How can I lose 10lbs before my holiday on, er, Monday?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 12/08/2014 23:47

In a panic. Was meant to start diet in May but one thing (or rather, one pizza) led to another and now I've got less than a week.

I'm 5'6" and look great at 9st 7. This morning I was 10st 11! Shiiiiiiiit!

What can I do? I really REALLY need to crash some of this off. I don't care if it's unhealthy, it's only for a few days and I can do it properly when I get home.

Any and all ideas MASSIVELY gratefully received. What are your tried and tested tricks? Thank you!

Can't even type, I'm shaking so badly. Awful

WyrdByrd · 17/08/2014 11:26

If it makes you feel better fox I'm looking at around half that again Sad .

Really pissed off with myself as I was making some progress, albeit slowly, and have come completely unstuck over the hols.

Went to a cheese & wine tasting party last night, have a night out with some MN friends tomorrow , lunch with another friend on Thursday and go on holiday a week tomorrow so I refuse to worry about it until the first of September, but I can feel where it's gone on and it's bloody annoying to think I'll probably be back to square one by then.

Trills · 17/08/2014 11:40

I was avoiding licking on this thread because it sounded a bit depressing, but actually it's hilarious!

LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 17/08/2014 11:41

Our adrenalin tomorrow is bound to burn off at least half a stone Grin

Re. letting things slide, I read a really good analogy recently. If you dropped your mobile on the floor and the screen got a small crack in it, you wouldn't stomp on it so that it got even more cracked.

I am back on my S&S diet on Tuesday morning - almost looking fwd to it. though I have, stupidly, already eaten half of the diet choccie bars I ordered for the diet :) Better than real ones, I suppose.

LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 17/08/2014 11:44

Velouria (and anyone else) PM me if you do decide to do S&S, as I can get you 10% off and a sneaky referral bonus for me Grin

WyrdByrd · 17/08/2014 11:47

Does that mean we have an excuse to drink more cocktails? That's the same as a liquid diet, right? Grin

foxinthebox · 17/08/2014 11:47

Going for starvation, water and exercise for the 2.7kg holiday gain. Then a systematic approach. C BT to recognise my rumbling stomach as a Good Thing.

purpledaisy4 · 17/08/2014 11:57

Love this thread specially the egg and wine diet

Trills · 17/08/2014 12:10

The heartbreak diet doesn't work for everyone - I just find that I eat ALL THE THINGS.

LucasNorthCanSpookMeAnytime · 17/08/2014 12:24

Does that mean we have an excuse to drink more cocktails?

We NEVER need an excuse to drink more cocktails :) I'm bringing some for the journey home too Grin

Itsfab · 17/08/2014 12:26

I had forgotten about period being due. I shall blame everything on that. Probably why my hair can be seen from Space.

I take agnus castus and starflower capsules everyday and they are seriously keeping me alive.

DH went to get eggs and came back having spent £30 so have made triple chocolate brownie for the kids as I couldn't do their first 2 choices which were apple crumble or rice pudding.

In other news I jumped up to reach something and bashed my knee on the way down. Ouch.

Trills · 17/08/2014 12:57

Y'all might like the shitty food diet

What you do is eat INCREDIBLY shitty food - but hardly any of it. So on the downside you get quite hungry, but on the upside, you've got some sort of disgusting, shaming treat waiting for you

WhatsGoingOnEh · 17/08/2014 13:18

It's FINE. Take it 1kg at a time. Reward yourself for every tiny milestone. A journey of a 1,000kg starts with a single cup of slimmer tea. :) You've find the hard part - you've started. Yay!! (I know how trite that sounds, when you're staring at a 30kg mountain to be climbed, but it is true.)

And YES to recognising hunger pangs as a Good Sign. Like that brilliant expression about exercise: "Sweat is your fat crying."

Trills - ha ha! I love RecipeRifle. She's proper thin. When she writes about having no mum friends, I always secretly suspect it's because she's stunningly beautiful and skinny as a stick. I'd hate to be friends with someone like that. :) I have stunningly gorgeous friends, and you should see me turning up at their houses with homemade brownies (waves to fellow-baker itsfab), fruit cakes, doughnuts, racks of lamb, cows...

Scarsdale Diet Maintenance Plan

Like I said, Scarsdale is 2 weeks on the diet, 2 weeks off. But when you're "off", you're not really off. He knew his readers too well to allow them to go free-roaming round the kitchen. Instead he created the "Keep-Trim Eating Plan" which you follow for those no-diet fortnights and, in theory, forever after.

