How can I lose 10lbs before my holiday on, er, Monday?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 12/08/2014 23:47

In a panic. Was meant to start diet in May but one thing (or rather, one pizza) led to another and now I've got less than a week.

I'm 5'6" and look great at 9st 7. This morning I was 10st 11! Shiiiiiiiit!

What can I do? I really REALLY need to crash some of this off. I don't care if it's unhealthy, it's only for a few days and I can do it properly when I get home.

Any and all ideas MASSIVELY gratefully received. What are your tried and tested tricks? Thank you!

Minimoo, I haven't tried cabbage soup, but I did have some success with the tomato soup/detox dote a few months ago. I lost 8lb in a week.

CatThiefKeith · 19/08/2014 16:15

Tomato soup / detox diet

There are a few versions of it and Apart from the things it specifies there is no weighing or measuring of food

The Tomato Soup 7-day Detox

Warning: If eaten alone for an indefinite period of time, you will suffer malnutrition.

Ingredients

1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (or equivalent fresh tomatoes)
6 large green onions
1 onion
1 bunch of celery
2 bay leaves
1 package of Lipton soup mix flavor of your choice
1 can of beef broth (or homemade stock)
2 green peppers
2 lbs. of peeled carrots
Preparation

Cut the veggies into small to medium pieces. Combined all of the ingredients above, add enough water to cover and let soup simmer. Season the soup with salt, pepper, curry, parsley, bullion, or hot sauce.

Bring to boil for 5 minutes, reduce to simmer and continue cooking until veggies are soft and tender.

Detox Guidelines

This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry, and you can eat it as much as you want. The more you eat, the more you’ll lose. Don’t worry about the amount of calories you are consuming. Fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day, and eat it as a meal.

Beverages: unsweetened juices, tea, coffee and water.

By the end of the seventh day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost at least 10-17lbs. If you have lost more than 15lbs, stay off the diet for at least 2 days before resuming the detox for seven more days. This seven day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean your system of impurities, and promote overall well-being as never before. After only seven days of this process is when you will begin to feel lighter, and healthier. You will also gain an abundance of energy, along with the weight loss. Go off the diet at least 24 hours before any intake of alcohol.

Because everyone’s digestive system is different, this diet will affect each individual differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began. By day three, you will also find that your bowel movements have been changed – if required eat a cup of bran or fiber to alleviate any discomfort. Although you can have black coffee on this diet, you may find that you don’t need the caffeine after the third day. Many people report improved bowel activity on this diet, and you may try 1 tsp. of red psyillum three times a day between your fruit and veggies.

This basic fat burning soup can be eaten any time you feel hungry. Eat as much as you want, and remember, the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled or baked chicken instead of beef (no skin) if you prefer, and you can substitute baked fish for the beef only one of the beef days. You will need the high protein in the beef for all the other days.

Any prescribed medication will not hurt you on this diet. Continue the diet plan as long as you wish and feel the difference, both physically and mentally. However, do not continue this diet indefinitely.

Last but not least, drink plenty of water!

Forbidden Foods

During this diet, alcohol is absolutely forbidden. You should also not have any bread, carbonated drinks, as well as any dried or fatty foods.

Directions

Day 1

Eat any fruit except for bananas. Cantaloupe and watermelons are your best choices because they are lower in calories than most other fruits. Enjoy only soup and fruits for this day only.

Day 2

All vegetables are allowed on this day – eat till you’re stuffed with all the fresh, raw or canned veggies you can consume. Try to eat leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas and corn. Eat the veggies along with soup. At dinner time, reward yourself with a baked potato and a little butter. No fruit for this day.

Day 3

Eat all the soup, fruit, and vegetables you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for three days and have not cheated along the way, you will have lost at least five to seven pounds.

Day 4

Bananas and skim milk should be incorporated to your diet today. Eat least three bananas and drink as much skim milk you can today with the soup. Banana and milk will provide your body the missing potassium, carbohydrate, protein and calcium to lessen your craving for sweets.

Day 5

Lean beef and tomatoes should be incorporated to your diet today. You may have 10 to 20oz of beef and a can of tomatoes or as many as six fresh tomatoes. You may substitute the beef with chicken breast. On this day, eat the soup at least once, more if you like.

Day 6

Beef (or chicken breast) and veggies should be incorporated to your diet today. Eat your heart’s content of the lean beef (or chicken breast) and veggies today. You can have two to three lean steaks if you want, but must be eaten with leafy green veggies on the side. No baked potato today. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today.

Day 7

Brown rice should be incorporated to your diet today. Unsweetened fruit juices and veggies are also allowed today. Be sure to stuff yourself with the soup at least once today.

I left the broth out of the soup and used a couple of Oxo cubes instead.

Our local Sainsburys is huge but not designed with those of us on a fast & furious diet in mind as the slither tea options were very limited. There was Pukka detox & Pukka cleanse only. Luckily, they were on offer if you bought two so I bought both. Which do I start with? Or do I do one immediately followed by the other? Will be at home for the rest of the day/night but will be leaving the house at 7am tomorrow to spend the day in meetings & have a 2hr commute each way. Any thoughts? Am feeling quite bloated today.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 19/08/2014 17:16

How long did the 8lbs stay off Catthief?

ScarlettInSpace · 19/08/2014 18:58

Oh I like the look of the soup diet detox, I am definitely getting on that the other side of the wedding weekend coming up.

