I've tried every diet known to man (and done quite well on some- I was down 50 lbs before Christmas, though dreading seeing the damage an all inclusive holiday and Christmas has done!)

I've had enough of counting calories/points/syns or whatever. I'm fed up of following plans or drinking shakes. What I really want to do, after years of yo yo dieting, is to eat healthy stuff (not low fat stuff though) that excites me, in slightly smaller portions and do exercise that I enjoy. I want to cut down/out fizzy drinks (already cut these out), sugary foods, chocolate, processed stuff etc.

I not only want to lose weight, I want to lose it (and enjoy it whilst doing it) and maintain it. Yes it's a cliche, but I don't want to diet, I want a lifestyle change. I want to be able to go out to a restaurant for special occasions and not worry over how many syns/points etc the food will 'cost' me, but be able to enjoy it. I don't even know if this makes sense, but after spending so long on different plans, I'm so excited to just eat stuff that's not dictated to me, but stuff I think I should be eating.

I've just done a meal plan for next week, and an online food shop which has got me really excited to start (yes, I'm weird! Grin)

I still need to lose at least another 50 lbs. Does anyone want to join me?

Welcome wigglykitten
What a great weight loss you've had so far!

nevergooglebrandybutter · 04/02/2015 21:30

wow, wiggly, that's great.

lowcrabdiet · 04/02/2015 22:47

Hi Wiggley I've found your post really inspirational!

I've been having a bit of a struggle today, but you have made be put things back in perspective and get a grip on myself. Thank you Flowers

ButterflyOfFreedom · 05/02/2015 07:29

Welcome wiggly! Smile
Wow your weight loss so far has been amazing!!
Inspirational indeed!
After my rubbish few days I was good yesterday and am back on it!

nevergooglebrandybutter · 05/02/2015 11:19

still no sign of an 11 on my scales. can you do some sort of collective wishing for an 11 for me to see tomorrow morning. I would appreciate that.

or I maybe need to take responsibility for the calories I've eaten on my running days.

grr, I hate responsibility.

Silverjohnleggedit · 05/02/2015 15:41

Welcome Wiggly - excellent progress so far, well done.

Nevergoogle sending elevens your way!

I have got back to my pre - blow out at the weekend weight and I'm heading out tonight for another Indian with a group of mates. Plan is to talk loads - so less time for eating Grin put everything on my plate that I plan to eat and not dive in for seconds. I have only had soup with ham hock and greek yoghurt, so hopefully I can't do too much damage!!

30somethingm · 05/02/2015 15:42

Keep up the good work you dieters/exercisers

AimlesslyPurposeful · 05/02/2015 16:11

Sounds like you're all doing well! Smile

Wiggly - 24lbs off is fab!

NeverGoogle - Keeping fingers crossed for you that that 11 pops up soon! Could you have a really early night? I don't know about anyone else but if I get a good nights sleep the scales seem to be kinder. Anyone else find that?

Silver - Don't know if this is of any interest to you but I remember from my WeightWatchers days that they recommended a chicken shashlik (Sp?) if you were eating at an Indian restaurant. I've had that in the past a few times and it's lovely - chicken served with chunks of onion and peppers. Naan breads were a big no-no as they can have over 1000 cals each if I remember rightly. They advised you had a few popadoms instead and to start with a shish kebab as it comes with salad to help fill you up.

Well, I'm down to 9st 11lbs today but as I said previously, it's not down to willpower. Quite the opposite really as I'm having quite a bit of chocolate/sweet rubbish, but not a lot else.

Yesterday I had two McVities fruity chocolate muesli bar things, three slices of Danish bread toasted and three bacon medallions and some liquorice.

Today I've had a slice of toast and think I might have some soup or scrambled eggs later.

AimlesslyPurposeful · 05/02/2015 16:16

Naan bread has over 1000cals* - Scratch that! Just Googled that as it seemed a bit high and it's not that much. However, a Kasmiri naan has an average of 500cals so still high.

Anyway, hope you have a nice time Silver. Smile

Silverjohnleggedit · 05/02/2015 16:53

Thanks aimlessly that's really helpful. How's your colitis - calmed down any?

