Anyone else just eating healthier/less and moving more?

I've tried every diet known to man (and done quite well on some- I was down 50 lbs before Christmas, though dreading seeing the damage an all inclusive holiday and Christmas has done!)

I've had enough of counting calories/points/syns or whatever. I'm fed up of following plans or drinking shakes. What I really want to do, after years of yo yo dieting, is to eat healthy stuff (not low fat stuff though) that excites me, in slightly smaller portions and do exercise that I enjoy. I want to cut down/out fizzy drinks (already cut these out), sugary foods, chocolate, processed stuff etc.

I not only want to lose weight, I want to lose it (and enjoy it whilst doing it) and maintain it. Yes it's a cliche, but I don't want to diet, I want a lifestyle change. I want to be able to go out to a restaurant for special occasions and not worry over how many syns/points etc the food will 'cost' me, but be able to enjoy it. I don't even know if this makes sense, but after spending so long on different plans, I'm so excited to just eat stuff that's not dictated to me, but stuff I think I should be eating.

I've just done a meal plan for next week, and an online food shop which has got me really excited to start (yes, I'm weird! Grin)

I still need to lose at least another 50 lbs. Does anyone want to join me?

nevergoogle completely agree wih long term goals being intimidating. I've lost over 7 stone but could only do this by breaking it down into smaller goals, lose 1 lb, get down to the next stone bracket, etc etc. Otherwise it becomes such a big amount it seems impossible.

Good to see everyone is doing eggselently with the eggs Wink

Happy Birthday happy

We had DDs party over the week end. I organised it and ran it all myself and was so impossibly nervous. I'm so glad it's over but had alot of positive comments from parents. I put alot of effort in beforehand on the basis that if the party went terrribly at least I'd get bonus points for effort Blush . Shattered today though, I need a day to recover!

ButterflyOfFreedom · 23/02/2015 08:55

Weigh day!
10 stone 11 lbs

That's another 2 lbs off! Smile

Am pleased with that. Have been aiming for losing 1 lb a week so 2 is a nice bonus!
Just need to keep it up - can't wait for when the scales say 10 stone lbs!! Smile

Sounds like everyone else is doing great too, aren't we good?!!

And happy birthday happy!! Smile

AimlesslyPurposeful · 23/02/2015 13:22

Flowers HAPPY BIRTHDAY HAPPY! Flowers

Well done on the weight losses all. Smile

Feeling like a big fat failure here. 10st 4lbs. I'm not eating that much but I'm not doing anything very energetic. I'm doing lots of sitting down and my main form of exercise is walking from the sitting room to the kitchen to make a cup of tea.

Had hoped to be nearer the 9st 7lbs mark for my birthday on Thursday but I'm nearly a stone off target! I'm very cross with me.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 26/02/2015 16:54

Payday finally. Have bought smaller knickers, smaller trousers and unfortunately smaller bras.

Goodbye DD's, hello B!

anya79 · 26/02/2015 17:03

I went on reduced calories to 1200 a day but stick to my ethnic home cooking. ive always been on wholemeal bread but had to swap to brown rice which was tough but after 1month i now think white ricw tastes crap. I also stopped butter use but if i want it badky, dont deny myself. I lose 2-3kg every week lost 8 kgs so far another 10and im done. No exercise yet but i walk 3 miles everday school pick up with a buggy.i have an arthritic condition but i will be on home gym soon ill have to suck up the pain.

I believe a big part is diet and exercise combined will speed things up.

MegCleary · 27/02/2015 08:26

Gone up a pound but to motivate myself I have lost 10 lbs in seven weeks yay.

Have decided the weight gain is muscle from rowing Wink

nevergooglebrandybutter · 27/02/2015 09:14

well done. 10 lbs is good going in that time.

I've noticed that rather than record a weekly weight which annoys me when it goes up, I just record the date that I reach the next pound lost. so sometimes it takes a bit longer and sometimes not.

lowcrabdiet · 01/03/2015 19:58

Hi everyone, sorry for going MIA. I dropped my phone in the toilet water And have also had an ear infection not from putting the toilet phone to my ear I promise which has caused me hellish dizzy spells so I haven't been online much.

How is everyone doing? I haven't been great with eating or exercise but I'm only 2lbs up in my 1stn loss, so ive not been going overboard.

I'm hoping that once my ears clear up I can start exercising again and in turn that will help keep me focussed on better eating habits.

