Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding?

I need to lose at least 2 stone by June.

Tbh I haven't done too bad over Christmas and haven't gained afaik? avoided scales.

I'm 5ft 8 and weigh just over 13 stone. Am a size 14. My stomach is my worst area, legs and arms are fine as are boobs.

I only want to get to a size 12 as don't look so good as a 10. I used to be really skinny when younger and hated it.

Anyone else need to lose weight for their wedding? I'm not even looking at dresses yet until I lose some.

I'm not having a wedding ring. When we got engaged I said I wanted all the value in one ring. We had it made to my own specification in platinum as I had yellow gold first time round and wanted something different and OH didn't want a white gold ring to have be sent back to get the rhodium plating redone every so many years.

With my other set of rings after I got married I rarely wore my engagement ring

It was. A pretty ring and it was such a shame asmy wedding ring wasn't so unusual.

So I thought I would do it differently this time and I know OH would be hurt if it was stuck in a drawer all the time. I haven't taken it off since he put it on my finger nearly four years ago I think. I bought him a nice ring as well. So that's one expense less lol! Otherwise these weddings can just run away with the money.

I got married in 1975 . It was a biggish wedding by some of today's standards about 120 people. Friends of parents, ancient family members....don't laugh it was just how things were done then but nothing special. Horrible modern church that looked like a community centre and venue...well somewhere that could cater for all those people so a community hall. So little thought went into it. No decoration of it. People just weren't doing that then. I had a very ordinary bridal car. I did have a beautiful dress hand made by a friend who was a superb tailoress. She also made three bridesmaid dresses and a flower girls. Bridesmaids weren't dressed to look sexy then.....they were dressed to look like....er bridesmaids. Don't forget it was the hippy dippy era, mine wore cotton lawn dresses in white sprigs of a pale lilac flower. Very pretty but ghastly by today's standards. I don't suppose the whole thing even came to a £1000

They were a lot more restrained than my friends. They wore long flared pinafore type dresses, you know with a bib top tied with a huge bow at the back (I can hear you all laughing now) and underneath was a flared sleeve butter coloured blouse. Like a scene from a dolly Parton smokey mountain movie. I can't remember what my friend looked like, those dresses stole the show. But that was par for the course.

Really and truly they were all just ghastly and it rained on my wedding day..but it won't this time.

Simple and elegant is the order of the day now

Thanks Soon I will report my loss tomorrow morning!! I got a bit emotional doing Cambridge but with 5:2 I feel better because I know the next day I can eat whatever i'm cravings (within reason) x

Dowser · 05/02/2015 10:16

Are you getting married in city hall. I envy you american weddings are so easy.

My daughters cake was $35 from Publix supermarket and her flowers were about the same from a local florist. We drove to the venue in our own cars and hired a local photographer who shot two rolls of film for $200. He normally did 200-300 people weddings so that was very good of him. The notary who performed the service was lovely and there we were in 95 degree heat under the oak trees, lake close by and all the men blubbing their eyes out. Priceless! My son couldn't believe I didn't want him to wear a suit because he would bake but was glad he took my advice. Y ex was disappointed not to walk his daughter down the aisle....but you know what neither me nor the happy couple would have changed it for the world.

My daughters dress was from Macy's and was about $80 and was stunning. Her wedding ring was made by a local jeweller and we had the reception in the local tea room and it was just perfect.

I would h ave loved to have done the same but flying everyone out to Florida was just way out of our price bracket.

SoonToBeMrsB · 05/02/2015 10:33

I've still got a tonne of Exante shakes gotred so it's something to consider in the future, I think knowing that food is only a day away could make it easier!

Dowser yeah, neither of us like weddings and we're both really anxious people so we're going to nip over to the States for a quickie elopement and then head down to Cancun for a week in the sun. He proposed in Central Park and NYC is the most amazing city so it was a pretty quick and easy decision! We're not taking any guests, our photographer will be our witness and we're not having a party when we get back because we both hate parties. It's the perfect anti-social introvert's wedding haha Grin

Dowser · 05/02/2015 13:38

That sounds even more simple than mine Mrs B

I can't remember but are you having a traditional type dress or just a special occasion type.

I won some upper class virgin flights to anywhere and we were going to go to New York but we loved Florida so much we decided to go there instead.

I'm glad we did we flew out a week after sept 11 and new York would have been just awful that's if they were still allowing planes to fly then.

Americans were coming over to us and shaking our hands and saying thank you for coming, thank you for coming. It was very emotional and I've never had the chance to attempt to plan another trip.

OH hates cities so it's doubly difficult .

SoonToBeMrsB · 05/02/2015 13:47

Oh no, I love city breaks! In the past three years we've been to Paris twice, Rome, Seville, Barcelona and NYC twice.

My dress is a 50's style one - I'm totally in love with it! It's two sizes too small so I need to get this lard shifted!

Well today hasn't been fantastic food wise. Breakfast went well, porridge. Then we went to Seaton Carew and you guessed it Dowser, fish and chips Grin I feel a stone heavier now. Really enjoyed them and step gs who's 10 months helped me eat them. Not that he ate many though of course. Dp was good, he just had a fish.

Dinner tonight will be something very light. Am off dancing so may just wait until I get back in?

I'm loving hearing all your stories.

Think I'll have a nana nap now. I was feeling drained yesterday and this morning. Hope I'm not coming down with something? A nap should sort me out?

Your dress is gorgeous STBMB.

