Hi,

I would love to lose 10lb! I have decide to try and lose weight before Christmas.

I know I need an incentive so this is what I've cone up with - for every day that I stick to my low-fat diet, I get £1 to spend in the January sales. What do you think? I was going to pay myself for each lb that I lose but this seems a bit kinder (and more lucrative! )

Today I get zilch though because we've been at the children's farm all day and I had a piece of cake so that blew it. I'm allowing myself one small chocolate a day (like the ones you get in a box) but apart from that I'm going for low fat, high nutrient, healthy foods.

How are you all getting on?

loopity · 28/10/2006 22:49

Hi texasrose, welcome

We started about 2 or 3 weeks ago and are doing ok so far - support for each other is great.

Dislexicicecream - happy birthday!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been to two parties today - christening and a halloween one so have been nibbling quite a bit, but didn't eat any bread - yeah! Was driving as well so no wine so far although might have wee glass now that we're back home.

Hi everyone, welcome a board texarose...
Last night I drank a bottle of wine. So need to add about 800caleries to my food calerie count i did yesturday.
I woke up this morning with the worst headache ever. It was so bad...
I didnt have breakfast, went straight out with ds and dp and had a burger and chips in the slug and lettuce. Then we took ds to the park. He had so much fun. There were loads of little babys there too, so he liked that.
Anyway i had bread on the burger so that blew the wheat free day, but thats all i've had so not too bad.

dislexicicecream · 29/10/2006 08:21

morning all,
my food for yesterday was
alpen bar (whoops)

3 ltrs of whine and half a bottle of baliys, and 1 leter of water b4 bed,
i spent all day yesterday on my feet, and stayed away from the cake
got my friend on spare dace mat for about 3 houers to so that was fun,

I wouldnt of been able to resist a birthday cake
well done for doing that. Who ended up eating the cake?
I dont know what to have for breaky this morning... Dont really want porredge, but i think its the only sensible option in the house.

lipsbite · 29/10/2006 08:30

the porridge that i like is the "Oatso Simple" as plain porridge is too plain for me

i had the apple and blackberry flavour nad it was so yummy

BIGlilBUBU · 29/10/2006 08:30

I tried to get a pedometre yesurday, I had a look in boots but they didnt seem to have them. It was quite a small boots though. Does anyone know where I can get one?

BIGlilBUBU · 29/10/2006 08:31

I might go and get some oatso simple, is it higher in caleries though as its flavoured?

BIGlilBUBU · 29/10/2006 08:48

I just had wheatabix for breakfast..
I need to go shopping and get something applealing to have for breakfast thats wheat free.Ill get some corn flakes, bran flakes, musili and whatever else they have so I have a choice in the mornings. Ill have to check on the lable that theres no wheat in them.

dislexicicecream · 29/10/2006 09:30

maplins sell pedomiters,
kids ate the cake and my friend, lol but we did have a good few houers on dance mat to, carefull on the musili im sure alot of it has wheet,
has any one tryed oatabix yet? any good?

lipsbite · 29/10/2006 09:38

take a look on here for the calorie fact on oatsa simple

it may have traces of wheat in all of the flavours

on the golden syrup one (showing on the packet)

calorie - 3%
sugar - 9%
Fat - 3%
Saturates - 2%
Salt - 3%

lipsbite · 29/10/2006 09:39

no not tried oatabixs - i like to try them

BIGlilBUBU · 29/10/2006 11:39

Ok I wont get musili then, have tried oatabix, I didnt really like them, there quite sugary and rock hard. They just dont have the same effect as wheatabix. But my ds and dp like them so...give them a go, and if you dont like them your kids might. Im going to the farm today with ds and my mum then im going round my mums for dinner. She's cooking a roast, but she's quite good at cooking a not so fattening roast. Not sure how she's going to cook the chicken but i wont eat the skin, her roast potatos have hardly any oil on them(there quite dry but low fat) and the veg will be boiled proberbly. Not sure what to have for lunch. I should fill up so its easier to avoid temptation at the farm and my mums. She always has biscuits and chocolate and nice cheese with crackers.....my mouths watering just thinking about it im going to have to make sure i eat some lunch first otherwise im going to end up picking.
Whats everyone else doing for lunch today?

BIGlilBUBU · 29/10/2006 11:42

Might try the apple and cinnamon one, sounds nice.

costababe · 29/10/2006 15:48

Need to check in with frday and sat food
Friday Brekkie usual fruit, lunch was a l/f yoghurt as dp told me we were going out..
Dinner, well I had beef cappaccio for starter, and filet of pork in a dried plum sauce with veg, didnt have any bread or pots. Hd two glasses of wine and about a bottle of water, did finish with a small baileys!! Hoping the two hours of rubbish clearing from the garden to the skip might balance some of the calories!!

Saturday brekkie the usual fruit, lunch 2 weetabix with s s milk, Dinner small salad with mozzeralla and advacado
Snack hanful of raisins, glass of red wine as we had a small halloween party, los of dancing and running with the kids!!

costababe · 29/10/2006 15:51

And a happy birthday to u 4 yesterday dislexicicecream. well done for resisting the cake!!

loopity · 29/10/2006 16:26

Hi everyone

I'm not doing very well today, couldn't hold out on the no wheat intake and had slice of toast for breakfast, then two more mid-morning

No lunch, just had some melon but then picked at the kids choc from party last night and had 4 digestive biscuits with a cup of tea. Don't know what's wrong with me today, seem to have fallen right back into snacking habit.

Have made a shepherd's pie for tea and will have that with veggies and prob glass or two of wine after kids in bed.

