Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

sorry "paleo". Spelling ......grrrr!!!!

Steala · 30/10/2014 11:08

Oh, it's really not going well. I've been eating everything in sight for the past few days, really bolting my meals and eating till I'm stuffed. Today, though, I feel a bit more in control so I'll put it down to TOTM and carry on. I really have stretched my stomach though but hope I haven't undone too much hard work. Well, it is what it is. I can't undo the past few days but I do have a choice of how to cope with them and I'm going to make a positive one!

Millli · 30/10/2014 19:05

Hi Steala. It will be fine. Put it behind you and listen to the Gastric CD again. Its a good idea to try and listen to it every day for a month if you can. It really goes in. I know that seems a lot so as many times a week as you can manage would be good too. Thing is, this is NOT a diet so if you overeat or don't concentrate on mindfully eating your food at any time you can just start again straight away. No need to wait till the next day. If your having trouble just come on here and post. Someone will see it. I usually look often. :)

KittyB52 · 31/10/2014 11:21

I listened to the app last night and the night before, but strangely, it didn't send me to sleep as the previous CD did. Maybe that means it is going to work this time? I am still not sure about when I am feeling hungry, but I am definitely slowing down when I eat.

How is everyone else doing?

Millli · 31/10/2014 15:17

Kitty falling into a light sleep is fine as long as you wake up when he gives you the signal to "wake up". If you respond to that then you were only in a hypnotic deeply relaxed state.Smile

Millli · 01/11/2014 12:14

Solo how are you doing?

SoloCatherineWheelsOnAllPosts · 01/11/2014 14:58

Hi all! I'm ok thanks, busy at the moment and my concentration is naff, so reading through the posts has not happened, so I'm sorry if I've not welcomed anyone individually, but you are very welcome anyway! :)

You know; I always fall asleep when listening to the cd's unless I'm standing or sitting, but if in bed, I'm Zzzzzzzzzzz! and I think it still goes in because your brain is listening. I'm still maintaining, but I need to kick it up a gear I think.

Don't any of you get disheartened, it will click with you and you'll suddenly 'realise' and you'll be all Grin. It's like a little Paul McKenna on your shoulder saying "See!!"

KittyB52 · 01/11/2014 15:51

I listen to it each night, and since I have started I have not dozed off whilst listening and I have slept really badly during the night as well. Confused I am sure that must just be coincidence though.

Yesterday wasn't my best as far as eating consciously goes. However today, I had breakfast late on (10ish), didn't eat as much as I usually would, and because I can't tell if I am actually hungry or not, I've not eaten since. No lunch! Shock

I can't do the 'visualisation' things, so today's clip about improving motivation to exercise was difficult. But if the eating slowly/consciously/only when hungry thing is starting to work, then that would be enough for now. Smile

Millli · 01/11/2014 21:43

Solo How is your liver problem?

SoloCatherineWheelsOnAllPosts · 02/11/2014 01:22

I have no idea Millli I'm just chugging along really. The weight loss is stagnant and I return to the hospital in March hoping to have lost the weight he wanted me to.

SoloCatherineWheelsOnAllPosts · 05/11/2014 10:14

Hey up!!! How are you all today? :)

hippyfly · 05/11/2014 18:06

Hi Solo, I've just bought the gastric band book/cd - read the book, practicing the havening and intend to do the 'op' on Friday as I am out all day tomorrow. Read some really positive reviews on amazon so am feeling hopeful. How are you doing? :)

SoloCatherineWheelsOnAllPosts · 06/11/2014 00:38

Sounds good hippy :) I'm ok thanks. No further weight loss, but maintaining. Wish it would start going again.

Dora912 · 06/11/2014 08:56

Hi Everyone, computer problems and no email updates to my phone to say when new messages have been posted!

Millli, Thanks for your advice/comments way back on 29/30 October, I am still allowing my son to eat what he wants but with the prefix of are you actually hungry first! I did catch him sneaking chocolates last night at our bonfire party and I laughed as they were out on the table for all to enjoy. The look on his face when I 'caught' him, then the look of disbelief when I never mentioned it!

I am still over eating and not getting the full feeling at all! BUT I havent put any weight on so I believe something must be working! Apart from the very first day when I got the CD and couldnt wait to try it, I havent managed to go into trance at all. That first day I responded to the wake up and then felt slightly sick for the rest of the day so ate v little. Today I counted all the way down to 13 and when Paul says that line about conscious mind being asleep or something I want to shout at him that I am NOT!! I have tried different times of the day, sitting up, lying under all my blankets like a cocoon, after a warm bath even! I am at the point of having memorised the script and as I know what is going to be said next I dont think I am getting the benefit.

I had no trouble what so ever with the I can think myself thin CD. I went into trance every single time.

