How can I lose 10lbs before my holiday on, er, Monday?

In a panic. Was meant to start diet in May but one thing (or rather, one pizza) led to another and now I've got less than a week.

I'm 5'6" and look great at 9st 7. This morning I was 10st 11! Shiiiiiiiit!

What can I do? I really REALLY need to crash some of this off. I don't care if it's unhealthy, it's only for a few days and I can do it properly when I get home.

Any and all ideas MASSIVELY gratefully received. What are your tried and tested tricks? Thank you!

Ahem..
I'm out and about all day, which means no time to eat.
Soup and a posched egg tonight, no wine.

foxinthebox · 20/08/2014 11:05

Bought some new scales. Off to calibrate them..

coffeeinbed · 20/08/2014 11:09

poached even...
Careful with the new scales, don't trust the fuckers too easily.

Itsfab · 20/08/2014 11:59

For a brief moment this morning I was 11 something and then it was cruelly snatched away and I am the same as I have been for days. Better than being up. Period late. And have had 2 1/4s of chewing nuts this week so not too bad. Ready brek for breakfast, planning pasta and a bit of cheese for lunch and fish risotto for dinner so all okay I think.

foxinthebox · 20/08/2014 12:05

That's a lot of cars, it's fab. Where are all the veggies and steaks?

foxinthebox · 20/08/2014 12:06

New scales weigh in at 1 kg lighter than the old. They can stay.

Itsfab · 20/08/2014 12:13

fox as I was typing it I felt it was too much on the carb front so I am not having pasta now. I am having some cottage cheese Grin. I think that is probably carbs too [thick] but it is healthy. No steak as no money Sad. I will have some veg with the risotto. I can't actually be bothered to eat at all now.

This brilliant thread has reminded me of a diet I did about 15 years ago and lost just under a stone in 3 weeks. It's called the Rotation Diet, and after a quick google I may just have bought the reprinted version on Amazon Blush (less than a fiver if anyone else is interested).

From memory it's a 3-week diet which involves having 600 calories a day for the first 3 days, followed by 900 cals for the rest of that week. Week 2 is a heady 1200 cals a day, and the final week is back to the 600/900 combo. The 'science' behind it was that by only having v low calories for a week, then a week of higher calories, the weight loss doesn't stall. It also involved some walking each day too I think.

The weight loss was quick and stayed off. In fact, after losing a further 7lbs over a longer period (mainly with exercise) after the original stone, I stayed that weight for years. I seem to have inadvertently and very gradually put on about half a stone over the past few months (that's what happens when you stop weighing yourself every day!!) and all my size 10 jeans are painfully tight and I'm feeling a bit too bellyfied. So once it arrives I'm going to give it a whirl - I'll report back but I'm sure the lbs will be melting away almost instantly.

ScarlettInSpace · 20/08/2014 13:02

Where are the new scales from?

Rotation diet sounds good, will maybe schedule that as a follow on from the soup diet Grin

ScarlettInSpace · 20/08/2014 13:03

Oh being not bothered about eating - the holy grail! Like those weirdos who 'forget to eat' Confused

BreakingBod · 20/08/2014 13:07

I've just been reading about Amelle Berrabah (from the Sugababes) and she's complaining that she's accidently lost 7lbs despite eating 3000 cals a day due to all the training she's doing on Tumble. She's resorted to eating cheese sandwiches before bed to try and gain a few lbs - must be awful for her Hmm

Zucker · 20/08/2014 13:12

11 stone 9 and a half this morning. Oh how I long to be a person that "forgets to eat" It's all I ever think about ffs.

Congratulations on your new scales foxinthebox It's always a good thing when the scales knows its place and behaves itself I think.

I'm going to have a balloon release in the park later for poor Amelle and her missing pounds, the poor love.

PrimalLass · 20/08/2014 13:19

BreakingBod, I remember my mum doing one like that called Size 12 in 21 days It worked really well, and included a power-walking programme.