Plus my kids are off all this week for half-term so no gym trips - help! Everyone else is doing so well - please help motivate me again. (May try texasrose's £1 in a jar each day too)

Well I have finally sat down this weekend. Yesterday I was on the go all day preparing for the party and had a little scare with ds on the morning, he woke up sounding like an asmatic (sp?) sounded like he was struggling to breathe. Phoned nhs direct who got me an appointment with a doctor within the hour, seems he has croup. On the upside he has started walking this weekend (finally)

So yesterday was a rush to get everything ready for the party after the morning being wasted with ds. It all worked out though luckily.

I spent the night sober though as the MiL wasn't keen on having ds after I told her he had croup, so I said I wouldn't drink so if she wanted to call me in the night I could go over if he got worse. Luckily he was fine. I think the antibiotics have started working already.

Golly I am wittering on... anyway as I was sober and tring to cook for 25 people I was running round like a blue arsed fly all night, but did manage to get the majority of the clearing away done before bed at 3.30am this morning.

So food yesterday, I couldn't tell you what I ate, not one proper meal anyway, all crappy snacks, 2 glasses of fizz.

Today - cooked breakfast for 15 people who had stayed over, finished clearing away, picked ds up from MiL. Got home mopped floors and vaccumed and finally sat down PHEW!

Food - 2 sausages, piece of cheescake, piece of choc cake, cheese bap, for tea am going to have some of the chilli from last night, I managed to salvage some. So had a crap weekend diet wise, hope to regain some sort of sensible eating tommorrow

loopity · 29/10/2006 17:39

Hi Mrs fish, hope ds better soon x

Both of us back on the diet bandwagon as of tomorrow then
Sounds like you were probably so busy that you were burning off loads of calories too.

BTW what age is ds? I'm still waiting for my ds2 (a bottom shuffler) to take off properly on his own and he's 20 mths!!

OP posts:
texasrose · 29/10/2006 19:50

hi everyone!

MrsFish I am in awe of you, cooking for 25 people! [impressed emoticon!!!] What did you have?

Loopity I am a terrible snacker, esp. chocolate. One mind-game I play to stop snacking is to ask myself, 'Is this (biscuit, cake, whatever) really, really gorgeous? Is it the best thing you've ever tasted?' If the answer is no (custard creams for e.g!) then I'll tell myself it's not worth the calories and not eat it. This might sound weird but it does work - sometimes!

I've had a pretty good day food wise. It was:

2 pieces of wholemeal toast (1 with boiled agg, 1 with jam) for breakfast

Roast chicken (no skin), boiled potatoes and steamed veg for lunch, followed by a portion of apple crumble (tons of apples, hardly any sugar / topping - {she says, trying to justify it!!!} for pudding with low fat ice cream (Carte D'Or vanilla - v. nice!)

V. small dinner of baked beans and left-over goat's cheese & spinach flamme.

To drink - loads of cups of tea and drinks of water. No booze!

That's not to bad, is it?

dislexicicecream · 29/10/2006 19:52

breakfast water (hang over)
lunch 4 ryvita extra light philly (more water)
dinner 2 smaill baked potatoes beans little bit of cheese and some calslaw
8 marsh mallows,(more water)
and water, lol

mrs fish, i hope your little one feels better , dont they say steam is good for croupe?like sitting in the bathroom with the shower turnd on and door closed, look it up on line,

my kids r back to school tomro so hopefully will be a good week cos i will be forsed to get up and dressed and stuff, and will be doing my mile each way school run agen, but saying that i think i will probaly be late tomoro though cos the clocks changeing always dose something funny to me ,

MrsFish · 29/10/2006 20:29

Loopity - Yep diet bandwagon tommorrow, I decided against eating any dinner as I wasn't that hungry anyway. Ds is 16 and a half months, he has been walking round furniture/using his walker/holding onto one finger for weeks, but he has finally found the confidence to let go and go of his own accord. I'm sure your ds will go soon.

Texasrose - I made a huge chilli, with rice, garlic bread, jacket spuds and pukka pies with mushy peas, I have an aga so it was just a case of shoving it all in and trying to time it right. Quite difficult though when you have a kitchen full of people

I play that mind game too, IT DOES WORK

dislexicicecream - yeah, the doctor suggested the steam method.

He has been alot better today, I think the medicine is working already. He has been in bed since 6.30 and I haven't heard any coughing from him for a good hour, hopefully it will stay that way.

Going to attempt a five mile walk tomorrow, other than yesterday not managed the 10,000 steps since thursday, so I have a deficit to try and make up, if I am going to lose any this week

Think I am going to have an early night, I am totally knackered. Night all x

loopity · 30/10/2006 11:52

Morning all

Motivation back today but I think I'm going to have to change from "no-wheat" to "less-wheat" as I just end up craving toast then blow it.

Have started doing the "snack self-interrogation" mind game too. Think the weather has cleared up a bit here so will take the lo's to the park for a while to keep them occupied, and to stop me hanging out of the larder

Good luck for today everyone

BIGlilBUBU · 30/10/2006 12:04

Sounds like everyone had a nice weekend even if the diet didnt quite go to plan.
Mrs fish im so envious of you having a aga, I would love one of those. My granny has one.
Am also impressed you cooked for 15!!!
Yesturday I ate
Breakfast wheatabix
Lunch 2 rivita with low fat philedelphia
Dinner Roast chicken(no skin) 3 roast potatos, and some raw grated carrot, there was some steamed veg on offer but im not keen on it so i had grated carrot. Just incase you were wondering why i had raw grated carrot with a roast...It was yummy.
Its not bad calerie wise but its bad wheat wise, im ment to be having absolutely no wheat, and i have.
Im on my period, its the second since i stopped breastfeeding. Im on the pill, and today quite a big blood clot came out with my period. Is this something to worry about? I know when you've just given birth the midwifes ask if you've had any clots in your bleed. Does anyone have an idea if its normal, something to worry about with a normal period?