I am edging off the wagon. I think it may be PMT as I am achy too. I just scrolled back through this thread and it is 3.5 weeks since I last got my period so that would make sense. I am going to try not to demolish chocolate for another 48 hours when I think I will get my period &, instead, will jump on the exercise bike this evening and see if I can push it out of my system that way.
Despite avoiding chocolate, I have still had two tea cakes for breakfast, carrot soup with a slice of bread for lunch, an apple and, just now, three crispbreads with soft cheese & cucumber and a half portion of pasta with tomato & mascarpone sauce.

Dowser - I keep thinking about your reminiscances yesterday &, whilst I am happy to be living in this day & age, I do wish my children got to grow up in a time more like that. I was bullied quite badly at school but at least it was limited to school hours. For my DC, it will be very different.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 05/02/2015 17:19

AF is due for me too dancingwitch. So really the chips I had were a sort of medical need? Wink

dancingwitch · 05/02/2015 20:34

Definitely, FSC. As was the cheese I just ate....

5madthings · 05/02/2015 20:41

I am mid cycle so no cravings here, hooray. Good day food wise and a 5.1 mile.run at a really good pace so feeling.fab today :)

Af def equals medical need for food and.chocolate!

dancingwitch · 05/02/2015 21:28

I just ate a bag of minstrels indecently fast. I think I may have been able to avoid the cheese etc if I had had them earlier. Or perhaps not!
Plans for going on the exercise bike have been shelved by children's bedtime shenanigans.

Dowser · 05/02/2015 22:29

DW you are a girl after my own heart!

Just had a couple of pieces of dairy milk with Daim.

Had my hair done today. First time since mid November. I look a different person ...well not really ...but a few years younger at least.

A nice boost, even makes me feel better.

Dowser · 05/02/2015 22:29

Just had a thought!

Yum! I love a boost ( choc bar)

FreakinScaryCaaw · 05/02/2015 23:19

Back from dancing and had lots of dances, some fast ones too!

Dp's making a salmon salad for supper. Bit late but we didn't eat before we went. Fishy day for us.

We'll be still up for a good hour so it should settle.

A windy day today. I hate that it finds every nook and cranny and blows the length of my house. What do you do? If you don't have some ventilaation the house just sweats. Like those Stephanie bowman slimming garments.

Basically two body shaped plastic bags for upper and lower body. Mum got some and you wore them under clothes while you did your chores. Rustled while you worked and made not a jot of difference and of they did you were only losing sweat.
Poor mum.

Well I'm going to be good today. Not really. Heart not fully in it but at least I shall make a good start .

.hope you all have a good day choice wise. Btw my hairdresser has done dry January and ran every day and didn't lose an ounce.

She eats very healthily and doesn't care about sweet things but did like a drink.

SoonToBeMrsB · 06/02/2015 09:12

Morning ladies! I had a bit of a think after gotred started doing 5:2 and so today is my first fast day. I have loads of products left over from when I attempted a VLCD so I can stick to 500-600kcal without worrying about meal planning and they contain 100% of your required nutrients. Plus, when you blitz the shakes with ice they go like a McDonald's ice cream shake Wink

B: Exante chocolate shake

L: Slim & Save nougat meal replacement bar

D: Exante strawberry shake

I've planned a 1900kcal day tomorrow including pancakes for breakfast and a homemade bacon cheeseburger for dinner - much more fun than my usual 1500kcal daily slog Grin

gotredonyou · 06/02/2015 09:22

Good luck Soon Hope you do better than me- I had another STS today even though I stuck to 5:2 religiously hmmm gonna persevere next week as its TOTM and up the exercise- joining a Zumba class on Tuesday xx

5madthings · 06/02/2015 09:23

Whoop whoop size ten skinny.jeans without a hideous muffin top! Grin

5madthings · 06/02/2015 09:23

They are next though and I think their sizes are generous..but.I shall ignore that!

FreakinScaryCaaw · 06/02/2015 09:28

I don't find Next sizes that generous. Well done 5mad!!

I feel fat today. Period is imminent. I suppose I should take something to get rid of water retention but cba.

Dancing again tonight at a new venue. I'm going with friend she's been before and loves it there. She said we'll get plenty of dances. Women ask men to dance anyway.

Have a good day everyone.

SoonToBeMrsB · 06/02/2015 09:38

Well done 5madthings, I don't find Next's sizes to be generous so I'd say that's a pretty amazing achievement!

SoonToBeMrsB · 06/02/2015 09:39

Ooh good luck red, I'm worse than useless at Zumba! I have the coordination of a hippo on roller skates and spend the whole class thinking about what my feet are doing Blush

ATeaPleaseBob · 06/02/2015 12:43

Well done 5madthings. You're doing a lot of running aren't you? Have you changed your diet much or is it just the exercise?

I weighed myself this morning and I was 10stone 13 pounds and a half. Finally under 11 stone!! Only just mind and I'm well aware that I'll probably be back up tomorrow.

5madthings · 06/02/2015 13:18

I am running four times a week, I also cycle or walk everywhere. I am not following a diet as such, am watching portion sizes and trying not to snack, but Tbh have still been having too much chocolate/biscuits. I think I am very lucky that as soon as I up my exercise or do exercises on top of my everyday cycling and walking that I see results quite quickly. The weight always goes on round my waist/hips when I don't exercise and comes off.once I do. This time.however am keeping the exercise.up! I always do it for 6mths or so then end up falling out of the hahabit, determined not to do that this time!

I am not coordinated either so have done. Zumba. But need simple, that's.why I like the davina. Dad's! O tried a.charlie.Brooker? She was in eastenders. And Omg I was useful far too many dance steps etc. Of anyone fancies giving it a go, pm me and I will post it on as I still have it. It's fun but not for the uncoordinated!

Well done on getting under 11stone teaplease
