After Megglevache's inspirational thread and photos showing her FIVE STONE loss I am inspired to start yet again.

I'm not dieting. I'm just going to avoid wheat and sugar. And good waaaayyy back on wine.

So no bread, pasta, biscuits, cake, sweets, white rice etc.

Right, I decided to have an intermediate weigh-in this morning and I was a pound lighter than Friday, so that has cheered me up.

WildFlowersAttractBees · 15/12/2014 09:17

Good plan TheRealMary. I plan to be good all week and drive to our next night out on Saturday. I am trying to not drink until Christmas eve but we are going to a dinner party and I know without fail it will involve Scotland's booziest christmas pudding so no drink = no pud. Also not being tipsy means I won't continue to nibble on the cheeseboard, chocolates etc for the entire evening after dinner.

Well done WhoKnows!

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 15/12/2014 10:02

Thanks. I'm driving to our works night out on Saturday too, haven't touched any booze in the last week, but I've got a friends night in with takeaway and wine tonight and DH's work do on Friday, when I'm not driving. So, I need to be extra diligent about what I eat the rest of the time. On the plus side, the place we are going for our works do is very much mass catered, not all that nice food, so I don't think I will have too much difficulty leaving say the potatoes and half the pudding. I am thinking a slice of rye bread toast before any night out might be a good idea to take the edge of my appetite.

TheRealMaryMillington · 17/12/2014 10:22

Where are we, Wednesday? (who knows where the time goes indeed!)

Double yoga on Monday - a hot one with lots of sweating in the morning before work then family yoga which is surprisingly workout-y once you've lifted three children on your feet and musical yoga statues and pretended to be a crocodile. It's so much fun though it hardly feels like exercise.

Biked to a yin yoga class yesterday morning, then did the Christmas shopping at last. Lots of trooping round shops and then had felafel and hummus in a lebanese place. Dare not MFP it.

Trying to be back on the wagon for this last week before the Big Day. (eek)
No big nights out but a weekend in Edinburgh so many dangers lurk in the form of Valvonna and Crolla. Have booked a yoga class for Sunday morning there, and wondering about attempting a walk up Arthur's Seat.

WildFlowersAttractBees · 17/12/2014 14:32

Go Mary. Family Yoga sounds fun but haven't heard of it in my area.

DH and I climbed Arthur's seat last year. It is quite rough near the top so we did it without the DC's. Urban angel is good for a reasonably healthy brunch. A good old stomp around the zoo is great too!

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 17/12/2014 23:19

Erm, not doing too well this week. Bought some cheese footballs forDS and ate a lot of them. My meals have been very good, next to no carbs, but snacking rather a lot. Onwards!

TheRealMaryMillington · 18/12/2014 21:10

yesterday good - a run (yay!) and yoga in the evening and good food choices

today - no exercise apart from brisk walks between meeting, 3 glasses of wine and egg fried rice for tea…..hmmm

on the upside, my waist is feeling distinctly smaller

AggressiveBunting · 19/12/2014 05:59

Glad to see everyone's doing so well.

Still here- just had a crazy couple of weeks- I was back home for 5 days as DM had an operation (relatively minor and it went well so that's actually a real relief) and then I was traveling with work (with boss in tow) and then back home (still with boss in tow). Cant really say it's been the best fortnight diet wise (margueritas and tacos do not a healthy dinner make), but nor has it been an unmitigated disaster. I'm proud that I've maintained some sort of exercise regime, whereas normally it peters out early December and I just think "screw it- wait till January".

WildFlowersAttractBees · 19/12/2014 06:51

Just weighed in and I am 1/4 of a lb heavier! Sad
A mixture of churos, popcorn and out for meals plus my bloated hormone induced boobs and hips are to blame!

I have meal planned until Boxing day (excluding Christmas day) to keep me on track. Lots of tasty meals from the hairy dieters cook book and a real effort to increase my water intake should help to avoid the normal Christmas mega gain!

Glad your mum is ok Bunting, extra stress and a change of routine makes it so much harder.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 19/12/2014 08:49

I'm the same as last week, not surprising really, have eaten too many snacks this week. Out for meals tonight and tomorrow (both pre-chosen from very limited menu choices months ago). I don't do very well with menu planning, two fussy DCs, one of whom has school dinners, one of whom does not, one or other of whom is out every evening between 5 and 8 doing sports etc, a DH that comes home randomly between 6 and 8pm all add up to making it vey tricky indeed. One DC is only a bit fussy, the other one is extreme (AS and sensory issues), there are very few meals they'll both eat, and would both plump for pasta every night.

On the plus side, I went swimming yesterday, also had a bit of luck. I bought a Fitbit a couple of years ago and used it diligently for ages, then I lost th clip you attach it to your clothing with about a year ago and haven't been able to use it. Having searched high and low for ages and long ago given up, it turned up last night lodged in one of the DCs bookcases. So I can start monitoring activity again.

WildFlowersAttractBees · 20/12/2014 00:20

So much for being good today. I applied for a job last week thinking I didn't have a hope in hell of an interview. They called today and want to see me on Monday. I got so nervous I accidentally ate half a box of malteasers.