AimlesslyPurposeful · 05/02/2015 17:09

Yes, a bit better Silver, thank you. Just eating "gently" and avoiding known triggers. I think it was the skinny curry I linked to previously that did it - I was on the verge of a flare up as I'd had a couple of bad nights and it was just too veg heavy really at that point.

It is lovely though and I thoroughly recommend it as it's really low cal but very filling.

lowcrabdiet · 05/02/2015 19:54

So pleased you are feeling better Aimlessly

Silverjohn shaslics are lovely. They were my favourite for a long time. Hope you have a fab time.

I personally would be willing to take a 1000 calorie hit on a keen naan right now Wink

Today has been rubbish. Ds flooded his bed and never went back to sleep so I've been away since 3 and work announced pay and holiday cuts today, so I'm a study in self pity tonight!

I am feeling a very strong urge to do angry/emotional eating tonight. I think the habit of comfort eating is so deeply engrained in me that even though I'm not hungry right now I find myself fighting a serious urge to binge eat.

lowcrabdiet · 05/02/2015 19:55

Oh and sending lots of positive 11 shaped vibes in your direction nevergoogle

Silverjohnleggedit · 05/02/2015 20:04

Sorry to hear that lowcrab would a good book or mag and a bubble bath help or bed early with iplayer or Netflix? Because the food, won't especially tomorrow when the guilts set in.

lowcrabdiet · 05/02/2015 20:58

Great minds think alike Silverjohn Wink

I'm settled down in front of the TV now watching my favourite show semi-legally on hulu.

DH made a simple but healthy dinner and I'm going to have an early night.

We have my nephew sleeping over on Saturday night so I'm going to keep on fighting my binge urges until that particular pizza, popcorn and sweetie fest begins Grin

MrsHooolie · 05/02/2015 22:21

Nothing like being totally exhausted to bring on a binge fest.

lowcrabdiet · 06/02/2015 07:21

WOOHOO!!!!! I've lost a stone!!!!!

Couldn't have done it without you all Grin

MrsHooolie · 06/02/2015 08:03

Nice one lowcrab!
I started at 182lbs and down to 173lbs.
Finding MFP really useful. Let me know if anyone wants to be a buddy on it.

lowcrabdiet · 06/02/2015 08:05

That is brilliant MrsHoolie! Well done

I will be your map buddy, although I only useful to log weightloss. Never food or exercise. So I might be a really boring bud!

lowcrabdiet · 06/02/2015 08:06

Your MFP buddy, not map buddy (although I'm quite good at reading maps, should you ever actually need a map buddy)

lowcrabdiet · 06/02/2015 08:09

Argh, bloody predictive text!!!

*only use it!

Silverjohnleggedit · 06/02/2015 08:20
Grin That's fantastic Lowcrab a whole big stone of fat, you must be feeling great! I should have taken my own advice about avoiding binging - I fell into a vat of sugar again last night...seems to happen everytime I go out for dinner, I need to figure out a way to stop myself. Then again I only go out 1-2 times a month, so maybe I can survive it - but it makes me feel awful the next day.

Taking the dog for a run this morning, so I'm all kitted out in my lovely Lycra...we're only going for a 10min run around the block, he's in trainingWink.

MrsHooolie · 06/02/2015 11:18

Ha ha Lowcrab!
I'm boring too, just use it for the diary,it might give us some ideas food wise though. Plus,I'm nosy!
I see we have the same breakfast.

lowcrabdiet · 06/02/2015 12:09

Silverjohn I do feel loads better for it, the plantar fasciitis in my foot has already eased a lot and in general I'm just so much more comfortable Grin

Do you think your sugar binge is triggered by what you eat when you go out? I have largely kicked the sugar now (if I'm really desperate I have a glass of chocolate nesquick) but i find that if I have white carbs I crave sugar terribley and could happily bite of a kids arm to get their lolipop.

nevergooglebrandybutter · 06/02/2015 12:28

12 stone and a quarter of an ounce.

In the name of all that is mumnsetty, show me an 11!

The scales actually say 12 0 1/4

Hmm

I am now turning into Bridget Jones.
