the moment. Having tried low carb, which i enjoyed butfound a bit antisocial, i am hoping to now select foods which are nutritious as opposed to low cal, low carb, low whatever.
My plan this week is to have fruit and organic yoghurt for breakfast, vegetable soup for lunch and then a 'normal' tea, albeit with a smaller portion.

I will also try to replace my usual post-work fridge raid with a walk

Here goes....

ButterflyOfFreedom · 19/04/2015 20:31

Not been on here for a while but I'm still on with the whole weight loss thing!
It's my wedding anniversary in 3 weeks and my goal was to get to 10 stone by then - official weigh in tomorrow but last time I was 10 stone 4 lbs so I'm hoping I'm down to 10.3 then can lose a lb a week to hit my target (fingers crossed! ).

Saying that I did eat pizza & treacle sponge yesterday. ... Shock

Zeldie · 20/04/2015 07:36

You don't need to cut your food instead all you need to do is avoid foods that are processed and junk. Eating healthy foods doesn't mean you need to avoid delicious foods. Just don't forget to exercise regularly both aerobic and weight training is essential for losing weight. Drink lots of water, green tea with lemon is also very effective in losing weight.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 20/04/2015 09:33

Yep, hit my goal of another 1 lb loss! Smile
3 lbs to go and I'll be happy (happier)!

How is everyone else getting on?

MegCleary · 01/05/2015 17:21

Checking back in. Holiday was amazing & put on 4 lbs in a week. So in the last few weeks I lost that and seemed stuck at 10 4. Monday morning I was 10 3 so motivated me for a really sensible week. About 1000 calories a day three meals no snacks & not hungry. Exercise was rowing 6k a day. Today's weight 10 stone!!! Woo hoo so chuffed. Have lost 1 St 8 lbs since the 9th jan.
Was with all my family on holiday And they were so complimentary and sweet to dh and I.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 03/05/2015 22:27

ah found you!

a nasty tummy bug since Friday night is seeing off a few pounds. not pretty.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 04/05/2015 07:21

11st 4lbs. ooh 11 is just within reach! I'd love to start work on a shiny new ten.Smile

ButterflyOfFreedom · 04/05/2015 12:01

Wow, congrats! Sounds like some good weight loss is happening, great to hear & very motivational!

I weighed in today at 10 stone!! Woo hoo!!! That's my target reached with a week to spare!

So I've gone from 11 stone 11 lbs at the start of the year to 10 stone 4/5 months later!
Very pleased with myself Smile

Maybe I'll treat myself to a celebratory ice-cream later... Wink

nevergooglebrandybutter · 04/05/2015 18:19

looking back to the start of this thread it looks as though I'm a stone lighter since january. it has felt very slow but still going in the right direction. 66lbs gone since pregnancy weight march 2014.Grin