Well I hadn't lost a single bloody lb this morning fellow shitters - then I realised it's probably cos I hadn't actually managed a single bowel movement in 2 days TMI alert. Whoops too late for the alert sorry Grin

I got through team lunch today on a plain salad & I've spent the last 2 hours in my hotel room steadfastly not looking at the stupid biscuits they leave here - why does my room have choc chip cookies in instead of the horrid dry ones that look like they have dead flies in??

Anyway, tips on getting through team dinner tonight? Can I just do the wine bit of the wine & egg diet? I've spent most of my life cherry picking from a variety of diets to suit myself, why change now Confused

BoffinMum · 19/08/2014 19:03

Dogs bollocks, if you can get some sent over in time.

LuckySaint · 19/08/2014 19:43

I quite fancy doing a soup/fruit type thing.

My dm used to do the cabbage soup diet in the 90's.
The whole house would smell vile while it was cooking.
And oh dear god, it made her windy :o

LuckySaint · 19/08/2014 19:45

I'd have both Laundryangel, I don't think the Pukka ones are as scary as the proper Shitter tea.

NellVarnish · 19/08/2014 19:50

BoffinMum was is das MULTAN stuff? Ich haben gone to de Amazon page und found it aber can't bloody read it. German lessons were a long long time ago.

Is it a Magic Potion a la Harry Potter?

Minimoo43 · 19/08/2014 19:56

Thanks catthief! The tomato one looks much better than cabbage one. I was slightly concerned about the 'wind' issues altho i do work in a hospital so I could blame it on the patients Wink
I've got the in laws staying till weekend so tom diet starts on sat, after a massive junk food and binge drinking session!!

NellVarnish · 19/08/2014 19:56

strikeout fail

CatThief I don't think there's any danger of me suffering from malnutrition slaps wobbly belly. Sounds interesting ...

Whilst waiting for my Scarsdale diet book to arrive, I've been channeling the 80's, wearing leg warmers, singing Wham songs and eating retro - Ryvita, cottage cheese, tomato and cucumber. It'll be Slimcea next.

Oh and I had a ShitterTea yesterday. Luckily I wasn't as bad as OP's sister.

Grin
Minimoo43 · 19/08/2014 19:59

Can I just ask what a can of beef broth is catthief? I'm having a thick moment!

Minimoo43 · 19/08/2014 20:00

I def have some healthy fat stores going on here!

What actually is shitter tea?! Smile

NellVarnish · 19/08/2014 20:12

Is beef broth like consommé I wonder minimoo?

ShitterTea is the herbal tea that the OP's sister found useful to get her ... moving again. So to speak.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 19/08/2014 20:14

Hello! I'm a bit less pissd and maudlin today. :) no time to comment on the posts but I have been ROARING with laughter and I love all of you. :)

Food-wise, I've been angelic. Today for breakfast AND lunch I just had fruit. I know! Saintly. Dinner was steak and plain salad.

There might have been 3 squares of chocolate and some crispy-coated peanuts, but that's it.

Drinks... Ah. 2 4oz glasses wine, two vodka and diet tonics, about 2 whiskies!

OP posts:
WhatsGoingOnEh · 19/08/2014 20:16

I'm also having Full and Slim sachets and ShitterTea. Which stops working after a while.

I weighed myself this morning: 10st 8. But I weighed myself this lunchtime and was 10 9 which I think means I'll be 10 7 tomorrow.

Love you! See you tomorrow x

The 8lb stayed off for about 3 weeks. And then I had my 40th and ate and drank myself silly.Blush

I didn't bother with beef broth, I just chucked a couple of oxo cubes in.

5madthings · 20/08/2014 07:59

Well done keeping the diet going over the holidays!

I am the sane today but given it was ds1's bday yesterday which involved cake and a Chinese take away in the evening I am happy with that.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 20/08/2014 08:00

I'm only 10 8 today. And I haven't slithered yet...

WaitingForMe · 20/08/2014 09:05

I discovered this thread last night and got up to date with it this morning. I think I'm a little bit in love with the lot of you! Grin

I weighed in at a rather embarrassing 12st 6lb (I'm only 5'4") on Monday after a long holiday in France (I am roughly 20% cheese). Down to 12st 3lb today simply from no longer drinking a mountain of food washed down with half a gallon of Burgundy.

I'm 32 on Sept 15th and am having a Mad Men themed party on 20th. I want to look foxy, not like Peggy when she was pregnant! I always lose interest in diet threads but can see this working for me as it's how I actually think.

Now which ridiculous diet to try first...

Minimoo43 · 20/08/2014 09:14

Ah thanks, I will go with the oxo choice too I think, not sure what consommé actually is Grin

LuckySaint · 20/08/2014 09:23

Morning all...

Hello to the new people Smile

Isn't consomme just posh soup?

foxinthebox · 20/08/2014 09:35

A spectacular fall off the wagon last night. A book club session where 3 of the 7 didn't turn up. We drank all the prossecco and ate all the hot vanilla and cherry cheesecake the hostess had made. A kg back on this morning.

However, I have bought the slim shakes for today. I will only consume 585 calories. Oh yes. I will.

ScarlettInSpace · 20/08/2014 10:57

I managed to get away with a falafel & halloumi burger last night, with no
bun. So there was no bread and no meat, how can they even call that a burger Confused

Mostly existing on coffee today...

ScarlettInSpace · 20/08/2014 10:58

fox I'm pretty sure the bubbles in prosecco cancel out the calories
