Paul McKenna's 'I Can Make You Thin' Thread #15...The New Beginning!

Welcome to thread #15 of the Paul McKenna's I Can Make You Thin weight loss system.

The Golden Rules that will aid you on your journey with our like minded friendly support system are:

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONSCIOUSLY
  4. STOP eating when you are satisfied and full

HELPFUL TIPS!
Lots of chewing; at least 20 chews per mouthful.

Ask yourself "am I really hungry?" Listen for your 'full signal' and leave at least a mouthful on your plate at every meal. Eat your favourite thing from your plate first so that if you get to the full signal, but have your favourite food still sitting there, you aren't going to 'make room' for it because you love it, it will have already gone.

Admire something about yourself every day in the mirror.
Try to move more; dance around the living room or walk to school...use the stairs...small things, but good things!

This weight loss system is about re-educating your body; learning to listen to it and in doing so losing weight and inches. After all, eating a meal is not a competition, it's about enjoying what you are putting into your mouth and body, but not feeling bloated and uncomfortable (or guilty) afterwards!
Many people have issues around food. Many of us have been brought up by the 'clear your plate' parents of yesteryear which leave us feeling guilty if we leave even the smallest morsel of food, but we are working through this guilt or any other hang up we may have, and we are learning to leave a bit on the plate; return to it another time if we really want to or even feed it to the dog or the bin!
So!! forget diets; they may work for a while, but they aren't permanent solutions. This is a new way of living for your brand new life!! Let's get lighter for those summer outfits!!

The Paul McKenna system really works and is easy to maintain.

I've C&P'd our previous threads links as they are helpful.

Here are the book choices on AMAZON which is all you need to get started! they aren't compulsory, but they do help! it's something to refer to and listening to the cd's can really focus you.

This is the tapping technique EXPLAINED - this can be useful to combat cravings.

You don't have to buy the book and CD, but we have found that they do help and somehow they keep you on track, so it would probably be a good investment and will cost you far less than a couple of trips to WW or SW meetings, so do consider having them in your life.

Please feel free to join us, whether it's 10lbs or 10 stones you want to lose.
We are friendly, supportive and successful, but we're not hungry and that is a great way to feel when you are dropping dress sizes at the same time!!! so come on in and start living your new life today and make 2014 your year to drop a dress size or several...if we can get those lbs off a few at a time, just think how we could look and feel for the sunny summer time!!!
Some of our thread members are also doing PMK's Virtual Gastric Band and although this thread is not about this avenue, we will still be supportive of our friends partaking of this, so don't think we won't be there for you. I'm pretty sure that the Golden Rules will be just as helpful in this process as the I Can Make You Thin process Smile so get stuck in Smile

Here is a link to From Emotional Eating which may give some insight into why we do this and help us beat it.

Ps. Could we all try to sign in at least every few days so that someone is there? We have established that it's no fun talking to ourselves and also that if there is a new joiner, it's good to say 'hello and welcome' to them too.

Ok! Let's Focus and See Ourselves wearing that body we desire! learning to love ourselves is an important daily step, so let's become LOSERS in order to be WINNERS!!! :)

Thanks Smile , there doesn't seem to be an EasyLoss thread any more and PMcK is very much along the same lines. I've done both. I have the EasyLoss app so much handier than my PMcK CD.

I started on Tuesday. I have a hot holiday over Xmas and New Year so have an incentive.

I'm also doing Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 alongside to get my exercise in.

Panad · 16/10/2014 19:46

Panad · 17/10/2014 07:41

How you doing Guns?

gunsandbanjos · 17/10/2014 07:53

Doing good panad, bit of a blah day yesterday, very stressed at work and maybe ate more than I should. I'm good now though.

How are you doing?

Panad · 17/10/2014 08:02

I'm good Guns. Tell me, will anyone special be at your conference that you are hoping to lose the weight for?

gunsandbanjos · 18/10/2014 14:06

No, no one special at conference. Going with an annoyingly slim, pretty colleague who runs marathons so don't want to look too whale like!!

Panad · 18/10/2014 15:55

Ahhhh!. Have you seen the new song by Meghan Trainor ~ its all about the bass? Its about curvy women and a girl whose mum told her when she was growing up that curves are better. I loved it. ha ha!

Panad · 18/10/2014 15:57

this is a better link

Millls · 18/10/2014 23:34

It seems I'm down 4lbs from last Tues. I've been working mad hours all weekend so haven't listened since Thurs. My kids asked to go to KFC yesterday. They had their chicken popcorn meals (both asked for water as their drink)....and I ordered a white coffee.

Dora912 · 21/10/2014 17:51

Hi Everyone

Brand new to mumsnet and joining due to the high level of support you are all giving each other compared to other websites with threads about the Hypnotic Gastric Band.

I am hoping to 'fit' the band properly tomorrow. I will admit to listening to the CD (against all instructions) yesterday and felt quite nauseous whilst out doing the weekly shop.

I did overeat BUT I didnt feel guilty about it AND I lost 2lbs overnight!

I am hoping that by reaching out to others it will keep me accountable.

I am 226lbs (gasp!) and hope to lose 60lbs.

I am almost 5'8" and large frame with quite alot of muscle well insulated under a very thick layer of fat.

I have lost weight (almost to target) with the Dukan diet and running 3 miles a day. This left me looking ok in clothes but awful without them. Classic example of (not so) skinny fat.

I have done Beachbody workout DVDs twice and really enjoy them but I have never lost weight only toned up which made me even bigger. I am know going to do them purely for enjoyment without the regiment of every day.

I have obviously also toyed with many many different diets over the years when clearly I have the ability to overeat anything and everything.

Anyway, day one starts first thing tomorrow.

Hope you all have a great evening

Dora

Solo · 21/10/2014 23:51

Welcome Dora :)

Hi Solo

Thanks for the welcome.

i must just also point out that I am completely knew to forums etc as well, therefore I apologise up front for any newbie mistakes!

You are right, no more DIETING!! I think that might be the hardest thing to get my head around, no more binging on food like its the last supper etc. No more 'one last piece of bread' before I give up wheat!

Going to read the book after the school run cover to cover then settle down for the dvd and cds. I understand why there is the initial 2 weeks of walking and altered eating but, for me, I feel I need to started ASAP.

Anyway, fingers crossed for day 1!

Thanks again

Dora

SoloSaysHALLOhowsyaWEEN · 22/10/2014 10:39

Yes, I didn't do the two week thing either.

Actually, I've had a bad couple of days. Think I'm hormonal :(

Dora912 · 22/10/2014 14:59

oh no, poor you! I timed the start to not be my hormonal week as I crave carbs, sugar, chocolate ANYTHING the week before!

Hopefully you aren't falling into the trap of feeling guilty about the food you have eaten though, I believe this is the main trigger for me. As soon as you 'think' or are told not to have something/its bad for you I want it!

I hope you are having a bit of a better day,

Dora

gunsandbanjos · 23/10/2014 07:15

Morning folks, been busy with work and life.

Eating ok but not always as mindful as it should be.

Still hovering around 11st 3.

Hope everyone is doing well?