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 20/12/2014 00:32

Oh, well done (on the interview!).

Mixed for me today, I'm desperately trying to clear the freezer a bit, so I had crumpets for breakfast (bad), butternut squash soup for lunch (good), a mince pie (bad), a meal out (not too bad - starter and main both salads, virtually carb if not fat free) and a meringue pudding (not so good). Oh and best part of a bottle of wine (very naughty). Off to bed now before I eat anything else. Oh and I weighed in at exactly the same as last week.

Good news for me today too - my DS has SNs, I have been slogging my way through the system to get him a statement for school since Jan and finally got confirmation that he is getting one today, plus the first draft. I have been on tenterhooks about this for several months.

WildFlowersAttractBees · 20/12/2014 00:50

Hoorah for the statement development, that must be a weight off.

I am off to bed too... the fridge is calling me!

AggressiveBunting · 22/12/2014 03:20

I appear to have put on 5lbs over the weekend which is unsurprising given levels of baguette, pate, cheese, mince pie and champagne consumption. Hoping at least 3lbs of that is salt bloat so drinking tonnes of water. Chances of having diet-angel day today limited by work Christmas lunch. Did make it to Crossfit this morning though and ran there and back (6k in total) and I had a really good run on Saturday where for the first time I had confidence that I may be able to run most of the 50k race I've got in February, providing I pace myself properly. However, my calves are agony-need to do some major stretching before i start walking like a neanderthal.

wild congrats on the interview- hope it goes well, and whoknows glad you got the statement- that must be a huge relief.

CiderwithBuda · 22/12/2014 21:51

I'm so rubbish. Even on my own thread. Needless to say I havent been sticking to plan. Been eating anything and everything. And drinking lots of wine. It's been a manic few weeks and it was easier to just forget it all and go with the flow.

Family arrive tomorrow for xmas so I shall wish you all a Merry Christmas and I promise to be back in the New Year. I'm doing Dry January which will help.

Well, I think it is time we just made a collective promise to carry on with this in the New Year, we made a great start and we can keep going, but almost inevitably we will slip over the next week and a half. I've managed to keep off the 2lb I lost in the first week, which I'm pleased about and I have definitely been a bit more restrained with my food choices at a time when it is possible to pig out all day long, I've got this thread to thank for that. I have also been doing more exercise than I usually would. So, thank you all for the support and have a not too Merry Christmas!

CecyHall · 23/12/2014 08:34

Yes, I seem to have broken up for Christmas but have all the plans in place for the new year so will be back and raring to go on the 2nd of January!

Merry Christmas!!

WildFlowersAttractBees · 23/12/2014 10:07

Well yesterday was so manic I had a a chip roll for dinner! Xmas Blush

Have meal panned today then will just try to make the best possible choices over the next week or so!

CiderwithBuda · 23/12/2014 14:51

In an effort to help the eating properly in January plan i have startd n the Xmas goodies already. Sausage rolls for lunch followed by two chocolate Kimberelys (you might have to be Irish to know what they are!).

I'm on a pinkie promise to do Dry January with my chiropractor! Hard to say no when you are lying on your front and he is sticking acupuncture needles in your neck! Grin

Dinner tonight is random freezer food possibly with sweet potato wedges.

Very impressed with those of you who have managed to stick with it. Especially impressed with those who are exercising. Also one of my New Years resolutions!

Merry Christmas to you all and see you the other side! Xmas Grin

Back from a weekend in Edinburgh, lovely times with lovely friends but far too much Polish home cooking and lovely booze. But I am glad I at least attempted some healthier approaches to eating and did loads of exercise earlier in the month - I can feel the difference and it will be easier to start again - I'm planning to start again in earnest 27th.

Dry Jan sounds positively necessary after last weekend.

TheRealMaryMillington · 01/01/2015 13:40

Hello

Happy 2015!

Been for a plod run in the rain and wind, it felt great after a few days of indolence and booze.

How are you all doing? Hope you've had fun!

CecyHall · 02/01/2015 10:04

Hello all, Happy New Year!

I'm back at it from today but with a tummy bug so looking on the bright side, hopefully that'll kick start me a bit, it really hurts though.

I weighed this morning and I'm now the heaviest I've ever been, I never want to see that number on the scales again!

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 02/01/2015 10:36

Happy New Year! I'm away till Sunday, so I'm going to weigh in on Monday morning and get started properly again then.

TheRealMaryMillington · 04/01/2015 23:02

Hiya

Back from a weekend away with friends and kids. Pizza was eaten, wine was drunk. But there was a great pool, so three big swims, and a couple of walks.

Tomorrow is a new day 1 for me - so glad we started before xmas but feel properly ready for fresh mindset now. Yoga, running, as vegan as I can manage and MFP.

Overall I need to lose a minimum of 2.5 stone, and I would be thrilled to do that. There is scope for (quite a bit) more but my main driver is health and fitness (with side effects of size of arse reduction and improved mental state) rather than weightless itself.