It's lovely to see you all again though Smile

nevergooglebrandybutter · 01/03/2015 21:33

Grin toilet phone.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 02/03/2015 14:11

No weight loss this week but clutching at straws for progress I retook some body measurements.

2 cm loss from neck
10 cm loss from waist
8 cm loss from hips.

Since 1st January. Explains the need for new trousers!

I possibly should be looking at body composition at the moment as weight loss is very slow, but with the running I wonder how much I'm gaining in muscle.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 02/03/2015 20:13

Wow, well done never, that's a lot of cm lost! You should be proud of yourself!

I weighed in today at 10 stone 8 lbs - finally got to see a 10 stone on the scales!!
That's a 3 lbs loss from last week too so am well chuffed!
So much so I allowed myself a treat of crisps & biscuits earlier. .. ahem... :-/

MegCleary · 06/03/2015 12:19

10st 9. Yay. May need new scales though as first thing it was 10st 7 and I thought that was a bit too good to be true! So weight is an average of three.

While weight loss is great I am rowing 3k a night and feeling fitter.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 07/03/2015 15:21

11stone 9 Smile

nevergooglebrandybutter · 07/03/2015 16:50

lovely fresh single digits on the lbs.

it's the little things.Grin

ButterflyOfFreedom · 08/03/2015 17:10

Well done never! I loved it when my scales said 10 . 8 - never known a single digit to make me smile so much!! Grin

Today has been a bad day food wise though - I've indulged in chocolate biscuits, dark chocolate, DS' s milk chocolate coins (he doesn't know! ), Cadbury brunch bar, and a 100g bag of crisps!!!Shock

I doubt I'll be seeing that single number 8 on the scales tomorrow Sad

nevergooglebrandybutter · 08/03/2015 19:06

I reckon as those days are not every day like before its not worth worrying about.

I had a great run today. 8k. really feeling it this evening though.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 08/03/2015 21:33

I know, I do have the occasional bad food day but just see it as a little blip. I know overall I'm still eating less and healthier than I was 6 months ago.

Well done on your run, very impressive! I really need to start exercising more. I think I'll take DD out in the pram tomorrow for a long walk (weather permitting). Always feel better for it.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 09/03/2015 07:27

Ok so despite the bad food day yesterday involving chocolate & crisps, I have actually lost another 2 lbs this week! Smile
So I'm now 10 stone 6 lbs.

My original target weight was 10 stone 7 lbs (my pre pregnancy weight) but ideally I'd like to be 10 stone so I'm going to continue to work towards that.

And although I'm pleased with the weight loss, I still have the (very) wobbly tummy which sometimes makes me look 6 months pregnant again! I guess toning is the key - anyone got any tips?

And how's everyone else getting on?

nevergooglebrandybutter · 09/03/2015 10:54

wow well done! that's brilliant. your body was telling you to eat more as 2lbs is enough for a week!

i'm thinking pilates and swimming will help with tummy toning and I know I should be starting now but I'm thinking i will start the tummy work once the extra weight is gone. or maybe i'm just procrastinating and i should start with you.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 10/03/2015 14:41

11 stone 8!

Goal achieved with 5 days to spare. right next goal is 11 stone by 1st May.

ButterflyOfFreedom · 10/03/2015 14:45

Wow, well done never!
I reckon you can lose those 8lbs by 1st May - good luck!

My aim is to get to 10 stone by my wedding anniversary (mid May) so here's fingers crossed for us both!! Smile

nevergooglebrandybutter · 10/03/2015 17:45

i wonder how we're doing compared to any of the specific diet threads
( not that I'm at all competitiveWink )

nevergooglebrandybutter · 10/03/2015 17:47

my biggest hurdle this coming month is the return to work so not quite as in control of my own day and routine as I have been and lots more temptation. going to overcome all that with new strategies though.

MegCleary · 13/03/2015 07:28

Keep going everyone, weekly weigh in done. 10st 7 yay lost a stone in 9 weeks

ButterflyOfFreedom · 13/03/2015 10:04

That's good going Meg, well done!

I had a terrible day food wise on Wednesday - lunch out (where there was nothing healthy on the menu) then I proceeded to eat a whole 120g bag of Mars Mix Ups!!! Shock
According to MFP I was about 1000 calories over!!! Shock Shock

Anyway I was back on track yesterday and intend to stay that way today & tomorrow.
With Sunday being Mother's Day I might allow myself a treat then...