Here's what you can't have:

  1. Don't use sugar; you may use sugar substitutes.
  2. Don't use cream.
  3. Don't use whole milk; use skim or low-fat milk, if you wish, in moderation.
  4. Don't eat ice cream, ice milk, frozen custard, sherbert, or any frozen products that contain sugar or milk fats.
  5. Don't eat cakes, pies, cookies, sugar jellies, jams, preserves.
  6. Don't eat candy or chocolate.
  7. Don't eat potatoes, rice, sweet potatoes, yams, lima beans, baking beans, kidney beans, avocado.
  8. Don't eat spaghetti, macaroni products, noodles, other flour based foods.
  9. Don't eat sausage, bologna, salami, etc., or fatty meats.
10. Don't eat sweet desserts made with sugar; you may enjoy no-sugar gelatin desserts in all flavors. 11. Don't add rich dressings, mayonnaise, or other similar salad dressings. 12. Don't use butter, margarine, oils, bacon fat, shortening, or any kind of fat in cooking, or as spreads or dressings. 13. Don't eat peanut butter. 14. Don't eat more than two slices of bread per day, preferably protein bread toasted.

NO! NO! List:

No more than two slices of protein bread a day.
Low-calorie sweeteners may be used.
No potatoes, spaghetti, or similar flour-based foods.
No dairy fats.
No candy or desserts, except fruit or no-sugar gelatin dessert.

YOU CAN DRINK BOOZE! But "Restrict your alcohol intake to 1 1/2 ounces a day of hard liquor, or 4 1/2 ounces of dry wine, or 8 ounces low-calorie beer; no regular beer or ale." :(

Carrots and celery may be eaten at any time. Ooh! Yay!

WhatsGoingOnEh · 17/08/2014 13:36

You can eat all fish, meats and poultry. All veg (except potatoes, starchy stuff like squash and corn), all fruits. It's not that bad. Plus when you've just lost a stone, you don't want to pile it all back on so you don't go nuts at every meal. You still lose weight on the Keep Trim plan, but much more slowly. Maybe 2lbs a week.

OP posts:
WhatsGoingOnEh · 17/08/2014 13:39

The one rule I wish I'd followed from the Scarsdale book is the 4lbs Stop Signal. You weigh yourself every day, always, and if you hit 4lbs over your perfect weight, you hop back on the diet and lose it straight away. (He says losing 4lbs on the diet won't even take a week. And he's not wrong.)

If I'd done that, I wouldn't be in this mess!

OP posts:
CatThiefKeith · 17/08/2014 13:39

I feel like shit.
Miraculously though I have woken up 2lb lighter.

It might be more soon.
I feel sick.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 17/08/2014 13:41

How TF can I go on holiday without drinking booze? Or only drink 4.5oz of wine a day? How much is that anyway, I'm picturing an egg cup?

OP posts:
Egghead68 · 17/08/2014 13:44

Live off sugar-free gummy bears

Trills · 17/08/2014 14:19

A pint is 20oz, if that helps.

LuckySaint · 17/08/2014 14:29

I love that shitty food diet. Recipe rifle is hilarious!

My period started last night, but I've been good so far today with boiled eggs for breakfast and home made veg soup for lunch I may be found chin-deep in a tub of pic-n-mix later so I'd better not sound too virtuous

Well done to the weight loss people.
I'm putting off weighing myself till later in the week but I'm up there with the others that need to lose several stones.

LuckySaint · 17/08/2014 14:31

Oh, I couldn't find shitters tea in sainsburys, but I found Pukka detox tea, which says it 'cleanses' you... Is that the same thing?

5madthings · 17/08/2014 15:06

Oh I like the shitty food diet that makes me feel better, I have been crap and had some biscuits with a cup of tea :( BUT I haven't had anything else to eat at all, so if I just have some toast fir dinner then that's fine yes?

As for those ideal weights :o no way. If I get under 9 stone by much I start to look odd, my boobs don't get any smaller gg/h cup, so I can get down to a 28 waist and 30 under boob measurement but I just start to look very top heavy. I am an hour glass shape and can tone up and be trim but I will never be thin it's not my body shape.

Well done on your weight lose whatsgoing :)

Btw 4oz is one of those little baby bottles or Tommie tippee cups, so fuck all!