I am trying desperately not to get het up about it and practice deep breathing cycles before I play the CD but nothing seems to help. i am planning to get up at 5 tomorrow and do the CD in full so by the time it finishes it will be my usual alarm time. Hopefully being tired at the start might assist me into trance.

I am using Pauls advice about the list of stuff to do now I dont need to think about food so much but my priority is the 4 rules, i NEED to start following them fully, I do the wait until I am hungry, eat what I want but its the two about consciously eating and stopping when full that need the most work!

Well, I hope you all have a great day

D xx

Millli · 06/11/2014 09:10

Hi Dora. Stopping when satisfied. Put food on a plate and eat but put fork down between mouthfuls and mindfully chew and savour. Pick up fork when ready to have the next mouthful. After about four mouthfuls ask yourself if you could stop eating now and be satisfied. If not have another mouthful and repeat. Don't wait till your full. Don't worry about the GB cd. Go back to the ICMYT one if that works . Your doing really well. Early days Smile

Dora912 · 06/11/2014 09:44

Thanks Millli, I am feeling better, the relief of not being quite so obsessed with food is such a great feeling! Its such a change from either binging/guilt/non wheat/paleo/dukan it takes some getting used to! I do know that some of these 'diets' are much healthier than what I am eating now but I need to sort out the emotional/psychological aspect of my eating first and then by listening to my body properly I hope to then be eating a balanced diet.

I also am coming to understand better the value of the Havening technique. More and more I am appreciating WHY I am wanting to eat something when not hungry even if its because I am bored (hence the list of things to do!!)

I think I will try GB tomorrow morning as planned and see how I go, if no joy I will go back to ICMYT, incorporating the havening technique fully as well.

Thanks again for your support

D x

Solo · 06/11/2014 13:05

Hello!

Don't forget to chew at least 20 times each mouthful. I found it really helpful to close my eyes and 'feel' the food in my mouth. So for example, if I was eating muesli, I would really feel and taste every aspect of it; the nuts, seeds, oats, fruit...it worked really well for me! :)

Dora912 · 06/11/2014 13:49

Thanks for the advice Solo, everything we need to know is in the book its just applying it I have issues with!

Feeling almost travel sick today after the CD, so I am not hungry at all, i was fine straight afterwards so I ate, following ALL the rules, 2 hobnob biscuits. delicious. I have been out and now feel quite ill!

Hopefully this is the CD taking effect on me ;-)

hope you all having a great day

hippyfly · 07/11/2014 08:45

Morning everyone - had my gastric band fitted last night - can't believe how nervous I was lol. Feeling quite excited about it all - haven't had any breakfast yet - just a cup of tea - going to get on with my work and wait until I actually feel hungry. Hope everyone else is doing well :)

Millli · 07/11/2014 13:43

Well done hippyfly. I was strangely nervous when I inserted mine but it is all fine. Let us know how you get on now Smile

gunsandbanjos · 07/11/2014 16:49

Well I kind of deliberately fell off the wagon...

I have terrible health anxiety and the way I was feeling after eating was freaking me out. I had to try and forget the rules and eat unconsciously for a bit to make sure the way I felt was due to this system.

I hope that makes sense? Sorry if I sound weird!

Thankfully I'm in a better place now and ready to get back on the weight loss wagon with a better mindset.

How's everyone else getting on?

Ditzy71 · 07/11/2014 20:01

I understand Guns. Anxiety is difficult to deal with when your in the middle of an attack Sad

KittyB52 · 07/11/2014 22:14

I was doing OK, but today has been a mixed bag. I struggle with some of the visualisations, like the one for foods you 'crave' and the confidence one (can't remember the last time I felt particularly confident about anything). I am still finding the evening hypnosis session is a bit odd, as I seem to wake up either as it's ending, or after it's finished. I'd much prefer to stay asleep for the night, thanks. Grin

And I am still struggling with figuring out when I'm genuinely hungry and when I'm full. I am probably not doing it right, as I've started to have smaller portions of food, just because I don't know when I'm full, and don't want to overeat. I am at least doing the chew 20 times thing when I can (soup was a tricky one for that! Grin).

Maybe I need the book alongside the app? Confused

Ditzy71 · 07/11/2014 22:34

Kitty Paul says you have to read the book before you do the Band. He insists. Not everyone does. Its not surprising you wake up as the cd is ending. That's because he says "Wake Up". Maybe listen to it as a way of relaxing at some other time of the day.

With the not knowing when you are full thing. Your not looking to feel full in my opinion. Full is when you cant eat anymore which is too much. You want to feel "satisfied" which I think PM says too. If you eat when you are really hungry food tastes absolutely amazing. Nothing is like that feeling. So as after a few mouthfuls, check in. The amazing taste will wear off. The fourth mouthful doesn't usually taste as good as the first so maybe you could stop then because you are satisfied. You can always eat again in half an hour if you are still hungry.

Millli · 07/11/2014 22:37

Totally agree Ditzy.Smile