Although the author herself isn't very complimentary about it Grin

FavadiCacao · 20/08/2014 13:26

Rotation diet seems to follow the same principles as the Scarsdale diet.
This thread has given me quite a lot to think.Flowers I gained 45kg by not eating the Italian way; I lost the best part of 30 kg eating the Italian way; lost a futher 5/6 kg low carbing (mostly by losing hair); gained 6kg eating high fat non Italian food; I've been low carb'ing 5 of the last 6 weeks and lost 1kg the week off low carb and eating Italian style but gained 1kg overall...Hmm Meh fink I eet italiano. :)

flightywoman · 20/08/2014 13:26

"Accidental scoffing in the cakes aisle"

The usual - work-colleague bringing in all the cakes for a birthday. I'm fairly sure forced-jollity cake doesn't count...

Still, it counteracts the boredom, so that's something!

Itsfab · 20/08/2014 13:29

Not in a good way Scarlett. Just fed up of not having the right stuff in and being too thick to plan better.

I had cottage cheese and onion with 5 cream crackers.

Had to stop hoovering as it scared the cat. He has been asleep in my bed since 7.30 so I wouldn't want him to have to move Grin.

Got to go and get EldestFabBoy in a few minutes. No doubt within 1 minute the kids will all be fighting Hmm.

Tomorrow is shoe shopping....Last year £330 for 9 pairs and that was with a discount. Already spent £324 on uniform this week Sad.

I need a job.

CatThiefKeith · 20/08/2014 13:40

Has anyone tried the Terri Ann Mitchell 123 diet?

I bought the book a couple of years ago, did the first 10 days, lost 11lb, then mislaid the book.

That was good. Basically nothing but meat, lettuce, onions, peppers, mushrooms and eggs for 10 days, eat as much as you like and drink 2 litres of water each day.

There were lots of rules though, like no more than 6 slices of ham per day, and two yoghurts per day but had to be eaten by 4 pm.

JudysPriest · 20/08/2014 14:52

Been lurking for a while. SIL's wedding not this Sat but next.

5ft 7 and was 9 stone 9 on Sunday. Now 9 stone 3!

I have no shitters tea, but I do have green tea. Breakfast has been a poached egg with one grilled tomato/mushroom/ half a pepper. Lunch is just plain salad. Sometimes I have a snack of 2 biscuits and a cup of tea if I feel a sugar headache coming on.

Dinner varies, however last night I had Iceland meal in a bag chicken fajita stir fry. 140cals for 1/3 of a bag and it was lovely and filling.

I'm going to do epson salts baths too! Would love to be under 9 stone in time for the big day and be the thinnest person there. It's also period week so hopefully once that's gone I'll be there.

Good luck to all crash dieters!

Laundryangel · 20/08/2014 14:59

If anyone is considering doing meal replacement shakes, Groupon have a deal on today. I've never heard of the brand but am sure that, with the help of some slithers tea, it will work wonders.

BoffinMum · 20/08/2014 16:13

Nell, it's basically whey with creatine, a la weightlifting potion, but less water retaining. You have three scoops of it in skimmed milk or juice, three times a day, and you are allowed raw fruit and veg. I used to make mine into a milkshake with a banana and a spoon of natural yoghurt as well as a few ice cubes, as I hated the taste. However pharmacies sell it over in Germany and it really is the main thing people do if they have to lose loads of weight really fast. Does you no harm in the short term as it's enriched with lots of vitamins and minerals, so ideal for dieting emergencies. You might be able to contrive a version from Holland and Barrett products if you keep your wits about you and read labels.

BoffinMum · 20/08/2014 16:14

Fox, I suffered pre-GCSE results stress yesterday and ate half a treacle tart, then went out for lunch today and had three courses with wine, including a creme brûlée. I feel like a barrel.

BoffinMum · 20/08/2014 16:15

It's the way you just find yourself falling on cake and it going into your mouth that is the real bugger, isn't it?

coffeeinbed · 20/08/2014 16:36

Cake and the occasional wine here.

Zucker · 20/08/2014 18:09

It's the buggerist of buggers really. I've often suddenly realised I've eaten my way through a bag of maltesers. Maybe its magic spooky
