Ok Ive lost 2 pounds
Now Im not going to slack this weekend like I did last weekend. I think thats the main problem for all of us. We should thing of some tactics to avoid too much wine and too much food.

MrsFish · 26/10/2006 09:28

Well I have a big party on Saturday, but I am hoping I will be so busy entertaining and tidying up as I go along that I won't eat too much

Well done on your loss too.

Its motivated me into being really good again this week.

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 09:28

Im going to think of another thing to cut out this week aswell as bread. Really I think I need to stop having wheatabix, but I really hate the taste and texture of porridge. I think I dont know whether to try chew it or swallow it...anyone else find this? I really wish I liked it because its so good for you and is very satisfing. Hmmm Ill have to have a think about what I will have instead. Maybe I should go completely wheat free this week... not sure how long id last, but im going to give it a go. Anyone want to join me?

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 09:31

Mrs fish, is it your party? If so make some healthy snacks for you to have. Will there be alcahol? Id say enjoy yourself and drink but try and not eat, but once you've had a drink you kind of lose all good intensions and eat whatever you like, well I do anyway. You've done so well, maybe be ridiculasly good tommorrow and just enjoy yourself on sat then back to being strict on sunday.

Morning everyone

Well done Mrs fish and BlB - Just weighed and I've lost 1.5 pounds so that's 4 in total for me so far which I'm very pleased about!

Will really have to be good this week, but this weekend is going to be very difficult - we are out for dinner with friends tomorrow and then to a halloween party on sat night. Will have to up my exercise levels to balance out.

I'd love to do the no wheat BlB, will have a think about it. Could you try the porridge with some of costa's stewed fruit mixed in to make it tastier?

OP posts:
MrsFish · 26/10/2006 09:40

BlB - Why don't you try the Oatibix instead - (then you can tell me what it tastes like )

Yes its my party, thats a good idea, I'll nibble on carrot sticks instead of crisps.

Main food will be ok as I am doing a large chilli, jacket spuds, rice, pukka pies, mushy peas and garlic bread. So I'll just have the chilli and a spud.

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 09:43

Im not all that keen on cooked fruit, but i will try it as it would be a very healthy breakfast. Your going to have to remind me on how to make it. My mum made a batch for ds a while back, with cooking apples she didnt add sugar as it was for ds, and it tasted awful. It was very tart. Could that be because it was made with cooking apples? Another I may try is adding raisins to it. My mum suggested I do that to bring a bit of sweetness and bite to the porridge. What porridge do you use? I have sainsburys original easy oats. It says make with milk, is it possible to use water instead?

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 09:46

Sorry forgot to congratulate you on your weight loss...WELL DONE, your nearly half way there if we cut out wheat im sure the weight would drop off. Apparently going wheat free helps your digestive system function better, so im sure that can only add to the weight loss.
I think we should do it loopity...we can keep each other motivated. Its going to be so hard for me, im a pasta addict!

loopity · 26/10/2006 09:50

BlB, costa's recipe is to soak apricots overnight then chop and add to peeled, sliced apples. Add some cinnamon or mixed spice and simmer until stewed. You definitely will need to add sugar to taste to offset the tartness of cooking apples or just use eating apples.

BTW, have tried sainsbury's porridge and didn't like it - I prefer oatso simple either plain with tsp of sugar or the flavoured ones are lovely.

OK, I'll go for the wheat thing but you will have your work cut out keeping me on track, what with my scone habit and everything!

OP posts:
MrsFish · 26/10/2006 09:51

I use sainsburys porridge oats, I usually have 1 1/2 ounce, add water straight from the tap until its about double the quantity of oats and then I microwave it till it goes nice and thick and yummy Result only 150 calories, plus whatever you add to it

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 10:05

Ok mrs fish will try it with water, i might prefer it without milk. If I still dont like it I'll try oastso simple. Costababes recipe sounds really tastey. I think the cinnamon would make it really nice, i love cinnamon. Ok thats what I will have tommorrow for breakfast.
Loopity lets try and think of a scone replacement. Cant think of one just yet, but loopity dont buy any not even for the kids because you'll eat them. Have you got any in the house now? If you do, have one and make it your last, untill you've lost your goal of 10lb then you can treat yourself to one. Something to look forward to.
As for scone replacement why not have carrot instead...haha im only joking, we need to find something apealing but not wheat or fatty. This is a tough one....

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 10:07

Appealing not apealing me and my spelling..

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 10:08

Loopity I thought you could have a rivita wil low fat philadelphia, but is it the sweetness of the scone you like so much?

sweetheart · 26/10/2006 10:10

2Ibs off

BIGlilBUBU · 26/10/2006 10:16

Well done sweetheart.

loopity · 26/10/2006 10:28

Don't know what it is about scones Just think they're lovely with a cup of tea! Don't have any in the house so will avoid the bakery for next few weeks so that I don't give in to temptation.

Sweeetheart, well done

Just been to supermarket and bought some ryvita and oatcakes! Also some wheat and gluten-free bread so that i can still have some with my scrambled eggs! BlB, just had loads of fruit for lunch (mango and melon)and i'm going to have some yoghurt now - see, making healthier choices already!
